@@katz9853 they usually get a really good snare sample and use it in place of it. As far as the sound, it's many things. Tuning, heads, drum size, mic placement, processing, knowing when to stop.

Yo this shit has me giggling like silly because I graduated high school 2009 and my weightlifting coach for every year was a huge Job For a Cowboy fan and would play it regularly in the weight room. Their decision to use a raunchy snare is definitely a big move. Outside of deathcore, that kind of raunch hasn't been popular since the 2000s.
I’m liking this because I agree completely but it stood out to me because I hated it. Not sure why but the snare tone of the last couple releases really distract me from everything else. Still loved the song regardless.
