Were you unable to find the graphics driver for the VAIO? I'm sure graphics drivers made for Vista x64 or 7 x64 would work on Tiny11, or even the full fat version of Windows 11.
Pro tip: Most of those Windows CMD commands in diskpart all have shortcuts. Example: "select disk 1, select partition 1" can just be "sel dis 1, sel par 1" etc.
That Sony Vaio still looks pretty sweet, even by today's standards. And now you've made me look at my old Nokia Lumia 1020 and wonder what I could do with it.
I would suggest trying micro 11 for the vaio, even tho it has weird quirks like not having a required service to connect to internet. Maybe you could try adding it back?
you can scale windows 11 on the lumia so that it is usable and mobile. but windows 10 makes more sense as it supports a fullscreen tablet mode, which makes a lot more sense for a smartphone.

Hi, new subscriber here. I'm asking my question here because this is your most recent video. Question is, Have you ever used any of the Sharp Zaurus line of digital assistants known as the Zaurus line of PDAs? The very last one was released in 2004 and is model SL-C3200. There were several previous models in this category, they all have a full keyboard and can be rotated into tablet mode. The earlier models were: SL-C1000, SL-C3000, SL-C3100. These all had one SD slot and one CF slot and usb host/client IRda and headphone jack. These came with Japanese OS and run Linux. The ARM processor is ARM ver 5. Some models came with a 4GB microdrive. Thank you, Bill
Hi Bill, I remember seeing one a long time ago. But it had a had a black and white screen from memory. The models you mention looks newer and sound much more interesting. Thank you for mentioning them. I hope one day I can find one and try it out!
Hi, Janus! I watched the video and i thought that it would be pretty interesting to install the following systems on the VAIO: 1. Windows 8.1 Embedded Industry Pro or maybe Windows 8.1 RT3 (For Surface RT) and maybe even Windows 8.0 build 9200/8400. 2. Windows 10X (Find a tutorial how to install) 3. Android x86_64.
@@JanusCycle I've been using Windows 8 for quite a long time, I'm just curious how would it act on devices like this. Windows 10X is just like ChromeOS(Would like to see it on vaio too) but capable of running Desktop/UWP apps, and intended for the tablet pc's, but it requires Microsoft Account, and there's just no way around. I have not tried. I would like to get back to that phone. Tiny 10 is a possibility. But I want something with a better chance in only 1GB. Also the mystery of how Windows XP on eMMC based netbooks work, which do exist, needs to be solved.
I'm also hoping for an XP powered F-07C. Finally managed to snatch one from japan last week, albeit without the docking station. Do you know of any XP running netbooks that run on emmc? Especially if they're models sold in the US or Europe, I could try to find/get one in working condition
I've had good success installing Tiny 10 in a windows to go format, that way you install it directly to the storage drive using a faster computer, I don't run it on anything quite this old, but the advantage is, if the storage media you're using is removable, you can just take the drive out and move it to the next computer. Start up takes a moment, but then it works without a hitch.
@@JanusCycleIt works ok for me, but I realised after making this comment I'm on slightly better hardware than what you're displaying here. But might still be worth a shot, skips the entire windows set up part, only thing you have to do is set a password the first time you use it, or next time you boot you'll be locked out for some reason.
this would run Ubuntu with LXDE or AntiX just fine! Would love to see a video of that, though, im sure you don't want to wipe the drive and have to reinstall later lol
the problem with these "tiny windows" versions is that gradually over time regardless of start menu options, it will start to soak up more and more ram from regular use, installing shit ect
My wife had a x86 tablet running android many years ago. It was really snappy and had excellent battery life (almost 10 hours). But with the then following version of android x86 support was removed (or at least made unavalible) for that tablet. It would be quite fun to se windows on something like that.

"You can make calls but unfortunately not text messages." Why can't you go to Facebook messenger? I did it on a "New" 3ds so there's no way a phone running windows 11 can't.
@@JanusCycle As long as you can connect to cellular data I don't see the problem with using Facebook Messenger or some other app similar to that. I don't really like phone numbers anymore. The reason being if your phone breaks you're screwed whereas I can just go on Facebook Messenger on any other electronic device so long as I have the username and password to login. And if you desperately need a phone number you can always try text free.
