You forgot to mention 1 more fact that supports your theory: The Heliobus Purging Manual also says that "short-life species often burn after possession" and since foxians are long life species: Tingyun's body just disappearing into thin air means it was probably an illusion.

And remember: Tingyun is the only character that doesn't send you any messages when you get her first copy from the Gacha, she also has no "companion mission" and thus she never becomes "available to visit the trailblaze express".
My theory is that Hoyoverse plans to make a real version of Tingyun in the future and they don't want 2 different companion missions for the same character nor 2 versions of the same character visiting the trailblazer express at the same time.
one more sopourting detail is that scince its short life and weve probably known tingyun for the span of 1.0 to 1.3 (in game that could be 1 or 2 months) the "fake tingyun" is the tingyun we have known for a while cuz tingyun played hide n' seek with us with the robo puppy. although this contridicts the og theory, we knew the real tingyun but we spent more time with fake tingyun because tingyun could easily have been swaped with the fake and real tingyun could just be in a void of clouds waiting for us to save her XD

And there is another fact. Fu Xuan now stands in the divination commission. You can talk to her about Tingyun and she straight up confirms that since you boarded Xianzhou the one you met was Phantylia. Fu Xuan also says that she has no idea what has happened to the real Tingyun. I think this dialogue is a stepping stone for a future Tingyun arc of sort. Who knows, perhaps we'll see her during the festivities on Penacony. She's an amicassador after all.
If this theory is true and we meet with real Tingyun in the future I won't hesitate to pull for her 5-star version for sure

When you talk to Fu Xuan after the Xianzhou story, she confirms that the Tingyun we met wasn't the true one. She was replaced before.
"The past is in the past! What is there to feel sad about? Live everyday as if it were your last."
This dialogue hits hard while we missed her. Hopefully her real existence is okay
@NoraFoxBoy-TheFoxiestBoy Correct. Those of The Garden of Recollection really does not want March to remember her past. Gosh do I HATE Fuli and others who follow them. Stealing memories of people is denying them from learning from their past. Even if the past is traumatic, you cannot have a future exist without a past. We learn from our past to affect how our future is made. Denying one of their past is denying them of learning from that past. I still hate the IPC more than I hate the Garden of Recollection.

There's too many indications Tingyun will return, but I don't necessarily think she's alive.
Another thing we know about heliobi is they really don't die, but they can be shattered into new heliobi that contain personality fragments of the original. The interesting thing about Phantylia is she retained the same speech pattern even after Tingyun "died" which may suggest Tingyun imprinted on Phantylia. We'll deal with Phantylia at some point, which means its possible we'll break a Tingyun off of Phantylia in the process or as a result. Other than being a heliobi, and possibly a partial destruction eminator, that piece would effectively be the Tingyun.
An alternate theory I'm fond of, even if its heavily unlikely, is that copium "Tingyun is the patient on that Natasha Lightcone" but with the reason she's suddenly in belobog is because Aha rescued her, and brought her to a literal post apocalyptic frozen wasteland clinic in the middle of nowhere for treatment, just to troll people.
I can see Aha becoming the "Any goes character that makes whatever the Writer wants happen."

Agreed, it says the the Heliobi that possess humans are no longer pure. Afterall, everything Tingyun left behind are gifts for others, and these friends of hers never noticed anything different about he so it's quite likely that Tingyun imprinted on Phantylia. She left the body to possess the arbor, after which she went back into spirit, then disappear, along with the body of Tingyun. Could simply mean that she hopped back in the body and left, especially since nobody else's body is missing.
tingyun couldn t have imprinted on her,they can t combine,tingyun isn t a heliobi in the first place,there are only 2 posibilities
1.Tingyun's real body is somewhere else,safe.
2.Tingyun died.

