I only just found out that my step mum passed this morning😭,if I had known that our last conversation was indeed the last one we would ever have,I would have said a lot more to her and asked a few questions,we always think people will be there forever, but as my Dad always said, there's a first and last time for every thing,so make it count!
My deepest condolences. And yeah as my grandad used to say, 'Youth is wasted on the young.' You don't realise these things generally until it's too late.
Health wise: sunscreen or even a big brim hat. Philosophy wise: I heard in 12 step rooms “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. All we have is the present which is why we call it a gift.” Also my plants teach me things almost daily and give me something to look forward to.
Yeah I can attest to the sun screen thing - I currently have a cancerous mole on my face that's awaiting removal - and that's from being in the rainy UK! Good quote too - I think living in the present is so important yet so hard to actually do!
Definitely the one about time, and being mindful…my older friend I cared for on hospice peacefully passed away yesterday. The apt. Is packed with the components of all sorts of projects she had wanted to do, tons of books she wanted to read, especially cookbooks and ingredients and special pots never used…it really made me rethink how I am going to use my time going forward. Set aside time to do the things you really want to, live like your time is limited…just do it. 🌿 oh and have an Advance Directive and a Will if you care about those you will leave behind. ❤
I disagree about the saxophone. Both in how long it takes to sound ok and that it’s too late. Also the whole attitude that you “learn” instrument in terms of being able to tick off a box of having done it isn’t how it works. The better you are the worse you will think you are and you’ll never tick off that box, so you don’t have to worry about it. The learning is the playing.
I gave it a good go and was having lessons but Covid came and put a stop to it. I then lost all motivation. It’s all on me - I guess I just didn’t enjoy the practising as much as I thought I would. I think perhaps if I’d have had other people to talk to or practise with it might have been different.

So sorry to hear of your friend, Judy - glad it was peaceful - that's all we can hope for I guess. And good advice too.🥰

But I agree about skating. Not worth the accidents

We actually do have plenty of time! (not in this life though... ha!)
Yeah I guess those with a faith will think differently. Us atheists have a deadline!🤣
