Kirby, you are officially the best storyteller for Cuban cigar culture: production quality, access, knowing how to find the right people. This should win an Oscar! Cheers my man!
What an honor to participate in the testing of the new limited edition. And very well deserved, for producing such an exceptional documentary. To make it available for free, online, is a sign of the many good things actually happening today - in a time where it is much needed. Thank you very much Kirby, what an excellent job by yourself and the whole team. Regards from Sweden.
I’m a subscriber of Kirby’s channel since the days of the shoe shinning tips (I searched for that hehe I didn’t know where to start), and in the last 3-4 years he’s turned into an ASTOUNDING content creator. Damn! There’s no doubt that he has the best production team around. Congrats dear Kirby! 👏🏽
Kirby! I'm not sure what you and your team did in terms of the recording and translating process of the interviews for this series so far, but it was done wonderfully! The conversations seemed natural and seamless, and as someone who learned Spanish as their first language, it has been especially enjoyable watching this series not having the translating process with the interpreter shown. Great job to you and your team; the quality continues to rise!
Kirby, I must say congratulations on the exceptional work you have done with these two captivating documentaries. Your commitment to shedding light on the lesser-known aspects of the cigar world is truly commendable. The Cuban cigar series was a remarkable exploration, and now with the well-documented history of Trinidad cigars, you have once again showcased your dedication to delivering authentic and insightful content. The depth of research and attention to detail in your films is truly impressive. I was blown away on the last scene, taking a puff of the Trinidad, savor it, pause, smile, put your fedora and then walk away from the camera, perfect. it made me imagine to go and walk with you and talk about life. Your ability to educate, entertain, and captivate audiences is a testament to your talent as a filmmaker. Keep up the fantastic work, Kirby! Greetings from Australia.
The work you have done to showcase Trinidad cigars is phenomenal. Thank you for dedicating your time to giving us a deeper look into a passion we all share here.
Kirby, tremendous documentary of such an emblematic habano brand, Reyes are my weekend go to cigars and Fundadores the special occasion. Thank you for putting so much effort into creating this wonderful video. PS next time hat off when indoors (had to say it since you are such a well dressed gentleman:)
Absolutely brilliant Kirby. Just outstanding storytelling, production and presentation that has given me a new and profound appreciation for Cigars, their history and journeys.
Kirby been watching you for years but these new shows especially this one have excellent scripting and visuals. Really specific & exceptional presenting with clear and concise information . 🎉🎉🎉
Wow Kirby, I must say your video production quality has come a long way since the beginning of your channel! It’s always a great pleasure to join you on your journey, teaching the world about fine goods and accessories. Thank you for your good work, I will continue to watch your videos for years to come!
The production level put on these videos are simply the best on UA-cam, it's BBC+ level reportage. It's a shame the views are so low, but I get it, since the algorithm doesn't reward tobacco/nicotine videos and unfortunately probably puts in a 18+ category. God bless you Kirby for keep doing it, and providing the best cigar content on YT, the community salute you.
It is frustrating that the YT algorithm isn't showing this video to more people! But I try to tell myself that it isn't "how many" people watch it, but "who" watches it.
Watching the videos of Kirby in Cuba is a bittersweet sentiment. I was born and raised in Cuba under a brutal dictatorship. I’m now an American citizen. I do like the videos but watching the Cuban people in these videos I can’t stop thinking that they are all currently starving due to the government that is as brutal as an axe. Much of my family is in Cuba still, so this is not just hearsay. Make no mistake, every Cuban you see in this videos is cursing the day they were born on that island, and yet we have Kirby unintentionally romanticizing their poverty. Cubans were able to smoke their Cuban cigars until a handful of years ago, now they smoke none of the ones they used to like.
That is true. From Kirby's videos, I still see Cubans driving Russian LADA car from 80's. Cuba, similar to North Korea, is like frozen time capsule before the Perestroika.
Kirby should interview the Cuban people and tell those here what dictatorship is like to live by. Those interviewed in Cuba need to be in favor of the dictatorship or being axed.
Dear Kirby, Another great video; well done. Very informative and very well presented. We all know how much you love wearing hats, but in the presence of a lady and in-doors? Thank you. A tu buena salud
Glad you could have Jemma to preface the beloved story of Trinidad providing context and history. Love her knowledge - and of course it goes without saying, she is quite beautiful!
For anyone passionate about cigars and specifically Cuban cigars or interested in the legacy of one of Cuba's most significant brands, "The Legacy of Trinidad" is a must-watch. It's a fascinating journey that showcases not just the history of a cigar brand, but also the spirit of a nation. Highly recommended! Kirby’s production also lends an air of romance and elegance to this captivating story.