It was stated in 1.5 that heliobi don't implant thoughts and desires, but rather just amplify them, so many of Tingyun's thoughts about her admiration for the Abundance stem from her actual feelings. I wonder if heliobi possesions have flare-ups and periods of stronger symptoms. It'd be interesting to know what was real Tingyun and what were symptoms of heliobus possesion from the moment we had met her
Now this is an interesting take. What if the Real Tingyun we meet is actually an abundance character because she was interested in also possessing long life or she was interested in the similarities between Foxians and the Borisin. It was said that Foxians were a slave race under the Borisin but they are similar in origin except the Borisin is long lived due to Yaoshi. (I could be wrong)
Another would be that she is actually a Destruction character because she is actually like Clara that she is the self destructive kind with how she prioritised others with her gifts instead of leaving a last will. She might also be such a risk taker that she puts herself in harms way just like how Phantylia did to accompany the crew. Just because you are a pathstrider for Destruction doesn't mean you are with the anti-matter legion. Probably how she got Phantylia's attention.
@@bloodmoon2345 those are some interesting takes as well. I don't much about the Borisin. Idk exactly what the word refers to. I know it has to do with the Denizens of Abundance from Yukong companion quest. I was just talking about some of this with my brother after I wrote my comment:
A scenario that would also make sense is one where the Tingyun we meet is just Phantyllia from the start. But she turned into a fake Tingyun just like that one heliobus turned into Bailu. Phantyllia may have done that when she met Tingyun far away from Xianzhou, because Tinyun travels a lot. The real Tingyun could have stayed there and we could meet her in the future on some new planet. And if she does admire Abundance, imagine us getting a 5 star Abundance Tingyun 😱🥰
Something to think on is Phantyllia is not just a normal Heliobus she is a lord Ravager a personal servant to the Aeon of Destruction. What that means is she might have more powers then a normal Heliobus.
So what that could mean is Tingyun might have normal desires and curiosities about immortality that anyone has but Phantyllia is able to ramp that up to 100s of times more then what it is normally. So the real Tingyun may not honestly be that concerned with it besides an occassional idle speculation and thought but Phantyllia IS concerned with it and so its expressed by her double agent.
@@aleksandar2046 They mentioned that the Borisin is one of the longest races that the Xianzhou is fighting against. They are one of the followers of Abundance that has an army that can rival them and the IPC. In fact, they are rather imperialistic that they conquer planets for them to acquire resources just for themselves and turn the natives into slaves.
The Foxians were one of the races that they enslaved but the Xianzhou managed to save them. Borisin is said to have canine features so they are probably Wolf people. They both originated from the same planet.
I just read in the wiki that the Borisin hoarded a spring that was blessed by Yaoshi which is why they are ageless unlike the Foxians who are just long lived. Both are blessed by Yaoshi but Borisin is just more violent since they are essentially space immortal werewolves and Foxian is more sly and cunning instead of a frontline fighter.
Now I wanna encounter a Borisin character if they really are all evil and violent or if that is just Xianzhou and Foxian propaganda.

This suggest that Loucha at least have meet real Tingyun long before the stellaron crisis. I remember a dialogue when we use Trial Dan Heng we can chat Sushang and Loucha, and he replies that he had visited the Loufu a few times. So that knowlegde should be enough that he's acquantaned to Tingyun at some point in the past
@@ernestorio3550 Exactly. There was no reason for Phantylia to be there before the Stellaron crisis. And if she was then she would have to remember Luocha as well. So I assume she was completely uninvolved in these events and will likely come back shocked when she hears what happened

That and it seems unlikely that Panthilia would go as far as to give presents and advice to people around her just to keep image + support sanctus madicus if she's been undercover since wayy back. I could give Yukong a pass since she's too busy being helm master to notice it, but the stories provided by her colleague (the merchant dude at the office), that tea shop girl, etc suggest that the one we (astral express) met is an imposter.
She not knowing him, being inmune to the smoke from the censers, claiming to be "probably younger than (trailblazer)" which isn't true at all makes me believe she was a just an infiltration puppet and not even a real person... Doesn't prevents the real Tingyun from having met a bleak fate though, I hope she can be saved.
Actually mara appears to be psychological, Blade and Jingliu keep it bay more or less. So if Heliobus is fully in control, Tingyun's body would be unaffected.
Your right. Just more variables. The rules and nature of mara are hard to understand and this whole thing could go either way.
If I'm not wrong, blade can remain sane because Kafka is there. As for Jingliu, she made a contract (I forgot, Luocha said it when talking to Jing Yuan) that made her able to be sane most of the time.
@@jadepuguon1177 Jingliu keeps herself sane by covering her eyes, Blade gets therapy sessions from Kafka. Either way this just proves that mara is psychological
@@romanadell2430 The memories of mara-struck are the issue, they set in motion a cascade of physical developments within the body. A lot of in-game text akin it to aging and not a curse or disease, so part of it is psychological but it's also physical. If a heliobus entered a host's body and retained all of their memories and experiences, they would be susceptible to it as they retain the cause of the mara-struck in the first place, even if it's surpressed by the heliobus, it remains a dormant part of their psyche. Even if a heliobus can store thousands of years' worth of information, a Foxian host body couldn't.

