“Fucking makes it” in reference to the little snare bits…. Fucking makes this video for me as a drummer. Nice one dude. Would love to see more reviews of bands past/present in this realm
"Fucking makes it" is so heartwarming because someone who is so well versed in theory just hearing a nasty chug riff appreciating it is awesome. Thank you ❤
I’ve seen them twice and I can tell you it is ABSOLUTELY that clean live. I’m sure it depends on the venue. But I was absolutely blown away at how clear the guitars sounded knowing how low they tune. I would definitely recommend seeing them if you ever get a chance.
Lead guitarist is the low growl/scream range. He's incredible. There are other live shows that show the clarity in their tone. One specifically in NY recently, if I remember right. Unreal sound!
From someone that was lucky enough to get a ticket to this small ass show (shit sold out in like 30 seconds) I can tell you it sounded just like this in the room. And the other 5 times I’ve seen them they sounded like this too, they’re just an amazing live band
I've been watching this channel for years, and have found countless new country artists because of it. But seeing you do a react to my favorite heavy band is a dream come true. You're amazing Michael, thank you!
Saw Knocked Loose live around 2 years ago and was mind blown how they sounded exectly like the recording. Best show of my life. My cousin who is on the same record label as them told us they use a device to copy what they used to record the tracks in the studio to their amps on stage. Im not edjucated enough to tell you what or how, but thats the word.
I went to the show expecting it to be sick already. But I was legitimately jaw dropped when I heard how good they sounded. The guitar tone sounded SO articulate and clear.
It's called a Kemper! Basically a digital guitar amp that can clone real tube (and other solid states) amps and pedals exactly. Allows them to record with "real" gear and then just upload the whole rig into one easy patch on the Kemper, which they then use as their amp for live shows.
I can confirm that is how they sound live. On my channel I also filmed/mixed a show they played in my town and can confirm there is fiddling around, they are just DIALED, and the show I filmed was before they went to in-ears which is a statement on how hard they work to develop this live presence. I've seen a lot of bands in my life, and they are seriously one of very few bands that genuinely make me feel uneasy live, like the presense of these songs feel scary in this odd way.
I love how often I get reminded how much I truly appreciate the fact that you actually know music theory. Sooo many UA-cam guitarists have a natural ear but the vast majority don’t know at all how to explain how they mathematically know what’s happening. They’re pretty much just like “I know this is how it’s played and it’s just muscle memory to me.”
So much mad reapect for how you can be just as excited for music like this as you can be for Umphrey's, and Medium Build. Truly it means so much to me as such a pollyjammerous type of person. You are seen, and appreciated.
I saw them live in NYC in May and as an Audio Engineer, Mixer, and Producer I was blown away by the clarity of their sound. Heavy and huge but still clean and clear the killed it. Most fun ive had at a show in years. I felt like a kid lmao
I am filled with joy that this guitar teacher is so into the song and learning how to play their music. He finally found out who the other singing voice was coming from. First time on this channel, enjoyed, and tune it to more.
as someone who has seen them live, they sounded really really good. to be fair i was moshing more than focusing on the specific notes. although, as somone who is familiar with their songs, i can say they hit all the important parts perfect. i had so much fun at that show
I love this so much, watching michael cover his mouth to hide the grin while watching this. Also love the "F**king makes it" comment knocked loose got him feeling some sort of way LOL.
I was not expecting much from this video. Typical guitar teacher dude with a standard tuned PRS. Really amazed by how well you picked this song apart. Heavy and low is not everyone’s cup of tea and like you said it can be very difficult to pick apart what’s actually happening but I actually really enjoyed your take on this song. You’re a great guitar player and have an amazing ear. Subscribed and looking forward to more, cheers 🍻
Lead guitarist (shaved head) does the low background vocals, and the rhythm guitarist (long black hair) does some mid background vocals as well on the newer songs
Awesome that you enjoy this, the best videos are mars Volta and stuff like this outside your normal wheelhouse. Also tuning down would help learn the songs my guy haha but enjoyed this thanks!
Knocked Loose is definitely all in on the heavy. I can speak to the clarity though... I can confirm that they do sound that clean live. They have extremely nerdy sound guys that are clearly living out their dream jobs, and the band members themselves are no different. They don't party (all of them are sober except one of them) so they are really on point as far as their live performances.
Their new album made me a fan finally. They are playing 8 strings. The guitar player closest to the camera who is out of frame does back up low growls.
You can't talk about heavy bands with groove and swagger without mentioning Dying Fetus. Panic Amongst The Herd, Seething With Disdain, Your Treachery Will Die With You, and Descend into Depravity are all great examples. They also show a huge amount of creativity with the number of ideas they bring to a song. Cheers
