what makes grease GREASE is that it’s occlusive !!! thats why shes using beeswax its an occlusive so is lanolin and petroleum they are meant to stop moisture from leaving but not allow any to come in as well so it keeps your hair hydrated while not allowing it to get frizzy. Oils are emollients they are meant to smooth they dont hydrate on their own. The only thing this recipe is missing is a humectant like aloe , honey, hyaluronic acid or lactic acid which draws water into the hair. After that you just play with portion size of stuff. I make my own grease , lipbalm , moisturizer. They all have the 3 basic principles you just use what ingredients you feel suited to that area.
What type of oil to use thou she didn't say ..she as oil in the dark cup with no name ...could u plz send ingredients I could buy plz and thank you ...
Absolutely LOVE this video and I'm so glad I found it. A few days ago, i just bought some lanolin, beeswax, mango butter, pecan oil, apricot oil, and argon oil. I just took my hair down too! I can't wait to make this and put it in my 4C super thick hair. I've been listening to everyone with their "grease is bad" spiel for well over 15 yrs and I think I'm over it. I kept trying to find heavier and heavier oils to put in my hair or slicker oils to put in my hair for slip but I just can't anymore. Put straight castor oil in my hair and that was a tiny disaster, was thinking of doing straight lanolin next but this looks like a happy medium AND I can put in all the oils I just bought too? Oh yeah, I can see me and grease being good friends again, especially with this recipe!! (Side note: I am grateful for my time away from grease because after all of my hair troubles after leaving grease, I have found fermented rice water so between the rice water, this homemade grease, and some protective styling...I'm just giddy thinking about my hair growth possibilities)!
@@suzettehenry715 Oh I tried it as fast as I could get it started after posting my original comment. I even have a tiny crock pot and it is my warmer and I let stuff cool in between and if it is not soft enough then I heat it back up and add more oil. I have realized not to put way too much rice water in my hair too often because it is fine and I have also learned that onion and ginger combine well with the rice water. Rice water one time and onion and ginger the other few times, back and forth like this. The sulfur in the onion reacts with something in the rice water and my hair has been growing and this grease is my styling stuff and sealant. Love, Love, Love your recipe! Thanks for this. I feel like I have struck gold!
I sell sulphur and pine tar hair grease and LOST my recipe!!! I started looking around because I couldn't remember how much beeswax. Thank you so much .... I'm going to start with your suggested measurement to rebuild my recipe. Yesterday I was freaking out, today, I feel so much better 🤗 thank you!
Yes the beeswax can act like a barrier as does any other oil or butter that is the point of the product to help seal. I don't use oil or grease on my scalp. However I did use this mixture on my body and I had no problems with it at all.
Thanks sooo much! I was driving myself nuts with my messy cooking lol I would like to try with unrefined shea butter so do you think it is better to add it after the original recipe using another oil? Shea butter (unrefined at least) does not take the heat very well...
I'm glad I now know how to make my own hair grease. The kind black folks us has petroleoum and mineral oil which can clog the scalp and that's not good. I have one bottle of store-bought grease and after that I'm going to make my own.
I'm looking to create a butter -- I don't want to apply an insane amount of grease or pomade, though I'd be happy dealing with pomade. Do you have a recipe for a hair butter?
I guess I'm old school. I typed how to make hair grease. But reading these comments has me guessing there's a more suitable term. I like grease lol. I'm not going to call it hair pudding or pomade, not a chance
Does it make a difference what oils you use, because I just made this and its about 30 minutes and theirs no WIGGLY JIGGLY to it,so is it still ok LOLOLLLL
What the bleep are you talking about? It's grease (a thick emollient) your not going to necessarily going to have greasy hair from using grease. A cream is a mix of water and emollient. Grease isn't a product name it's what the substance is called grow up
Thank you for this recipe I love the Loc Butter and MImosa hair honey from Carols Daughter. I find out that my hair needs grease. I found out that Carols daughter is not all natural and Is basically selling cheap grease! this disappointed me cause I can make my own..
What the hell you wanna call it creamy oil whatever bro *rant over*. I like the name because if I want to buy grease and someone tells me there selling oil I'm going to assume it's a more liquid consistency. That's what we are describing when we say cream grease oil etc THE CONSISTENCY
No but you will not achieve the same consistency. if you just use oils they will not thicken up. if you use butters you will just end up with a butter. this is for those looking for the consistency of traditional hair grease without the petroleum.
I have several butter recipes on my page derbycitynaturals you can search there. I recently shot a video for a moisturizing butter using aloe and shea and will post that video soon.
Ppl please stop calling hair oil (grease) u grease your car not hair. I know we figure if its a creme consistancy its ( grease) . It actually sounds unattractive. No one wants greasey hair.
The "New" Natural hair community is so sensitive to everything, and curse old school stuff until they "have" to go back to it. Ppl seem to forget "Hair Grease" like products in the Black community weren't always made from Petroleu Jelly, they used anything from wax to a gelatin like substance, even lanolin, Glycerin,. Which are organic.
Andrea Jackson actually you wax a car which is to put a waxy coating on it. I NEVER heard the term grease when referring to a car. To grease simply is to smear something over and that is what your doing. Grease is defining the motion not the product. You smear a thin layer onto the scalp not the hair strands. its just applying a little moisture. You wax cars to provide a polished protective layer over it. Grease isn't bad because it's not meant to be applied in abundance. Just a licensed stylist pov.

