Thank you so much for this video. Was out with my little girls and this happened(Exactly), barely made it home. I was going to buy a new throttle body($250). Then I sat down one more time and searched up my issue. My prayers were answered when I saw this video, honestly almost skipped through it, but my daughter said" Wait and just watch it before you mess up the car more lol. From the mouth of babes. So I truly want to thank you for saving me lots of time and money I don't have to spend on chasing car problems. I would have changed throttle body and still would have had same issue. Very much appreciated! 10 thumbs up from all of us.
You area genius!!! I have spent 8 months and over a thousand dollars and nothing fixed it. I tugged on this wire and bam off it pulled. Regrounded like you and FIXED!!!! You just saved me $50k for buying a new car! THANK YOU!!!!!
I'm glad to hear that! I bet YOU looked like the genius when you fixed what the others couldn't!
Lll
Wish I could buy a new truck everytimw mine broke
Mine just did this to me yesterday. Before it had said service Stabili Trak. I have changed all plugs and bolts and did the same as you, run grounds. Tonight I’m going to try this ground as I did not know it was there. I hope it fixes the issue!!
I have a brand new truck doing this. Not even 900 miles on it
You sir are a God send! I’ve spent years and more money than I’d like to admit trying to figure out this problem. It was the exact same ground wire on my Tahoe that needed fixing. My Tahoe runs better than it has in years and now I’m not scared to hit a bump lol. Many many thank yous to you sir!
My dad JUST came to me with this issue. This video helped a lot. Thanks!
Within the first few sentences, I knew you had the same problem. Thank you for posting this video. I'm going out, right now to try this fix!
Thank you so much! This just happened to me at Walmart! I moved the ground and all the dash lights went off. It allowed me to get home and fix this issue. Thank you so much.
Thank so much for all your hard work! Because this just happened to me it took days and I am not as experienced as you to think of a ground. And was thinking about taking it in to a shop the I stumbled onto your video and well thanks alot man saved me alot of money!!!
Good deal!
I have a 2011 silverado that was doing the same thing.Took it to the dealership and they replaced the ECU, The Throttle body and the gas pedal still no fix. Then they replaced the wires from the throttle body to the ECM.It worked for a week but went back to doing the same thing.Took it to another mechanic (lost faith in the dealership) he worked on it and it worked for another 2 weeks then did the same thing except then you would have to hold the key in the start position for about 3 seconds before it would crank. Watched YOUR video and sure enough it was the problem.Thank you for this video and if you are ever in the New Orleans area I owe you a few drinks and a good dinner!
Thank you for the info will try that on my 2003 Tahoe , just a question do i need to run cable from under car or i can cut on top and run to a new ground i think i miss that part thank you
@@leonelmartinez397 I cut mine at the top and ran a ground to the motor. There were two wires ran to that ground but I think it was the thinner wire giving the problem.
@@The1bambam ok thank you
Good to hear it resolved your issue. I went to New Orleans a few years ago and it was a wild time!
Thankyou my friend i owe you a case of corona
Omg you are Genius my truck been down 6 months and 3 mechanics couldn’t find the problem I pay about 2,000 to diagnose and nothing and then saw your video and boom a cable it’s all it need it thank you thank you
So Awesome! Thank you for putting this video out there! On the way back from a long trip and issues hit as I was just getting home. Thought it was going to be an expensive and head banging ordeal. First video I saw and boom fixed! Didn’t even have to get dirty. Rock and roll.
That’s awesome! I’m glad the video helped you get it going again! Thanks for watching!
Lots of people paid lots of money to have the problem fixed only to find that it really wasn't fixed. Kudos to you for posting the video. I'm wondering if the same (or similar) DTC's were present in these cases and if so, was a wiring chart reviewed to see what the common ground point was. Sometimes, a little research can yield great 'knowledge' and success in a correct diagnosis and repair.
Thank you for charing your knowledge, I had parked my tahoe for 2 months thinking how much I was going to spend fixing it, and thanks to you video I was able to fix it in less than 30 minutes, thank you somuch
Thank you for sharing this video. This was doing the same exact thing mine was doing. Other videos wouldn’t show what the truck was doing , just said reduced power fix , I figured this one was no different , but when I watched and it showed that it was doing exactly what mine was doing , I knew this would fix my problem.
Thank you so much for sharing this video. It saved me a lot of money. My truck had been sitting over a month , could not figure it out , I put fuel pump fuel filter crankshaft sensor camshaft sensor and was gonna change the box under the left hinge , that was when I seen this video , after watching over 40 videos I found this one. You saved me a lot more money or saved me from scrapping a good truck.
👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️
That's great! Thanks for the feedback!
Thank you soooo much , Glad i found this video before i bought a new throttle body or gas pedal , you saved me alot of money,, A snow storm was coming and i didn't know what i was going to do ,,, this was exactly what was wrong with my truck. this mourning my truck wouldn't even turn over , took me about 15 mins to fix it ..
That’s great! Thanks for watching!
dude you are my hero. I bought a used 2003 tahoe long bed for a good price but have sunk almost 3k into it trying to solve this issue.
Man Thank YOU!!!! Sweet 8lb 6oz baby Jesus i was about to take a wrecking ball to this Suburban. Over a year and 4 mechanics later...yet you solved my problem. God bless you brother 👍
That’s awesome! I’m glad the video helped you out!
Amazing insight. Thanks a million for posting this video. My problem is solved and I am on the road.
630 in the morning...truck acts up...-7 outside...this video was perfect...exactly what the problem was..thank you
I experienced this issue for the first time ever in my pickup today as I was going to my new job and thought I was fucked. The wire turned that around immediately. You sir ensured I got to work.
Yes! This video just saved my day!
Thank you, Muchas Gracias my friends truck had the same issue and that ground wire was the problem like you showed on the video, God Bless you for sharing your experience, knowledge and your precious time
Ahhh finally, my ground wire had did the same thing. I have spent so much money over the past yr on this problem and nothing fixed it. I just now found this video, did the appropriate steps and this fixed it.

Man thank you for this got a 05 Chevy Tahoe my 3rd Tahoe and I never seen this issue thought the motor was locked up due to it not wanting to crank starter sounded like it was trying to start a locked up motor by far a good video man it was my problem and solution
The o’llll where there’s you’re problem line vids are the best thanks brother

Thank you Amigo. Greetings from Texas.
Amazing. Someone was telling me to swap the engine. You saved me my friend!
Yes yes yes , my 2006 gmc reduce engine power came right on the highway, I had changed throttle sensor, from all those videos I saw , Thank you Sir because You saved me a lot of money , It was that little cable, today. THANKS
Hey guy heres 100 👍to your informational video, it was poiny on & fuxed our truck immediately, so 1000 thank you's to you!
Fixed my rig thanks to your video bless you sir
Awesome video! My 05 has been driving me crazy saw this video found a black wire coming out of the harness with a little white tracer I’m assuming that’s the ground wire that is broken and I’m going to try it soon as I get home from work thank you for the help
It worked. Saved me $$$.
Thank you
Awesome, thanks!
Thank you very much your video still saving lives and money 🙏
Mine kept dieing intermittently when I would punch it off the line, thought it was just bad fuel but the ominus Power Reduction message appeared and I limped back home. Checked for that wire but everything was beautiful, looked at my relays and the fuel pump relay was cattywompus lol. Fixed it but wanted to say You have a unique style of teaching (Less BS) Subscribed...
Thank you and glad to hear you got yours sorted out!
That just happened to me today same truck but done up thanks man your great help
I’m having the same problem. I will give this a shot!!
Thank You so much! Very informative!
Thank you sir , I fixed my big problem , thank you for share , blessings!
Just ran across your video. My daughter's 02 gmc yukon xl 5.3 is doing the same thing. But she has other issues, the whole right side of engine is dead. Got voltage to the coils and injectors, but no signal to coils, injectors and throttle body sensor. Thanks for sharing.
Really helpful information and easy to fix 👍 👌 🙂 😀
My 2008 Silverado just had this happen. Thanks for the advice.
Thanks so much for this video! Fixed my employers 3500!
Thanks so much for your help. Just happened to me follow your video I have the result. Again thanks a lot
Thank You Sir!!! Thanks for sharing it!!
Going to the shop tomorrow morning. Hope the fix is this simple ground issue. Thanks for the video!
How did you make out?
@@Tomsfoolery. P2138... still try to search for the multiple problems that can trigger that code. So far thought it was a particular wire, it wasn't it happened again. Staying faithful, have to strike gold at some point I figure!
The art of self-reliance is missing from this world. It's one wire what I did was I went in the backyard and ripped the wire off the old washing machine that already had a nice round fitting on it and I done used the son of a bitch fix the truck now it's after I found my boots underneath the Camaro where I was taking a nap to stay out of the sun well the tractor idled away gallons diesel throughout the week running and running never turned off that's the way I handle my business
@@SS-vp4eu Dude, you are another Albert Einstein. I'll bet your IQ is over 200.