Id recommend using a windows 11 Iso from ghost as its more structured out features and tweaks wise and seems to offer the best performance on lower spec hardware.

@@JanusCycle G'Day and thanks so much for replying! After a week of trying to get windows update to work I error code 80072EFE... I've tried every trick in the book to no avail. I'm at the point of your suggestion of VS-W10 , but Drivers stopped at Win 8 (Those need reg hacks to work) or going *nix. Honestly I'm at the point of donating it. All that said, I loved your video and subscribed. Thank you for making such great content ! - David (Perth WA)
This popped up in my recommendations. Instant subscribtion. Keep up the good work. Now I want one of those VAIO s too
Were you unable to find the graphics driver for the VAIO? I'm sure graphics drivers made for Vista x64 or 7 x64 would work on Tiny11, or even the full fat version of Windows 11.
Great video! Great channel. Best wishes from Panama 🇵🇦
I'm glad you are enjoying the videos. Hi to everyone in Panama!
I am really happy I found your channel, it is very informative and interesting.
Pro tip: Most of those Windows CMD commands in diskpart all have shortcuts.
Example: "select disk 1, select partition 1" can just be "sel dis 1, sel par 1" etc.
I have since learned and done this :)
0:40 I love everything about this setup
The first 64-bit consumer cpu by Intel was Intel Pentium 4 661 or 670.
That is true, thanks. I could have said the Core2Solo was the first popular mainstream CPU to be more accurate.
@@JanusCycleOK
Great video - and love your persistance. Have you tried Tiny11 on iPad Pro M1 with UTM?
Speaking of emulation, windows' subsystem (both linux and android on github) might be an amazing try for these old tiny devices
Congratulations on the 10k subscriptions :)
thank you
you can scale windows 11 on the lumia so that it is usable and mobile. but windows 10 makes more sense as it supports a fullscreen tablet mode, which makes a lot more sense for a smartphone.
Dark mode is available on Tiny 11
❤️
This will help with making even better videos in the future, thank you.
I installed tiny 11 superlite on a lenovo flex with 4gb ram and a 3350 celeron processor and its SO SLOW. how can it be so snappy on yyour phone. Is the 11 you used better that the superlite version?
Interesting... I've got a pair of Lumia 650s here, neither doing anything useful. I wonder if I can make those work? I know they're a bit smaller than the 950XL. Also, I wonder if it'll work on other ARM based kit, like older tablets?
Subscribed. Love your formatting and content.
my new favorite channel
I've been waiting for this ever since Tiny11 came out.
I hope one day I can find one and try it out!
you should try turning up the scaling in the display settings on the phone and removing all of the unnecesary stuff on the taskbar
Hi, Janus! I watched the video and i thought that it would be pretty interesting to install the following systems on the VAIO:
1. Windows 8.1 Embedded Industry Pro or maybe Windows 8.1 RT3 (For Surface RT) and maybe even Windows 8.0 build 9200/8400.
2. Windows 10X (Find a tutorial how to install)
3. Android x86_64.
Some great suggestions there. I've never used Windows 8(.1) and always been curious.
@@JanusCycle I've been using Windows 8 for quite a long time, I'm just curious how would it act on devices like this. It might actually be a lot usable with the full screen start menu and the gestures. Plus embedded industry pro is intended for use in low-end pc's.
Windows 10X is just like ChromeOS(Would like to see it on vaio too) but capable of running Desktop/UWP apps, and intended for the tablet pc's, but it requires Microsoft Account, and there's just no way around. Thx for the reply!
@@JanusCycle maybe it would be cool to see Windows Embedded Standard 8 and Windows Embedded Compact 2013 with custom shell. Windows 10 IoT would be cool to see too. Out of all this OSes i haven't installed only compact 2013, but if windows 11 has installed, why wouldn't it?
Awesome video, awesome channel, thank you so much for this content! I think your channel is gonna grow soon!
😮😮😮❤Hello, new friend from Thailand.🇹🇭💯🙏 Let's watch a good clip. and will come back to visit again🎉🎉🎉
Wonder if you could try tiny 11 on your F-07C. Would it be able to recognize the emmc and intsall/boot from it?
