  • We are back trying to survive adventure mode, last time it didn't go too well! I have played From the Depths for a long time but have stayed in designer mode and custom battles, so this time we are actually trying our skills in the FtD adventure mode and see if your skills are enough to survive and "win" this!

    The Hydrofoils need to be lower, they don't do anything like that - your craft is so light it is swimming on the first 2 layers of aluminium anyway. And the point of water skimmer is to reduce the frontal scoss setion that is inside the water as much as possible. Ramming is a really bad idea if your craft is smaller than what you want to ram. There is no reason to search for green portals when you are on warp 0, you can't get any lower.
    Anyway, Jacobs Scorn is one of the scariest crafts on warp 0 - always sneaks up on me while I am still building the first vehicle, congrats on beating it.

      That submarine with the laser cutter on top has ended a lot of warp 0 runs for me.

    Double tap E to unlock your camera from your craft to stop the bobbing of the camera. I think they added this recently and it is in the tutorial now.

      Yes it usually works but not all the time in adventure for some reason

      ​@@GMODISM Oh my bad. Yeah i've only done it in the tutorial and such. That's odd it doesn't work in adventure mode. I figured you knew about it already so I was confused.
      I hope you make some videos on the story missions! It'd be fun to see what stuff a person could try in them, how to use the modify loadout, and just general tips. I started them last night and it really helped get into the game more and straight into battles with my own stuff.

      Good idea, should probably do that before nether playthrough!

    VLMs with one turn are extremely strong early on in adventure mode. If you fire them yourself you can even use remote guidance without any GPP - and the detection error for your aimpoint is considered 0meters. Even just 2000 materials invested in a one turn remote guided VLM with shaped charge heads can demolish pretty much anything that spawns in the inital zone in adventure.

      @@GMODISM yeah, firepower only gets you so far in adventure mode. Also a few bits of advice - firstly you're going to want to optimise for running cost over upfront cost. a 40k engine that produces 800 power/mat >>>>> a 5k engine that produces 400 power/mat. Secondly you're going to have to suck it up and build a bunch of repair bots once you start getting into higher difficulties. I don't care how big you build your LAMs, stuff is going to get through and the enemy ships aren't going to wait around for you to recover from big fights - just be sure that your passive and active defences are efficient and the cost of repairs won't be crippling.

    I would recommend building a really small ap-emp aps cannon as the first weapon.

      How small can they be to still be effective you think? Like gauge and so on :)

      @@GMODISM twin 40mm at 240rpm advanced cannons are surprisingly effective.

    0:48 that little flying craft is really angry about the giant robot 😭
    It even goes through its head 🤣
    Edit: Here are some tips you might find useful:
    you can double press E to unlock the camera from your craft
    And you can lock a target by selecting the weapons and then right clicking on the target (you need to keep pressing right click to keep the lock)
    You know it's locked when the green crossair is on the target even when you move the camera.
    And sorry for my bad english, I'm french 🥖🇨🇵

      Sometimes double E does not work, but shift+capslock will.

    14:52 how did you lock to enemy ship and can you upload this boat coasting 5000 to steam so I can spawn it in when in adventure mode

      Perhaps I need an adventure mode tutorial....
      Well this old ship is gone, the last iteration of this is still there but its a bit more expensive as you will see in future episodes in this series...

    I might be wrong but I thought the locked camera was intended since you are playing as a vehicle and should experience the world as that vehicle would. (As supposed to being the commander of a fleet where you need a more strategic perspective) I try to play into the role of being Rambot by building decorative command rooms with screens linked to cameras on the outside of the vehicle

      It is not locked when starting, then it becomes locked?!?!? not a feature mate, sounds like a bug to me because the world has no bottom or land anywhere..

      @@GMODISM Well you cant make your craft into a fortress but you have to make it, and then the maincraft has to be docked within my rules 😅 well for now.

    tbh in my play of Adventure(like 2 days worth without getting past level 10)
    as long as you don't die it is fine

      a few actual tips:
      in level 5-10 I recommend for DWG ships for you to shoot anything that is dangerous first(i.e. for Jacob's Scorn it would be the saw) then their paddles by either shooting the paddles off or shooting the subconstruct's centre where it'll quickly just disintegrate
      .....
      for early game I recommend making a box-type ship for maximum speed and efficiency and also make compact but powerful supercharger engines since it'll help you outrun most enemies but this would not make you be able to use large APS canons(though you can use hydrofoils and large propellers to make it big and fast) or any powerful weapons(but usually a few Twin-150mm simple weapon is enough and some smaller guns that uses APS ammo is good)
      ......
      if you are fighting anything hard like maybe an Onyx Watch ship where it is just a fort... just shoot off it's CRAM and then it's propellers... that'll do just nice for you to mindbr- capture it

      oh also AI ain't the best at early game unless you have missiles/torpedoes/CRAM that eats your resources without need or you hate driving your craft
