2:00 Why is being a strong Male considered Toxic? I wish someone would answer this for me. I mean it seems hypocritical to criticize a guy that likes traditionally viewed masculine things while only accepting guys that like the more traditionally feminine things. I mean if a Masculine guy is enjoying his masculine things while NOT willfully attacking Feminine Men, how is this Toxic? Honestly, you have to start being less toxic, and refraining from labeling people if you truly want acceptance. Just mind your own business, do what you do with pride and let other people express their true selves without your input and we won't bother you about being hypocrites. Jeez...you wonder why you get Majority Straight people being afraid of you because you vitriolically label us and not wanting to associate with you because we don't want to be bullied for no reason. Insulting our behavior as straight people when most straight people just want to mind their business and live their lives is the fastest way TO GET people like me, etc. etc. to be afraid of you and distance ourselves from you. Just mind your business, stop labeling people and live YOUR LIVES the way YOU want to and leave us alone for living the way we want to when we give YOU ALL the space you need. Stop all this childish behavior and name calling, seriously.
@@ericoliveira5065 Honestly, I am inclined to pray that the people harassing you just stop it, live the way they want to and give you the space and independence you need to live your life. I mean to me that's rude to be in your face about your life choices. They should be free to think the way they think, but they shouldn't be free to annoy and harass you for your choices. It's hypocritical of whoever it is in your life to make you miserable and go after who you are if you're just minding your own business and not forcing anything on them. I mean if they want to be treated with respect they should be treating you with respect, especially if you aren't dictating to them how to live. True?
If you and your neighbor both like to garden, and you like to plant roses in your garden, but your neighbor likes to kill people and bury the bodies in his, that’s a problem. And if he said “GOD, why can’t we both just live our lives!? I leave you alone if you leave me alone!” then you wouldn’t listen to that horseshit for a single moment. Toxic men don’t just get to be “left alone” because they don’t leave OTHERS alone. They way they behave impacts others negatively and they deserve to be called out for it. People aren’t just gonna mind their business around you if what doing doing is generally shitty, and if you get called out on it, that’s not on them for telling you, that’s on you for behaving that way in the first place. ESPECIALLY if you’re gonna come into a non straight-male space like this video and spout your dog-shit opinions that perpetuate problematic ideas and hurt people in the long run. Go touch some grass and mind YOUR business
I’m glad Shakesqueer isn’t on the list cause, imo, it’s one of the only “So bad, it’s good” drag race episodes. It’s my favourite episode from Season 7
In my opinion, the worst episode in the entire series is “Evil Twins”. I can’t stand when RuPaul acts like a therapist and making them reveal everything they’re insecure about, and the bottom two were there because…they weren’t deep enough? Fuck that. Fuck exploiting peoples feelings for views. If a queen doesn’t want to talk about her “inner saboteur” then don’t fucking make her. If a queen doesn’t want to bring up her traumatic backstory, don’t make her. I’ve never seen the season 6 makeover you talked about though, mainly because I watched that season on Hulu and they cut it from streaming due to request of the contestant you mention.
that one felt so exploitative. especially when they were in the bottom for not telling the whole world their insecurities. maybe they're in such a bad place mentally that they don't even know! agh
@@williamballard767 dr phil ain't even a doctor. he's an exploitative hack that sends children to concentration camps where they're physically, mentally, verbally, and sexually abused. the camp he endorses, that bad baby or whatever her name is (the cash me outside girl) was sent to, had a counselor get MURDERED because one of the children were treated so horrible they snapped and killed the guy.
The season 6 makeover episode is 40 of the cringiest minutes of TV I’ve ever seen… they should NEVER make over people who aren’t 100% into it with a good attitude because it makes for uncomfortable and just plain bad television.
In general most acting challenges are hard to excel because the scripts were mostly bad. Also it’s often v unfair that certain parts are much easier to shine.
I’d be annoyed if I got Kim, kourtney or Khloe in the kardashian rusical. Khloe isn’t as bad but none of them were wrote to be the standout. How is a kardashian personality meant to stand out against Britney, Paris, blac chynas entrance. Kris. Maybe it’s hard to envision since Cynthia did Kim bad.
"Every role has a chance to shine!" "You're playing Sally Scenestealer, she has 182 lines, all the jokes and we're only going to film you." "You're playing Wanda Wallflower. She's dead. Good luck!"
Yeah the scripts were pretty bad, but they’re also trying to capture the B-Movie aesthetic of cheesiness. Also, toxic masculinity? Girl give me a break, they’re straight dudes in their 40s/50s for the dilfs. They were not toxic, they were just out of their straight element, and 40/50 year olds can be cocky dicks
I absolutely hate when Ru plays psychologist. The drama isn't worth it. I also hated seeing Nancy Pelosi on there and getting celebrated for... clapping?
I absolutely love me some Nancy (a truly phenomenal House Speaker), don’t like politicians (AOC) included going on tv shows like this. They’re supposed to be legislating, not appearing on a reality competition show.
@@shawnboyer3267 why would that be a rule? They're people too, outside of their professions. They like/dislike things, they're into stuff, they have lives. And using their platform to speak on things they find important is absolutely acceptable.
