You mention this and I had to say something. The "relying on your body" thing for drag queens is crazy to me. For Carmen to have that shape, she is likely covering her entire body with make up, she has to be careful to keep her muscle tone low, has to be on a restrictive diet. Even an AFAB or trans queen on HRT still has to do a lot of work to have a body that looks that great nude. Look at a Queen like Naomi or Symone and you can see how much work goes into painting their entire body.

I agree, but I still think it is valid to ask more of a queen. It gets soooo boring sooo fast when, for example, a queen serves nothing but black panties half the time. Love you, Bosco!
Another curse is "the AS winner can't lose against a Lip Sync Assassin". Shea won both of her lip syncs (while Cracker lost to Roxxie and Jujubee to Monet), and Kylie beat Manila (Ginger and Eureka also won both of her lip syncs, while Rajah lost one to Cameron). Both Jimbo and Kandy have lost lip syncs to the Assassins, so this curse will be broken this week. In the regular US seasons, a winner has never lost a lip sync. Yeah, it gets boring. Like when Jinx kept winning lip syncs it was like Ru, Girl, come on . . .. Jinx has only been a so-so syncer at best. She doesn't have that "I can't take my eyes off of her factor. I'm still salty J. won. Really, Paul? REALLY? TBH I didn't want Monet X to win either. Between the two Jinx was better but I wish Raja wave taken it. She will always be my fav dragger of all time.
Here’s an interesting curse; with the exception of Rajah, no queen has won Drag Race on their 3rd season. Manila and Latrice lost All Stars 4 Jujubee and Alexis lost All Stars 5 Pandora, Yara, Ginger, and Eureka lost All Stars 6 Mo Heart lost UK Vs the World While they all won on their second season, Shea, Trinity, and Monet lost their third season, All Stars 7 Silky lost Canada Vs the World It’s possible Jimbo could break this curse, as All Stars 8 is her 3rd season
The Commercial Challenge is one of the most blessed challenges - Slorpy Nerbish, Bob, Sasha Velour, Sasha Colby, The Vivienne, Envy Peru, Symone, Alaska, Trinity, and Jinkx (AS7) all won the commercial challenge the same season that they won. It also includes a lot of runners up/queens who made it to the Finale, like Alexis Mateo, Jaremi, Adore, Shea (s9), Asia and Eureka (s10), Rose, Katya, Monet X Change (AS7), Rita Baga, Miss Fiercalious, and Hanna Conda. Winning it means you're almost guaranteed to be at the finale, Lip Synching For the Crown.
Another somewhat "curse" I could think of is that drag race will almost always refrain from crowning two queens with similar drag styles back to back. This is pretty well seen from season 3 onwards: S1: Bebe (Pageant Queen) S2: Tyra (Fashion Queen) S3: Raja (Fashion Queen) S4: (Alt Queen) S5: Jinkx (Theatre Queen) S6: Bianca (Comedy Queen) S7: Violet (Fashion Queen) S8: Bob (Comedy Queen) S9: Sasha (Alt Queen) S10: Aquaria (Fashion Queen) S11: Yvie (Alt Queen) S12: Jaida (Pageant Queen) S13: Symone (Fashion Queen) S14: Willow (Alt Queen) S15: Sasha (Pageant Queen) This becomes clear when we look at some of the runners-up of drag race who fans see as almost winning the crown but maybe didn't because they excelled in similar aspects of drag as the past winner e.g. Ginger being a comedy queen like Bianca and not winning or Brooke being a fashion queen like Aquaria and not winning.
Ginger is the one that made me notice this trend. I still say that Ginger should have won S7 with my chest, and I think she lost because her gig is comedy instead of fashion.
Another factor in the first episode of All Stars winner thing, is that the producers LOVE giving the first episode win in All Stars to a queen who doesn't seem like an obvious choice to win the whole season. So Aja, Mo, India, Kahanna and even Tatianna (it may seem odd in retrospect, but at the time, lots of people felt Tatianna was an obvious first out among the AS2 cast), all got wins for the sake of a surprise "See, anyone could take this crown!" kind of storyline.
