Loved this! So informing! Would love to switch to a raw diet for my dog but I’m always unsure how much to give and how often. I guess my main hold back is trying to keep track of calorie intake and and the fear of feeding too much too often. Or am I overthinking it? If you could share what you feed your dogs for a week that would be great! Following a pre-made schedule would be so helpful so I know what to feed and how often my dog can have it. Thanks again for being so informing and taking the time to help us dog parents ❤️
I have a 6 yr female Maltese not fix, overweight I feed her the farmer's dog also 10 mon maltepoo male both eat the farmer's dog, my Sophie needs to loose weight could you advise
I am so inspired by and appreciative of your videos! I am now twice an accidental dog owner. The first is an older Chinook, very well behaved and lovely, that came to our family when we moved onto a new property. And the second, a now 6 month old Springador (I think), who was found abandoned and left with me at just a few weeks old. I found your channel looking for potty training advice and have been binging your videos all afternoon. I am working towards going kibble free, and I excitedly mixed in salmon, broccoli, and a touch of cinnamon and raw honey into their bowls tonight. I also made them "work" for it. And, the little one is doing so good at the "sit" command! All, that to say, thank you so much for the information and encouragement!! It is really appreciated
Hi Rachel..new dog owner here. I came across your channel doing research on what to feed my small mixed breed chihuahua. Currently I have changed my puppy diet 3 times now trying to figure out the e best food and diet for her without breaking the bank per day. I recently purchased a brand grandma Lucy’s and Petcos whole hearted for puppy’s. Can you do a video on your thoughts and opinion on these brands and what other toppers I can add? I already use chicken beef peas and carrots and sometimes pumpkin. Your help, guidance and advice would be really great. Thanks for the great videos 🫶🏾
This was SOOO helpful for me! Thank you so much for how informative this is! My 16lb 2 1/2 year old cavapoo has ALWAYS had digestive troubles and is always shifting between different symptoms. I am making the switch to whole, clean foods. I've been feeling this is the path for her for a while. Will keep you posted if it helps her!
I have two Newfies so I cut up my own raw saves me tons of money! I also follow Dr Lonsdale method so they get bones too, trying to get veggies into them, so far so go. I do like your toppers! I change mine up too, I slow oven dry lung, heart etc. those meatballs look great!
Hello! I have a 3 month old puppy who doesn't seem to love the kibble I am feeding her at the moment, it is what they were feeding her at the rescue! How do you suggest weening her off of the kibble and into a more raw meat diet? And is this good for tiny dogs that won't be more than 12lbs full grown!
I’m learning so much from you, I recently adopted a puppy and trying to give him the best life, he is only 13weeks. What the brand for the air dry meatball toppers?
Carrot - id reco cooking them 1st and then add into their bowel as the "beta C " has to be cooked/heated for it to chemically change into the goodness vs in the raw state just alot of fiber
Just found your videos today. I'm getting a puppy next week after loosing my best pet friend in July to cancer. The videos on food are very interesting but a bit overwhelming to me. Maybe you cover these things in other videos. So if you broke it down in to cycles where you introduce these toppers and extra ingredients, it might be easier for me to understand. Also, how many of these different toppers would you recommend for just one dog? My dog was a Coton as is the new puppy. The one who died was extremely picky. I'd like to start the new guy eating a variety of foods. The problem I had with trying foods for my other dog was that if he didn't eat the food, I was stuck with a bag, can, or container of pretty expensive food that would be wasted unless I could find someone to give it to. Also very interested in the different pet bowls and the mat feeder. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Rachel can you make a video of how you clean their slow feeders, beds, etc!! I’m buying a new home and I know I have to be patient with my fur baby ivy but I also don’t want my house to smell like dog and I want to make sure she’s not stinky either! Thanks love your content!
I will be bringing home my new puppy Cayenne next month. I have been trying to find healthier foods for her to start with. I'm getting lots of ideas but not sure of what to give her.
I have a question about the plastic slow feeders. I've seen in the forever dog we should not use plastic water bowls...but we ( myself included) use plastic feeding bowls and add water or freeze them. I'm thinking maybe we shouldn't do that. What are your thoughts???
Rachel It’s so hard. I’m struggling with making the right decision for my 12 week old standard poodle. Raw is so expensive . My trainer said she spends over $300 a month on raw for her Boxer but i can see she would love to have us make that move fro the Orijen kibble. Our former standerd poodle Rosie was on kibble and she had terrible sebaceous cysts - 5 surgeries including a tail partial amputation due to a burst one. I’d hate for Molly to end up with that too considering standard poodles are prone to that. You are so good at all the things you do for your dogs.
