I’m a simple man, I saw Whistler Bike Park in the title. I clicked. This year with the virus i can’t get to go to Whistler, it’s frustrating cause it’s been 3years that I go to WBP and do a 13hrs flight to go there but not this year...
I just rode Hafjell Bike Park here in Norway on a 130r/160f trail bike for the first timeand did all the same lines I do on my DH bike. It rode surprisingly well when I hit my lines, but it was when I missed them slightly I felt how big of a difference it is! Also I got A LOT more tired in my upper body on the trailbike and I was also quite a bit slower on the really fast and techy sections. Trailbike: Revel Rascal DH bike: Intense M16c
Confidence is everything and I could tell that your Confidence was not on the same level as when you're on the downhill bike. Its crazy how the mind can get in the way although you do have the skills to ride well on either bike. 180 up front and out back is plenty capable
@VanCan, you're about 5 years late to the enduro in the bike park train :).... in all seriousness, I bought a Pivot Firebird in 2017 with the intention of making it my only mountain bike. I live in a city apartment with limited storage, so having a bike I could take to the park (where I do much of my riding) but also would be serviceable trail riding was of great importance. I don't regret the choice one bit, as it handles 90% of the park features with ease and is a serviceable, albiet slow climber. If you have the space and cash, obviously a quiver of bikes for all varieties of riding will serve you better, especially in the Gnar of Whistler. You will have to make the decision that fits your lifestyle best. Cheers!
I usually ride a 140/160 bike at a DH park and can do the black/double black tech trails pretty easily...although easier on a DH bike. Also most park jumps can be ridden on a XC bike, just need the speed (and not to come up short)
Great vid. I use a 2016 Specialized Enduro in bike parks exclusively. I did change the front forks to a Fox 36 factory and the rear to a RS Monarch RC3 Plus. Both are 160mm travel. I do run the rear Shock in the low compression and slow rebound, with 30% sag. 30% sag for the front, with 3 tokens. I have to say, the setup feels great, esp on the tech trails. The bike is a little twitchy on the jumps, but you will get used to that.
Just brought my enduro to whistler for 3 days. Thing handled it no problem. It felt better on everything except tight turns. Compared to my 27.5 patrol
The dh bike in the phillippines is hard to come buy cuz we don't kind of lift we use a motor bike to get to the trails but the trail in the phillippines its so narly that we often destroyed our bikes
Great video! Can you please tell me what music you are using. My son really likes the song at the end of the video. He is seven and watches all of your content.
I started riding last year. Thinking about getting a full suspension by the end of the year. One day I want to hit whistler because it looks simply epic, but I've never been. Part of me is too nervous to even think about it.
1st of all LOVE the sprinkle of 3rd person shots. They totally make the video. Excellent editing and filming 👌. Second, I much prefer big sends on "small" bikes to DH plowing unless it's world cup insanity. Keep riding the Enduro!
enduro bikes are so capable now , think that video shows you just need time to adjust to the lighter feel , but at the end on dirt merchant you were hauling , and clearing massive jumps with ease , as you said the 29'" wheels are definably a factor especially on a windy day , great video as always
I have a 19’ GT Fury carbon DH and my custom built 20’ Reign Advanced carbon. I have more fun throwing my reign around in the park. At 180/160 its no slouch in the park and being custom built it just fits better too. Super fun seeing you and others throwing around enduros!
I’ll always be most excited to see a DH bike, personally. That being said, a send is a send ☺️ Sick video and sick riding bro! Keep the awesome content coming!
Well you definitely don’t need a downhill for whistler, go watch gmbn, where Blake does it on a hard tail or skillwithphil, who does it on a 160 mm enduro bike
That was awesome, especially on Dirt Merchant and your last higher speed footage on A-Line. I only ride my Santa Cruz Nomad at Whis as I live in SK and need a one bike quiver - have even ridden it a month straight in WBP. I wonder how fast you could do all of A-Line on the Enduro and the DH. Could be a great little race. I’d love to see that comparison on A-Line for sure, maybe Dirt Merchant and Schleyer too if you wanted a longer video. Your channel is slaying it either way.
