More life in the soil, means more life above the soil. Period.
Hear how regenerative agricultural principles are restoring and enhancing soil health by creating more diverse soil microbiological communities. Increasing the microscopic biodiversity under the ground leads to benefits magnified across the system.
Healthy soil holds more water, reducing flooding risk and irrigation needs. Healthy soil supports more diverse vegetation and restores ecosystems where incredible blooms in life can take hold. Healthy soil attracts pollinators and creates havens for native bird populations. Healthy soil increases the nutrient density of the food it produces, at far less cost than conventional farming practices.
Modern conventional agricultural techniques that rely on expensive and often dangerous synthetic fertilizers and pesticides that harm the soil and reduce nutrition. It's hard to argue with the benefits and the data, so why aren't all farms regenerative? Education and initial transition costs-two hurdles Allen Williams is on a mission to tackle.
Allen Williams is a 6th generation family farmer and founding partner of Grass Fed Insights, LLC, Understanding Ag, LLC and the Soil Health Academy. He has consulted with more than 4000 farmers and ranchers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, South America, and other countries, on operations ranging from a few acres to over 1 million acres.
Allen and his colleagues specialize in whole farm & ranch planning based on the concept of regenerative agriculture. Allen pioneered many of the early regenerative grazing protocols and forage finishing techniques and now teaches those practices and principles to farmers globally. He is a “recovering academic”, having served 15 years on the faculty at Louisiana Tech University and Mississippi State University. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Animal Science from Clemson University and a Ph.D. in Livestock Genetics from LSU and has authored more than 400 scientific and popular press articles. Interesting how they flagged this video and Allen has a PhD from LSU and 400+ published articles. I'd say he's an expert in the field.
It *might* be because he seemed to be fundraising in the last couple of minutes, which would be clearly out of bounds, rather than questioning his science. Just a guess, though.
I’ve become skeptical of Ted flagging . They have flagged several presentations that simply fall beyond high tech and big pharma and some other fascinating talks… even TED has developed a “standard paradigm” unfortunately
Regen farming techniques receives a lot of back lash from the bio chemicals companies , fertilizer herbicide companies which makes billions and billions paid via the the farmers thru governmental subsidies…the bio chemicals are the big pharma of Ag , and they do not like The regenerative movement … money always speaks higher..
Simple effective message . We need more and more on this. Rebuilding top soil needs to becomes a national priority and every farmer top priority as well.. all else will fall in place

That's rich, given that the study of the impact on soil from conventional and/or industrial agriculture is fairly new. TED, all of your talks are personal interpretations. That's why they're TED "Talks" to begin with. Also, no one has refuted the findings in the studies he refers to at the end of the presentation.
I was fortunate to meet Dr. Williams in Starkville, MS at the local farmers market two summers ago. The 15 minute conversation I had with him has made a huge difference on our 60 acre farm. I took just a small piece of his advice and tried it - the results were amazing. He is well worth the time to listen to his approaches in farming.

Why didn't TedX put the link to his regenerative agriculture education in the description?
I remember being taught about not over grazing land in primary school over here in South Africa.
And thats why South Africans and Zimbabweans are the best grazing managers (in my opinion)
Hey Tedx Talks, maybe in that awful note you posted add actual links to the data you're saying disputes his claims?? Because that seems only fair.
who funds Tedx that they flag this?
Everything i have heard Allen say in many interviews is logical. Tedx must be bought and paid for by BIG AG, BIG PHARMA, or some other entity which wants to keep farmers poor and cheap superprocessed food-like substances in the stores, rather than wholesome nutrient dense foods.
Big Ag funds most ag schools and laboratories. So if students get to listen to Mr. Allen's words and do the math, the students will use less of their products.
@@marlan5470 big pharma paid for the milk quality class i was in with 2 vets and a vet tech about 15 years ago. Allen has a PhD, i believe in genetics. He has a great discussion on epigenetics! He is a 5th or 6th generation farmer, too. 100,000 Beating Hearts shows how big chem sold fertilizers to farmers after the 2nd ww. A graph on Steve Kenyon's youtube shows farmer vs big ag profits. Regen ag threatens all the big businesses and benefits the farmer and the farm's communities!
I do know the leftist climate alarmists hate regenerative ag and men like Allen Williams and Gabe Brown because their findings debunk the climate change narrative pushed by the left and the media. Also, they are followers of Christ and they really hate that.

Dr. Elaine Ingham, Gabe Brown, Dr. Christine Jones, Nicole Masters, Ray Archuletta, Dr. James F White, Dan Kittredge, I'd like to see them debunk those legends as well if they think Regen AG isn't science based