So what recipe would you use?
Good to know! I was considering both honey and aloe
What type of oil to use thou she didn't say ..she as oil in the dark cup with no name ...could u plz send ingredients I could buy plz and thank you ...
Thanks!
How much honey would you recommend using in this recipe, please?
Thanks for the recipe!! I used mango butter, jojoba oil and castor oil with fragrance & it turned out great!!

Really hope you tried it and seeing some growth from the rice water and grease

Where do you buy lanolin

I'm glad I could help. I hope you are able to prefect your recipe and prosper in business.
@ Awwww, thank you so much!!!! Maybe you will start back making videos. You were before your time 🙂
Yes the beeswax can act like a barrier as does any other oil or butter that is the point of the product to help seal. I don't use oil or grease on my scalp. However I did use this mixture on my body and I had no problems with it at all.
so you can use beeswax to make grease because petrolum jelly don't work on my hair
this video was so helpful, my oil turned out perfect, thanks so much
you are so welcome my dear
I read other people comments. You can buy beeswax and essential oils from Amazon.com or WalMart.com. I am very happy with your review.
Fantastic tutorial!! this should help my dry hair. Thank you so much.
Lovely, and very simple, so helpful. Thank you.
Thanks a bunch! I did it with oil initially and I looove it!
thank u so much because I would like to make this into a pomade. my hair holds so much more moisture when using a thick pomade.
I can't wait to make my own grease because I can mix my own essential oils to nurture my hair. Yes! Thank you very much!
you are very welcome
Homogeneous? You go girl! LOL. Loved this video...thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much. I need this for me and my lil girls hair. Stay blessed
i talked to a friend who is a product maker and she said to heat the unrefined shea in a double boiler as I did over low heat and it would be fine.
Thanks sooo much! I was driving myself nuts with my messy cooking lol I would like to try with unrefined shea butter so do you think it is better to add it after the original recipe using another oil? Shea butter (unrefined at least) does not take the heat very well...
I'm happy I found this video. what company of bees wax did you use? do I need a sulfate shampoo to wash my hair?
Could I use a Hibiscus,Rosehip infused oil to make tis hair salve
GREAT video!!!
This is super helpful! Thanks 🌺
I'm glad I now know how to make my own hair grease. The kind black folks us has petroleoum and mineral oil which can clog the scalp and that's not good. I have one bottle of store-bought grease and after that I'm going to make my own.
Wow! I’m really happy I clicked of this video! Great info 😄
this is not a gel. it is a grease. you can add more wax to make it more like a pomade.
Can you use this as a hair gel to lay down natural hair?
How long does it stay in this form and can you use a preservative for longer shelf life?
It's shelf stable in this form, but you can add a preservative if you want.
Looks like a cup of toe nails. lol
do you have to use the wax stuff
is it a heavy hold and is it good for men?
I'm looking to create a butter -- I don't want to apply an insane amount of grease or pomade, though I'd be happy dealing with pomade. Do you have a recipe for a hair butter?
If you find a dollar store that sells a natural product then more power to you.
Could I possibly add lanolin and cocoa butter to this mix? How would I go about doing that?
I do this from time to time because I have high porosity. I use the microwave and a random plastic container.
is this like pomade also can I use this as gel to like do a Pompadour
What kind of oil was that in the black pot
Thank you💙💙💙💙
Will it go bad? say i wanna make a lot and package them, would it go bad over time?
No, since it contains no water, pomade can last for years. The same goes for petroleum jelly pomade.
I will try this soon!
Is there anyway to make it a bit more solid? I have waves and I need mines to be a little more solid