Holy cow u post at 4am...well 7am eastern time I guess. Glad I happen to be up for my ride this morning, got start early here this time of year. By 6am at least.
Eirik Folkedal this was his point i think, that the ‘DH worthy trails’, which DH bikes are designed for, are world cup tracks and the steepest/roughest stuff out there... but 90% of the time this isn’t where they’re used
Can't say about a esthetically pleasing to watch because in videos I usually look at the trail, not the bike From a rider's perspective (disclaimer though, I'm not a good rider): I always rode a trail bike and it always felt good. Then I wanted to try a coil shock so I rented a dh bike at a bike park. This thing felt so much better it's not even comparable. I felt so much more stable and safe and especially since I'm not very good, I felt like I could ride more aggressive because the bike was way more forgiving with my mistakes. I never felt so good on a bike before Never tried a proper Enduro before, though my trail bike is kinda close to one
I think it’s just easier for most viewers to relate to enduro or trail bikes because most of us only have one bike, and don’t live close to bike parks, so enduro bike it is. Plus when you watch other channels where they are riding trail bikes and keeping up with pros that are on DH bikes, it’s all that much more impressive to watch.
I've ridden my 160/160 enduro a handful of times at Angel Fire. It's 'enough' to get the job done (and I don't think I'd want less...), but it is also quite a bit more fatiguing compared to a DH bike. I'm a little more hesitant to send things, and my body is a bit more worn out at the end of the day. For park laps, give me the DH.
Another great Vid . Personally I think a Enduro bike can do everything that a Dh bike can . The biggest advantage that a DH bike has over a Enduro bike is Durability ie Wheels ,Frame components etc . If your smashing bikeparks all the time your Enduro bike will defo get wrecked but like I said on any given track performance wise there isn't much in it .
HI, have you ever ridden the 2020 RM Element C-90? i have a 2019 Instinct BC and thinking of a lighter and shorter travel bike in addition to the BC. Demers in Canada has a 2020 C-90 leftover, just wondering how it compares to other short travel bikes in that caregory? I am in the US but Demers is the ONLY place that has the C-90 version, same as the 2021 except for the paint.
Sick edit nicely done. As for the enduro in Whistler. I say bring both for the weekend ride the shit out of the DH. When it breaks put it in the shop and now you have a back up. This way you can bring us more awesome vids.
Rode my Giant Reign there last year as it’s the only bike I have. This year I have a 2020 enduro. I figure ride whatever you’ve got and have fun. I’d I had a DH bike for sure I’d use it in whistler! My 12yo rode it on a 120 travel basic fully and still hit the jumps and had a hell of a time 👍 #ridewhatyagot
Well tubeless is better at puncture protection and sealing than any tubes system. Also, tubolito tubes are meant to be ultralight spares, not full use tubes. Kind of like the spare tire in a car.
@@JustAGlitchFL Tires equipped with tannus armor inserts and tubolito tubes are more puncture resistant than tubeless. Tubolito tubes are not meant as only spares, they're completely functional tubes that are lighter and more puncture resistant than butyl tubes. Tubolito tubes also don't lose air quickly like tubeless or especially latex tubes. Even the extra light version of tubolito tubes is as puncture resistant as butyl tubes. Tannus armor inserts come in tubed and tubeless versions, the tubed version was released before the tubeless version. But like any tubeless insert, it doesn't help all that much in the way of puncture resistance. It's mainly to protect the rim, and maybe prevent burping.
I have a kinda sad but funny story. When I was little, I went on a vacation and one of the stops was Whistler. I didn't know anything about it, and at that time, I barely knew how to ride a bike. I was so surprised when this dude rode up 3 stairs, I was like WOWOWOW. So in conclusion, I've been to Whistler, but not ridden there. I hope I ride there in the future.
