Great video . I completed most of this same work on my 04 WJ over the last 2 years . Just rebuilt Dana 35 and started break/in ✅🇺🇸

Whoa, you have tons of videos! You just seem to stay so calm when redoing the timing chain cover. The more I worked on the jeep the less and less patience I had with myself for messing up...but I kept messing up haha. Sometimes you just need a break from the project.

😂 yea, if I had to do it, probably be cussing all the time. I had that differential out so many times before I got the specs right… just started my break in and keeping my fingers crossed 😵‍💫
Thanks for watching & commenting. Both the WJ and UA-cam are Hobbies 🤠🇺🇸

did you have any symptoms of the stretched timing chain? It looked like you added mobile 1 oil. Modern oils do not have enoigh zinc in them. Its best to you 10w-30 rotella diesel oil. It has 1200ppm of zinc versus 600 on normal oils. If the zinc is not there it will wear you're cam shaft very quickly O ya if i remember right WJs come with the orange coolant the few i have owned came with the orange.

Thanks for this legit information. I looked over a few forums and was surprised to find that everyone knows about this except me apparently. I threw some seafoam in with the oil and have been driving it trying to get at least 300 mi before doing the final change and handing it off. I'll refill with the appropriate oil. I'm not sure how to maintain that service if my mom has the jeep though...sharpie "only 10w30 rotella diesel oil" on the fan shroud maybe and hope the mechanic does it.
As far as the timing chain, the jeep was too sketchy to drive and in various states of disassembly since I bought it. it had a rough idle, but I think that was related to fuel. I just saw the loose chain and thought that I better do it now since I live pretty far from her and don't want her to have to take it to a mechanic for anything other than oil changes.
I'll look into the coolant thing. It came with neon green so that's what I threw in. Maybe it changed? My raptor came with orange originally, but ford switched to neon green for some reason. I thought the dealer messed up after a service. Maybe just a brand contract change.

@@ruffwrenchn2235 i think the orange is a long life coolant were as the green is just normal, as far as oil i would think that would work using a silver sharpie or one of those metallic marking pens would be super visible. I get the timing chain. Mine is original and 205k miles. It has a bit of a rough idle but it could be as simple as the 20yr old injectors or maybe the old coil rail. Other then that mine runs great gets decent milage and has good power for what it is lol
