    I went down a rabbit hole and watched 20 of your videos. I feel equipped to tackle my painting job now. I really appreciate the excellent instructions. Great job

    For new trim I would recommend paper drywall tape tucked under the trim it Aborbes everything that drops down and you can come back with a razer and take it out works out really good

      @rvrsiid that's the point. Sense it doesn't have adhesive you can slide it underneath. It doesn't move if you use like 5 foot strips. You also don't have to to worry about pealing up the finish on the floor. Just try it and see how it works then get back to me. If it doesn't work out for you then keep doing it the way you do it

      @rvrsiid drywall tape is pretty wide so half is tucked under the other half is exposed.

    I love Frog Tape. I primarily use the green FT but also use yellow FT and they both serve a purpose and are worth every penny.

    Friendly Tip! Great tips! Chris you mentioned that the ceiling, walls and trim are going the same color. Best tool for this job cutting in would be the Richard 2 1/2 Gooseneck paint brush extension. No need to get down on your knees. Also a used Gooseneck is excellent to dust many areas, avoiding having to go up on a ladder and getting on your knees. The Gooseneck guy! 🧐😌

    Chris I’ve found using swifter pads for cleaning the dust off baseboards works really good it attracts the dust off the baseboard.

    That's how we do it my man I love paint prep very satisfying

  • @Matt-my7pz
    @Matt-my7pz Рік тому

    If you tape enough you actually get quite fast at it for those that don't enjoy it. The benefit of proper prep is that it arguably takes just as long as NOT preping in the end because you have to be so careful at times and typically it's impossible for most that aren't Rocksteady like the Idaho painter with there hands. The job turns out soooo much better and the time it took doesn't amount to a lot compared to the years it's going to be looked at, plus it makes it easier and more fun to paint and recoat. Hand trimming trick areas twice can be a real pain, if you tape/ prep properly once, the painting goes so much more efficiently you save time in a lot of cases.
    Thank you TIP

    Hey Chris, even better than using your blade is a duster brush - great way to quickly press that tape and no potential damage to the floor or beading, the tape's fully compressed to the surface too.
    But yes I agree with trimming the corners using the decorators blade.

      Use the bristles or handle?

    • @mooganoid
      @mooganoid Рік тому +2

      @@TheFifapro44 bristles. I dust out the line, apply the tape then press it in place with the brush - you can get very quick using that method. The bristles enable an even pressure across the entire surface of the tape, especially when close the trim which is the most important line.

    Thank you! Man i always learn great tips from your vids and improve my efficiency! Do u have a video on quickest way to prepare a roughly painted surface to spray it to be a smooth surface? Reason I ask is since I’ve watched your videos I’ve been spraying my trim and rolling my walls and love how my trim is so smooth! Now I want to go back and “repair” all my roughly painted surfaces. One video u showed to use a sanding sponge but has to be wet. Maybe u have more tips. I just love the smooth surfaces and can’t go back from that! Want to redo my laundry room project

    Hihi nice tip, awesome channel!
    What would you do when you're painting a whole house to prevent a drip of paint that always falls on the tape and gets sucked underneath it? Is there any way to stop this phenomenon?

    Can you help me understand why you double tape? Wouldn't putting the yellow tape on the masker and then make 1 pass be better?
    Or is there a reason to use 2 layers of tape?
    Thanks

      More precise with just a roll in your hand

    To much of the prepping and waste of time tape n paper ! much quicker to use paint trim guard for cut baseboard, also I’d use Folding Padded Drop instead of drop cloth IMHO

    If you have to use delicate tape to not pull off a floor finish, then the floor guys did a poor job refinishing the wood floors

    what a waste of time and money, get a 3 inch brush, cut cleanly, and wipe off any drips or splatter if your that messy. its fresh latex paint it comes off almost any flooring with ease i could cut 2 of those rooms before you mask one.
