Also little rig bags or anything you bring in please bring out as ethical fisherman! Thank you sooo much Ive learned a lot with out having to search the entire internet!
Really nice video boys! I think this was the most comprehensive, detailed and easy-to-follow fishing tutorial I've seen so far on fluke surf fishing. Keep it up and catch em up!🐟🐟🐟🎣🎣🎣
This was fanTASTIC! So many videos hone in on a specific aspect. But this is by far the best end-to-end presentation I've run across. This is going to help me immensely. And where you are looks very similar to Plum Island in MA. I love the strategy of traveling light as well. Thanks, guys! You just earned a new subscriber!
I truly appreciate your video. I'm going to try and surf fish for my first time when visiting relatives in NJ. This will certainly help. Sending love from NE PA
BAYSIDE DAVE! Can’t believe I came across ur video lol was looking up bleeding fluke im always on facebook group getting awesome info! So funny didn’t know u were on UA-cam too awesome video!!!!!!
You can add a d ring to your surf belt and put the rod through the d ring and hold between your legs. You can get some electrical tape and tape around your rod to mark legal fish length.
My old stomping grounds in the 70’s ! Caught some 6&7 pounders in the LBI surf ! We didn’t have plastics or gulp baits! The plastic was very stiff ! I got my fish on squid strips on castmasters! Metal spoons like Hopkins worked too !
Wow great video!!! Covered all phases on fluke fishing in the surf. I fish surf at Sea isle City. Quickly, this is one of the sharpest clearest videos I have seen on UA-cam What type of camera did you use ?
I’m looking to start fluke fishing, I’m in Asbury park but will be fishing Belmar inlet, beaches and manasquan inlet looking for a fluke rod I own a penn battle 3 3000 already need a good rod for it
So you would work the chicken rig the same way you work any other rig. What to put on each hook would depend on what the fluke are biting that day, I would always start with a white gulp on one hook and a pink shine gulp on the other. Then from there you can play around with the colors until you find what is working best. Thank you for watching! Best of luck on the water!
gulp juice , what is that ? Also, i left a couple fish laying on the sand near the water and in a few minutes they were covered with these tiny insects or creatures of some type
We don't do it very often, but we are going to be doing it more now. It's alot of fun! Yes you do need a beach tag. They are $5 a day or $30-40 for the season.
I only get 10 shore days a year, and our trip is coming up. The guides on my older surf combo busted last year and I picked up a cheap rod to get through the rest of the trip. I think it’s a 10’ Star rod, not sure the weight/action but it’s much smaller and lighter than the Penn. The Battle reel (6000?) from the combo is way too big for it- major wobble when reeling, so I ordered a Pursuit 3000 reel. (Super-tight budget this year as our flights alone cost considerably more than flights+car rental in years past). I’m hoping the 3000 will be more manageable for the rod, and I can use it as a lighter, more mobile set up for fluke in the suds. I’ll still chunk bunker/clams with the big combo, but I’m kinda tired of catching mostly dogfish and skates all the time and I’m looking to switch things up this year. If it turns out that the reel won’t work, can anyone recommend a budget 7-8’ medium rod that’ll work well (for a high/low rig with say a 1oz weight) and where to get it? I’ve always bought my gear from local shops but sadly, I’ll Walmart or Craigslist it to save the money this year. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
@@gabrielpichardo1492 I came across an 8’ med Berkeley Big Game for $23. I checked out a 7’ which was surprisingly light and sensitive, I figured the 8’ would be similar and help get out a bit further. If it’s too heavy to be mobile or too big for the reel it’ll just be a shorter and lighter bait chunker paired with my bigger reel. For $23 it’s worth a try. I can’t wait to feel the sand beneath my feet and for those first familiar “tap-taps” on the line. Been waiting for it since the day we left last summer.