Wow! Another classic from the Kirbster. Thank you so much for this gem. If I understood correctly, that's only 30 rollers for the entire brand production. If so, that explains why Trinidads are so hard to find. I assume you will be at the Habanos Days in London Kirby? Be sure to bring your production team along, it will make a great video or two.
Yes, only 30 rollers in total rolling Trinidad... and 20 of them are the highest Level 9 category. Quite impressive when you think about it. Trinidad has really maintained it's original exclusivity since it's escaped the heavy commercialization that Cohiba and many of the other brands have undergone...
Jesus Christ Kirby. You have spoiled us too much my brother. Your content is just superb man, clothes, shoes , cigars it don’t matter simply the best . Thank you.
What an excellent video. I am even more happy about this video as I did not know much about the Trinidad brand. I thought it was obsolete. However, four months ago I was given the opportunity to purchase a box of the Trinidad Robustos Extra. I almost did not make the purchase but a friend who knows cigars better than me convinced me to do so. The cigar is a very nice cigar. I've only smoked a couple. After your video, I think I will enjoy them even more.
The Trinidad Fundadores might be one of the most iconic and instantly recognizable Vitolas in the world... overshadowing even the Lagutio No.1 in my opinion
Yes! It is an interesting point to make that new world cigars, at least those I saw in the Dominican Republic, are not completely handrolled. A small machine is used to roll the filler and wrap it in the binder. Whereas with Cuban cigars, everything is done by hand... as it has been done since the beginning.
From an interview with Marvin Shanken and Fidel Castro...this is all a false lore: Shanken: Trinidad. We understand that it is a brand of cigar that is your own personal brand, which you give to diplomats and friends as presents. Castro: No. I principally give Cohibas for presents. Shanken: You don't give Trinidads? Castro: No. I don't give Trinidads. I give Cohibas. [clipped discussion of new brands] Shanken: The El Laguito factory has a brand called Trinidad, which they say is for you to give as personal gifts. It has become a legend. Castro: I am not fully aware of that brand, but I assume it is like the Lancero in size from Cohiba. Shanken: It is the same size, but with a little darker wrapper. Are you going to allow Cubatabaco to sell it? Castro: I don't know about that cigar.
Watching this video while smoking a Romeo & Julieta Verona Court, I’m still amazed how the Trinidad came to be! I’ll see if I ever find a Trinidad here in DR.
Congratulations Kirby. This series is even better than your previous Cuban series. I think you’ve now set us all up for a continued series into the many different brands on offer, exploring their rich heritage. The videography in these two videos has been a large step up from the previous Cuban series, what ever changes you have made truely reflect in the end product, well done.
Habanos is trying very hard to make Trinidad more premium, sadly starting with price increase. Cuaba was created as third premium brand, wonder if they are gonna put more energy into it like for this one.
a worker, any worker ( even doctors ) makes $15.00 month in cuba, but i do not smoke, cross the canadian border and you can get a cuban cigar anywhere for $15.00
would if pain you to pronounce fundadores less like a Texan? I feel like you’re of a caliber or content producer, and expert, where respecting the pronunciation will help create a more polished product overall. Keep up the great work regardless
LOL "what makes your cigars able to be aged for so long and come out so well?" real answer is they dont age them themselves so they are very green when you as the consumer receive them vs the cigars coming out of "new world" brands.
Habanos just launched an aged program this year, with the inaugural vitola the Fundadores. And new world cigars are quite green themselves when they hit the shelves…
@@kirbyallison I may be spoiled as I tend to only buy and smoke perdermo and dunbarton manufactured cigars and they are all aged and ready to smoke after the normal week of getting use to their new home in my humidor. Also as a fellow American I’m sure you’re like me and when we have Cubans in our home humidors they tend to sit a lot longer than the new worlds just due to us not being able to bring them into the country anymore. I know I have some that have crested the 10 year mark now….
I love watching the rolling process. However, anyone can learn to roll a great cigar with the right leaves. I don’t think the rollers deserve celebrity like status
To this day, the Cubans are the only ones that still roll their cigars "totally by hand." All new world production utilizes a Lieberman bunching device. If it were that easy, everyone would do it...
The Communists sold the tobacco business to the Brits and now nobody can buy a dam cigar not even in Cuba due to the price hikes. The monthly salary of a regular worker on the island is not even close to the retail sale price of a single cigar. Everybody, even poor people in Cuba could enjoy their own cigars before Communism, not anymore.
Kirby, you are officially the best storyteller for Cuban cigar culture: production quality, access, knowing how to find the right people. This should win an Oscar! Cheers my man!
What can we do to push this series to win awards?
I'd like to just see everyone push it for more views! ;) I don't think Cuba gives out any awards in this category..
I could listen to Ms Freeman speak all day. We need an episode with The Sahakians and Ms Freeman!
I concur!
Your work is truly outstanding Kirby! From storytelling to production and video quality. Well done!
Thank you! A lot of work went into it!

