May 25, 2023 Long Island Metro Fishing Report with Matthew Broderick

Bass up to 40 pounds have been caught as far East as Montauk, and heading back west, fish over 50 pounds are in the pipeline. Bluefish continue to harass all waters around Long Island, and the weakfish bite didn’t seem to suffer in Peconic and the Great South Bay also, with fish up to 12 pounds caught. The South Shore Bays are steady for fluke with the right tides and conditions also. It looks like a beautiful holiday weekend with plenty of fishing options to choose from.

Unfortunately, I'm not catching anything besides sea robins but you guys and Jeremy Wade river monster reruns always pump me up to keep fishing. Gonna catch me a fluke or slot bass soon hopefully

All catches are from the boats. No surf action whatsoever. I don’t know where these reports are coming from that say Jamaica Bay is loaded with blues and stripers. The bridges are completely devoid of fish. And this is every week I see these reports, which completely belie reality. If these guys are catching from boats, don’t tell people that the back bays are alive or that the night bite is hot, because it’s NOT.