I would love that. But the F-07C is limited by it’s 32-bit CPU, can’t run Win 11.
@@JanusCycle Ah, forgot about that nugget :\
Just remembered. You did a video about W10 on this. Have you tried tiny 10 on it?
Intriguing, I've never tries Windows to go.
3:26 is that the real music that plays in the setup
its relaxing
i just ordered a oneplus 7 pro a couple days to install windows 11 arm on it so see how the performance is gonna look like
Are you using a normal HDD or SSD in your Vaio UX? Even Windows 7 was very slow on one of my Vaio UX until I installed an SSD.
I'm using an SSD, I installed a faster one than the original as well!
this would run Ubuntu with LXDE or AntiX just fine! Would love to see a video of that, though, im sure you don't want to wipe the drive and have to reinstall later lol
the problem with these "tiny windows" versions is that gradually over time regardless of start menu options, it will start to soak up more and more ram from regular use, installing shit ect
I gotta try this ISO image on my HP Mini 210.
My wife had a x86 tablet running android many years ago. It was really snappy and had excellent battery life (almost 10 hours). But with the then following version of android x86 support was removed (or at least made unavalible) for that tablet. It would be quite fun to se windows on something like that.
get retroarch up and running on it, it works on both 32 and 64 bit operating systems, would be cool to see what games this thing can play
I do like Retroarch very much
dusted off my old 950's , just waiting on another charger to try this tiny11 arm build on them
I hope it goes well :)
5:49, where did you find that dialer app?
I wish Sony would remake the Vaio portable. I wanted one of those for so long back in 2006.
Really enjoyed this video.
I really love how Sci-fi that VAIO looks, it looks like when a character is hacking stuff on a building or something they would bring that 😅
I tried Tiny11 on my Steam Deck on an external SSD and it's been as flawless as Windows on the Deck gets. Great little OS if you want your resources free for shenanigans.
Try something like Pop!OS or some arm compatible Linux distro on the Lumia, and maybe the x86 version on the VAIO?
Only windows works on the lumia
@@KofolaDealer Someone has gotten Debian to run on the Lumia 950xl

Windows 11 setup: Everything's gonna be alright baby. Just getting things ready for you by the way your a winner.
"You can make calls but unfortunately not text messages." Why can't you go to Facebook messenger? I did it on a "New" 3ds so there's no way a phone running windows 11 can't.
Messenger will work. But if someone sends you an SMS it won't go through :(
@@JanusCycle As long as you can connect to cellular data I don't see the problem with using Facebook Messenger or some other app similar to that.
I am stuck with ARM tablet Nokia 2520 :( Tried installing an ARM windows 10... It was a dead end.
It's emulating but its more like a translation layer between the os and the arm cpu
You are correct, it's not full CPU emulation. I could have been clearer, thank you.
I bet that thing would run Linux like a dream.
8:46 What about Pentium D and earlier Xeon Intel's 64 bit cpu's?
Yes! I should have said 'first mainstream 64 bit CPU'.
09:38 Depeche Mode "Stripped"
Hi Janus, how about running a lightweight linux distro on that machine?
Windows 11 on the lumia, using kiosk mode you could have multiple "users" each with their own kiosk mode running different apps. This would make it feel more like a phone. In theory
So happy people are making use of the one windows phones. If someone can make decent apps work and texts I think I’ll go back to them with tiny 11
New to channel. Sub earned! Would love to see you test game emulators on these devices. Will boost views ten fold. "Running Nintendo 64 emulator on tiny device using windows" everytime you do this on a phone or old pc run emus. That will bring the crowd.
Thank you. I do love retro gaming and emulating. I hope to have more gaming style videos soon.
next try to run linux mint xfce on it.
I got myself a 950 for this and I always wanted one. Just had a look and looks like sd card booting is currently being worked on so I think I am gonna wait for that.
Nice content, I’ve subscribed
This is like therapy for me
Glad you are getting into it :)
Interesting, I have an old lumia or two, I thought they were forever stuck with what they came with.
I don't think any of the other Lumia's are supported by the WOA project mentioned other than the 950 and the 950XL... They might be supported by renegade though
