Stretched tires are a nightmare for tire shops. Be smart and not have stretched tires.
No thier are not
Nightmare? If I'm paying them, why would they care. It's not free
Do you have any idea how much force it takes to seat a stretched tire onto the rim? Because if you did, you wouldn't be saying that stretched tires aren't a nightmare.
@@adamthomas1222yeah totally why would the person actually doing the work care.
No there not lmaoo Mexican homie with a cheata tank yells clear and you hear a pop and I throw him 80 bucks for a set. You are just bad at your job and don't understand the tools needed
bought a car with stretched tires and good tread, had a blowout after a month
tread has nothing to do with your tire blowing out. if you aren't constantly monitoring your PSI the sidewall wont have enough support and itll get unseated from the rim. just do your research before you get yourself hurt
@@adrianbraga-de3ub or don't have stretched tires
As a mechanic I would straight up refuse to mount stretched tires or do the stupid super high camber set ups.
Just refusing money .. got em good man
@@tsaa5902 it takes way longer to mount tires like that combined with the extra potential for being sued.... You would make more money doing work for people who aren't retarded.
@@tsaa5902more like refusing a potential lawsuit. Remember, McDonald's got sued over hot coffee. A mechanic's job is to make sure that the work they did is safe.
Let me correct you it's not yes and no on safety. It's no all day long. You even explained why it's no. Increasing the risk at blowing a tire is ALWAYS UNSAFE!!!
It's mostly a no because a lot of people with extreme stretch are also running pretty extreme camber. The wear they showed at the beginning of the video was mostly due to excessive camber over excessive stretching. That being said, super stretched tires look terrible to me anyway, so I'm not personally doing it either way.
Yep yep yep it'l has no benefits other than visuals and to be honest messing with tires and wheels is always a no no
Been running stretched tires 10 years strong, never blown a tire.
@Nicktheblasian good for you, doesn't make it safe just because you had good luck. Stretching tires is dangerous and a huge risk that's the point of my comment.
@@koltenpetersen4037 if they are as dangerous as you claim, i think after 10 years, i would have encountered some form of danger associated with stretching them 🤷🏽♂️
When it comes to rain, man this just wants to aquaplane in every puddle of water.....
Aquaplane 💀💀
You mean hydroplane 😂😂😂
@@GiDD504 here in germany its called aquaplaning, so its an understandable mistake
@@GiDD504 In Spain we say Aquaplaning.
Isnt it an hydroplane a plane able to land on water?¿🤣🤣
@@flacter those are generally called "seaplanes" nowadays, though have been referred to as both "aquaplanes" and "hydroplanes," as well as other names, in the past.
Mechanical engineer here… nah it’s pretty stupid more or less all of the time for any on-road vehicle, but you don’t even need me to tell you that, it’s pretty much common logic.
Not me running a 195/45 on a 15x9 👀
stretch tires are not safe, Trust me, you don’t get the same surface grip as you would with other fitted tires, especially if your in a rwd car, Go for something safer for your driving style
“The laws in Europe suck!”
Morons say this, there’s a reason why we don’t have shitty and dangerous squatted trucks
nah laws in eu are terrible in most countries here you cant even have window tint not even uv protection film on your windows
@@nachocheese6107iirc UV and IR protection is allowed, so long as it lets enough visible light through (not totally sure if the same applies to the windshield and rear window as they can be rather fussy)
@@nachocheese6107 which country doesn't allow tinting?😂
I thought people mod their cars for function. Stretch is just the opposite
🤦🏻♂️ it improves ground clearance and handling so idk how that makes a car less functional unless if u go all out and make it less functional
@@Mr4bangerhow come race cars of any Motorsport don’t run stretched tires? Maybe because it isn’t functional at all. You loose contact patch and sidewall stability.
@@Mr4bangeri would like to engage in a debate to prove you wrong.😃👍 can you support your absurd argument that stretching tires makes your car lower and handle better?
@@Mr4banger evidence?😂
see if your insurance will pay out for having stretched tyres if yo make a claim before you get stretched tyres.
I wish the laws here made people keep their tires inside the fenders instead of slinging shit all over the place.
in idaho, if your tires are sticking past your fenders you can get a ticket, but that's if you piss off the trooper and he decides to throw the book at you. We do allow fender flares though.
@@ld2048I live in Idaho and I’ve never heard of of anyone getting harassed by cops for that. Legit every truck in town and all these horrible offset stance boys be running around like animals. Idaho has the least restrictions out of most the states.

@@btzxdarkfury1922 do you know how highway speeds work? I stay 5-6 car lengths for that reason and still get hit
Ive ran a mild stretch on multiple daily drivers for years and never had an issue, if you dont go absolutely crazy and dont actively seek out potholes youll be fine
"Mild" majority go full hard "R"...
I run 10 inch wide tires on 8 inch rims the grip is unreal
Had them debead twice while driving y friends cars stretch is trash
"This sticker is dangerous and inconvenient, but I do love Fig Newtons."