That evil twin challenge left me with such a bad taste in my mouth. I was just waiting for one of the queens to turn around and go "it's not a fucking inner saboteur Ru, it's an anxiety disorder" I hate the whole 'inner saboteur' idea actually, I've always felt it almost puts blame on the mentally ill queens for not being 'strong' or 'brave' enough to overcome a literal disorder. Would a queen with migraines or narcolepsy or IBS be told they have an 'inner saboteur'?
fr, inner saboteur is one thing, having an anxiety disorder isn't a fault, and the queens that still do their best even when limited by anxiety or any other mental illness deserve to be complimented for their perseverance, not called out for not being able to snap out of it
It’s less important of course, but it also just doesn’t make sense ad a theme. An inner saboteur is not the same as an evil twin, and wanting the two looks to contrast in that way makes no sense. The queens seemed to be pretty unsure how to interpret it too: depicting eg issues around negative body image is gonna look very different to an evil counterpart of yourself, and a good vs evil dichotomy is very different visually to a confident/self assured/empowered vs not confident one, so the challenge is hard to succeed in. The queens were called out for shallow or inauthentic interpretations, but how do you excel in a design challenge without clear direction on what you are meant to design?
The discomentary thing reminds me of something that really bugs me and is mostly Ru showing her age. I hate how throughout seasons she expects queens (who were mostly born in the 90s) to know all of these - fairly niche - 70s references and kinda berates them for NOT knowing them. Like, sure, queer history etc is important in the community, but expecting people to know loads and loads of references (a lot of which are just disco etc and not necessarily queer) from two decades before they were even born is really unfair.
this^^^ and especailly when ru doesn't do much if anything to actually educate them about references she's annoyed they don't get. Either actually make an effort to gteach people past mentioning it and the occasional 2 min clip in a themed challenge or stop getting so annoyed at young people born in a completely different generation
PREACH!! Mr. Paul pulls stunts like this but at the same time keeps having the majority of the cast be super young drag babies. Then sends home the older queens cause they aren't spring chickens lol...
Yes! And another thing I don't like is that Ru will walk around the werkroom while they're getting ready for Snatch Game, and will see like, a single feather on the table, and completely guess the character out of thin air 🙄😆
Okay but the way drag race keeps calling their design challenges “balls” when there is zero actual ballroom is….. a choice. When is WOW going to give us an ACTUAL ballroom challenge 👀👀
I think in the older seasons they might have been willing to do it, but now I feel like they’re going to be too wary of queens injuring themselves if they’re not familiar with how to perform well. Especially when you consider some of the looks some queens wear haha.
I think it's because the show is structured around queens ability to do what Rupaul and the NYC camp scene did, not actually the ball scene. AFAIK Ru doesn't have any real ballroom bona fides, so they're never gonna have a real ballroom challenge. Also very few of the queens (arguably none) have the technical skill to compete
I think a specific problem UK drag race suffers from as well as DU and UK vs the world, to a smaller extent, is Ru not getting the Culture and references and making the challenges about outsider stereotypes which leads to bad challenges. I got so fustrated on a UK season that two challenges were entirely based around american consumer goods, peloton and alexa aren't british they're american and it felt so dismissive of what the UK is and does. Also it kills the snatch game of UK and DU because any national icons we know but an american host doesn't know make it seem like a bad snatch game when in reality it's a lot funnier than its edited to be, as well it means the queens have to think about people ru will know rather than people from home, like scarlet harlet doing a really annoying and unfunny makuley that made ru laugh when I was looking forward to a danny dyer.
Yes. They also did that with Canada's Drag Race, though it was a little better since it was Canadians judging, but I'll never forget how horrid the "not sorry aboot it" challenge was. We use manners, not to be nice, but because it's bare minimum to say please/thank you/sorry. Thinking we're kind is stupid.
UK Drag Race should have been hosted by, you know... an actual drag queen from the UK. Sure, it may not have RuPaul's name directly attached to it, but it would have ensured that everyone was on the same page regarding the UK drag scene and UK culture in general.
No I’m sorry. Season 14 snatch game could’ve been edited as a better episode with a clear top and bottom. Did we not get corroborated evidence from queens that they cut several laughs from RuPaul throughout the episode just to make them look bad to mettle so they could do the lipsync lalaparuza
I agree but also if you’re going to do a ranking you have to decide on some consistent standard, and it seems here the decision has been made to assess each episode on its face, as-is, and not get into the weeds of what it could have been if this that and the other
damn i didnt know that, thats such a shame, especially bc i felt like a lot of those queens could have been hilarious, if there was no shady editing (there always is tho lmao) and it was simply just a bad snatch game honestly they should have just redone it, the final episode released was definitely in my top 3 most unbearable episodes i dont plan on ever watching again, and i really fell in love with a lot of the s14 queens. they deserved better that.
We also got tea that Deja lipsynced for her pleasure and it got cut; couldn’t inflate her ego too much when they never planned on her winning. So weird.
Personally the inner sabatour was the worst one for me. The queen's go through sych evals and they have to basically show their mental health on the runway was wrong to me.
When it comes to acting challenges, I just hope that the producers see the success that was the super teaser from season 14 and continue letting queens write their own scripts. I just can't stand any more acting challenges with outdated and unfunny references 😭😭
I feel like all of the scripts just have references from past seasons. Like it just gets boring when the same joke is made in every acting challenge lol
DU episode 5 takes the cake for me. I think the producers thought they would have an "Emmy" moment where Ru ends blackface lol . But it just came across as the show trying to gloss over racism. RuPaul accepting an apology that wasn't hers to accept. Then Scarlet won after literally turning the entire audience against her. Incorporating real world issues into the story of the show is always a gamble and they lost hard on this one. They sent Willam home for less.