never thought I'd see you react to KL. Amazing edit: totally also love your attention to rhythmic detail. they really use groove and melody to their advantage in such an incredible way, also suggest you check out some of the members other heavy side projects, brilliant stuff!
its insane how well they put it together live. nothing else than practicing a shit to gets you there. theyre so tight and on point. it really makes the difference between yet another HC band you see live and "holy shit that was an amazing set".
I've seen them live twice in two different states. They sound exactly like this live. It's unreal. I didn't care for them until I saw them live. it kinda just clicked for me when they opened with where the light divides the holler.
Love this reaction!! Btw, the optimal string tension on a guitar tuned that low can be achieved through a combination of thicker gauge strings and a longer scale length on the guitar. I doubt they’re as slinky for Isaac as 9s on 25.5 or 24.75 inch scale length guitars tuned to Drop A
Michael you have to check out Martin Sexton. Strongest solo-artist in the world right now and I don't say that lightly. "Glory Bound", "Black Sheep", and "Hallelujah" are great places to start!
Knocked Loose currently plays in A Standard tuning (I believe). Generally, that is very low. In heavier music, A Standard is not the lowest. There are many bands that tune even lower, as far as Double Drop D (maybe even Double Drop A). But you are correct about the fact that notes that low are difficult to hear and it amazes me everyday that their guitars have so much clarity. Their guitar tones are well put together and so monstrous. It amazes me everytime. NikNocturnal once said that their guitars sound like explosions LMAO. Side note: I loved your video! I'd love to see you do more Knocked Loose stuff!
Been going to metal concerts for 20 years not only does it sound better live you can literally feel it in your chest. Especially a hardcore concert in a smaller venue like that. Nothing matches it
I haven’t seen them live yet myself, but by all accounts they sound incredible. I’m pretty sure this is direct audio from the FOH mixer, though I’m not sure if any additional mixing is done in post production. but generally speaking I’ve never experienced a show with poor sound quality because of how low the guitars were tuned. a lot of bands have been tuning this low for a while now, so it’s not as uncommon as you may think. most sound guys have all seemed to have caught on. all of the Knocked Loose live sets on UA-cam sound great as well
This is single handely the best youtube channel now! You help me learn guitar and all the jam band music and now I find out you enjoy my favorite hardcore band! 🤌🤌🤌
they sound like this live; i think isaac, the guitarist that does vocals, is an absolute tone junkie. He's also in Inclination, a straightedge hardcore band, and they do a lot of stuff with subtle chorus effects etc that sound killer
Hey Michael remember a when you did a reaction to The Big Push with Ren? Well his band mate Gorran Kendall just released a video of a song he did a few years ago at his first solo show. It's called "You Are The One"
Holy hell! What a good choice and awesome band. If you want some absolutely LOW tuned guitar geniuseness, try "Den Spanska Kanslan" by Vildhjarta. It may blow your mind.
Came here for Polyphia. Stayed for the Kendrick. Will continue to stay for the Knocked Loose. I love that you have fun with all of these different genres and styles of music, while also always adding some great insight! FYI: Hard to see it in this section of the show, but the low screams are from the guitarist closest to the camera.
You should get a set of 12-64 or 68 strings and set one of your PRS 25" scale guitars up in drop A. Its like playing a 7 string (which they are) without the high E added.
something you can swing to. i grew up loving hardcore metal before metalcore. its raw. it's simple and its heavy. way to let off some steam. the grooves are amazing
Michael being a Knocked Loose enjoyer is wonderful.
Hey that’s my video lol
You do great work man love watching your sets
knocked loose is the PHATNESS. TIME FOR A 7 STRING MIKE!
Mike has to get a PRS Mark Holcomb SVN now lol
You can play basically all of their music on a 6 string with no issues, though. It's just A standard with one string tuned a half step higher.
@@crewd00d totally.
@@crewd00d very true. It would just be fun to see him use a 7
A true musician can appreciate all music. Fucking well done and a great perspective on this!
absolutely agree with you
“Fucking makes it” in reference to the little snare bits…. Fucking makes this video for me as a drummer. Nice one dude. Would love to see more reviews of bands past/present in this realm
Best part of the video it's like hearing a college professor curse in front of you and not expecting it😂😂😂
Not at all what I expected from this channel, but I'm super stoked to see it! Knocked Loose is absolutely killing it!
Surprised to see you doing hardcore but clicked as soon as I saw this lol
deadass same, haha was shocked as hell to see this. clicked asap
🙌 samsies
"Fucking makes it" is so heartwarming because someone who is so well versed in theory just hearing a nasty chug riff appreciating it is awesome. Thank you ❤
Most times it’s the simplest that hits the hardest. Metal is the supreme genre, so broad if you are willing to explore

