- John Staples told the kids that his Bertram rebuild would take six months. Seven years later, he admits maybe he miscalculated a little with the timeframe. But no complaints from The Captain, who's now drooling over this classic 25ft reincarnation.

An absolute unreal build John, a real credit to you, I am doing up a 25 at the moment I’m in the same boat as you with identification I found the same thing with my hoodlining in the cabin mine said B25 318, international marine said it’s around 1979 so yours must be pretty early could even be American import before international marine made them over here

Very nicely done indeed. A fine hull and handsome lines restored to “ better than new”. Bravo! Our oldest son lives in NSW near the water in Hathead. I have been encouraging him to find a hull like this size so we might get out to South Rocks and get some fishing in. 😉

very nice boat, these Bertrams and Caribbean boats were built by International Marine, i had a Caribbean Reef Runner 6-5 mt for twenty one years , repowered it three times and refitted it and had no problem selling it, new these Boats are still amongst the best you can buy
Beautiful boat!! I have a 1969 22ft Bertram that I completely redid couple years ago and I know the feeling. Don’t want to even think about the money let alone the blood, sweat, and tears that I put into it but was totally worth it.

Spectacular... I had to edit and add this... John's boat should be at the Sydney Boat Show in Darling Harbour - The vessel is a perfect example of what can be done with a classic. So many people just toss out the old, buy some trendy Euro plastic thing and never try to update the classics. John learned his skills well... Thank you for sharing; most appreciated.

That POD excludes the boat from being a serious fishing boat. So a serious fishing cruiser hull is turned into a plain cruiser. Sightseeing anyone? Leave your rods at home.

Amazing when you think the Berties , Carribeans and formula 233 were all products of the 60 and 70,s and despite Technolgy and computers continue to perform as well as anything from 2023...

Awesome effort great looking and practical boat, this was also my dream but factoring in the need to rent a shed for 3 years blew out the budget, ended up buying a 255 Boston Whaler and refreshed that, hats off to John 👍

Wow! That is a boat that anyone regardless of wealth or stature would be proud to own. I don’t know if I could bring myself to take it fishing and drop a sinker on the teak or get fish blood all over in a boat that pristine. The bright work on this is beautiful!!