I am genuinely so shocked you didn't bring up the disco curse!!! I don't remember if it was broken recently or something but it's been a thing where whenever a queen decides to go for a disco themed outfit on the main stage, particularly in sewing challenges, they inevitably end up in the bottom.
I think it's specifically the makeover challenge. Whenever a queen goes with disco for the makeover challenge they end up lip syncing. Silky, Kameron, Tempest/Jaidynn, Heidi AND Jackie in one episode...
This may sounds delusional but I feel like symone looks like she’s wearing the same amount of makeup, both just raise their brows a bit and do some cute girl makeup
One of my favorite curses is the Alexis Mateo curse. Every queen that has lipsynced against Alexis has lost her wig. Stacy Layne Matthews, Shangela and Yara on season 3 and TKB on AS6. The one arguable exception to this is Raven on AS1, but in that case Yara buzzed in and interrupted/replaced Alexis before the curse could take effect.
What about the Alexis Matteo curse ( everyone she is in a lips sync with loses their wig) ? Plus I do feel like the “won ep.1 of AS” curse is more of the queen being held to a higher standard due to a win or the queen themselves kind of stressing
It confuses that people often don’t consider that the number of challenge wins and bottoms correlates with the length of a season and consequently with the repetitiveness of challenge types. To get 4 wins and multiple bottoms on a season such as 14 is much more probable to happen compared to a season such as 8 which showcased less repetitive challenges due to the reduced episode cut.
also something i've noticed to be a trend on American drag race is if the queen is standing on the right at the start of the final lipsync for the crown then she wins, since season 9 when the lipsync for the crown started, the only intance where this wasnt the case was with season 10 where they had a top 3 aquaria was on the left, but other than that theyre always on the right, even in the season 12 where they did the lipsync over zoom Jaida's screen is all the way to the right
Petition to have a drag Queen named Slorty Nerish who never goes on drag race but we just treat as the winner of season 4, like give $100,000 to and show pictures of them when people show old winners
The thing about Bimini’s improvement is probably lockdown had a huge effect. Michelle highlighted it on a podcast, that a couple of the Queens pre-lockdown (eps 1-4) made a HUGE improvement when they returned 6 months later (eps 5+), and clearly she was on about Bimini.
Ironically Michelle critisized Max for having the same hair colour but Michelle literally always has a grey skunkstripe. Out of all the things she coulda said about Max I wouldn't have gone with her wig colour...
Is Michelle's a wig though? I understand what you're trying to say, same style and same dye job every time, but it's arguably easier to change a wig than hair. Either way I don't think wig color should matter unless the challenge requires everything to be the same color or if it looks really out of place. Like if it's an end of the world challenge and a queen has pristine hair it seems weird.
About the Rusical Curse, only international queens have broken it. Before Drag Race PH S1, no queen who won the rusical won their original season. But when DRPH S1 finale aired, Precious Paula Nicole officially became the first queen who won the Rusical to win the season. I did check the fandom about the Rusical and it does say that Shea is a crowned winner who won the Rusical but she won the rusical on her original season while she was crowned in AS5.
The Drag Race España curse: Be an alternative look queen > Win the first episode > You'll do bad on Snatch Game, probably go home shortly after and definitely won't make it to the finale. In ES1, Hugaceo won episode 1, was in the bottom for the Snatch Game and went home the next episode. In ES2, Onyx won episode 1 and went home on Snatch Game. On ES3, Bestiah managed to kinda evade it, since she won episode 1, was low but not in the bottom for Snatch Game, and lasted a couple more episodes, but still didn't make the finale.
This is weird take...she was eliminated because she did poorly and she just happen not to trot, but she was always going to be eliminated because she lacked the diversity of skills needed to excel in the competition
The rusical one is especially noticeable, especially because the first queen (judged by RuPaul) to win the rusical and then the season was Danny Beard, but that's 13 years into the franchise
I haven't seen absolutely everything to come out of the drag race universe, but I've noticed that every time two queens fight over a role, the person who gets it bombs. The curse doesn't kick in if the queens handle it respectfully, but if one of the queens reeeally digs her heels in, she is cursed to fail the role she so desperately wanted.