Yes! Please go into a deep dive into a nutritionally appropriate diet for dogs. I have been eating a Carnivore Diet (for myself) for almost 3 years and I want to feed my new puppy (12 weeks) a meat-based diet. Do you have your own recipe for your dogs food?
Thank you for all the wonderful information! This is how I feed my pup but I am always looking for new trustworthy products/toppers and supplements and this is extremely helpful!!❤️
We have an almost 14wk old aussie doodle. Can he have the same mixture as your doodle or should he have the mixture that you made for the puppy because I noticed you didn’t add as many items to his bowl?. He is itchy alot so I know I need to change his food. I have added a probiotic ordered some more. I followed your link and their are so many options. We dont have that raw meat brand that you like in my area. Is there another one you would recommend
What about dogs with kidney disease? Any suggestions for nutritious food or add one bc my dog hates the food the vet has her on and she is losing weight. She is an 18 yr old poodle. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Fantastic video I really enjoy watching them. I currently have a 12 week old Groodle. She’s absolutely the cutest. I was just wondering is it OK to give her for dinner and lunch a small amounts of raw chicken mince that I buy from the supermarket topped with a variety of steamed vegetables ?
Where are those air dried turkey meatballs filled with green tripe from? My dogs love green tripe, so always looking for different treats to put in puzzle toys for them.
Hi. I wish the real dog treats and chews weren't so complicated. I wanted to try a bag but it offers a subscription and then wants to add a membership. My dog is so picky I would rather buy as needed in case she changed her mind. I do love how you add toppers etc to make meals more nutrient and interesting.
Hello!! I love your videos and recently decided to feed my dog half fresh and half kibble. I want to start doing all fresh but would love to get a diy partially cooked recipe. Not sure what vitamins I need to add too… thanks so much for these videos, it’s really enlightened my view on dog food!!
HUGE QUESTION. How do you transition a puppy that was eating kibble for the first 8 weeks of his life into a raw diet. Also, any tips for the Doberman breed? TIA 💗
Hey girl it doesn’t matter what dog food you give. You must mix old food and new food for a week until fully serving the new food so they don’t get an upset stomach. Do research about your breed and size and age. This all plays into what you feed your dog. At the end if you’re really not sure what to give your dog. See at vet, they should give you amazing recommendations on what’s safe and best for you particular dog. Hope I helped! ❤️
Hi Rachel. Why vets always say that the dogs need grains as rice..etc because it prevents heart diseases.? I feed my dog with raw freeze food without grain . The vet told me to change it for a diet with grains. What are ur thoughts?
@@bretrandolph7419 Primal uses HPP on their poultry products but not their red meats from what I understand. HPP does not make the food cooked, it is simply a preserving/sterilization process that is not preferred when trying to feed the most naturally balanced raw meal. It is still raw food.
@@rebekahcook275 no it is not raw. Anytime you use heat it kills nutrients. Using heat is cooking food. What do u think cooking is? Raw is in it's natural state.
Love the information and taking the time to show us so much info. I have a question 🙋🏻♀️ I have a boxer and got her a slow feeder. She chew it up to the point I had to buy a metal bowl. Is there any slow feeders that aren’t chewable 😁? Btw she’s a puppy and kennel training which that’s where she has her meals.
I just started my 5-month old French bulldog puppy on dr. Marty nature's blend natural freeze dried raw blend I was wondering if you have heard about this yet? So far the stuff is amazing but I'm not even kidding you he only gets a little bit it makes him so energetic that I can't keep up with him have you heard of it and do you suggest it
I'm not able to do Raw, yet I'm still learning a bunch before I do it one day i will. What kibble brands would you recommend? I'm starting to add fresh foods to her kibble but still feed kibble so just needing kibble recommendations
You can do it in low dose, like a tablespoon I won’t go above two tablespoons. Check with your vet to make sure they don’t have peanut allergies before feeding peanut butter
I would love a deep dive on this.... my dog is allergic to chicken and beef and is eating rabbit Royal Canne.... I add veggies and Kongs but have trouble knowing how to feed raw and also, have a hard time finding bones and chews....
I dont know what you have around where you live. But I work in a PetStore and we have Duck raw meat for hypoallergic pet. Could be an option for your dog
At the moment my dogs are eating kibble, I am interested in adding kibble toppers. If I were to add kibble toppers would I reduce the amount of kibble I give them and if so how much?
Learning a lot ... I can't feed my dog raw she's a Yorkie Poo but , I feed her Carna4 ... I wanna add some of the toppers ... My question is how much do I do my puppy ? She will be under 10 pounds ... Thanks .. Love these videos ...
Both are great! I preferred the testing done on the AquaTru - the filter options and the speed. We go through a ton of water and the Berkey just wasn’t fast enough
Hi Rachel! My dog is a toy Maltipoo and we are feeding him a raw diet, but he just isn’t very food motivated do you have any advice for me and my baby. I’m trying to do the best I can to give him the best of the best but he just isn’t a fan. We are doing primal raw meat in the little bit size pieces. Thank you so much!
