I found where the squeak was coming from on my sgs28. It’s the spring that’s under the brass screw. Use Permatex Silicone Ceramic Extreme Brake Parts Lubricant, it doesn’t wash out like other silicone greases I used before. Just put a dab around the spring, it doesn’t take much for it to stop squeaking
That is where I thought it was coming from. The lube probably helps the action a little better too. I thought about adding it to other spray guns that felt a little tight. Greatly appreciate this information.
A couple of nice ideas in your installation. Just one thing to (re-)consider... when threading metal fittings to plastic (PVC), metal male threads can split open female threads. The preferable approach is plastic male into metal female. Over time, with abrupt water pressure changes (valve open/close), the plastic will also flex to the eventual point of failure. Maybe add a couple of "water hammer" arrestors to help absorb the hits. Hope that helps...
I have had one split before. Since my connection is very custom with no room now to cut and use couplers to change it would using a 1/2 male to 3/4 male pvc fitting work then thread a female brass one? Something like this amzn.to/3F7sKku I could also just use a 1/2 npt to 3/4 GHT adapter and connect the female part of the hose there.
@@CarsWithKeav Yes, Male LVC into Female PVC or metal will prevent splitting.
@@AMLauria Thanks for the great info. Learning as I’m going here. 🤣
A well thought setup from the pvc connectors on the RO system to the stainless quick connect and elbow npt's this is equals less maintenance. If i may suggest is to add a screen strainer Isediment filter right before the two small filters, less strain on ur carbon and sediment filter. And for the squeeky gun just spray a silicone grease it should mitigate that squeaking noise and ur plastic and seal will love u for that silicone lol! future mod is the boom swivel for ur hose, ull love it! Glad ur able to find and source out a cheaper but well built attachments and didn't have to spend as much, when i build mine theres not that much info or videos and had no choice but to bite the bullet lol, We have an almost identical setup with just a few addons i did but imho is not a must but the huge difference is the cost, which almost if not more than doubled. Love ur videos and ur bloopers btw lol! Congrats on ur new set up!
Appreciate the kind words and feedback. Boom pole is a good idea. Just got to figure out how to properly mount with a drop ceiling. I run the double carbon block and no sediments because my water has none really. 55ppm and my main issue is resin depletion due to chlorine and chloramine. I’ve had a few tell me they fixed their squeak by lubricating the internal ball valve saying that’s where it was coming from. I’ll have to try and fix that, but I normally don’t hear it when the pressure washer is running so I just ignore it. 🤣 I like that now there is so much selection out there to make your own setup and not what somebody is selling you. A few years ago you only had so many reels, guns, etc. to choose from.
@@CarsWithKeav with ur setup u should have a lot of life off of ur resin, or u can do what I have I separated the anion and casino since u have 2 big blue ones, I think and from experience the water has to be cleaned by the charcoal and sediment filter well so u don’t out work ur resins and if u split ur resin u can re energize them easily than the mix bed because u don’t have separate them so u don’t have to worry about ur resin. For ur gun switch to ceramic or zirconia which I switched a couple of years ago instead of stainless ball that u get on the repair kit. Then u don’t have to worry about ur gun for a long time lol. And ur right about having a lot of choices these days and their cost is much more reasonable. And ur doing it right by making reasonable purchases and share so everyone can enjoy. Btw I just ordered the efoam spray I saw awhile ago in ur channel lol that sprayer is crazy foamy and yes it’s good for wheels, underside and other panels. Btw run one sediment filter instead of two carbon because it filters minerals too
@@1kontrabida I have not thought about doing my own regeneration yet as I just hate working with acids and bleach. LOL My biggest problem is the Chloramine which a normal carbon block does not do well on these so I have a specific Chloramine block and then a dedicated carbon block for Chlorine. I never thought those Efoam sprayers from Amazon would perform that well.
PPQ
The patience to take this all apart and put it back together haha! Thank you once again! Glad you like the tip/nozzle holder!
I’ve done it so many times. Just this time around the hose reels weigh twice as much and mounted 3 feet higher. 🤣
Great setup Keav. Just subscribed. Moving to a wall mounted pressure washer setup is my next project. Really like the way you did it. Not sure where you live, maybe you have mentioned that already, but how much does the DI system resin last, like how often you change them.
All depends on the water source really and how they treat the water. Our County water is probably some of the better in the country at only 60 TDS. For me around 700 gallons, but hoping my new carbon filter setup gets me much more this time around. Best thing is first get a tds meter to know your water quality. If you are on city/county water you can reach out or sometimes on their website they state the chemicals used to treat. Ground water is a whole other ballgame as well.