You’re right saying that the 2 bottoms never actually affect your winning chance, as in season 2 production wanted Raven to win and in season 6 adore got a double crowning filmed.
Other that I hearded was that every 5th place queen is always a inportant person on their season or a fan favorite (Ongina, Pandora, Shangela/Carmen, Dida/Kenya, Coco, Dela, Katya, Derrick, etc.)
She has never said she was robbed. She’s always acknowledged she lost, she even pain homage to the roses and Sasha Multiple times. Shes allowed to feel salty. Maybe you’ve never worked hard for something in your life.
I know this isn’t a main US season but Spankie Jackzon from Down Under S2 was in the bottom 2 episode 1 and even ended up winning so I feel like that should break the curse since it’s a Rupaul judged season
Bimini is such a special case though in terms of the episode 1 bottom queen never making finale. The covid break really switched things up in UK2 and gave Bimini ample time to build her confidence back up to really dominate the second half.
Watching this while season 16 is currently airing, and Michelle just told Dawn she'd like to see her without her elf ears. Dawn has done multiple looks without them already, but I don't understand why she needs to stop doing something that is part of her brand, as long as it fits the runway theme. I hope this curse doesn't carry on to her because so far I looooove her!!
I know you mentioned the rusical curse specifically applying to the US seasons but to this day only 3 times has it happened. Danny Beard on UK3 Precious Paula Nicole on PH1 & Pititia on ES3. So in my opinion this curse has been broke. All thats left is a long crazy coincidence.
Let us be real, AS8 finale is just us seeing which curse will be broken. ( Either Jimbo winning on her third season with Four challenge wins or Kandy breaking the rusical curse). 😅
@@kennethtoro1875 yes jimbo dominated the challenges, but the lipsync against silky to freak-a-zoid was to give jimbo a win. Im not saying she didnt win the lip sync nor the episode its just strange they gave silky freak-a-zoid against jimbo ( and btw lala was robbed from the rusical)
I agree. She went off the deep end but she was great during her run. Why can't we just remember that? Seeing videos of her with her face blurred is disturbing. Same with James. He was fantastic during season 2.
Hey Jack! Nice vid as always. I wanna point out 3 semi curses, cause I don’t remember a lot of cases. -Curse of the Coreo: every girl that does the coreo for the music video the lipsync belongs to, doesn’t win. Think of it like Shea vs. Jinkx on Judas or Delta vs. Phoenix in AS3 to Bad Romance. -Curse of the Asian Girl in snatch game: self explanatory. Poor Le Fil. -“You’re too polished” curse: like Ella Vaday and Chad Michaels
I swear it's like if Michelle tells you to change something of your brand don't do it or you're gonna go home. Milk, Max, Dusty, Spice, Marcia just to name a few off the top of my head.
Like Raja said, she isn't really "qualified". She shouldn't be a direct judge but something special that Ru can create for her. If it wasn't Ru's show, having a bachelors in fashion would definitely NOT qualify you for RUPD.
When Michelle didn't "get" Tammie Browne, I knew she wasn't qualified at all. She doesn't "get" drag. She wants all the queens to be utterly womanly. Drag's main objective is to go BEYOND being a pretty woman. Any decent looking woman can do that.
