Donna is and was not only the Disco Queen but was gifted with such power as an incredible vocalist. She truly is unmatched in how she owned the radio and dance floors during the 70s. She is sorely missed.
Wonderful, talented Donna Summer with her amazing voice. The queen of disco. Left us way to soon.
I do miss Donna's voice. May she RIP.
I forgot just how powerful her voice truly was!
Donna Summer, no question the best female artist on so many levels. Donna could sing any genre of music and has 5 Grammys from rock to disco. Actually nominated a few times as best rock vocal. Donna's catalogue is incredible, she wrote many of her songs and her song "I Feel Love" single handedly changed pop music forever. Bridging disco sensuality and the synthesizer revolution, Summer and producers/co-writers created an international smash, they helped lay a path for synth pop, New Romantics, Italo disco, Hi-NRG, electro, house, techno, and more, influencing generations of pop, rock, and dance artists along the way. Thanks for your great respect to Donna!
In the 70's millions of guys wanted to put a ring on her finger... Me Too.
RIP Donna the Disco Queen.
Now react to two great voices
Donna Summer & Barbra Streisand - No More Tears Enough Is Enough
I love this performance of mature Donna it is killer.
She had the best voice ever!
Her beautiful voice melts my heart. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Donna Summer was Pop Music first female mega star selling millions worldwide and pushing the boundaries by crossing into multiple genres. She was the most commercially successful female artist of the 70's. The first female artist and the first black artist to bring 3 albums to the top of the pop charts (Billboard 200) back to back. They just happened to be 3 multi-platinum selling double albums. She was the first female artist to repeat having the #1 single and the #1 album simultaneously on the pop charts (doing it 3 times in 8 months). She was the first female to have 2 songs in the top 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 (twice in 4 months), she was the first have 2 #1 singles in the top 5 and top 3 on the Hot 100. The first solo artist to have 3 #1 singles and 5 top 10 and/or 5 top 5 singles, in a calendar year (79). She scored 9 consecutive top 5 singles from July 78 to Oct 80, all selling a million copies or better (a physical sales record). She was first black female artist to be played in heavy rotation on MTV in August 83 (She Works Hard for the Money) and set a precedent of having 3 consecutive videos played in heavy rotation. Not surpassed until Janet Jackson Rhythm Nation 89/90. She sold over 20 million albums and had 10 gold (1 million) 2 platinum (2million) and the first gold maxi single in the US with Casablanca Records at the end the 70s. She was top 10 artist, on the world wide pop charts, for 4 consecutive years 76,77,78,79. The first artist to be nominated for a Grammy in 5 different genres (R&B, Rock, Pop, Gospel, Dance) at least 3 times each, and the only artist to win a Grammy in 4 different genres. She called a game changer by Mary J.Blige and Lenny Kravitz. She has 14 top 10 singles in the US - Love to Love You Baby (#2) 76, I Feel Love (#6) 77, Last Dance (#3) 78, Mac Arthur Park (#1) 78, Heaven Knows (#4) 79, Hot Stuff (#1) 79, Bad Girls (#1) 79, Dim All The Lights (#2) 79, No More Tears (#1) 79, On The Radio (#5) 80, The Wanderer (#3) 80, Love Is In Control (#10) 82, She Works Hard for the Money (#3) 83, This Time I Know It's for Real (#7) 89.
Her voice was everything! The only artist to give me goosebumps!
She was amazing. RIP legend❤❤❤
This song has been recorded by many people. It was written by Jimmy Webb & was first recorded by Irish actor & singer Richard Harris in 1968. Waylon Jennings did a version in 1969 & Donna Summer covered it in 1978.
The queen of disco and John Miles (on piano) will always live in my heart.,.
Imagine Chaka Khan and Donna Summer on stage together... They could crack the planet in half with their voices. Glad to turn you on to them, as I know you are.
This woman had an incredible run in the late seventies and early eighties.
I bow to the Queen! Thank you Miss Summer. Yes, the voice!
Donna once said... I get my voice from my mother, when she called you to come in for dinner, they could hear her three blocks away.
The absolute best version of this strange song..I love it!
Wow......that voice! Every time I listen.
This is one of those the entire valley needs to hear... CRANK IT UP!... hit the speaker switch.
In a 18-month period from Aug/1978 to Feb/1980, Donna had 8 Top-5 hits including four #1's of which Macarthur Park was her first.
……Donna is a Boston Girl ❤️
…….miss you girl 🙏🏻
…….. ❤️❤️❤️
Queen of the 70’s for me ❤️
The 2 best things that happened in Boston in 1979….. Donna Summers (Bad Girls) album dropped, my favorite ❤️
“Hot Stuff” & “Bad Girls” were all over the radio (2nd) Larry Bird was introduced as the newest member of the Boston Celtics 🍀🍀 “Go Celtics” 🍀
King & Queen of Boston ❤️
I loved Donna Summer. Fantastic voice
Very few artist could pack the dance floor like this incredible woman did. I must have been YANKED on to the floor dozens of times to her many great songs.
A great performance from a class act.
*I legit cried when she passed. A bit of my childhood died that day*
Your JBL Headphones have been patiently waiting for this artist.
Loved her, gone too soon. RIP to the Queen of Disco.