I love these very detailed, long format videos on Cuban Cigar culture.

Documentary-quality production. Thank you so much for this fascinating series Kirby and team!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I would have been happy with one video on Trinidad, and an entire series is a true gift!
...two part series... ;)
Another installment of brilliant video content and production. Thanks Kirby!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Absolutely brilliant Kirby! I've been looking forward to this one.
Hope you enjoy it!
so much better than the stale interviews of part 1. good job Kirby

Production quality and emotion in this video is stellar. Lucky to smoke a Trinidad watching this.
it was really nice Kirby ,what a beautiful history and very well made documentaries ,one of the best I have seen in last few years .well done

If compelling me to want to fly to Cuba and buy a few boxes of Trinidad’s is a marker of success, I’d say your video is a spectacular one! 🙌👍

Kirby, thanks for these brilliant serie. A series of brilliance, grace and perhaps envy (of not being there)
Dear Kirby,

This is amazing. What an educational experience! Thanks Kirby
17:50 music playing and still you can hear the tobacco getting rolled. Excellent production!! Great documentary!!Amazing narration!!
I have about 55 Trinidad brand cigars. They are really nice ❤❤❤❤❤ I’m happy to finally see a video talking about the brand and the legacy
Lucky man!
congrats on a brilliant documentary, its pure class!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Kirby ~ you did it again. Incredible!!!
Wow! Standing ovation now I have another life journey to accomplish and stroke me one of those Trinidad.
Such great content. Makes all other channels obsolete

Kirby, what is the music playing around 3 minutes in while she is speaking?
Does anyone know where the Trinidad shorts are made? I know they are made by machines but l would love to know in which factory
Although I do not smoke, I enjoyed the "story and sights" greatly.
I agree. Regardless of whether one smokes, the story is interesting!
Excellent documentary Kirby , you did justice to this supreme Vitola of the Cuban tobacco family 🙏

I just absolutely hate that those Smoking hurts your lungs stickers are so big and plastered on those beautiful boxes. Outside and Inside too, omg 😫
I know... and I'm pretty sure that smoking cigars never caused any of the things displayed on those labels.