also im noticing those kind of curse that happen per year like in 2022 Every winner from that year either won their 2nd or 4th or both episodes ( Willow won on ep3 but its technically her 2nd episode ) And for 2023 we have, the winner is always the one who gets her 2 wins first and the runner up wins the makeover
Love this video!!! also would you ever do a 60s mod dress makeover video on how the girls either win or go home while doing it ? I always think it’s weird how girls like Dakota go home doing mod but girls like Kandy win while doing it, I’m sure many more queens have interesting placements with this specific look
I would like to introduce a curse from Season 14: the Lady Camden curse. Every time she won a challenge that week, no one was eliminated (came into effect when she won her lip sync against Daya)
Another curse that might be broken soon is that international queens never win US seasons. Like Nicki Doll, Lady Camden, the Vivienne and Brooke Lynn Hytes and of course all the Puerto Rican queens if you count them as international
I think the newest curse is that main season winners cannot ever lose a lip sync I know this sounds obvious but with double premieres and Lalaparuza in effect, it tracks that no winner has ever lost a lip Even coming in as a LSA, no winner has lost (Ra’jah wasn’t crowned at the time of filming, nor was she a US winner, so you could argue she avoided the curse)
here’s one i personally noticed, getting Adore Delano’s blessing on the first mini challenge=wins the season: -aquaria during the dancing challenge got a confessional from adore -yvie oddly doing the photo shoot challenge with her as well. positive confessional
About the all stars curse: the fact that the first episode is talent show gives the opportunity to all queens to prepare and win. While in the process the challenge plays a role (plus all the other reasons you mentioned)
Not a "curse," but speaking of recent All Stars trends, Season 2 queens have been doing really great on All Stars. It's pretty impressive considering it has the 2nd smallest cast size and only 1 or 2 representatives besides AS1. 5 out of 8 AS seasons have ended with a Season 2 queen making it at least to final 3.
One really strange curse that I think was broken during this All Stars season was that during a lipsync, if the queens interact sexually with each other, whoever is the submissive one never won the lip-sync. The example that come to mind is the Straight Up lip-sync with Raja and Carmen.
For me the weirdest curse is when Rupaul poisoned Yuhua Hamasaki and locked her soul inside the Soaked Clock. Thankfully, Monica Beverly Hills broke the curse and released Yuhua to claim her rightful crown as the Queen of Drag.

It makes sense in terms of they'd be eliminated but I'm shook to read a winner has never lost a lip sync!
@@Iam29941 Simply means they should just bring Jessica back and crown her.
I mean, I can dream
So Jan’s revenge for not winning the musical is Gigi not winning the crown? 😅
Here’s an interesting curse; with the exception of Rajah, no queen has won Drag Race on their 3rd season.
Manila and Latrice lost All Stars 4
Jujubee and Alexis lost All Stars 5
Pandora, Yara, Ginger, and Eureka lost All Stars 6
Mo Heart lost UK Vs the World
While they all won on their second season, Shea, Trinity, and Monet lost their third season, All Stars 7
Silky lost Canada Vs the World
It’s possible Jimbo could break this curse, as All Stars 8 is her 3rd season
Not really a curse if the last person who could have broke it though
-And technically that number should be 0 since Rajah should’ve won on her second time-

SLORPY NERBISH
Another somewhat "curse" I could think of is that drag race will almost always refrain from crowning two queens with similar drag styles back to back. This is pretty well seen from season 3 onwards:
S1: Bebe (Pageant Queen)
S2: Tyra (Fashion Queen)
S3: Raja (Fashion Queen)
S4: (Alt Queen)
S5: Jinkx (Theatre Queen)
S6: Bianca (Comedy Queen)
S7: Violet (Fashion Queen)
S8: Bob (Comedy Queen)
S9: Sasha (Alt Queen)
S10: Aquaria (Fashion Queen)
S11: Yvie (Alt Queen)
S12: Jaida (Pageant Queen)
S13: Symone (Fashion Queen)
S14: Willow (Alt Queen)
S15: Sasha (Pageant Queen)
This becomes clear when we look at some of the runners-up of drag race who fans see as almost winning the crown but maybe didn't because they excelled in similar aspects of drag as the past winner e.g. Ginger being a comedy queen like Bianca and not winning or Brooke being a fashion queen like Aquaria and not winning.
I'm betting everything i got that the comedian is going to win s16
@@melad3000 If we're talking Nymphia, I 100% agree with you.
I remember that time period where people were forgetting that Tati got to 4th...