@@callumfootitt5366 girl... We're talking about people that have literally comitted crimes... It's not about the show. Sherry is a good drag performer but she has done so many bad things, you'd be supporting those things and her whole career if you cheer her. Lets just not do that, not talk about them, forget they even exist and move on
@@JackFedYT Can't wait! Especially after the latest AS All winners episode where the guest judge was amazing and contributed to the challenge being so great.
They double-screwed Jocelyn. They also VERY obviously put a filter over her brides face after Michelle called her metallic (making her look COMPLETELY different)
They didn't do anything on purpose, RuPaul always say I don't sabotage or make anybody different for the cameras. That episode shouldn't even be around. Because of the lawsuit they had to take that episode off the air. P.s. it was Joslyn time to go
@@realityrise3312 Ru was 100% bullshitting. They do shit like that ALL THE TIME. I can;t believe you didn't know this. And they make many people VERY different in the edit and even splice different bits of someones speech to make fake sentences etc
One episode in particular I hated was the "One Queen Show" on Season 12. It was WAY too obvious they were pushing Sherry Pie to the finale and doing everything they could to not put her in the bottom. She played the same old lady character she had been doing all season, wasn't funny, and went way over her allotted time. Easily should've been in the bottom that week.
sherry pie in general was really pushed forward for no reason. she was boring, her style was ugly, she was not funny and just overall I really didnt like her. they did that too with Mik (although I love her I can't say she was better than some of the other queens) Symone (they just kept praising her no matter what), kandi got saved for no reason, etc.
Season 13 opening, felt so uncomfortable watching it, and then watching the "winner circle" laughing and thinking they are the best... In the beginning of the season i hated all of them for that.
Well and I say this not because I dislike Gottmik but because I think it does highlight the fault of this set up and 13 overall when you find out Gottmik auditioned with. With this kind of set up being directly shown, it makes me wonder how much other tracks were favored for other queens to be in the winner’s group that makes it almost have another layer of uncomfortably to me knowing production so clearly wanted to orchestra things to be so meddled. It wasn’t fun, made queens and audiences likely feel shitty, and just shows the worst of production from the start
i've always said that this show is great DESPITE the production, not because of it. Drag Race has always been carried by the queens on the season. the judging has almost always had questionable moments, bad storylines, and just shitty unfair placements overall imo. you can really tell that's all true bc after Sherry's rewrite off of season 12, the production didn't get to meddle nearly as much as they usually did bc a lot had to be re-edited on the fly, and the season was better for it(it still sucked bc they forced that dumb Brita v Aiden storyline but other than that lmao)
I don't remember everything but I think that one challenge where one team were impersonating Mariah Carey (who has so many iconic quotables) and they weren't even familiar with anything she did. It was hard to watch and I remember how I felt about the episode and how bad it was.
worst episode of the whole drag race franchise to me is Drag Race Italy's episode in which two queens get punished for causing heavy drama (one of them got into a heated fight with production, while the other got mad at the judges) by...lipsync-ing? and so just one of them gets sent home??? what type of punishment is that.
@@alicefinardi1025 im not even an Enorma stan (while im an Ava fan) but it still felt like she got robbed so bad. Stuff like that always happends in DR US and deciding who to send home by lipsync isnt even a fair punishment? i hated it
@@labelial regardless of who you were rooting for, i think you will agree that Enorma was the absolut best in the Snatch Game, while Ava gave one of the worst performances (if not the worst) so it felt extra unfair that Ava stayed in the competition over Enorma in that same episode
The season 11 makeover will forever be my worst episode choice because it wasn’t just bad and cringy to watch, but the judging choices were actively working against good storytelling in favour of pushing production favourites. They could have given Vanjie a long-deserved win and finally sent Silky home, but elected not to for… reasons.
Agree on Vanjie, she fully deserved the win for the makeover. For Silky though…I do think that Ru 1) knew she wanted to somehow get a Brooke vs Yvie lip sync, 2) keep Silky because she made good TV and because she had storyline with Yvie, so that gave them an out if Brooke flopped and/or her storyline with Vanjie didn’t get its big dramatic momeny, and 3) didn’t have many options for Miss Congeniality (Shuga…maybe Mercedes? are the only two I could’ve seen winning it otherwise). That meant that Nina went home, and rightfully so, considering the bottom two was correct. I think it was bad enough for a double sashay, but Silky’s messiness was at least a bit entertaining. The most entertaining part of Nina’s lip sync was A’keria’s description of it.
I don't know if I'm missing or forgetting something here, but my first thought would be UK S3 E6. Sure, maybe on its own it's not the single worst episode ever, but I feel like in the context of its season, it just feels so awful to watch. It features a double elimination, coming off the back of one of the most mean-spirited episodes ever where Ru doesn't give anyone a challenge win, so it gives this vibe that Ru just does not care for this cast outside of Krystal at all. The two people eliminated were both fan favourites and honestly up until that point had been the heart and soul of the season, and neither elimination felt fully justified in the context of the challenge or the lipsync. Combined with the actual Snatch Game itself being one of the all-time worst and probably more deserving of a Bottom 6 than S14's, it just left a very nasty taste in my mouth. Maybe strictly speaking it isn't the worst ever, but it's definitely the most negatively I've ever reacted to an episode relative to how invested I was in the season. But that's just my two cents.
