what would you say about companies who open a 2nd company to be a holding company for their equiptment that they lease back t themselves?
What’s the goal of that? Sometimes business owners unnecessarily over-complicate things
@@TruckingFromScratch from what i was told, you start a holding company. transfer your trucking company assets to that company and then lease the equipment back to your trucking company. First you are able to write off that lease indefinitely. Second, it protects your trucking company in the event of a major accident where your company gets sued. Lawyer looks at your company to see assets and realizes that you own none. Less likely to come after you for a greater amount. According to a gentleman i spoke with the other day, major carriers have been doing this for quite awhile to protect themselves. But im not certain, im still doing the research on it.

Yes this is the smart move Because they cannot sue a company who doesn't do business with the public. however I'm almost positive that if you don't know much about that you'll likely screw it up and leave liability on your holding company in some way. just start a regular business and seek legal advice

I just found your channel today and I really dig it.
I use delvac 15/40, every 15,000 miles. The trucks that I owned went over 1.3 million before I got rid of them. Synthetic is expensive but another way to go.

Hey Mr. McGill this is major again with another question. would I be able to run local loads with my us DOT number while waiting for my MC to go through it’s 21 day wait process ? If I book the load Under someone else’s MC would I be able to carry it under my US DOT.
