If you're considering buying this guitar, do it. I've owned this model twice and have also played it several times in stores. QC is spot on every single time and they play / sound amazing.
for the $ this model is hard to beat. It's so versatile and the build quality is amazing. Let's face it. Anything w/Yamaha on it is usually well built and is high quality.
Thanks Shane & Ben. I spied this Pacifica sitting around in your recent vids and was looking forward to you reviewing it. The pickup combo makes it a model I would be interested in.
I had one of these in purple. I seriously regret selling it. It was a stupid decision. I hope the guy who bought it (to play with his son) is loving it.
I have this guitar too with the hard tail. Great value for the $'s. Love the neck pickup. The bridge pickup is also quite good. Tapping the bridge pickup is one of the better ones I've tried. Ergonomics are very good. A comfortable guitar to play. Another plus is the finish. It' excellent! The biggest feature that made me buy it was the p90 neck pickup. It sounds great.
Hi there, that is a fantastic presentation of this guitar. These two pickups sound super nice and the Custom 5 also sounds really good when split, which is really rare to find. I love my 611 hfm in root beer. For 699 euros that's a hit 😍😍🙂👌 maybe I'll get a second one as a Reserve. Thanks 👍
Awesome guitar man... making it so hard to choose my favorite Yamaha..lol..love the revstars and the Pacificas are always so highly rated...this one takes it up a notch or 2... awesome tone
Those tuners benefit from a little bit of slack before tightening. Enough to give an extra half turn around the post. Much less likely to snap at the eyelet. I've had a similar problem with Kluson lockers as well.
Great sound, planning to buy it but what are the differences between this and the 311h? Is this just more good looking or it has some more features than the 311?
Shane, also a good tweak you've made to the formula, by showcasing Ben's playing with your analysis. Nothing against Ben's take, I just think Shane is probably the best guy to talk spec's while having Ben shine as the guy that demonstrates the guitar properly. Nice Gentlemen!
I loved my 611 in almost every respect - pickups were great, finish excellent, wonderfully light and great neck. Medium frets are surprisingly nice after playing modern strats with jumbo frets. I just couldn't cope with the nut width... Please Yamaha bring out the same guitar with a 42-43 mm for those of us with bigger hands!!!
Sounds good. Good playing. Damn though that p90 pickup cover makes this shyt look budget. Couldn’t they put a black cover on it so it just blends in? Lol
I love the look of this guitar, mainly because of the p90. I love the available tones as well. I’ve got a Yamaha electric which I stuck in it’s case in the cupboard after acquiring some more “prestige” equipment but recently got it out and I’m facing the reality that my Taiwanese Yamaha is every bit as playable, stable and great-sounding as the more premium alternatives.
I love my Yamahas. I’ve always wanted to upgrade this guitar… Looks good except for the goofy tortoise shell pick guard. Lots of people love them and think it looks classy but for my taste I would rather have a solid color with the flame top. The important thing is that it sounds amazing!
Awesome opening track Ben!!!! You are rocking that Jeff Beck vibe I really enjoy! That Pacifica has a cool pick up combination that would be a welcome addition to any collection!!! Great job Shane and Ben!!!🎸🎸🎸🎸🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
I’m considering getting this electric guitar or a black Takamine GD30-BLK Dreadnought Acoustic guitar, I might end up buying both (in different periods of time ofcourse 😅) I really love acoustics and electrics. I’m trying to get a new full sized guitar cause I just started playing on my old acoustic guitar again (I’m relearning guitar) and it’s a little too small (it’s 3/4 and I got it when I was 9 💀)
My favorite strat style guitar is an old PAC112 neck on a newer 112M body with a hot hummer and two rails... just a great easy playin' bar gig monster :)
I'll never understand makers who use pickup covers that OBVIOUSLY don't go with the color scheme. Yamaha should use black P90 covers on this black version & on their dark purple model. 🎨
I've got a 311 and it's now my regular gigging guitar. In natural timber finish and I swapped out the bridge pickup for a Seymour Duncan zebra that sounds great and looks good against the cream P90.
I have a 311 also, the pickups are Yamaha alnico 5 rather than the Duncan’s, which is the primary difference. It feels like a premium guitar compared to the Squiers I have tried.
Every test on youtube of this guitar forget to test the middle possition with the split coil of the bridge activated.... Great guitar overall. I have it and I only miss better pots & electronics.
I have the 612 (HSS) version of this, good guitar. My only complaint is fret buzz all up and down the neck and the old fashion heel joint. Otherwise, it sounds and feels pretty good!
@@BoltRM absolutely, just haven't gotten around to it. It's definitely a great guitar though. I kinda wish I got the 611 myself though for that p90!! lol sounds so good!
yamaha has a branding issue. FOr years the pacifica has been seen as a "beginner guitar" and little else, when in reality they are amazing guitars for a bunch of different levels. Built extremely well and are reliable
surprise you didn’t review the lefty version of this guitar 🎸 it does come in left handed although i don’t think it’s as high quality as the one that’s reviewed
Talking about getting a single coil tone by splitting the humbucker.......... Isn't the p90 also a single coil? So you're already kind of getting that sound more or less. I'm not trying to be a smart-ass I'm just trying to understand the variety of tones this guitar can offer because I actually just ordered one from Sweetwater and I'm waiting for it to arrive.