@@lrizzard But that's the thing, I think; Scarlett was pretty much just as bad as Vanity, River, and Krystal were too, but somehow Choriza was the one in the bottom? And then River goes home even though she clearly won the lipsync? There were a thousand different ways production could've done this episode to make it make sense
Worst episode is when Widow got sent home. Ruined the season for me because of how produced it felt. And then they saved both when it was Heidi and Jackie after so you know they had a double save like wtf ? Gigi being pushed by production so obviously by not being in the bottom. So annoying.
If there is any treatment to a Queen that makes me angry is the one to Electra Shock. My God, miss thing is the entire package, and they threw her away like that! Choices were made I guess.
Down Under was such a disappointment because it was clear to the audience that the NZ girls were the most entertaining but production kept trying to make Art, Karen, and Scarlet happen in the most obvious, bullshit way. To Scarlet's credit, I actually did really like her pole dancing routine.
I had totally forgotten Karen from Finance got away with truly detestable balloon talent while KitaMean and Elektra Shock were thrown in the bottom. I try and defend my hometown show where I can but that just triggered me all over again 😂.
Karen got away all season long. Except for ep 1 where you cannot say she didnt slay, all the other episodes she displayed zero talent except for having money to buy fancy clothes. She literally flopped every challange. how do you even do that.
about the makeover in season 6, i genuinely don’t know what production was thinking getting that basketball player on. the fact that he was obviously SO touchy about his image to the point where he actually threw up after the runway made for such uncomfortable viewing
The most recent All Stars acting challenge shows a different angle of weakness in the format of the challenge itself. Everyone is good, so it truly comes down to who has the best roles. In other seasons, small roles might be able to win if the actors in the lead roles aren't good. Jinkxx did absolutely everything she could with her role, but it was never going to be big enough to compensate when more standout characters landed for the queens who go those parts.
Really expected that SheMZ one from All Stars 5 to be on here. It was truly the most bizarre thing to watch + you could really tell it was a challenge the writers pulled out of their asses. not to mention filming them outside on the lot really took you out of the world of the show imo.
Take care of yourself!!! We love love love your videos but understand life can be a whole lot sometimes so don't feel bad if you need to take your time
The Warhol episode from AS3 is definitely on my list. The challenge with the soup cans and then finding out what went out with Aja and Ru that was cut. Watching it back felt like the judges were so rude to her just because she didn’t buy into the BS that Andy was a great guy. Not to mention her runway look was incredible.
I remember when some of the AS4 queens were posting their clown looks and Mo posted her's and it had such a deep meaning and was so intricate and would've been such a gag on the runway... but they were used for that.
The thing about DU ep5 is frankly, I don't feel it's the place of any one single person of colour to "forgive" racism. Scarlett should've been eliminated on the spot, storyline be damned. Same for Karen from Finance, whose racist doll collection and tattoo were known to production during casting, ffs.
Hands down without a doubt, the DU talent show, but if we are just looking at us, probably the s11 makeover. It was badly judged but worst of all, just really boring S10s "evil twin" episode also is one of the worst, its really uncomfortable and cringy that the girls had to exploit their mental issues/illnesses and the fact that the two most mentally drained queens were in the bottom... Idk maybe some people love that episode, I do not.
I thought there was something very strange about that "Inner Sabator (sp?)"challenge and the fact that most of the girls were in Cave Woman drag. Awful.
Worst challenge of each season (that I've seen) in my opinion: 1: Female fighter makeover (mostly because of the judging choices) 2: Cherry pie pole dancing challenge 3: Sci-fi movie trailer challenge 4: Pregnant DILFs 5: Final Three (mostly due to how Roxxxy was acting) 6: Drag My Wedding 7: Ru Hollywood Stories (because it was so odd, yet so unmemorable) 8: Drag Politics (just boring to me) 9: Morning talk show challenge (it was just too cluttered and clunky to me. RIP Naya Rivera) 10: Pharmarusical or evil twin challenge 11: Monster Ball (huge missed opportunity. Way too many queens) 12: World's Worst (Heidi, Jackie and Gigi should have been the top team) 13: Social Media Rusical or Henny, I Shrunk the Drag Queens 14: Snatch Game AS1: Gaff-In AS2: Makeover AS3: Wedding skit AS4: Sex and the Kitty Girl AS5: She-MZ UK1: Water commercial challenge UK2: Snatch Game UK3: Dragaton or Draglexa Canada 1: Her-itage Moments Canada 2: Screech, the horror movie challenge UK vs. The World: RuPaul Ball Down Under: The whole thing
The one on all stars with the American horror story challenge made me pause and stare at the ceiling , wishing a bus would final destination crash though my room so I don't have to finish watching it.
Honestly, the idea of getting the queens in and immediately splitting them into a "Winner circle" and a "Losers circle" and having them choose who they think is the weakest out of everyone right away is bad not only for the queens who are put in the "Losers circle" because they get put there without the viewers really getting to know them well enough and prove themselves, but also from a production point because it immediately gives the queens in the "Losers circle" a disadvantage which is unfair
I think what makes it very crappy framing it like this was that this “bias” seemed so heavily present in a lot of critiques and judgement throughout the season too. That production treated a lot of them from the start with this judgement to form storylines not about how good certain queens were overall but that winner’s needed to mostly focus on the positive while over and over those in the “loser” were picked off/dismissed
-Any acting challenge is bad for granted, with few exceptions. -Any improv challenge is bad, with even rarer exceptions (and judging is bad as well, weirdly. You gotta pay attention to them to see favoritism). -Comedy and roast challenges, and Snatch Game are a hit or miss, normally a miss. -Design challenges are great, but they tend to be really unfair.
