Cool old saw. My dad's cousin, Ray Pitre, owned IEL . They manufactured Pioneer chainsaws in the 1940s and 50s. He sold out to OMC in 1956. IEL was in Burnaby BC
If you made it to the end I think I may tear it down a bit more I’m debating it. I’m just scared I may never find a set of piston rings for it. We will see. Which I did this morning edit*
i just found one of those and on my lid it say 12:1ratio mixe what do you think is yours runninf well with 16:1 ? just wondering whats the right ratio thx
Guillaume hebert Mine said 16:1 on the gas cap. Back then the oil quality was not as good as today’s synthetic 2 stroke oils. You can probably be safe running it 30:1 with modern oil but I would not go leaner than that just to be on the safe side. You could run it 16:1 too there is no problem with that! Thanks for watching.

Good old school saw. I see on its left side, it's built like a Stihl 070/090. The position of the fuel tank, etc. Good job on it.
Nice! I have a couple of those RAs Great looking old saws
Taking apart these 50+ year old vintage saws is not easy. There is always at least one stubborn bolt or part. Glad you didn't edit out the bs.
I know. The onl reason why I took the whole thing apart is to paint it properly. I am still hunting down a pair of crank bearings for the saw.
Nice Video Bro 👍
Thank you part 2 will be up soon waiting for parts!!
Good work on the pulley,

Let me know if you want to sell it 🙂
I have 3 of the 600 series, and it took a lot to restore them, Never use a hammer or drill or torch on cast aluminum.
Aluminum or zinc/ manesium?
when you broke gas cap I was like "NOOOOOOOO!"
Владимир Маноилов I already have a new one don’t worry.
Don’t ever store an engine with fuel in it for 30 years because your gas cap disintegrates 😂
Yes that was a home lite gas cap lol
All ways let parts soak in lube first.amature move. Those parts been there for years
Why are you talking off the different parts, unnecessary work.