@@CarsWithKeav thanks for the info Keav. I’ll get a tds and start there 👍
But, is it Matt approved? :) jk jk. I was cleaning the garage and realized I have two dual 10"x2.5 inch Camco filter setups. I would run a sediment and carbon for the RV in those. I wonder if I can do carbon and resin in those? It is funny how us OCD go overboard just beacause.
10x2.5 will do resin for sure you would have to run at least two resin filters to make sure you ah e enough resin to clean properly. Some of those 10x2.5 systems do restrict flow so you would need to look if it’s enough to run a pressure washer.
Very well done Keav!
Appreciate that
Great job. Can you show the hook up for the foam canon
Foam cannons are using a 1/4 quick disconnect that has been screwed into the wall. The hole was tapped so the thread can screw in and hold. These amzn.to/48GzfYT In my description I have a link for a big pack that comes out cheaper if you need more than 2.
@@CarsWithKeav so the disconnects screw right into the wood ? Thanks for the reply.
@@jpanyk Yes, I used a 7/16 drill bit to make the whole and a 1/4 tap to create the threads. Most likely you can just force thread of the quick connect into the hole and that should work as well without needing a tap. Taps and the tools needed are not cheap. These amzn.to/3RMe6Xg can be used that get screwed into the wall and the quick connect is already there. More expensive, but very good quality stuff. Just saves money to do the way I did it.
Very nice setup. Great explanations for the entire install! Thank you 🙏
You’re welcome
Any idea yet how much having those carbon filters helps with resin longevity? I have 500ppm water, and need to figure something out to extend my resin. Unfortunately RO is not really an option in my garage. I know the filters won't really bring down the PPM, but definitely let us know if you find that you get more life out of the resin.
It’s going to be probably spring before I see how much they help. If you have city/county water getting the chlorine and chloramine out would have to help. All resin manufactures suggest to run carbon filters to increase life from chlorine and other chemicals. If it’s well water it’s not going to help as much.
I would use schedule 80 PVC so it would match all the unions. Plus it's stronger 💪🏽
Initially I didn’t have the unions and was using plain shut off valves. So most of all the connections were already built and I just added in the unions where I wanted to take apart in sections.
Can we get a quick video on the mini washing machine, I would like to add that to my garage. I don't like the car washing chemicals mixed in with my cloths and dedicated towels washing machine would be perfect. I would just need something small since I wash my towels after each wash.
I can put it in the list.
I just moved into a new house and while I have many things in chaos I'll eventually build something like this as most of my dinero went into the new house purchase so budget is a wee bit tight! Thanks!
Took me 18 years at my current house to finally be able to do this wash bay. A few years we might be a building a whole new wash bay and setup somewhere else from the ground up. Congrats on the house!
Do you have a video on big boi blowers
I have not tried them.
I saw you have extra washing machine there. Is it bad to wash my microfibers in my house washing machine? I use it on heavy duty hoping it pulls everything off and nothing stays in machine or drum.
Perfectly fine to do that I have the extra one because my family hogs the ones upstairs. So I got this one to use as my dirty microfiber storage and washing machine. When full I start a wash. Just don’t use hot water keep at warm or less and dry on low heat.
Where did you buy the “slotted closet hangers”, as well,as the baskets and brush holders (that use the same hangers)? I can’t find them
Home Depot in the closet organizer section. Pick the heavy duty ones I think the name brand is Everbilt.
Hi keav, i was wondering why you need a regular garden hose reel and a pressure washer reel?
I use the garden hose reel quite often for my spotless rinse as it delivers a better soaking pattern than the pressure washer. I also still do regular hose washes from time to time. It’s also my outdoor hose for the backyard. Just decided to have it inside. It’s also used in many of the review videos for products.
@@CarsWithKeav oh I see, yes, I've actually been watching more and more of your videos using the hose. I know it's been months since this video and was wondering if you still recommend the fixfans pressure washer reel and what hose would you best recommend for it? I appreciate your support
@@Sean-ij3mi It has been one of the best purchases I have made. Have had no issues at all with it. I love the Blushield Kevlar hose it is a smaller diameter and much lighter than most 3/8 hoses. Lays good and doesn't loop much.
@@CarsWithKeav okay, I seen a hose that comes with and without nm coupler plug, what is that and should I get the hose with it?