Great choices! The only ones I'd add are the Spoof! and Despy awards episodes of Season 7, which both suffered from bullshit judging, bad runways and bad lip synchs, and the Cheerleading episode of Season 9, which is possibly tied with Season 12 for being the worst 2nd episode of a regular Drag Race season. Killed all the hype the season had from the premiere, didn't showcase any of the queens, hurt the queens, and had a weird lipsynch.
@@Meltingm0ment : What was funny in the ep, aside from Katya's famous Bob Ross quote? I'm serious, I can't remember any of the jokes in that ep aside from that, and I can't remember what Max and Pearl did to deserve the win. All I remember is MKD getting sent home for "welcyum".
S12 second premiere episode is one of the best, IMO. Not only did we get a glimpse of what S12 was going to be and it included Sherry, but it had drama and was setting the tone for a very interesting season
Aussie here - while we love that our series was a complete shitshow (queens excluded) it is deeply in character for us that our attempt at something, even if it wasn't made by us, would be a shitshow of epic proportions. Very glad you tore it apart :) and please do a deep dive into every little crappy bit of it please if you want to!
Oh and if you're looking for ideas, a deep dive on what makes a compelling/interesting Untucked vs total snooze fest Untuckeds. I find that Untuckeds are very season dependent. Some queens just have great chemistry in Untucked that makes them great to watch, some have explosive chemistry that lead to fights like in S3 or S4s, and then we get the really weird S7 Untuckeds.
if this video has taught us anything...we might need some new people deciding what the challenges are, and especially when writing acting challenge scripts. not to replace anyone, per se, but just some new fresh ideas in addition with the tried and true ones.
The fight in the S4 makeover is so cringe yet so good. The guy trying to play it off as a joke because he was feeling fierce felt so awkward. Chad ate him up though! WITH YOUR RUDE ASS ATTITUDE!
I disagree about ALL improv challenges being bad, in All Stars 4 Kennedy and Ben Della gave us an amazing performance in their improv challenge, others were good too, like Trixie and Shangella.
For Canada I feel that the first episode on Season ones judging was wack in Regards to Rita’s win and Boa being in the top. I think it should’ve been Kiara and Anastarzia in the top with Anastarzia winning. Rita had the cool coat with the really bad dress underneath and won, but you know who else had a really cool coat with and better outfit under it? Starzie. I don’t think Boa had a bad outfit but in my opinion it wasn’t on the level as Starzie, Kiara, or Jimbo
On note of S14 Snatch Game - I think statement that this episode would be hard to save is very debatable. I'm pretty sure Daya said that there were actual tops and bottoms that could be picked. The editing was a choice here. Why? First of all, it's great setup to lip sync episode that they obviously had planned in advance anyways as you said, but also it makes AS7 Snatch Game look good on top of that, which goes very well with edit they went for that season.
A Canadian episode I don’t like, episode 4 of season 1. That design episode, I agreed with Rita’s win, but that’s when we got JBC shading Jimbo “you all get the same time, use it better maybe”. It was also rough to see Tynomi get torn down for the 1000x that season when she was ok. Priyanka, Lemon and BOA looked a mess but were clearly saved due to their charisma
I've always wondered about the point of the immediate lip syncs in season 13. Do you think that it was a COVID thing that they were trying to somehow build into the show? Like if everyone was supposed to isolate/quarantine/not be in a large group when they first got there, and this was a way of trying to solve that? Otherwise I don't get it.
UKS3’s treatment of Charity Kase was in my opinion the worst production decision for the season. Charity had so much uniqueness to bring, but the judges did not see it. But they should have known fans would see it, and how the season would become more bland after she left, for the viewer.
As an Australian, Down Under are the worst seasons to come out of drag race. I could go on for hours and hours about how much I hate it, which sucks because I think all the queens did a really good job
I'm Australian and down under makes me so sad 😭 Art is my local queen and she's amazing but was totally shafted by production, Karen is also way better than they showed and the American judges just didn't get our sense of humour which made for some terrible terrible judging choices
Opinion: acting challenges should 1000% be written by the girls. The super tease episode last season showed how AMAZING acting challenges can be. That entire episode was everything. One of the best challenges just ever.
For episode 5 of down under Etcetera, while being the main one who called Scarlet out getting eliminated, also didn’t deserve to be anywhere near the bottom. Scarlet, Maxi, Art and Karen all did worse than her and she also had a really nice runway.
The gaff-in is a solid choice for AS1 but imo Queens Behaving Badly is just unwatchable. Idk if it's the secondhand embarrassment or if it was genuinely That Bad but my god, I can't even think about that episode without cringing
The first episode of season 13 put me off the show so hard that I haven’t 100% finished a season since watching it (runways, talent show, all design challenges, all music challenges, finale. Skip the rest unless the reviews are stellar. No patience for production bullshit.) The biggest sin (and there are many) of that format for me is losing the entrances. My most rewatched parts of any season are the entrances and the finale full cast runways, I love when everybody gets a moment and I love seeing everybody meet and plant all those storyline seeds. Cutting the entrances for the stupid lipsync twist devalues the whole season in a way no other episode has managed imo and I think it hurt the casts’ long term memorability too. Thanks I hate it.
down under was a big yikes. idk if it’s just me but smth abt the camera quality feels so surreal, like when you get a new pair of glasses and it’s so clear that it’s blurry. idk
I never comment on a video before watching it but I’m already bummed Snatch Game Italia isn’t on here because I’m still mad about it. It’s so long. The game isn’t even played right and their special guest steals the show. The bullshit “lip sync to not be disqualified” conceit. The fact that it spoils the runway before it happens. It starts saying, “Hey, we’re at the halfway point!” and only one queen is eliminated. I’d watch any DU episode before watching that again.