RIP Donna, I was a little girl and my mom and dad listened to music from her generation and I still adore her and all of her lovely music ✌️✌️✌️
One of the best vocalist ever singing about a melting cake in the rain. I still can't under what this song is trying to say. This is a Cover, the original was not in a disco theme. In all I Love Donna and I say you need to listen to " On the Radio " or " Hot Stuff ". Huge number of disco hits.
I loved Donna Summer, she was huge during the disco era in the 70's and I loved dancing to her music. This song and "Last Dance" were my favorites.
Our Queen RIP Donna
Ahh! Sweet Donna, the queen of disco! Beautiful inside and out and just a side note....something like a nice voice. I'm totally being sarcastic, her voice is amazing and sounded amazing even up to her death. Gorgeous lady! We are truly blessed that people like her share their beautiful gifts with us!
Great introduction to the queen 👑❤👍
The QUEEN Of DISCO..... What a voice, What a Performer. Few can say they are at or even near her level of talents. Thanks JM, again.
You picked the great rendition. She is fabulous and everything about this performance is 🔥🔥
The undisputed queen of disco. Very sadly missed. You should check out " I feel love" by her. It was way ahead of its time.
*An iconic disco classic. The studio version from when she was younger is a much stronger vocal performance.*
You'll have to dive more into Donna! She was an amazing singer! Very versatile and had great hits. She still had that strong voice. You've probably heard her songs before and didn't realize it was her.... Bad Girls, Hot Stuff, She Works :Hard for the Money, Last Dance, Dim All the Lights just to name a few. Thanks for the reaction!!!
I love the song, its so haunting, it doesn't matter who sings it. Originally done by Richard Harris in the sixties
100... "I'm Not Familiar With" artist added to your incredible Playlist since January 14th 2023. All added to my JMBOY TV Reactions Folder... memory sticks to share with family/friends. Thanks Jarvis... TOO COOL again.
ALSO, the legendary Four Tops did an awesome rendition of this song in 1969. ❤
WELL JM... It took me seven months to get this artist added to your Playlist. Right where she belongs among the legendary names there. Number 100.... TOO COOL
R.I.P. QUEEN❤️❤️❤️
I cried the day she died
Donna Adrian Gaines, known professionally as Donna Summer, was an American singer and songwriter. She gained prominence during the disco era of the 1970s and became known as the "Queen of Disco", while her music gained a global following......"Last Dance"... "On The Radio"..."Hot Stuff".... "This Time I Know It's For Real"....."Bad Girls".... "Could It Be Magic"...."I Feel Love".... “She Works Hard For The Money".... “No More Tears (Enough Is Enough),” a duet with Barbra Streisand; and her signature song, a Must Hear.
You should probably also be sure to react to the original (1968) version of this song, sung by Richard Harris, who was a highly respected and accomplished Irish Shakespearian actor, and not at all known as a singer. It's surprisingly good, and very dramatic. It peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Donna's version is great as well, topping the chart in 1978.
Loved that you reacted to it. This was near the end of her career. Virtually no reviewer has listened to the original recording, which rules all others with her in peak voice. Give it a listen on your own.
Wow,what a loss it is she passed away😢😢
One of her BEST songs. Listen to the Studio Version. and there is a 17 minute Suite version that is awesome.
Donna is an awesome singer and performer. You should have been given the song Last Dance to start you out, that way this song's original performed by Richard Harris would have gotten it's own recognition.
Love her , missed her music for some time when there was some sort of fallout and she didn't perform for a long time, she also did a version of enough is enough the Barbra Streisand and Donna summer song and she did it with the Australian Tina Arena which would have been an honour for Tina.
Disco diva but so much more. Powerful voice, held herself with grace, one the greatest singers or her era. This is a cover of a late 60's song, written by the great songwriter Jimmy Webb, which is pretty awesome in its own right. Perfect dance song with depth of emotion and brilliant vocals. Never saw this version before, bless the patron who suggested this 🙏🏾 Also great jaguar story! 😁
My Pleasure, you're Welcome, but the Thanks go to our host.
@@AliasMark69 Absolutely Mark! He's played several of my songs. Best at what he does, hands down! 💯
Edited because I misread your name as Alisa 😂
@@RicoCosta317 I have been watching "reactors" for the past 5 years. I follow several JM is the Best and only one I HIT THE BELL to get Notifications. This makes 100 new artist he was "not familiar with"...over 300 songs Smiles each time
@@AliasMark69 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Great song/great performance
BTW... This tasty treat is On The House, as usual.
Great song, great voice! Next, check out Love Hangover by Diana Ross, bass line and beat tempo is addictive, released in 76. ✌️
Richard Harris made this song famous and still like his version best.
I gave you two options. This and the VH1 Presents version. Both are stellar performances from this amazing artist. This shows more of the entire ensemble.... I thought this would be the one you choice.
I have a guest room with Cats... A large Panther painting on leather is awesome. Come for a visit in that room anytime.
Great reaction ! Love Donna Summer Live! Please react to her swan song “last dance” from her 1999 VH1 TV special or for studio protection “Hot Stuff “ album track .. its a banger & Rocks! Thank you! 😊❤
Never heard of Donna?? Good Grief!
Anutha jam!
❤❤❤
Her version is good. But I think the first one was sung by the Brit, Richard Harris. His version is very good.