It's been proven that a slight stretch is actually going to be faster on the track. I'm running a 205/50 on a 15x8 it's minimal stretch, but faster. ❤
That's still technically within spec for the width. If it was 185's tho 💀
Every point of these "mods" have a purpose for a reason, it just so happens that people go beyond what was needed...
I’ve seen miata drivers run 195 on 9” and having great great results laptime wise
@@EvanMaillardRacingstop the cap 🧢 😂
I've been running 245/40 on 18x9.5 and it's the upper limit I'd ever go with stretching tires. I'm thinking about going up to 265, but first I gotta test 245 on track sometime.
Running tyres in a way not engineered to do. You people are geniuses.
What about oversized tyres on a smaller size rim ?
A small amount of stretch can actually increase handling performance because the sidewall acts stiffer. The cross section of the stretched tire is pulled tighter than a square or oversized setup prevents sidewall wobble when entering corners.
nahfam
You lose all that time you made when it debeads.
nope. wrong. for handling performance, get wider wheels with appropriately fitted tires with low profile and sticky/softer compound. think michelin sport cup 2’s.
@@06mikerome google it there are factory produced cars with a light amount of stretch (GT350 for example) and my setup is stretched with a 255/35R19 Michelin sport all session 4 on 19x9.5in wheel look up a picture and tell me if that’s not the same as the car I mentioned earlier
The mental gymnastics...😂
Most tires have a scale on what wheel-width they can be used. So they can be "stretched" legally to a certain degree.
I normally go the opposite direction, and try to have as much tire as possible, and worry about if the tire will push off the lip from being too wide.lol. beadlocks might be a good idea, or at least rim screws.lol
you know thats actually worse for performance right?
Had to stretch my tires one time because the only tires in stock were narrower than what I needed and I will never do that again 😂 having to mount them was an absolute nightmare, even with John Deere starting fluid (highest ether % I could find) sidewalls started cracking at 20k miles, but that could’ve also been because they were old tires I got for $36 a piece. Have since moved to a 17x8 wheel with 215/40 nitto neo gens and they were much easier to deal with haha
For 36$ it's cheaper than walking 😂
I'm surprised a shop would mount a tire that way because of the liability it may create. I get it is a look thing, but I only do things that enhance performance or safety margins, so it wouldn't be for me. This type of setup would lessen the contact patch because the stretch would tend to pull the center portion of the tire away from the road decreasing traction and braking. I come from a desert racing/off-road background, so I suppose it's different priorities.
Your background was function and science.
These guys was going full hard "R"....
They will say, we will do it but the tires are not warranty after an anything that happens is not our fault. Done deal.
I looked at the minimum size of tire that is recommended on the wheel width I had and went one size down from that mainly for the looks.
I put 155 tire on a wheel meant for 185 tire, for drifting.
Wondering if a 235 / 40 /18 is okay to throw on some 18x9.5 wheels
Depends on how much stretch old F1 cars and many classic super cars had tire stretch the z51 package on a C4 corvette went from a 16x8 to a 16x10 with the same 255/50r16 also a slightly stretched tire prevents cutting the side wall and ruining the tire if you get a flat
The mental gymnastics 😂
For me I like a nice bulging tire. Talking 255/60 r15 on 7.5 inch wheel front and 275/60 r15 on rear. If I could get a 295 to fit in the rear I would. But I like driving my car
My mechanic friend got me the wrong sized tires for my rendezvous when I was a kid. He insisted stretching them would be fine. Blew out within a month
Is there a rule of thumb or anything when matching tires and wheels? I have 18x9.5 wheels with a 235 tire. Just by looking at sizes online how does a normal person know what’s right or wrong?
Not really cause every tire size is a bit different and if you have a taller sidewall there's more leniency. However as a general rule I would never recommend that the width of the wheel be wider than the tire
Driving on stretched tyres for years never had a blow out but it certainly does induce oversteer!!
Should I stretch the tires on my motorcycle?
😂
I’m more into the truck scene. I would nearly want the opposite of stretch. If there’s no sidewall sticking farther than the rim, I don’t want it.
15s on drag radials are the only way
Sudani style is the squated truck of the rim world
Lowriders have been running stretch tires since the 70s
My dad built tire beads for a living and it's dangerous. Basically every turn you go around is gamble whether it's gunna stay on your not
Is it safe ‘yes and no’…. Just leave it at No!

Just don’t do it period.
Rice bois get laughed out of the shop I work at. So glad, too because they suck to deal with.
