      Gwillan cycleman pro gmr 117 Don't worry, these Americans don't even pronounce American words correctly. It sounds like they're from Minnesota or Wisconsin. Most Americans don't talk like these Midwesterners, and their accent is the butt of a lot of jokes here. We're a huge country with tons of different regional accents.

    Jaffa cakes are cakes. It went to court to determine because in the UK there is no tax applied to cakes (essential item :) ) but biscuits(cookies) are taxed. So they had a legal ruling determined and do not need to charge tax for them.
    They were determined to be cakes because if you leave a cake out it becomes hard as it loses moisture. If you leave a biscuit(cookie) out it becomes soft as it takes on moisture from the air.
    Jaffa Cakes become hard when left out and therefore are cake.

    • @CallumIsRaving
      @CallumIsRaving 8 років тому +1

      They also scaled it up to the size of a proper cake to show it is clearly a small cake and not a biscuit.. :)

    • @raysie34
      @raysie34 7 років тому

      how you tell a cake from a biscuit is like this. leave it out over night if it goes soft its a biscuit if it goes hard its a cake.

    You ate the tea cakes wrong lad lol.
    First you carefully bite the dome chocolate part but not all the way through. (You can if you want to just taste chocolate and marshmallow). One you bite you peel the dome of chocolate off and scoop off the marshmallow and eat that by itself. Yum.
    The base you then just eat. Can be dry though. Great vid btw.

Most things I'm like HOW THE FUCK IS THAT A 5?! but I guess our taste buds must be different or someshit I dunno. That lassie was picky as fuck, though. I'm glad they liked our Irn Bru but, that's like our proudest achievement, haha. And the fact he mentioned Buckfast made me laugh, even though it's not Scottish brewed, we drink it like water up here, I'm drinking it as I type, haha! Should be called "British taste test 🇬🇧" There are more English products than Scottish products.
    English products; crunchie, dairy milk, areo, Jelly babies, marmite, Jaffa cakes, Harribo Tanfastic, curly whirly, flake, Fudge, double-decker.
    Scottish products; shortbread, Irn Bru, Tunnocks teacakes, Tunnocks caramel wafer, Scottish tablet, Nairn oatcakes, Macaroon, Mackies of Scotland Haggis flavoured crisps (Mackies makes amazing crisps and ice cream not far from where I live in Aberdeenshire, northeast, Scotland)

      +Martin Boyd Black pudding is not really Scottish but is awesome nontheless. White pudding is traditionally border country food (Scotland/Northumberland). To be honest, it is a bit difficult to separate the food from Northumberland with Scotland... we probably eat more haggis on Burns night here than they do in Scotland. If you don't like haggis throw a bit more whisky over it... and drink a bit more while you are at it - lol.
      Personally, although not the traditional way to cook haggis... we did a taste test using different methods of cooking when I lived in Fife... and I found deep fried haggis to be by far the best :)

    Look at the 2nd Energy line for calories (labelled as kcal), the 1st line was kilojoules. Those haggis crisps are suitable for vegans so although the flavour is similar, real haggis tastes a bit different and the texture is interesting.

    jaffa cakes were so called as many years ago you had to pay Value Added Tax on chocolate covered buscuits but not on chocolate covered cakes, infact they had to defend the name in court in the early nineties!
    That said i would agree that they are cakes as both cakes and jaffa cakes go hard when they expire however buscuits go soft when they expire!

    Did you actually get your haggis? I have a hunch that would have been confiscated by U.S. customs because there's some issue with the ingredients. I remember hearing that people wanting to put on a Robert Burns night have to smuggle haggis from Canada if they want to get the real thing.

    I've seen a lot of Americans not really like Dairy Milk, which to Brits is insane because it's the nr 1 chocolate bar here but I think it's due to what you were brought up eating, most people I know over here don't like Hershey's chocolate. I guess the two tastes are like opposites so you associate one with the other when you eat it because you're expecting them to taste similar.

    I've had that particular brand of tablet at the start before, it's not proper tablet. It's soft and has a different taste, it's more like fudge than tablet. Tablet should be hard and brittle, it should be able to crumble if you squeeze it in your fingers, like a biscuit.

    we are from scotland! we have made a video where we try american foods!
    loved the video heres what I think of the foods:
    Tablet and macaroon are awesome! everyone eats shortbread not just old people I love it! Most people eat oatcakes with cheese and other things. Teacakes and jaffa cakes are my favourite things ever! :D Never tried the crips but I've heard lots about them. I don't like marmite (no one eats it by the spoon!), irn bru, caramel wafers, jelly babies or haribo! And i think crunchie, curly wurly, dairy milk, double decker, fudge and areo are fantastic!

    As I think you said, Marmite is a Brit food, not just Scottish. It's actually used analogously to explain things/people who are either loved or hated, e.g. John McInroe/spiders.
    It is made from yeast extract, but the bottle doesn't tell you the yeast is collected from pregnant women's thrush infections.
    At least that's what it tastes like.
