    Thanks for the tip. I tried this today (using regular blue tape) and it worked great. I wish I’d seen this sooner before I’d already done other rooms with bad results.

    After applying the frog tape, take a wet paper towel and wipe the edge. This activates something in the adhesive causing it to swell, creating a tight seal. Great results!

    David, Thank you for sharing. I love Frog Tape. More expensive, but works great. I am installing LV floors throughout my Florida home in January. I was suppose to install in October, but when the material arrived many boxes were damaged. Had to return the entire shipment. Of course the flooring was on backorder. It arrived last week. Of course I can’t get back to Florida until late January. I repainted walls and trim in October. I also put on two coats of finish paint on new quarter round before installing it in January. I’m hoping it doesn’t all warp and is still usable. What flooring did you install it looks similar to ours.

      Hi Bob. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. That’s awesome. We used procore plus luxury vinyl planks from Lowe’s. It was very nice. But check out my video on what it does to your saw blades. I did a whole series on every aspect of the remodel process. You should check them out. Very detailed. It sounds like you’ve had a rough time with your material and I wish you the best of luck. Keep in mind that when you purchase your flooring make sure it’s all from the same run. It will have a run date on packing box. Just to make sure colors are the same. Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks again.

    What are your thoughts on using a long putty knife along the base as you paint? I assume that doesn’t work as well?

    • @davidbryanwoodworksandmore
      @davidbryanwoodworksandmore  3 роки тому

      I’d say for sure it’s not a good idea. You can use a wallpaper blade to keep paint off carpet but that’s not good for wood floor. Wood flooring is much harder cause you see everything. So it needs to be very well done to look good. Tape is best. Done this way you’ll see is great. Did you see video link at end for when I actually applied the tape and painted? It’s a very good in-depth video.

      @@davidbryanwoodworksandmore my floor guy said not to use any kind of tape on the hardwood floors which is why I’m concerned. Maybe the frog tape sensitive would be ok?

    • @davidbryanwoodworksandmore
      @davidbryanwoodworksandmore  3 роки тому

      @@seant1435 did you just have the wood floors stained? Maybe it’s too early to use tape on them. If that’s the case I’d wait a bit before you put tape on them. Mostly you’ll be securing to shoe moulding and then to floor. But use blue 3m or frog delicate tape on the floor close to the base shoe to protect the flooring. then use the regular frog tape on the base shoe and it will also go on top of the other tape you put down to get the clean line. You really can’t mess up wood floors with any tape unless it’s just been finished. So use delicate tape like I suggested where it touches flooring just to be safe. But definitely wait a few days for clear coats to dry before.

      Thanks Mathew. The flooring I believe is in the description. It may be on the video that I link from this one where I totally show how I install the tape and prep and paint all the base trim. But here It is. From lowes warm honey oak procore luxury vinyl. It’s some crazy hard stuff to cut. Destroys the normal blades. As I show on another video.

  • @Briannafrancis-e9g

    But its leaving a sharp line behind because you waited for it to dry. So, why didn’t you remove it when the paint was wet as recommended?

    • @davidbryanwoodworksandmore
      @davidbryanwoodworksandmore  5 місяців тому

      The paint doesn’t have to be dry when you remove the tape. Obviously if you have to make two coats and you’re painting a lot, the paint will always be dry when you’re done. Plus wet paint on tape is a mess anyways. I prefer to take off when dry just for those reasons. The line isn’t visible so close to
      The floor. But if you feel you can do a better job than this, by all means post a video to show us how. Thanks.

    Try removing the tape b4 the paint drys so you don’t peel some of the new paint

    • @davidbryanwoodworksandmore
      @davidbryanwoodworksandmore  3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching. I find that while that method may work, although you risk the wet paint hitting something like flooring or walls, when your finished painting large areas, paint is dry already. So it’s no practical to do this. It’s better to wait till it’s completely dry. I’ve not had problems with paint pulling off. Just take care when pulling off tape and you won’t either. Provided you properly cleaned your moulding before painting. Otherwise paint won’t adhere well.