10 year old song let it go
@@YungGrandsonBryan just said himself that he appreciates the support of it and will continue to be in their set as long as people enjoy it. So…

Yup, I can testify, they sound great live! They must have a wizard on hand, or technology is just so much improved from 15 years ago!
they switched to using amp sims a few years ago, so the tones are literally 1:1 with the recordings
@@moistboy64so sick
Yessssssssss thanks for taking my pick bro. Appreciate you and all you do.
Yooo!! Picking up that triplet ghosts on the snare is sooo sick!!! “F*ckin makes it!” 😂😂😂 you’re the man!
Lead guitarist is the low growl/scream range. He's incredible. There are other live shows that show the clarity in their tone. One specifically in NY recently, if I remember right. Unreal sound!
Even Nicko Calderon on rhythm guitar has some sick hardcore yells on their newer singles!

You should check out Mike Stringers guitar play through of the song Jaded by Spiritbox he is a great guitar player
Their new album is some of the best material in this genre at the moment. It’s blistering and powerful. I love it.

So glad to see you come back to a knocked loose track really enjoyed the last time you did it as well
I’ve been waiting for another one for so long!!!! So good!!!! He needs to hear more ADSOB
The blue finish on that PRS is gorgeous
Love your love for music. How you just listen and don’t judge the music but hear what they do and what ppl create. So cool
Getting the groove and such clean sounding bends on an extended baratone guitar with light poles for strings is impressive. Awesome video!!
Love your videos man, and would LOVE to see you bust out a 7 string and throw down a full cover of this
I've seen them live earlier this year. Their live sound is the same as the sound on the albums. It was amazing.
Great breakdown. Worked on the music video for this and the band is as cool as they sound.

Knocked Loose are spectacular. Its kinda not fair how good they are.
That clarity, precision and cleanness is what separates these guys from all the others in this genre. Go see them live, it’s unreal.
Also, two of those guys are in Weapon X!
I love this so much, watching michael cover his mouth to hide the grin while watching this. Also love the "F**king makes it" comment knocked loose got him feeling some sort of way LOL.

First time I was introduced to KL was live opening for Motionless in White. I was ill prepared for that high-pitched voice.
Knocked Loose know how to keep a song going. They dont rest on a section for too long for you to have a rest. They are relentless!
Was at that show and they were amazing. Show was wild 🤘🏼
I love that even after gaining a shit ton of popularity, theyve remained true to themselves and didnt switch up and soften up their sound
Hell yeah. Never expected to see knocked loose on here but I am very happy that its happened!
I love how he knew it was in "A" right off the bat. And then to kinda transpose that on his guitar is awesome.
I LOVE that you did Knocked Loose. Your facial expressions were hilarious (in a good way).
They tune to A standard for his song.
ADGCFAD. Essentially its a 7 string tuned a whole step down.

Nice!! Knocked Loose!!! Love it.
And I'm sure the recording is from the board or something but they are absolutely tight live!! You should go see em, it's a real good time.
Also in metal hardcore they have specific strings amps and pedals that help with clarity on the lower tunings.