@@Sean-ij3mi NM is just short for non marking usually meaning it’s a gray hose. This is the one I have. amzn.to/3xecX2J
What mounts are you using to mount your foam cannons and nozzles to the wall? I’m looking for something similar for my trailer.
No mounts I just drilled a hole in the wood panel using a tap kit then tapped it 1/4 npt thread. Then I used Male threaded 1/4 QD and screwed them into the tapped threaded holes. Now if you need a mount these from Mckillans are awesome and look amazing. amzn.to/3RkFeMj
Hi can i use the same pressure washer hose reel for KobraJet Smooth Blue 75' 4000 PSI - MTM Hydro
Looks like you can, but half or more of the last layer will be outside the walls of the reel. Plus it has to be reeled in very uniform in order to use up all space. Just be warned it’s not advisable to have hose outside the walls as it could slip over the edge and cause it to get wedged on the reel assembly.
Hows that pressure washer reel? Thinking of purchasing today
It is doing great so far.
Did you use PVC or CPVC pipe? and what size pipe? 1/2, 3/4, 1"
PVC and 1/2”
Crazy good stuff here!
Thank you
That's got to be one of the most complete setups we've seen... 🥺
Will look even better next year with a 2.3 up there.
The water hose holder can you purchase without the water hose?
I have not seen it from this company without a hose. I bought mine and removed the hose.
@@CarsWithKeav it’s strange I see two on Amazon one is 174. The other one is 259 and they look just alike.
@@gearlstrickland3365 This is the one I bought amzn.to/4anFVvk That’s a good deal I paid $199 last year. It is a great hose that comes with it as well.
What is this for washing? Why do you need that in your garage?
For washing cars and my garage is an indoor wash bay. Also, most wash their car right outside the garage so this works for that as well. I also have many wash carts builds I do for those that can’t do this type of setup. Thanks for watching!
Overkill
Mission accomplished then because that was the goal!
Thanks for the products link. Ballin' on a budget
Got to support this addiction somehow. 🤣
Nice to see you using a dedicated pressure washer hose reel. I have been tempted to diy it but I don’t want it to blow a year later :/
Also I feel the exact same way about the sgs28. I’m just in love with that things
I got a whole family and last thing I need is to go blind or get hurt while washing a car to save $40. Good pressure washer hose reel can be found on Amazon for $80.
I love that gun!
Just curious, will you be replacing the waterdrop filters as often as you would as the crspotless filters or simply leaving those be to help with some filtering before it reaches the cr spotless?
Probably every 3 resin refills. Chloramine block is good for 3k gallons and Carbon Chlorine reducer is good for up to 10 times that. Depends if I decide to run it constantly or not. Reducing chlorine will help with corrosions on all the seals, gaskets, etc.
Spot on, seems like this would be perfect for resin life inside my crspotless. Thank you for the information! @@CarsWithKeav
With that pressure washer reel are you able to use it with the hose still partially wound and have it not crush the reel?
Yes, it has 6 locking positions on each rotation so when pulling out once you hear a click you have 5 positions to go for it to stop or you will have to go another rotation to stop. Once locked you would need to yank on it with some pressure and it will release and retract back in. Locks hold real well so have not seen an issue with it just spooling up without using a good bit of pressure in the pull.
Awesome work! #rolemodel
Thank you
What is the model of the mini washer for the rags?
It’s is this one. amzn.to/3Q0noh6
This is what overdoing it looks like ☺️
Mission accomplished! 🤣
Keav, I understand what your saying…, but working in commercial insurance for 5 years, my father was life long in the industry..you cannot be blamed for user errors/,\injuries… pretty sure your budget is well above my entire family’s. You should educate and understand that aspect of business
Oh I have a lot to learn that’s for sure. 🤣 This being my hobby and not my full time job my learning curve is slower. Believe me this is not my budget either if I didn’t have all these products from the UA-cam reviews to fill the wall up. Also, from a liability standpoint I meant more that I don’t feel comfortable giving instructions on modifying something outside it’s intended use and have somebody copy me and get hurt. I like to modify stuff, but I do at my own risk. Other issue is whether you are liable or not you can be sued for any reason and it’s costly to defend one and I don’t have that kind of money. 🤣
Love your into song to this video btw. I always enjoy your videos, and this is probably the setup I will be going with come the new year and income tax lol.. super clean looking though!
And that’s completely understandable, I am well aware of the cost of defending yourself in suits even when your not guilty.. that seems to more of the issue In society today… people count on just settlements so they don’t have to pay for litigation. It’s almost sad that that’s how things are today… your out here helping people with information, and it just takes that one person looking for a handout.
