While this isn't quite a "dream bike", and it's more of experiment, we wanted to share our Specialized Enduro MX build with you...Full article here: www.mtb-mag.co...
I've been running the exact same setup (SW enduro w/ wrp link and dhx2) as you for about 6 months now. Definetly the best bike i've ever ridden, sick to see more people picking up on it!
Awesome build! Thanks for the initial thoughts. I’ve been curious to try this out. I’m 5’-8” on a size S3 2021 enduro and have always wondered what it would feel like with a MX setup. I think I just might try it after watching this😂
I've got PTSD with "mullet style" from my old-school DH days. I used to ride a Santa Cruz Super 8 with the 26" front and 24" rear. I know this is an EXTREME case of "mulletism" but mad that rear wheel really hung up of thing so much more than the front wheel did. Also, here in Colorado we do A LOT of climbing and I just can't get past the idea that it's not going to climb as well as a straight up 29'er. I have a dedicated DH bike so my Guerrilla Gravity Gnarvana is my trail/enduro bike and it can do pretty much anything including climb fairly well, even tho I'm a shitty climber. Nice edit BTW, well done!!
Hey thanks! Hmmm. Well, I do think 26" and 24" wheels hung up a ton more both front and rear because they were so much smaller than what we're riding today. Also - given that the link corrects the geometry, I haven't found any decreased performance in climbing. Yes there is slightly less roll over, but it also accelerates a touch quicker as well.
very nice! I just like coil shocks and putting it to enduro bike makes a lot of sense! About mullet setup - tried it but it is not for me sadly. I am not tall enough and the bike felt very sluggish almost impossible to make turns. Anyway the idea is good.
Awesome idea! I have a 2020 Enduro and I am quite intrigued 🤔. Wanted to ask you what trails your riding in the clips, I live in Spokane and want to venture out a bit at some point. They look very fun!
Personally, I like it better. It's a bit more fun - manuals, corners and jumps better. I think the combination of the coil shock and the increased rearward arcing travel make it seem just as fast/capable as full 29. I'd be curious to do some back to back runs, but I think this is the way to go.
That’s the way that kenevo should come as a MX, i have a santacruz bullit cc and love that bike with MX set up, but i own a yeti 160e and had the same mistake as kenevo sl as 29er. I changed to a 27.5x28” at the rear mt 160e. Both bikes kenevo and yeto 160e were on the test for long periot of time that the were focosing with 29er, but not MX class that kept working perfect pn ebikes
Hey man, nice vid. Just bought the 2022 Enduro and will mullet it. Was looking at the wrp link but some say you can only run it in the low setting mode of flip chip. Is this the case?
Kid at the races last year got his bike run over by a camera guy. Specialized only had one bike to send him. It was a blue 2023 enduro. Thet wouldn't tell him the Name of the blue color when they shipped. No coil shock tho.
Awesome video! I have a S5 enduro, and this MX move interests me. Would it new rear shock if I went made it 27.5? I have the rockshock ultiamte 170mm rear?
At the time of filming, I had 2.6 front and rear, which I think would be good for the bike park. Lately for longer rides that have been pedal powered, I've been on 2.4 and very happy with it. Can't go wrong with either.
Complete waste of money for me,i bought the wrp link to improve cornering on my s4 as we run tight twisting trails. I was told that i could run my shock (x2)in high or low but it would not fit in high, well it would but couldn't get a sheet of a4 paper between linkage and chainstays on a 4k frameset, dont think so , to run in low defeated the purpose slackening the bike and lowering the bb . I got a middle spacer made for it and still couldn't get enough clearance to be safe. If you are happy to run in low setting it might suit but to be honest the small wheel definitely hangs up more. Waste of alot of money
Sick build! Love companies like WRP and Cascade components to allow us to get wild with our bikes
Thanks for sharing with us! Killer build.

Yep. It's an insane setup. Hopefully we see more mullet bikes in the enduro category coming down the pipe...
Salut sa serai pour savoir les avantages et les inconvénients que t’as eu en le passant en mulets

Heck yeah - go for it!
Cool mullet set up the best 29r front and 27.5 rear.but due to my height i change back to 27.5 straight.🤘🤘🤘
Had my Kenevo SL set up like this since I got it. Running a Zeb up front and a Cane Creek Katsumi coil out back. It's a badass bike.
That sounds really really fun.

@@mtb-mag Good to know. 👍🏼
Hell yeah that is a sick Enduro. I like mullet on a E bike. I may try it on my pedal bike too.

It felt sluggish with a link to correct the geometry? Or did you just drop a 27.5 in? Because that would be pretty slack and floppy.

Cancourse at Canfield!
Would like to know more about how the mix wheel rides vs the 29's ?
Personally, I like it better. It's a bit more fun - manuals, corners and jumps better. I think the combination of the coil shock and the increased rearward arcing travel make it seem just as fast/capable as full 29. I'd be curious to do some back to back runs, but I think this is the way to go.

Hi, i love the build, will it be different if the frame sized for 27.5 but paired with 29er fork?
Can I put 27.5 front and rear ?
Do you think this helps that weird front center geo of the enduro that makes it hard to keep the front wheel planted?
Also shout out to Rhode Fab of Edgewater, MD who made the mullet link first before WRP did. Support USA made and designed.
Nice! Hadn't heard of them. Will be sure to pass on to friends in the states.

Safe to say the WRP link works with the Kenevo SL??
Awesome video! I have a S5 enduro, and this MX move interests me. Would it new rear shock if I went made it 27.5? I have the rockshock ultiamte 170mm rear?
You don't need a different rear shock for a mullet conversions. Just a new link.
So nice! What is the width of your magic marry in the front? Don t know which to choose between 2.4 and 2.6 for the front wheel for my spe enduro
At the time of filming, I had 2.6 front and rear, which I think would be good for the bike park. Lately for longer rides that have been pedal powered, I've been on 2.4 and very happy with it. Can't go wrong with either.
Would you rock this setup even if the bike wasn't a Mullet?
Yep! I ran it as 29" a bunch and it still rips.
What size were you running? and how tall are you?
S4 @ 6' tall with a 40mm length stem.
SInce it's a mullet can i swaps the 29'er front to a 27.5..?

Doesn’t it say on the link page that it is supposed to be ran in the lower position though ?
Too gushy of a bike to warrant a mullet set-up...Stumpy Evo is definitely better for this.
Interesting take, but a whole lot of World Cup DH races have been won on Mullets....
Im looking into this at the moment my only concern is the effect on its climbing ability ?
Climbing isn’t much different, also depends if ur running ur current setup in high or low
@@jayse66 currently running high setting too many pedal strikes in low
Unaffected. The link and it's included shock hardware corrects the geometry.