Silky, Kameron, Tempest/Jaidynn, Heidi AND Jackie in one episode...
i personally don’t get the marcia criticism bc i think she is so naturally stunning that she doesn’t need a lot of makeup 🤷
RuPaul just despises her for whatever reason but I feel like most of the other queens are just joking
This may sounds delusional but I feel like symone looks like she’s wearing the same amount of makeup, both just raise their brows a bit and do some cute girl makeup
Ok but that sounds pretty privilege to me, also drag isnt always projected to convey beautiful faces.
For all marcia fans, Marcia wasn't liked by either production or ru. So don't get surprised if she doesn't get on all stars
@@scarynoise996 symone is also absolutely stunning!! if she has it she deserves to flaunt it!
Danny Beard won the rusical… so Uk its always the exception
Trinity K Bonet
Girl I was genuienly scared when you said Sh*ron N**dles name reversed😳 Like I thought my TV got possesed for a moment
03:51 bruh who the fuck posessed you! LMAO
also something i've noticed to be a trend on American drag race is if the queen is standing on the right at the start of the final lipsync for the crown then she wins, since season 9 when the lipsync for the crown started, the only intance where this wasnt the case was with season 10 where they had a top 3 aquaria was on the left, but other than that theyre always on the right, even in the season 12 where they did the lipsync over zoom Jaida's screen is all the way to the right
omg i cant believe Slorty Nerish won 4 challenges on season 4

The thing about Bimini’s improvement is probably lockdown had a huge effect. Michelle highlighted it on a podcast, that a couple of the Queens pre-lockdown (eps 1-4) made a HUGE improvement when they returned 6 months later (eps 5+), and clearly she was on about Bimini.
glad that you talked about the strike and how it can affect drag. i’m hoping we can get more drag unions up and running
Plasma just won the Rusical on S16 💀
And now she was sent home. 👁️👄👁️
Let us talk about spankie jackson being in the bottom the first episode and going on to win the whole thing purely on charisma like wow
You forgot The Trot Curse when Michelle Visage tells Spice to stop trotting she gets eliminated right after The Lip Sync Smackdown episode!
It's honestly a shame. She may not be the strongest performer but I enjoyed her performance in the lip sync a loooot more than Salina's...
I hated Shea Couleé’s “storyline” about how she was robbed. She wasn’t. She just lost.
She has never said she was robbed. She’s always acknowledged she lost, she even pain homage to the roses and Sasha
Multiple times. Shes allowed to feel salty. Maybe you’ve never worked hard for something in your life.
The Rusical curse still stands; Kandy lost to Jimbo.
My favorite curse is the “being a big girl in America curse”
no cause isnt the first ever internationnal winner natalie from thailand ? 😭 this is hilarious and sad at the same time-

Milk also got hated on for being masculine and the moment she got girly they were like “oh, we don’t like you changed who you are.” 😑
The rusical curse is alive and well 🎉
Ive been recently rewatching and one i love is the comeback queen getting sent back home immediately🤡
And then you have Canadas Drag Race, where the first 2 winners were in the bottom twice, but still won.
Oh my god 3:53 confused me so much I though I was having a seizure LMAOOOo
Danny Beard was on UK4, not UK3
The Spankie Jackson erasure. The only queen, who was in the bottom, two in episode one of her season, and went on to win.
Chad Michaels also achieved this
Let us be real, AS8 finale is just us seeing which curse will be broken. ( Either Jimbo winning on her third season with Four challenge wins or Kandy breaking the rusical curse). 😅
Kandy won the rusical, and didn’t also won 😭
And with kandy, the curse shall continue… (i love kandy but this season was directed to crown jimbo…)
This season was a season of punishments and rudemptions. Each challenge was made for any number of queens to excell at but Jimbo just dominated
The way the winner of season 4 got censored spooked me so much😢😢
I agree. She went off the deep end but she was great during her run. Why can't we just remember that? Seeing videos of her with her face blurred is disturbing. Same with James. He was fantastic during season 2.