Experiment with adding more wax, as the wax acts as a stiffening agent.
What the bleep are you talking about? It's grease (a thick emollient) your not going to necessarily going to have greasy hair from using grease. A cream is a mix of water and emollient. Grease isn't a product name it's what the substance is called grow up
I call it pomade :) People don't seem to mind the name tht way.
😆
Can this be used on skin?
Good video, subscribed, and thumbs up!
the only place I could found raw tablets was at whole foods hope that helps
Thank you for this recipe I love the Loc Butter and MImosa hair honey from Carols Daughter. I find out that my hair needs grease. I found out that Carols daughter is not all natural and Is basically selling cheap grease! this disappointed me cause I can make my own..
You are sooo welcome, let me know how it compares.
lol yes it kinda does but it turns out fine in the end :)
I know I'm late, but can this mixture be whipped? Like after its made, can you blend it to make it creamier?
I've never whipped it but of course you can. It would not hurt the mixture at all.
Derby City Naturals Hello. ..... where can I buy the grated bees wax? I want to try this nice video and thanks in advance sweety
You can just purchase beeswax from any craft store and grate it using a regular cheese grater.
Derby City Naturals When whipped does it still have the result of hair hair grease?
***** I've never whipped it so I can't attest to the texture
Thanks for this! Using this recipe I can now stop ordering Unpetroleum Jelly from Camden Grey. Thanks for sharing Sis! :~)
isnt beeswax a barrier, therefore bad for black hair? doesnt it clog?
Is peraffin wax usable?
No I would not use paraffin wax.
Very simple. Thank you.
whut oil u use is it like olive oil or whut
So cool I will definitely try this 💜😊✨💯🤞🏾
can you make a lg amount if you want and how to store this
what is raw material ? gives name
Can i add sulfure to hair grease?
Yes
Ive never greased my car??? hmm maybe waxed my car but never greased....people never cease to amaze me....
@DerbyCityNaturals ...well I learned something new today :)
Nice!! I’m here in 2022 thx 👍🏾☺️
What the hell you wanna call it creamy oil whatever bro *rant over*. I like the name because if I want to buy grease and someone tells me there selling oil I'm going to assume it's a more liquid consistency. That's what we are describing when we say cream grease oil etc THE CONSISTENCY
Angel EXACTLY!! "They" doing the fussing need to take several seats
can you use something else besides beeswax?
I'm not sure what you can use as a replacement for beeswax. But check the Internet especially vegan sites they might have an alternative you can try.
e-wax
YES! Just count them as oils and make sure you keep the total amount of oil used the same. Let me know how it works for you :)
awesome, glad I could help.
could thus be used as a pomade for natural? waves
sure, its not as thick as a pomade but you can use it howeveryou like
How can you make it stronger so I can get those waves 😎
Add more beeswax. Experiment with the ratio of beeswax to oil until you find the desired consistency
Yes absolutely. I have used it on my skin. But warning you will be shiny lol :)
that's fantastic!
No but you will not achieve the same consistency. if you just use oils they will not thicken up. if you use butters you will just end up with a butter. this is for those looking for the consistency of traditional hair grease without the petroleum.
Can I use this to straighten my hair?
kiddmuscle Use A Perm
That is fantastic
thanks chica.
:) glad you enjoyed it
Did you start your own hair product line
@@GmoneyGcode no, I just like making my own products.
I have several butter recipes on my page derbycitynaturals you can search there. I recently shot a video for a moisturizing butter using aloe and shea and will post that video soon.

Kenisha Patton You wax the outer surface of a car, u grease the engine and so on. I merely said that u oil your scalp not grease it. That's my pov.
can i use essential oils?