For all the faults in the Loufu storyline, killing Tingyun like that and leaving it so open ended would be exceptionally bad writing. And I for one would like to think that they can do better. It was just to quickly glossed over and moved on from. And it makes no sense to me to leave it so open, unless its for giving them an in to reintroduce her later down the line.

yeah, I kinda dont lose hope and expect this to be a Fu Hua instead of a Himeko, in Honkai in early chapters we saw otto kill Fu HUa, but they revived her later and gave her a proper story arc
Agree. And even with a reintroduction, is still bad writting. This is not a random extra we're talking about, or some NPC, it's a playable character. The death of an important secondary deserves at least more weight, more development that just "ah, she was possed, now dead haha, I'm evil", 4 lines of dialogue about it and move on.
I honestly agree. Even though her death was great for shock value, it’s just shit writing, and it was just…not explained any further? Looking at genshin and Honkai, even GGZ at this point, they can genuinely write better? I have no idea what happened on the xianzhou.
Hopefully they do like reintroduce her and just make this…less confusing.
Well they did give us some context that she might be somewhere and that Yukong will search for her, so maybe they left this open intentionally to work with it in the future, we still have a lot of time before the next planet, so they might as well give an ending to Tingyun Issue too
What feeds my hopes is that Tingyun was inmune to the fumes from the censers and when told to go back she said that she was "Stronger and younger" than she appeared, in fact being "probably younger than you", something we know not to the true for the real Tingyun, meaning that "guide" of us was an artificial puppet and not the real deal... Please be safe!
Yes, this is perhaps a detail that, for some reason, is very rarely paid attention to and it gives a lot of hope
i think the reason why tingyun didn't get mara struck might also be the same reason how jingliu came out of mara struck, the blessing of destruction counters yaoshi and the abundance for some reason, that is also why jingliu told jingyuan that it is time for xianzhou to choose it's next path, cause the path of the hunt is not good enough to put abundance in it's grave. this is my thinking though. destruction also helps you revive even after you are dead, so who knows the next tingyun might be a destruction pathstrider.

I don't think that the 5* version of her will be released when she reaapears in future updates but there's a possibility that there will be an event with a free 4* tingyun like the Aurum event one
Yes, after playing the ghosts chase quest I can definitely see this theory as a possibility. The only question is why the real Tingyun never contacted or came back to Loufu?
Maybe Is dure that Phantylia disguise make Her travel un other world just to distract Her when she take Her form AND see Tingyun hide desires so maybe the real one in a world where follow the path of abundance
It actually would make a lot of sense. Dan Heng could barely send messages to MC and March, and he was relatively close by. Imagine Tingyun being WAYYY farther and not even knowing the Luofu had a Stellaron. she would continue her travels like regular without reaching out at all.

Well, the video still explain that it actually makes sense for Tingyun's body to disappear (even if that's her real body)
that last part about future Tingyun being a 5 star... the Tingyun we have is already functionally a five star in what she can do I can't imagine if they created a new, stronger version.

It just feels that hyv is leading to something more.... Maybe they're using this period of lack of information... Maybe sprinkling clues thanks to the heliobus event. The fact she's also got the Lightcone on the battlepass To lure in players when 5 star Tingyun appears, to the point that even if she's a bad unit, people would still pull for her.

The only difference is yes, they were developed to the audience... They're likeable gives more impact. Tingyun has none... So that's a major flag that they're gonna developed her later. The amount of thirst for Tingyun will explode once she gets her five star. XD

Before the event happened my theory was that the stellaron hunters did set free Phantalyia[there was a convo with kafka before the fight we had and set on an adventure to there that seemed like it for me ]
I assumed that Tingyun joined the stellaron hunters or got saved by them in a trade .
truly thank you for this information CatWithBlueHat, the hope that shes stil alive out there is now much better.

I had a hunch for a while that Tingyun will come back as 5*.
The same goes for March 7 and some other wild guesses like for example, Pela Sergayevna. I assume she would be Raiden Mei in disguise.
I think she's just an expy, Sampo though...... We know very little about him.