I don't really think the World's Worst challenge is that much worse than a lot of other acting challenges, my theory is that S12 was a huge boost in viewership, so for a lot of people, the World's Worst was the first example of a really bad challenge they'd seen, whereas to someone who's watched all of the show, it's not particularly special.
Robin Mansions, Sharon's makeover, was the oldest man in that group. He had the most life experience and was a grandfather, I think he just had a really dry sense of humour. If Jiggly or Latrice had said, "Get off our fucking runway, bitch," it would have been taking for the camp joking and bitching that it was. None of the girls had a relationship with this man so you can see how his efforts to joke with may not have gelled or did not gel. Robin Mansions admitted as such in untucked. To call him not a good person is a bit of a stretch. As dodgy as the producers are they would never have allowed violence or actual abuse. If I was on a show like that as a makeover guest I'd be doing my hardest to fit in and join the party with those girls. Those men would have only had to be around the girls in the workroom for a short time to pick up on the banter.
Omg I totally forgot about all of the faults of the discomentary episode cuz literally all I can think about when I remember that episode is Olivia. Lux. It was her episode from start to finish and really made her a star for me.
“All happy families are alike, but every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way” Leo Tolstoy in “Anna Karenina”, the quote I immediately thought of when you were doing the intro
I'd have to say Holland Season 2 Episode 7 for multiple reasons like Keta Minja CLEARLY beat Vavlidi in the lip sync but was sent home. The challenge sucked it was not very good and you lost track half way through. The challenge was kinda like the "inner saboteur" challenge but instead of the girls making themselves over as their inner saboteur they have to make themselves over as each other. I could go on and on and this episode but especially what made the episode fall was that Vavlidi wasn't DQED for having an illegal phone. (but I guess they aren't dqing anybody and making them lip-sync. Unless your name is Scarlet Adams.)
As1 that weird not snatch game is the worst for me. In an already bad season, that’s running at a breakneck pace with constant double eliminations that challenge was not only chaotic and weird it was deeply unfunny. It’s the one episode I can think of where I truly felt completely lost and had no idea what was happening
I’m honestly of the opinion that they should spend as much time on learning improv as learning something like choreo. Sure, people will be better or worse from the getgo, but it is JUST AS MUCH of a skill set with tricks to make things seem natural, or if not, just easier. SO MANY flops could have been so easily avoided if things like escalation and mirroring could be taught…
I had a real response to this, but I don't wanna give you what you want.
So take this ratio instead
are you kidding me? lol i would like very much that distance you're mentioned
Go touch some grass and mind YOUR business
oh no! the straight man feels attacked! anyway

Fully had me for a second!
I’m glad Shakesqueer isn’t on the list cause, imo, it’s one of the only “So bad, it’s good” drag race episodes. It’s my favourite episode from Season 7
It gave us the iconic Jasmine vs Kennedy lipsync
Shakesqueer is ICONIC. It's so bad but so entertaining at the same time.
Head cheerleader is gonna be me!
RuPaul yelling is always rewatchable hahaha
@@raemonmedina7870 I love that Kylie song just because of the lipsync! every time I listen to it i think of jasmine going up and down to the beat lol
Dave is an icon. He’s a legend. And he is forgiven for the murder of Judy Garland.
after all these years!
No because the recall moment jinkx pulled during snatch game was such a deep cut and GENIUS
Yes!!!! I thought the same!! It was so uncomfortable to watch too
You mean “Ruveal” ;)
Seriously though, Ru ain’t Dr. Phil no matter how hard she tried
that one felt so exploitative. especially when they were in the bottom for not telling the whole world their insecurities. maybe they're in such a bad place mentally that they don't even know!
@@msvenuscrane I can see why Nina was pissed at Alexis, I would fight Alexis if she did that to me
"Every role has a chance to shine!"
"You're playing Sally Scenestealer, she has 182 lines, all the jokes and we're only going to film you."
"You're playing Wanda Wallflower. She's dead.
Definitely. Even Santa's School for Girls sucked on as7 with the best cast ever because the writing was so bad
I absolutely hate when Ru plays psychologist. The drama isn't worth it.
I also hated seeing Nancy Pelosi on there and getting celebrated for... clapping?
I loved having AOC on though. Especially since she's a super fan of the show
Yeah Nancy’s always kinda cringe. Doesn’t really add anything
I fucking hate the whole "inner saboteur" talk Ru always give
I absolutely love me some Nancy (a truly phenomenal House Speaker), don’t like politicians (AOC) included going on tv shows like this. They’re supposed to be legislating, not appearing on a reality competition show.
@@shawnboyer3267 why would that be a rule? They're people too, outside of their professions. They like/dislike things, they're into stuff, they have lives. And using their platform to speak on things they find important is absolutely acceptable.
