Box of 25 partagas d4s was 288 usd around 2019 or so on ihavanas, nearly 700usd now. The Cuban prices are a joke given how shit their quality control is and how there isn’t anything that special about them. Not a single Cuban cigar is worth more than 30 usd and even at that price I’d rather get Davidoff. Better flavours and orders of magnitude better quality control. In other words, never buying Cuban crap again.
@@variszarins alright, you can't compare cuban cigars with new world. Yes the quality control is shit, but new world are way more bland and static in their flavor palettes. They're easier to smoke because of their simplicity in flavor, and I like them for that reason. But if you want something intricate, to be paired with a whiskey or for a special occasion nobody is bringing out an Opus X or Davidoff when they have a good cuban cigar. Let's be honest.
Great video as usual Kirby and listening to Gemma impart her knowledge of cigars is always fascinating and an absolute pleasure ( i do hope she will write a book on cigars one day). Trinidad Topez 2016 was one of THE best limited editions ever made imo.
Great video again Kirby and Gemma. Could listen to her talk about cigars all day. Her knowledge is outstanding. Need to get her and Edward together with you. That would be special. Thanks again Kirby. You are doing the Cuban industry proud with your presentations.
As someone who doesn't have access to cuban cigars, I think it would be amazing to have a series to compare the new world counterparts to the cuban brands. Trinidad Espiritu series 3 for instance is rolled in Nicaragua by two very well respected makers.
Please explain the Dates discrepancy? Trrinidad 55 years Anniversary brings the brand back to 1969 while they were first presented in 1994 at the Paris Dinner of the Century organized by Marvin Shanken, Trinidad was "allegedly" offered as Diplomatic gifts in 1997 and made available in 1998. Please explain the Dates discrepancy?
1969: This is the year the Trinidad brand was reportedly founded in Cuba. The cigars were produced exclusively for Fidel Castro, the Cuban government, and for use as diplomatic gifts. While Trinidad cigars were being made during this time, they were not available to the general public. The cigars' production and existence were essentially kept secret, which is why many associate this date with the brand’s creation, even though they were not commercially available. 1994 - Paris Dinner of the Century: At a dinner organized by Cigar Aficionado founder Marvin Shanken, a box of Trinidad cigars was presented as a special gift. This event marked the first time the brand was introduced in public circles outside of its diplomatic use, sparking intrigue about its origins. However, these cigars were still not commercially available to the public. 1997 - Diplomatic Gifts: While Trinidad cigars had been offered to select individuals as diplomatic gifts since the 1970s, it wasn’t until around 1997 that they began to be more widely recognized outside of diplomatic circles. This period marks the increasing visibility of the brand. 1998 - Commercial Release: Trinidad cigars were officially released for sale to the public in 1998. The initial production was limited, and the cigars were highly sought after due to their previous status as exclusive diplomatic gifts.
Trinidads are selling so bad , that soon they will give Trinidad to every Bolivar Petit Coronas for free. For me the problem with TD is that except better quality control they taste very similar to a lot cheaper Vagueros, when even with huge prices the is something special in Cohiba cigars like Siglo line.
It bothers me that they aren't actually smoking the cigars. It's more like a prop for them. TALK ABOUT THE CIGAR FLAVOR DAMMIT! If you're going to put out a video featuring unobtanium you have to include the experience of actually smoking the cigar. This is why Kirby will never be an actual cigar authority.
Jemma carries the show. Why even have Kirby there? This doesn't appeal to the average cigar smoker and you alienate your audience more than you understand. I'm basically "hate-watching" this video. Anyone else agree? Give a like if you do.
If an interviewer is talking as much as their guest, they aren’t a great interviewer. Kirby’s job here is to allow Jemma to tell the story while gently interjecting which I believe he did well
@aperson7584 Thank you for the reply. However, you are simply repeating the official narrative and expanding on what I already stated to the exception of the following part: `"1969: This is the year the Trinidad brand was REPORTEDLY founded in Cuba". This is simply not the true! The Cohiba Lanceros were the ones started in 1964 and offered as gifts to Diplomats while the Presidencia were offered to the head of states. The Presidencia had it's own white band and the Lanceros for Dip;omats had also a white band with the snake design. NO TRINIDAD whatsoever! In 1969. Trinidad were non existent! There was no hidden secret as it was supposedly in the hands of hundred of Diplomats! There is no evidence or trace or boxes to prove their existence. Boxes of the Presidemcia still exists as well as Lanceros Diplomat boxes but NO TRINIDAD! I stand to be corrected. Direct me or post a picture of a Trinidad Diplomat box dated any year from 1969 to 2024.
Always a joy to listen to Jemma.
Trinidad was always a great treat cigar to have , but with the Hong Kong price standardization, 150$+ for a cigar that used to be 45$ is insane

@@ketchyshubby strongly disagree, there are multiple davidoffs that I’d rather have over RASS, d4, monte 2 etc.

I think Kirby is not into fake cigars, lol.
Jemma is such a beautiful woman nothing but class.
The best cigar is the one closest to hand. It will always be the best. Meanwhile, there is nothing as unlimited as the limited release
I am not ready to pay those Cuban Rip Off prices. Davidoff follows.