So I would like to point out two points from your video that didn't sit well with you:
1. "Tingyun is a long life species so she should have been Mara struck when she entered the crucible."
You have to remember that the mara pellet mixed into the crucible was made by the Sanctus Medicus, who was being lead/manipulated by Phantilya. One major possibility why Tingyun wasn't affected was simply because Foxians wasn't included in the formula. I don't think Phantilya would be stupid enough to help make a pellet that will kill her host prematurely.
2. "Tingyun could still be abroad"
Not possible. Tingyun is an Amicassador, which means that not only is she required to submit regular reports to the Loufu, but she'll submit them via SMS using her cellphone.
Additionally, for the Loufu to conclude that she must be dead, they must know that Tingyun is WITHIN the Loufu during that time. Which is evidenced by the fact that Yukong knows and appoints Tingyun to be the Nameless's tour guides.
If she were abroad at that time, her presence in the Loufu would have triggered a lot of alarms. And she would have been called to explain her presence in the Loufu, instead of being abroad.
What if HSR dev planning to surprises us with free 5 star Tingyun during lunar year

It might be bit of copium to say that just because the mist turns people into mara-struck that Tingyun wasn't using her real body. One flaw is that in the same scene Fu xuan was holding her breath to avoid being turned and she was just fine. Also the mist may not turn people immediatly but gradually kinda like radiation. Heliobi or specifically Phantiylia may also just negate a persons likeness for being mara struck, but thats just conjecture. Another point Bailu was already established to be possesed in the scene you mentioned, her emotions was intensified and she remarks that she couldnt remember what exactly happened, and that she was sorry for acting out. Possesion doesnt mean Heliobi are strictly trapped in that body, Huo Huo and Tail should also be considered as an example of this. So it could be possible it was just an illusion, however you also pointed out how the green flame left a body behind. Again this could be Phantiylia tricking us, snapping her neck, and burning away the illusion, but also be exactly what it was as the life faded from Tingyuns eyes. Currently the evidence mostly likely indicates that she is dead, but it will probably be left unknown. For the Ravager that symbolises "Self-destruction" it fits her nature to leave us always guessing.
Fu Xuan does not follow us. If you check the dialog, we tell her to come to us after we stop the smoke.

She will comeback soon as an alt character based on leak. 2.4 onward we will comeback to xianzhou.
She was never confirmed dead anyway, just missing, andmyukong still searching for her.
I do think it's a bit weird there's a whole aftermath quest about people dealing her death if they're just gonna retcon it later tho? Like I'd love her to be back lore wise but IDK it just seems fishy to me.
That entire parting ritual was because everyone believes Tingyun is dead, and just honouring her due to that belief. Not a retcon because it's unknown if she actually is as welt tells us.

Yeah, of course. The player definitely knows Himeko very well, it's not like she was literally a minor character with a minimum of screen time in the story before her death and some time after.
I'm the only one who can't understand why people react like this to Himeko's death? This is literally the same as Tingyun, only with the difference that she was important to the main character and her death was more tragic, and we know that she definitely died, and not like in the Tingyun situation where we don't even know for sure if she definitely died.

I'm probably insane, but... If you go to the metal gate near the theatre at Belobog, you will encounter the person/alternate guy there. Is there a high chance that the thing we are seeing is a heliobus? I rather deal with that compared to a full scale Mandela Catalogue kinda stuff.

the thing I don't understand yet is, the Bailu copy has a flame flaying around it, while Tingyun has not + only has a flame effect surrounding her body at the last moment (exactly the same as MC and Gui when they were possessed in the event).

Also! The voice of possessed tingyun is different from the tingyun we meet at the start of the game/launch. The in-game tingyun's (the one you use) is the same as launch tingyun. The second I started the 2nd main quest on the xianzhou, I noticed her voice was different immediately.

so my question is the interaction between Phantylia and Tingyun, in order to behave like Tingyun to the point where her closest acquaintance couldn't even tell she was an imposter, that tells me that Phantylia would need to possess Tingyun, if that's the case, how long was Tingyun possessed? did Phantylia willingly leave Tingyun's body? why didn't Tingyun contact anyone on the Xianzhou about her possession if she was still alive?
I think Tingyun was possessed to the point that her real body burnt out @ 2:59 - 3:02 , but by that time, Phantylia has all the information/memory she needed in order to create the Illusion to continue to pretend to be Tingyun in order to achieve her goal
The problem is that it is specified that the bodies burn out of those who live short lives. Foxilians are still long-lived, therefore fantilia could not burn Tingyun’s body

yep. I've always thought that we never actually met the real tingyun. that it was phantylia the whole time. I played with jp voice and her manner of speaking awfully sounded like one of those conniving characters in anime. anyway, the real one was likely replaced not long before we first boarded the loufu when phantylia as the fake tingyun was in the process of initiating her plan. the real one could either just be off somewhere on another planet still on one of her travels or perhaps being imprisoned by the legion whilst their plan against the loufu was in motion.
If anything in HSR you got to pay special attention to anything Welt says.