so proud to say Keiona broke the rusical winner curse!!!✨✨
my favorite curse is if you try to do a disco theme for the makeover, you end up in the bottom. season 12 is my favorite example of this lmao
THE RUSICAL CURSE IS NOT BROKEN
Any decent looking woman can do that.
also im noticing those kind of curse that happen per year
like in 2022 Every winner from that year either won their 2nd or 4th or both episodes ( Willow won on ep3 but its technically her 2nd episode )
And for 2023 we have, the winner is always the one who gets her 2 wins first and the runner up wins the makeover
Lol not "Throw the Rusical!" That got me 😭
omg plasma... the rusical curse
the rusical curse is still in effect
We are still CURSED
Love this video!!! also would you ever do a 60s mod dress makeover video on how the girls either win or go home while doing it ? I always think it’s weird how girls like Dakota go home doing mod but girls like Kandy win while doing it, I’m sure many more queens have interesting placements with this specific look
Also, if you do a disco look in the makeover challenge, you're in the bottom.
The rusical winner curse shows that Dakota and Ru both hate musicals - this is my head cannon and you can't change my mind.
I would like to introduce a curse from Season 14: the Lady Camden curse. Every time she won a challenge that week, no one was eliminated (came into effect when she won her lip sync against Daya)
Did she win the Menzes episode, the Rusical, and/or the final challenge before the finale?
@@RyanPaquette-d8oshe won Daytona winds, not menses.
There were a lot of non elimination episodes on s14
Another season 14 curse is that every challenge Bosco ever won saw Jorgeous in the bottom lip syncing
lol "a chance it might be broken friday..." SIR!
In addition, Milk wearing a Feminine outfit because she/he was criticized after wearing unique drag gets eliminated. It frustrates me.
Sharon Needles being the 1st to win 4 challenges is WILD
Her run on season 4 was great. It's a shame she is who she is.
@@narcisosanz8137 Sharon was a game changer I was so proud of her on the show.
Loved your message at the end. Very well said ❤
the 4 wins curse happened again
And it shouldn't have...
What’s worse is it struck for not just one but two queens
You can't pay anyone what they're worth. Thanks for this very interesting analysis! You brought back some great moments.
Another curse that might be broken soon is that international queens never win US seasons. Like Nicki Doll, Lady Camden, the Vivienne and Brooke Lynn Hytes and of course all the Puerto Rican queens if you count them as international
I think the newest curse is that main season winners cannot ever lose a lip sync
I know this sounds obvious but with double premieres and Lalaparuza in effect, it tracks that no winner has ever lost a lip
Even coming in as a LSA, no winner has lost (Ra’jah wasn’t crowned at the time of filming, nor was she a US winner, so you could argue she avoided the curse)
here’s one i personally noticed, getting Adore Delano’s blessing on the first mini challenge=wins the season:
-aquaria during the dancing challenge got a confessional from adore
-yvie oddly doing the photo shoot challenge with her as well. positive confessional
I literally thought my earphones broke @3:52 for a sec lol
About the all stars curse: the fact that the first episode is talent show gives the opportunity to all queens to prepare and win. While in the process the challenge plays a role (plus all the other reasons you mentioned)
...and the rusical curse is still going LOL
Well the curse wasn’t broken
Also on AS1 Manilla & Latrice were in gone by episode 3 after winning the 1st Maxi Challenge
NO! I wouldn't wanna see the curse broken this Friday...
One really strange curse that I think was broken during this All Stars season was that during a lipsync, if the queens interact sexually with each other, whoever is the submissive one never won the lip-sync. The example that come to mind is the Straight Up lip-sync with Raja and Carmen.
Electra Bionic winning Drag Race Italia 1 after being safe the whole season could be considered a "broken curse"?
Congratulations for 80k 🎉
Another example of Queen getting eliminated after doing what Michelle wanted was Milk in Season 6 w them wanting her more femme.
My favorite drag race curses are the Rusical Curse, The Kardashian Curse, The Michelle Visage Critique Curse and the Top 7 curse.
I almost shit myself at yhe backwards Sharon Needles, i thought some demon possessed my phone lmao