Thank you, just started having this issue will check the ground!
Hopefully that is all it is. There are so many things that could cause the reduced power issue.
Man you would not believe the stuff I replaced! Thank you so much
You're welcome!!
I’m having the same issue i have a Cadillac Escalade 07 and and suddenly lights came up engine power is reduced please help me I’ve changed everything
Thanks bro! I just had to re-tape mine!
Thank you so much for the help on this, does the engine light ever come off?
Hey, I'm broke down working out of town. I can't find that wire but I wiggled that harness and my gauges stopped, now if I turn the key on my 4wd lights and doors and everything works but when I start it they all stop. Do you think it could all be one problem? Thank you so much
Super common the eyelet rots off them where they attach to the back of the cylinder head I spent a long time on a Silverado the first time I ran into this problem now when customers come in and explain there problem to me if they have that era truck almost every time it’s that ground. I’ve seen it probably 30-40 times now over that last ten years. It’s crazy how that one little ground causes all those problems
Hi there I have one question for you would it be a smart move for me to possibly splice the wire since I can get directly to the back of the motor & connect it to the firewall on my 03 Tahoe
Thanks a million
Thank you for sharing!
I’m having a similar problem with my 8.1 vortec losing power to the cluster and going into limp mode. Do you know if this is a similar problem!
My 01 Tahoe loose voltage when stopped ... Do you think it has something to do with ground... Already replaced alternator and battery
rockstar youre a rockstar saved me diagnostic and tow. took me 5 minutes. 2006 sierra crew cab exact same wire
That’s great! Thanks for the feedback!
Awesome!!!Thank you
Dude! I definitely owe you lunch lol. I gave the wire a light tug and off it came. I've been chasing this problem for days!
Sweet! I'll take a cheeseburger. lol
My son has called two days in a row from school describing this problem. When I drive it nothing happens. He has speed bumps at school. Can’t wait to see if this is the problem. If it is god bless you
Great catch, But what was the wire connection to?? Ignition??
03 sierra
Same issue legend you are sir
I had the same problem I. My 03 tahoe
Traced down a a bad alternator harness plug...replaced it...works great now
That’s good information, thanks!
I have a 2007 Yukon xl apparently when I drive it like 20 minutes power reduce down idle issue n etc but when I push the gas won’t do nothing unless ,I turn it off n wait 20 minutes I’ll work perfect but after another 20 minutes it does the same issue I had change the throttle body still doing the same thing what could it be .Thank you
I got a Chevy Express van ang it worked thanks a lot
Thanks for the great info , but did some one knows from where is that wire come from? i would like to know the circuit diagram explaining what was this wire doing , that way it can help looking for that cable in others gm truck models ,thanks.
Thank you so much solved my problem
That's great!
Dude your awesome 👌
Omg you have that old school soldier...how cool
Super video! I applauded for $5.00 👏👏
Thank you! I appreciate the support!
THANK YOU!!
Do I have to Sauder it or can I just twist them together with another wire with black electric tape?
I have a '04 Escalade. I shall try this. Thank you sir! Blessings! Thank you thank you thank you. I'll let you know if it works 🤣. I saw the same wire loose but didn't realize that could be it! Let me try! 🤣
I ha e an 04 escalade with this problem too....but only on start up, not on bumps. Let me know what you found!
Hello my issues is that when I'm towing or going up hill if I step on the pedal and trying to Accelerate kinda hard the reduce power come on I just pull over trun off what a minute and it's gone I have to baby the pedal if I'm pulling alot of weight and I have a brand new throttle body? Is that normal? truck drive good with out the weight I could actually step on it or I'm not using the lower gears to help with the weight?
I've redone every ground on my Tahoe and still problems.. I was never able to find that one, and my vortec cover don't come off.. I didn't realize the nut stays on the cover.. lol will try that before ABS wheel sensor and ebcm fix..
Started my 2017 Silverado last night and it did this. However, I think mine is tied to something else. I used a fuse tap from a constant power cicuit (BCM I think) to run a circuit for my dashcam. I think the fuse tap may have created an issue to where it doesn't get a good connection in the fuse slot sometimes. My first problems I noticed was that my remote start wasn't working, windshield washer fluid pump wasn't working and I was getting O2 sensor faults. Wiggling on the fuse tap made the issue go away.
