Adventure Mode is really cool for how it tests the player specifically for *efficiency* above all. Efficiency in using resources at all stages of the campaign, plus efficiency of building 'on the fly' outside of carefully pre-planning all building to only when first spawning, or specifically using a blue portal. I think that is why you struggled so hard with it, especially in the early game, when so much of your building experience is in larger vehicles, weapons, etc. where efficiency just isn't an issue. You've become highly attuned to building on the large scale of battleships and huge cruisers, and so struggled to create a 50k resource vessel that can punch above its weight.
Indeed it is a test for true efficiency above all, building on the fly is really scary hahaha, the blue portal was indeed a crazy accident lol, and I must agree that recently I have not built very many smaller vessels so it is indeed a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit hard for me to prioritize on a very tight budget like a 50k ship or such :) Well perhaps in the future I will be able to make good small ships from the start on the fly if I do this a couple of times more...
I hear you,@@GMODISM and for what little it is worth, I always find it hardest to build a flier from the start. I noticed many other youtubers also seem to start out with a boat or sub and only later, after getting a basic craft that can move, mine, and fight at least a bit, give it the ability to fly, and once I followed that example it did seem easier. Flying craft tend to need the most energy and resources spent on just staying in the air, and so when we talk about efficiency of every resource spent, maybe that's why it seems the hardest to start with?
@britishknightakaminininja1123 i have only managed to do a flying start once, manages to get a stone airship of all things with basic missiles vs the WF with nukes and simple guns
I dont mind the early restarts. adventure mode is, in my experience, largely luck since I've seen 800k ships spawn super early so your never quite sure when something will just spawn end the run. Also ive noticed that when building large the armor cost sometimes doesn't update correctly until the build is reloaded.
I am very glad you don't mind the early restarts, it does indeed feel quite luck based and suddenly a group of ships does gangs up on you and suddenly you are quite dead..... hard to deal with unlucky moments when one is so close from actually gaining the upper hand in early game.... Oh... so my insanely low armour number might not be quite right then... I thought I made a insane glass cannon.... welp
Sometimes it's nothing but dwg for first 10 crafts. Other times the shock shows up and I don't have emp defense or any anti fighter weapons online and just, start over
I love how the ship evolved from a flying circuit board to a gradius style attack ship with quad cannons. super fun. Really want to see this continue please!
me too! its nice that you show where you struggle and not showing only the glorious parts of success! Thank you for that! and its quite entertaining to see te problems and how you overcome them! 🙂
Naturally hahaha, would be bad to cut it like I was acing it all along, anyways glad you did enjoy it and me might indeed have to make more episodes of this run!
Good run. Ive had more luck building a boat to start off with & once i get say 100+K materials i convert to a hover vessel. Speed is key later on i feel to stay alive. Still not made it to max difficulty as around lvl70 or so is a big difficulty spike i feel. Maybe im just a bad building lol. Really like the ship you built it was pretty cool. Plasma looks good for adventure mode. High dmg, but hard to keep the power to it i see. Good balance.
Yeah that might be a smarter move, I will definitely have to add some crazy CJEs to this in order to gain some speed and not die in the future.... Glad you like the ship I am building here, kinda half crappy design but not a box, and it does indeed work and do some damage Kinda impossible to keep the energy with RTGs at this level already lol
You really should have just built a boat xD Better to loose shots to the water on occasion than loose all control. Submarines are dangerous, but you need missile defences either way. It's fair to allow purely defensive systems.
Think my most succesful adventure starts used an offensive laser that also had a cwis controller attached utilizing long range warfare until i got other systems, at which pointed the laser internals were adjusted and it turned into a pure defense role
Don't under estimate the rebalanced Adventure mode. It took me 10 restarts just to get a ship that can survive level 1... I have more time watching you and Lathland than playing (learning game)...
Im actually doing a challenge run in the adventure mode right now, only energy weapons with only rtgs Ships get expensive so damn fast my ship went beyond 8 million materials yesterday
Only using RTGs... that is crazym it will be so heavy and so expensive, yet not very strong.... well the similar problem I have XD 8 million... wow that is expensive yes, what difficulty level are you at now?
Storage isn't the big problem@@GMODISM but rather how quickly you can recharge the batteries. With RTGs offering a very slow regeneration rate for the cost you'll have to have an absolutely massive craft with a build cost of around 1 million resource points just to have the recharge rate to power one decent railgun or PPC. I pretty much have RTGs to make the normal travel energy at full speed with some leftover to charge batteries, but will have either fuel engines or steam engines purely set to recharge batteries if I have shields or energy weapons. I often use fuel engines with superchargers set to a low RPM limit (about 0.3) as those can give a pretty good efficiency on material burn (800+). You'd need about 5 times as much space/size of RTGs to get the same energy per minute, or about 10 times the space/size as a less efficient engine. Of course, less-efficient engines in Adventure Mode can be pure suicide, so I never use super-small high output engines - as ever its a triangle, energy output, efficient running, small size, you can pick any one at some cost to both others, or seek a compromise of any two at a large cost of the third. :)
@@GMODISM the ship was about 4 Million in RTGs alone, i replaced them with a modded RTG instead and cost went from what was then 10 million back to 5,6 Million Also difficulty 80
I don't think you're doing anything by adjusting the PID multipliers when the fake set point is disabled. You need to simply enable the fake set point and input the altitude you want to go to. Also, personally, I'd recommend only using these dedicated PID blocks for adjusting the coefficients, since the plots are very helpful. Then you just copy the coefficients onto a breadboard PID, then you can do a lot more with it.
Oh, but I thought the fake setpoint was another number and unrelated since it has it's own slider... well explains my issues with it, guess it's always on in other situations so I never noticed it most likely.
@@GMODISM When it is off, the setpoint is 0. That works perfectly fine for pitch, yaw and roll for most craft - these which try to stay upright. AI PID's use maneuvers to define their set points.
Hahaha you know I basically let it space mine for an hour and went AFK, didn't die so that's cool! when doing that and staying in my world they just spawned allover, I also haven't seen that before lol, my settings are just standard :)
i think the more you move (meter) in adventure mode, the more thing spawns. (counts for enemies, gates and ressource zones). And gmodism moves alot with his mining tactics :D
It seems to be based on time@@AlexandraL-m1o when spawning the resource zones, just like it is (mainly) time with spawning enemies. RNG at every X seconds, but then I have never sat still in Adventure Mode because that would be a pretty fast way to die. :)
Hahahaha I got like insane energy generation using the RTGs they are so heavy and inefficient lol, well I just hate putting HA on a flying thing, just feels WRONG you know what I mean?

Hey m8, I got a camera control episode in my instant tutorials that shows you all the tricks: ua-cam.com/video/i0OatLah9F8/v-deo.html
RTG only is a challenge run dude! You need a steam engine to power your hovercraft if you're running plasma weapons only.
It is, but I also wanna be cheap in running cost and steam generators take material always!

Tip if your craft cant reach a portal: build a long temporary stick