That evil twin challenge left me with such a bad taste in my mouth. I was just waiting for one of the queens to turn around and go "it's not a fucking inner saboteur Ru, it's an anxiety disorder"
I hate the whole 'inner saboteur' idea actually, I've always felt it almost puts blame on the mentally ill queens for not being 'strong' or 'brave' enough to overcome a literal disorder. Would a queen with migraines or narcolepsy or IBS be told they have an 'inner saboteur'?
fr, inner saboteur is one thing, having an anxiety disorder isn't a fault, and the queens that still do their best even when limited by anxiety or any other mental illness deserve to be complimented for their perseverance, not called out for not being able to snap out of it
yes, they would lmao
at least, they would if they used it as an excuse
Bob needs to replace her ASAP
@@johnnybaxter8078 Someone definitely does.
PREACH!!
I had a whole script about this! I couldn’t work it into a good video but I do find it really interesting
I think in the older seasons they might have been willing to do it, but now I feel like they’re going to be too wary of queens injuring themselves if they’re not familiar with how to perform well. Especially when you consider some of the looks some queens wear haha.
@@kpbevan_904 Shame really. Especially with Pose and Legendary giving a great spotlight to Ballroom.
@@aleclynch6186 aja said hi
Also someone’s Ru and Michelle parrot phases without really getting it
@@dollycxrpse4022 ok but that song was good but the way Canada's drag race brands off of Canadian stereotypes Itself
UK Drag Race should have been hosted by, you know... an actual drag queen from the UK. Sure, it may not have RuPaul's name directly attached to it, but it would have ensured that everyone was on the same page regarding the UK drag scene and UK culture in general.
evil twins is 100% the worst for me, felt awful for cracker and kameron especially it was basically like a way to retraumatise them
No I’m sorry. Season 14 snatch game could’ve been edited as a better episode with a clear top and bottom. Did we not get corroborated evidence from queens that they cut several laughs from RuPaul throughout the episode just to make them look bad to mettle so they could do the lipsync lalaparuza
Agreed!
I still stand by that Lady Camden and Bosco weren't as bad as they made it seem.
This. This is the one!

I think the absolute worst was Miles Heizer. It's like he wasn't even there, lmao.

Yes!!!!!
Down under talent show is 100% my worst. I didnt even watch the final after that. I just googled to make sure Scarlett didn't win
I was going to comment this VERY SAME THING!

i've always said that this show is great DESPITE the production, not because of it. Drag Race has always been carried by the queens on the season. the judging has almost always had questionable moments, bad storylines, and just shitty unfair placements overall imo. you can really tell that's all true bc after Sherry's rewrite off of season 12, the production didn't get to meddle nearly as much as they usually did bc a lot had to be re-edited on the fly, and the season was better for it(it still sucked bc they forced that dumb Brita v Aiden storyline but other than that lmao)

worst episode of the whole drag race franchise to me is Drag Race Italy's episode in which two queens get punished for causing heavy drama (one of them got into a heated fight with production, while the other got mad at the judges) by...lipsync-ing? and so just one of them gets sent home??? what type of punishment is that.

But that's just my two cents.
yupppp this is why i haven't rewatched season 3 honestly
I really see your point but, seeing how UK3 got better from that point on, I think it was a necessary evil from Ru
i also want to add how blatantly they saved scarlett also ruined the mood for me that episode
@@lrizzard But that's the thing, I think; Scarlett was pretty much just as bad as Vanity, River, and Krystal were too, but somehow Choriza was the one in the bottom? Wasn’t that episode 5 of UK Season 3? I thought 6 was Snatch Game.
Worst episode is when Widow got sent home. Ruined the season for me because of how produced it felt. And then they saved both when it was Heidi and Jackie after so you know they had a double save like wtf ? Gigi being pushed by production so obviously by not being in the bottom. So annoying.

Down Under was such a disappointment because it was clear to the audience that the NZ girls were the most entertaining but production kept trying to make Art, Karen, and Scarlet happen in the most obvious, bullshit way. To Scarlet's credit, I actually did really like her pole dancing routine.
Great comment. Totally agree.

LMFAO at you putting BOTH of worst Down Under’s episodes from the same season in this! 😂
I would dispute this, but only because DU has more awful episodes that could possibly be contenders for the crown, like the Snatch Game.
Jack, Im happy Bob noticed you on their podcast, congrats!
It was badly judged but worst of all, just really boring
S10s "evil twin" episode also is one of the worst, its really uncomfortable and cringy that the girls had to exploit their mental issues/illnesses and the fact that the two most mentally drained queens were in the bottom... Idk maybe some people love that episode, I do not.
I thought there was something very strange about that "Inner Sabator (sp?)"challenge and the fact that most of the girls were in Cave Woman drag. Awful.
Draglexa brought us Michelle's line
"The Devil wears PRIMARK!"
Which for a British person saved the entire episode 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Worst challenge of each season (that I've seen) in my opinion:
1: Female fighter makeover (mostly because of the judging choices)
2: Cherry pie pole dancing challenge
3: Sci-fi movie trailer challenge
4: Pregnant DILFs
5: Final Three (mostly due to how Roxxxy was acting)
6: Drag My Wedding
7: Ru Hollywood Stories (because it was so odd, yet so unmemorable)
8: Drag Politics (just boring to me)
9: Morning talk show challenge (it was just too cluttered and clunky to me. RIP Naya Rivera)
10: Pharmarusical or evil twin challenge
11: Monster Ball (huge missed opportunity. Way too many queens)
12: World's Worst (Heidi, Jackie and Gigi should have been the top team)
13: Social Media Rusical or Henny, I Shrunk the Drag Queens
14: Snatch Game
AS1: Gaff-In
AS2: Makeover
AS3: Wedding skit
AS4: Sex and the Kitty Girl
AS5: She-MZ
UK1: Water commercial challenge
UK2: Snatch Game
UK3: Dragaton or Draglexa
Canada 1: Her-itage Moments
Canada 2: Screech, the horror movie challenge
UK vs. The World: RuPaul Ball
Down Under: The whole thing
The one on all stars with the American horror story challenge made me pause and stare at the ceiling , wishing a bus would final destination crash though my room so I don't have to finish watching it.