i kinda think that although the tingyun who died wasent real tingyun i do think that the tingyun we saw after beating her in hide n' seek was swaped out cuz clearly because tingyun felt abit carefree till she felt abit more serious after winning that game
I always thought it was around that time OR around the time of Kafka's interrogation where Tingyun got body swapped. But now, I just think that she was always an imposter, and we never met the real Tingyun.

i mean, being exposed to the crucible doesn't mean she'd be mara-struck instantly. iirc it takes a while (few hours+ days) to be mara-struck.
If you have both Tingyun and Luocha in your account you could also listen to their voice lines about each other. Luocha knows Tingyun. But this Tingyun doesn’t know who he is.
I feel liek they will definitely bring her back as five star and what happened in the story is a perfect segway to her five star form, this is eveident in the way something had to happen to Danheng to embrace is old form

Maybe 5* tingyun will have like skill buff all team atk and ulti regenerate 50 energy to all party member and buff their dmg. Hence it's a better tingyun than the 4* one.

Honestly if mara struck is not unique to the humans blessed by Yaoshi and any random long lived species get afflicted by it, I don't see why Xianzhou would put the blame on Yaoshi.
I take Yaoshi's blessings don't effect just humans, so it's a direct cause of all the troubles. It's how we get abominations and animal-like abundance enemies.
I don't think Foxians were blessed by Yaoshi, and there are long lived species blessed by Yaoshi that doesn't get mara struck as well. I think Xianzhou is just bitter that the genie doesn't allow them to take their wishes back.
It's more like "because Yaoshi made them immortal, they are now guaranteed to get mara struck someday"

This gave me so much more hope. I still held onto hope she’s still alive from Welt and Fu Xuan’s comment about the Tingyun we met is fake and after this video. I do believe she’s out there somewhere
One thing I noticed no one talks about is her newest sticker where she’s holding a different fan. Maybe it doesn’t mean anything but kinda odd she’s holding a fan we never seen before
I kind of hope we don’t get a new version of Tingyun. If we get a new version of Tingyun then the version we have right now is just Phantillia and not actually Tingyun. It would be good to have a rescue Tingyun mission and a companion quest if we do everfind her again though.
I was a Tingyun main, and their treatment of her completely alienated me from the game. I haven't played seriously since Kafka's banner. At this point, it's not even about Tingyun anymore- I'm mad about them refusing to give any closure to the situation. They set it up so ambiguously only to throw her funeral with everyone involved shrugging and moving on. An entire patch's content was dedicated to her, yet provided zero new information about her circumstances. They openly commented that they'd been unable to investigate, yet the ceremony was thrown with all haste anyway. It genuinely felt at that point that they were manipulating people who cared about the character with bait, and stalled for time because they ran out of content. It's left a very very sour taste in my mouth that might prevent me from coming back in the future. This drip feed is too little, too late imho.

I'm with you on that and I don't like the main story of this game-- I play it for everything else. Tingyun is my favorite character and the reason I even checked the game out to begin with and I felt they just threw her away all for cheap shock value. The Xianzhou and 1.2 especially, has been so stupid, in my opinion. There's zero buildup, the Dan Heng and Blade confrontation was lackluster with Yanqing being there for no reason with Jing Yuan showing up out of nowhere. And zero buildup of Phantylia's appearance prior to 1.2, who is just coomer bait. I joked about this with my brother saying that I think 1.2 will always be my most hated story patch for the rest of the game's life-cycle. If Penacony isn't any better, I might be done for good.
@@Fxrrxt2x There's a moderate amount of foreshadowing in some places, but they really didn't capitalize on the twist at all. It was kind of just left to stand on its own when frankly Tingyun was a fairly important NPC that we hadn't gotten incredibly invested in from a story perspective. Strictly speaking, the twist itself didn't matter, they needed to justify it, and they didn't. This also came with the side effect of disrespecting anyone who DID care.
Isn't the entire Heiobi arc setting up for her return? You are probably not going to like it though. It looks like it'll be along the line of Phantylia being imprinted with Tingyun's original personality, making Phantylia a complex character.
I'm still playing because there's still hope, if an event comes up in the future confirming her death, I'll stop playing.