When this reduced power issue happened last night, I wiggled a lot of my fuses and the issue went away. Not sure which one remedied the issue, but I'm guessing it was the BCM circuit I had issues with before.
I just put two new ground wires and a new battery on my 05 Silverado 5.3 motor. It started right up but this same light came on! I'm gonna try this tomorrow and see if the light goes out. Thank you
Thank You Sir!

I have a 2006 Silverado truck and before I started getting reduced engine power, I had for years the dash saying, "Service Brake System." Here I am years later and now I'm getting reduce engine power but what I have noticed is when it happens, I just pull over and restart the engine and the truck works as normal again. I don't have the noise that this truck experience. The only symptom I experienced was that my speed would just reduce to a much slower speed. I noticed this would happen more often when I would travel great distances not necessarily due to hitting a bump. Do you think I could still have the same issue with a ground wire?
intermittant intake sensor message have you come across this message and remedy?
My 2006 silverado is doing this. The wire you found is not the problem on mine. I need more info on all those additional grounds you ran yourself.... what all did you ground and how?
My Chevy Avalanche Reduced Engine Power light came on this morning. Never had an issue before. Was having trouble with it starting so i think I may need a new battery, but didn't know if the battery may be causing that to happen as well? What do i know? I am trying this when I get home from work to see if it fixes the issue.
Mine just did this this morning reduced power and check engine light came on would the ground be the same issue I just replaced my plugs and wires last week my buddy said it could be a plug or wire that came loose why the power loss light came on any help please liked and subbed
Hey I have a 2003 chevy silverado. I just replaced the MAF and the throttle body....it got dark on me so I was not able to check anything out. How do I clear the check engine light and the reduced engine power? Should this auto clear? Do I need to reset the idle? If so, how? Thanks!! Your videos great by the way! Good job! 👍 My dad was a mechanic so I remember a little bit....but we have no contact and I replaced this myself. So...any helpful hints would be great! Thank you!! 😊
Thank you for the video! I am having the same issue but it started with my ABS light coming on after taking a sharp or bumpy turn. I will check the ground wires and the throttle body flange BUT do you think the ABS light is connected somehow to a ground issue; maybe the same one for the the reduced engine power? Obviously you cannot diagnose properly but thoughts?
Did you ever figure it out? My abs light turns on when I hit bumps and just recently it says reduced engine power
Would this apply to a chevy traverse bc mine is doing this?
What kind of scanner are you using ??😮
I have a 2018 suburban this just happened to me 30 minutes ago, except my truck is shaking. And my fan is staying on because the temperature gauge is stuck on 0. Could this be the same issue?
Is this just on the 03-06 trucks? I have a newer body style 07 but not seeing this ground wire in that spot.
I love this channel name
Thanks! My 16 year old son came up with the name when I told him I wanted to change it about a year ago.
what kind of wire did you use
We tugged the wire and it came off. We spliced on a new wire and problem solved! Thank you so much!
That’s awesome!
@@Tomsfoolery. You're awesome!! I also watched your $900 reason to not buy a Trailhawk which was great also. I still want one though:). I emailed Mopar Sales Direct about why the cv axles were different. Is it the splines into the tranny or the splines into the hub? I asked him if the hubs were interchangeable but he didn't know. I've resurrected a few XL comanches and cherokees. It was nice to know I could go to the boneyard and get parts that fit. Thanks again!
I fucking love UA-cam 🙏 thanks a ton!
Do you think this applies to a 2015 Buick enclave
2004 chevy silverado 2500hd 6.0 omw home yesterday it went into engine reduce motor shut off while moving pulled into a parking lot started it up ran like shit but shut it off let sit for 5 mins ran perfectly fine after but in the power reduced I had no throttle does that sound like throttle body??
My Reduced Engine Power light came on after cleaning the throttlebody how do i fix that lol, can it be done without a scan tool thanks?
Hmm, sounds like the same issue I've been having for years and still having. Replaced throttle body, gas pedal & sensor still having same issue at random times like when driving or when sitting in park it will randomly pop up on screen reduce engine power & read traction off on 2002 GMC Yukon 4.3 Vortex engine. I don't know anything about soldering wires together but this is definitely something I'm going to look into. Nice video.
Mine is doing the same thing did you find the issue
@@dennisnicolas6865 Wiring harness(for vehicle)&a couple sensors. Had a couple wires that were burnt out in two places. So far it everything good the only lights coming on at random is ABS,Break Light&Service/Check Engine but neither has caused an issue in truck running faulty.
Check your voltage regulator