My 2020 Enduro Elite is also being replaced with a black S-Works under warranty. You seem to be the only other person on the planet with the black scheme. So, Is the frame more gloss or Matt? (Need to choose an invis finish before I see the bike)
Thanks for sharing that, exactly the answer I was looking for👊. My story is similar, LBS have been amazing, Specialized authorised the warranty within days, they are replacing with and S-Works...... but I’ve had to wait 2 months for it. LBS have have kept me going with loaners and my hardtail has been getting pummelled!! Thanks again.
good video. the only thing i gotta say about the dh bikes is that. yes, you can ride any bike you want at a bike park even a 130mm trail bike. but the dh bike will handle and take the abuse way longer than an trail or even an enduro bike. enduro bikes are super capable, but when it comes to smashing tons of bike park laps, a dh bike will take the abuse waaay longer

Interesting to see you having to make some adjustments to your riding and bike to feel comfortable on the jumplines. I would think that the enduro would fair "better" on the jumplines than the Tues, and vice versa on the tech. Curious to hear your thoughts on if you would have a DH bike if you only went to a BP a handful (say less than 10x) times a year, and if proximity to a premier BP really lends itself to owning one since there would be less wear/tear on your trail bike. I recently spent a few days thrashing my trail bike (170/150mm at Mammoth ua-cam.com/video/nMQ_Z5rzgao/v-deo.html ;) ) on some gnarlier park DH and could see that wear and tear thing being a real deal.
Enduro bikes are great for jump trails cause you can throw them around alot easier then a big rig. But I wouldn't own a enduro for a bike park, I've only taken my enduro to 2 bike parks and both times ive tacoed my wheels and broken bits. The DH bike is just built for downhill and can take the abuse.
Why do you like dh so much better? Just that extra length and bit of travel makes it more stable at speed ? going there next week and thought about renting an enduro as I’ve primarily ridden hardtails out east the last 10 years so was thinking smaller bike might be more fun on the jumps. Unlike a lot of UA-cam this video makes me think maybe not then...
Not a problem for those who are clipless. For me, though, on flats, the more jump lines, the more wear. I seem to lose my grip in midair after a few tabletops and have to adjust. It seems like a foot will come off slightly and pin in on an angle, if i get bucked.
My first weekend in 2003 was a Kona Chute HT stock. I had fun and it's a place where different bikes give different experiences. No right bike since it's not a race.
I love my enduro bike to bits... But there’s no way I’m gonna choose it over the 200/200mm coil-sprung Aurum with a 63 degree HTA, set up on Assegai Maxx grips and Cushcore. I only ride the DH bike in the park, but I think it’s okay to have a dedicated park bike. Nothing takes the hits and does tech better.
I agree. If you've got the means to own both bikes, it's worth it. The beating the Enduro takes isn't worth taking it as well as the beating the fingers/wrists/arms take!
If I am not mistaken in the previous vid. The original frame of his enduro cracked and when he returned it to Specialized they gave him an S-works frame instead of the original frame. This is the reason why you might be wondering why the components did not match the frame. Hope that helps! 😊
@vancan - Highly recomemend galfer race pads and getting a 220mm rotor for the front and moving the 200 to the back, you can use the 20mm bracket for the larger rear rotor and then you just need the 40mm bracket for the 220mm front rotor.
A dh bike is a dh bike. Thanks for this. Dudes who say their trailbikes ride like dh bikes aint shlt 🤣 Dual crowns and bike parks are a heavenly match.

Why does he have a S-Works frame but not the S-Works components?
If I am not mistaken in the previous vid. The original frame of his enduro cracked and when he returned it to Specialized they gave him an S-works frame instead of the original frame. This is the reason why you might be wondering why the components did not match the frame. Hope that helps! 😊
Warranty replacement frame, he explains how it happened in one of his previous videos

Ok, thanks gyus
I bet you could rip the enduro like your tu es if you rode it more. But DH has its place. Smash and dash!
@vancan - Highly recomemend galfer race pads and getting a 220mm rotor for the front and moving the 200 to the back, you can use the 20mm bracket for the larger rear rotor and then you just need the 40mm bracket for the 220mm front rotor.
Nice and Sendy!
the musik at the start haha
If you do t ride the sworks can I buy it? I don’t have a bike and I want one bad. I know you will say no because I could only give like 1800