We don’t have a bones and co in Michigan either so your top list of raw food brands would be helpful! Also what flavor of raw meat is the best. We had to try chicken, beef, pork and venison and still couldn’t find one our dog liked the best. Also how often do you feed your dogs? Twice a day or just once a day? Morning or night. My dog is now one and we switched to kibble because he was no longer eating raw but we would like to go back to raw food. Thank you!!! ❤️
Oh how I adore you and your doggies, from a new and thankful follower!!! Looking forward to the video. The video will help when my vet wants to voice her concerns to me about raw feeding. I have a new puppy and I switched to raw feeding and goat milk due to your other videos. My puppy eats it like a champ and is growing and developing both physically and mental because of your amazing videos. Thank you Rachel, you have a new loyal follower 👍👍👍
Hi Rachel! I would love to see a video on what you feed your cat. We have fed Bones & Co to our two dogs for a year now and love it! We were so sad to hear from our local pet store that Bones & Co doesn't make cat food. We ended up having to go with vital essentials freeze dried raw but would much rather have a fresh food RAW diet for our new kitten. Please help! :)
Rachel the other day I was watching one of your videos and you talked about a treat pouch that you just love that had a magnetic closing I can’t find that video now so if you could put in a comment the name of the treat pouch you fell in love with I would appreciate it thank you.
My academic background it also in bioscience and nutrition (human, i do not work in either of these industries however) and I have a few questions about raw feeding as I am honestly just so untrusting of an unregulated industry I'd rather source ingredients and make food myself. But my concern is, and my concern about the movement of fresh feeding as a whole, is that the average person doesnt know which vitamins, minerals, nutrients their dog needs or which ingredients give these in the right quantities. I often see "raw feeder advocates" on places like reddit feeding their dog the same one or two beef/carrot/liver/fruit recipes on repeat and it alarms me that their pet is likely nutritionally deficient. Could we get a video explaining how to design a diet? Or what key staples contain which benefits? Unfortunately I dont live in the USA and so do not have access to 90% of the products you discuss so I would love to know how to design a complete diet with fresh human grade ingredients. Thankyou for your videos! They are incredibly insightful. Oh and DIY treats!! I'd love to start adding some DIY treats into my pups diet while I'm getting educated.
Do you have any recommendations for chewy treat for my pitbull puppy - she is 7 weeks - she knows sit both paws lay down but she is still biting and nipping. I have been hand feeding her kibble to teach her to use her tongue. She is getting better at it. At first we had no tongue and alot of aggression - now she mainly uses tongue with occasional times of nips.....if you have any tips for her biting and nipping I would be open to anything. I use a slow feeder as well - I always play with her, so does her dad, she gets alot of attention, she's secluded in her own area - she goes into her crate on her own to sleep - I think she may be missing her litter mates and mom, we got her at 5 and a half weeks. She needs one more round of shots on June 16th and then she will be good to go with that. She has not been outside because the vet recommended her staying in since she isn't fully up to date with shots. We also give her ice cubes sometimes, and tide of mini towels that are wet and frozen for the teething. Those teeth are sharp. I do think she believes she is playing when she bites/nips...I usually say no, I also tried making a noise to let her know she hurt me...which will make her jump back then she just comes full force.....I redirect her energy to toys when she does....but after a few tugs she will let go and come to nip my hand.....I wonder if she nips my hand because she wants a treat or food from my hand.....also I understand she is still a puppy but I have a newborn 2 week old baby and I want to make sure we can train her and keep being consistent with her so she can grow up with the baby.
When your adding all those things together, how do you know your calorie count. I'm just researching switching to homemade food for my dog and ditching kibble. I cant afford some of the really expensove subscriptions but so over weight and all I feed is the recommended amount. We have been to the vet. They have checked his thyroid, I have tried diet foods, i have cut calories. I need a change...but want to make sure I do it right?
Kibbles, even the premium ones, have high carb contents which can lead to obesity in dogs since their systems weren’t meant to digest carbs. You could try a freeze dried raw like Ziwi Peak or a premade raw grind, BJ’s Raw has some amazing ones and they source ingredients from their farm so it’s truly farm to table. Good luck!
Great information; unfortunately, feeding this way is probably not economically possible for many pet parents. Is there a kibble you WOULD recommend for those who can't afford to feed their dog/dogs a raw food diet?