the del rio trio in S12 by heidi, jackie and gigi was a pure gold, i love every second of it
I love adore’s ‘think’ lip sync. Think it really showcases her so well, she looks fierce, it’s just great!
it’s so fun and cute! one of my favorites lip syncs from season 6
So glad that they haven't done it sense lol
Killed all the hype the season had from the premiere, didn't showcase any of the queens, hurt the queens, and had a weird lipsynch.
despy awards was so funny tho
@@Meltingm0ment : What was funny in the ep, aside from Katya's famous Bob Ross quote? I'm serious, I can't remember any of the jokes in that ep aside from that, and I can't remember what Max and Pearl did to deserve the win. All I remember is MKD getting sent home for "welcyum".
@@thebumpercar1344 idk i lied for fun
@@Meltingm0ment : That is actually brilliant. You had me questioning my memory for a whole minute there. I'm so easy to gaslight it's not even funny.
The thing about snatch game 14 is that, by waiting an extra episode for an elimination, they still basically had a non-elimination
Listen I know the evil twins challenge was rough BUT Aquaria gave us one of the best runways we've seen on the show that episode
S7 untucked is unmatched
And then there's S5 where it was a literal BATTLEFIELD
@@oliversmithlawrence : It really feels like an acid trip sometimes. Teleporting Katya and all.
if this video has taught us anything...we might need some new people deciding what the challenges are, and especially when writing acting challenge scripts. not to replace anyone, per se, but just some new fresh ideas in addition with the tried and true ones.
It’s the down under black face one lmao
Oh hands down
The fight in the S4 makeover is so cringe yet so good. The guy trying to play it off as a joke because he was feeling fierce felt so awkward. Chad ate him up though! WITH YOUR RUDE ASS ATTITUDE!
that porkchop loading dock episode made me feel so bad. we're seeing people's dreams shatter for a whole episode.
I disagree about ALL improv challenges being bad, in All Stars 4 Kennedy and Ben Della gave us an amazing performance in their improv challenge, others were good too, like Trixie and Shangella.
"What drag queen is gonna build a hotel or motel?"
Trixie: 👁👄👁
JBC wasn't wrong though. Jimbo looked really bad.
I got a good laugh from the Alexis opening the can clip 😂
me too
Worlds worst gave us “fierce brock ally” it is peak
I've always wondered about the point of the immediate lip syncs in season 13. Do you think that it was a COVID thing that they were trying to somehow build into the show? Like if everyone was supposed to isolate/quarantine/not be in a large group when they first got there, and this was a way of trying to solve that? Otherwise I don't get it.
UKS3’s treatment of Charity Kase was in my opinion the worst production decision for the season. Charity had so much uniqueness to bring, but the judges did not see it. But they should have known fans would see it, and how the season would become more bland after she left, for the viewer.
11:09 that Alexis Mateo moment was hilarious 😂
As an Australian, Down Under are the worst seasons to come out of drag race. I could go on for hours and hours about how much I hate it, which sucks because I think all the queens did a really good job
I really liked discomentary because it’s an amazing challenge… until the judging and boom the episode is unbearable
Ru dislike’s magic act’s & seeing people eat yet those two act’s were safe over Elektra Shock’s dance routine…DIRTY.
Down under 5 also had an awful challenge where only 2 queens really did well and the best of the bad commercials ended up getting the boot
The Bad Twin challenge should’ve been a design challenge instead of some psychological bullcrap

Jack: It's morbing time
Coven girls from all stars 6 is one of the most boring acting challenges EVER
The gaff-in is a solid choice for AS1 but imo Queens Behaving Badly is just unwatchable. Idk if it's the secondhand embarrassment or if it was genuinely That Bad but my god, I can't even think about that episode without cringing
Every Drag Race Italia episode, except the makeover. Italias Snatch Game is so hard to watch.
The first episode of season 13 put me off the show so hard that I haven’t 100% finished a season since watching it (runways, talent show, all design challenges, all music challenges, finale. Skip the rest unless the reviews are stellar. No patience for production bullshit.)
The biggest sin (and there are many) of that format for me is losing the entrances. Thanks I hate it.
down under was a big yikes. idk if it’s just me but smth abt the camera quality feels so surreal, like when you get a new pair of glasses and it’s so clear that it’s blurry. idk
I liked the Monster Ball. I kinda like when they do early balls because I love getting to see all the looks the queens come up with :)
AS6's Pink table talk comes to mind as one of the worst episode of drag race ever tbh
8:56 - UMMM, THOSE QUEENS DIDN'T PLAY FAIRLY. REMEMBER WHEN THEY SENT THE FRONT-RUNNER, MANILA, HOME? LOL
"A'keria's looks were pretty cool" he says, while showing her in an outfit I can almost entirely buy at my local toy store 🤣🤣
No winner for Draglexa when River was right there, in that gorgeous outfit, the shame.
For me the worst episode of Canada 1 is the unconventional materials ball
The only redeeming moment in DU was Art’s read to Etcetera Etcetera
“What queen is going to make a hotel”… 👀…
