What is its work volume? What price point are we looking at?

Is this newbie friendly, I want to do DIY projects but I have never used CNC before

It's absolutely newbie friendly! Upon launch we will be releasing a comprehensive education platform that will teach you how to run the mill and how to write custom code for it. I believe it is the most newbie-friendly desktop CNC available.

All milling machines are newbie friendly. You learn as you go, and have nothing to lose but your fingers. Seriously, watch out for little kids, long hair, floppy clothes. and fingers, fingers, oops there goes another one, fingers. Rotating machinery is inherently unsafe, but so are other, simpler tools. Remember that day you got yourself while trying to cut a piece of wood with a knife or a chisel. Or the lesson you learned when first trying to ride a horse.
The designers will include a substantial amount of cautionary material. You will be well advised to READ and UNDERSTAND everything before you even think about turning it on. You already own the most important safety device, located between your ears.

We're running a bit behind on the library, but I believe we'll get it released in the next week or two!

This thing works great but every time i try to make a cylinder head for my lego car i end up with an m16 receiver.

This is the most non-user friendly CNC machine I have ever seen. The biggest flaw is that the user can't see the milled surface without looking from above the machine towards the front of the unit. Most of the shots in the video are shown from the viewpoint inside the machine. I guess you could mount a camera inside the machine and watch it cut material on a monitor. Nobody else uses a horizontal spindle because you can't see what is going on.

The horizontal orientation was chosen due to the improved rigidity it affords. It is a little more difficult to see the work surface during operation than with a vertical mill, but you absolutely are able to look down from above and see it - plus, we have a mirrored chip shield on the spindle that also makes it easy to see how the cut is going.