It is quite frustrating when you go out to try to buy a guitar and you go to UA-cam to see the reviews to find millions of reviews who will not tell you the most important information that you need to know whether to purchase a guitar. It is like they are purposely preventing you from getting to the truth of this guitar as a sort of ocean of pollution. Everyone knows that all you need to know in this case is are the frets good? Are the fret ends sharp? Is there buzzing? And you need to know from a number of different samples. Philip McKnight is one of the only ones to check all the frets for buzzing with a fret rocker. @@keithcostanza96 well I think the sheer number of UA-cam videos that are all doing the same thing means that it's successful to do so - in other words when people shop they have no idea what they're doing and they just buy whatever sounds good by the person playing. It's why when they sell cars you might see a beautiful woman. When they sell soda you see kids playing on the beach playing volleyball. People are fundamentally irrational and irresponsible.
Owned one, gave it to my nephew. As in for free. It's not an inspiring instrument. Tuning stability is seriously lacking with the trem. The SD pickups are decent, but nothing special. The coil split was pretty much useless due to significantly lower output. It's not remotely a premium guitar; I would say it's more of a good entry level guitar for those looking to step outside of the box of Squire or cheaper Epiphones lines.
I owned that identical guitar and loved it. But the headstock always made me FEEL like I was playing such a cheap and cheesy guitar. I mean, it says PACIFICA with "yamaha guitar development" under it...and a big, round Yamaha logo. Gotta make it look more professional or cool. The one in the anime is the 611vfm model but the pickguard and the p90 cover were changed for a black one

Have to agree with you. My Yamaha 12 string acoustic still sounds fantastic after 40 years. Quality gear.
Never played a bad Yamaha guitar.
That's a great pickup combination. Some nice tones coming out here. These guitars really should be more popular.
Oh man,I've been slowly falling in love with Yamaha, old peveay,g&l guitars

Great demo. Great playing. Great hair too by the way!

Good news is that they have a really cheap resale value and Yamaha does not know how to make a dud. I have this one and it's my #1.
Amazing build quality with top components. This guitar rivals others that cost 1-2 k more.
Love my lefty Pacifica 112L I had modded. Filtertron in the neck pickup and a nice matte Sedona Red. That P90 sounds snarly!
Love that little snippet of Heaven on Their Minds. Such a great riff.
Great playing, Ben...I've noticed your a little sweeter like Santana sound where Shane leans towards a more heavy blues. Both are cool!
Good review but more info from Ben regarding his issue with Gotoh locking tuners would've been helpful.