I’ve got fat sidewalls granted I normally run track stance
"Hello I am entitled to risking hitting your car due to a blown tire. Strict laws suck because they mean I cant risk your life :
Why wheels are 195 and I have 185 tires
I don't mind seeing stretched tires. But I would never do it.
it looks bad, is less safe, reduces tire life and makes your wheels be the first thing to hit any small stone.
i personally dont even like low profile tires. combine low profile and stretch for the ultimate "please be patient, i have modified my car" situations at every pothole/speedbump/driveway.
function over form. you dont increase your tirepatch, so the wide rims are just added unsprung weight.
and to the guys saying "slightly stretched tires have shown to be better for laptimes hurr durr durr"; youre not on a track. for a track, get a track wheel, tire and alignment. its better than stretching tires. otherwise all motorsports would run stretched tires. they dont. and for good reason.
There is no "European" law. Each country has their own laws.
Thankfully the wheel (not just the tyre) sticking out beyond the bodywork is illegal in most.
Americans don't believe in spray suppression, they think it's normal to be covered in debris when driving.
They absolutely do not make sense 😂
That sideways bs looks so dumb to me I've never understood why people think it looks good
That was from camber not the tire being stretched

Going to borrow a quote from Nancy Reagan: "Just say no"
Stretched tires are stupid and so is every single person running them.
In my experience they drift fine, but for any cornering stuff they suck ass
I never really understood why someone would even do that, but it isn't my problem... suit yourself, i guess
Powder coat the wheels and kiss your worries of debeading a tire goodbye 👋
When it comes to car modding, there's stupid and then there's really truly astoundingly fucking stupid.
stretch is cool but if you overdo it not only does it look dumb as hell it also is a rolling death trap
not 1 racing series world wide uses stretching
You don’t know sketchy until you see a 1 ton truck on stretched street tires pulling another truck on a trailer. That’s sketchy.
225/40 on an 18x9… still safe?
I have those specs on a 9.5, never had an issue
😂 no u just need to adjust suspension and actually know what to ask your alignment shop. run square set up on my mk6 Golf R
No stretched tires don't make sense.
Mildly stretching a tire is an old racing thing. If you think it originated in tuning scene somewhere, you have no business making videos on cars.
I've got 185/60/13s on 8 inch deep Cragar's. Poke out a little. Gives my 68 Corolla a nice ass.
It’s not something you need to do to if you like functional fitment like me
Europe your weird we had actual Camber normal fitted tyres. In England
I just don’t understand why you would want a stretched tire anyways. You bought a wide rim so why not slap a fat ass tire to that thing. Looks way more aggressive with all that meat!
I find safety ruined society but this should of been common sense not to do.
Also stretched tire make car's probably handle worse.
Its a bad idea. All it takes is a tire falure. Even if its for unrelated to be in heap of trouble and life lomg feelings of guilt when you take out a family in an incoming car.
Stretching is the sleepy Joe of the automobile world ~😂
So , here en Eu technical documentation to your car wich states what tyre u need to run like 205/65r15 and police are looking fro that ...thats why "we" stretch tyres ...it looks better with legal size tyres
Stretched tires don’t look good on anything meaty setups >>> also function over form
Glad I run my stock tires. Don't have to worry about this ever.
I trust what this guy says because he's sitting on a stool and he has a shirt with a logo on it. And someone edited in clips of tires and wheels rolling in the video. So it's gotta be legit
If you are one of the people that thinks this is cool for whatever reason, please save it for car shows and don’t endanger others on the road with your designed to fail tether to the pavement.
Stretched tired looks dumb and handle like shit. I’ll never understand why you would have a car with a tuned engine putting out lots of horsepower and then completely ruin it with stupid suspension mods and stretched tires.
Safe or not, they just look stupid.
As long as it looks stupid an is stupid Gen Z will buy it 😊
43 now and we did stretch tires back when I was 16 on 13 and 15 inche rims so you're wrong and that European myth
I was taking stretch tires off her rim oh my god that she didn’t want to come off
Such a lie they ignore the guys looks. Wome. Always go for the low hanging fruit and a guys looks is easier to make fun of than a profile
Hi
Sup
Stretched tires go way farther back then the "European Car Scene". Some touring car classes do not have rules for wheels other than safety and materials. They do have rules for tire sizes. When you stretch a tire in a racing scenario it stops most of the rollover and adds some inherent camber gain to the contact patch during lateral acceleration. You get better performance from a smaller tire when it is slightly stretched. If the class rules didnt mandate tire sizes this would disappear and people would just run the correct tire. This goes back more than 30 years.
A good chance your insurance will be cancelled if you have a crash. But hey, if you don't own anything but a poorly performing badly modded car, who cares?
Same law here in Massachusetts, laws making people do things that are more dangerous than just poking out a quarter an inch. Gotta love our incompetent government
Clown play
Stretched tires and camber is fucking stupid
Oh look more misinformation 😂 this channel takes medical advice from Wikipedia, stretching tires on a rim wider then it was made to fit is always dangerous. Oh don't even think for a second you can slide your car unless you like flat spots on your rims 😂

ive had stretched tires for 15 years and never had a problem. you people just majorly suck