Just be carefull tough Rachel. You should do all raw meat in the bowls before doing other in other bowl and then wash you hand after. Cause right now you touch raw meat and then put the bacteria on all your other ingredients and in your house. I love the neater feeder too I use it for all my pet. Kibble arent all bad its mostly to help in keeping teeth cleaner longer while you use raw food its even more important to clean your dog teeth everyday. I use a vegan kebble for my dog but she's a tiny toy dog. And I love it cause its all natural ingredients without any filler and conservative. Also one of the good substitute for raw meat if you go somewhere without a freezer is hydrolyzed food. Its similar to raw food you just need to add water
Wait wut if they all made a plan and they worked together to open the bag! Tho I think it’s Wally cuz when u were talking about the treats Wally walked away! OMG 😱 my puppy also luvs apple 🍎 slices for a nice treat sometimes I add peanut butter 🥜 and when I sometimes when I feed him I like to add some nice cool filtered water or warm filtered water cuz when he was like 3-6 months old 🐶 he wouldn’t eat his kibble unless if I wet it but he luvs his kibble I always read the labels and ingredients and look at the different meat 🍖 🥩🍗 it has cuz sometimes I buy it with lamb 🐑 or chicken 🐓 or pig 🐖 and cow 🐄 and I get a variety of kibble I get 2 or 3 bags and mix them up for my other dogs 🐶 and they LOVE it! I also mix in some treats that are like pig ears or 🐷turkey 🦃 and also this little snack treat that is a peanut 🥜
I've started doing a DIY for my 7-month-old pup but boy does it take time, wish it was fresh food that's not extremely expensive that I could order. The fresh so-called foods I saw in stores looked awful, freezer burnt, sold out, so started making my own, again just time-consuming.
❗️Do you have a video about grains? I feed my puppy raw food and today the vet told me that I have to feed her grains or she’ll have high risk of having heart problems. I cried when I left m. I feel so frustrated. My prior dog Nala died at 5, heart failure, she always had royal canine kibble, as the Breeder told me to. My last puppy, Tesla, died at 5, other kibble brand and home food. Her body shut down. I’m doing my best for my new puppy Cayetana. Based in everything I’ve been learning, I decided to go raw. But I’ve hit against the wall with my vet’s comments today.
Three of my friends are vets and it’s well known that vet schools are partnered with and get donations from one of the 4 major pet food companies, Mars, Hersheys, Colgate-Palmolive, and there’s one more I can’t recall, so their nutrition courses are highly biased and they’ll tell you that grains are necessary because Al those pet food companies fill their foods with grains and starch because they’re inexpensive. I do raw with my puppy and use a premade grind as the base and add chicken wing, duck head, raw salmon, kefir, green tripe as needed and a raw food supplement to fill nutrient gaps and she does great!
I agree with everything said in the video, but am confused about the coconut oil in the bones and co. It’s highly processed and not at all something a dog would eat in nature. Most of their prey would be lean, animals in nature don’t have that much fat. The dogs I know consuming high fat diets seem to end up with some sort of lump or bump.
I don’t know about Rachel’s reasons but coconut oil stimulates saliva so while I don’t use it often I occasionally use it to line a Kong and then stuff the Kong with either parsley/mint and cucumber/courgette if the dog breath is bad 😂
I love that you not only educate with these videos, but you don't shame people for the way that they feed their pet and instead encourage them to add to enrich their diet in any way possible!
I LOVE THIS
HUGE QUESTION.
Do you have a list of fruits and vegetables dogs can have and their health benefits?
There’s no Bones&Co in Orlando Fl, would you please advice your thoughts on Primal, Farmers dog or some other more accesible raw dog food brands?
Farmers Dog is not raw, but it cooked fresh food! Primal as well as Answers are good raw, pre-made options
@@rebekahcook275 primal isn't truly raw they use HPP.
@@rebekahcook275 thank you for the clarification and sharing options Rebekah! I appreciate youu!
YES!! I filmed a video today showing one. But here’s the links for you:

I just started my 5-month old French bulldog puppy on dr. Marty nature's blend natural freeze dried raw blend I was wondering if you have heard about this yet? So far the stuff is amazing but I'm not even kidding you he only gets a little bit it makes him so energetic that I can't keep up with him have you heard of it and do you suggest it
I'm not able to do Raw, yet I'm still learning a bunch before I do it one day i will. What kibble brands would you recommend? I'm starting to add fresh foods to her kibble but still feed kibble so just needing kibble recommendations
She does have a vid on that that you might find interesting 🙂
@@kat6364 do you know what the video name is?

How do you feel about peanut butter on a lick mat?
You can do it in low dose, like a tablespoon I won’t go above two tablespoons. Check with your vet to make sure they don’t have peanut allergies before feeding peanut butter
what is he name of the raw food you out in the bowl in this video pleaese I dont see it in the links
i just ordered the essence dog food-- do you think they're good?
I would love a deep dive on this.... my dog is allergic to chicken and beef and is eating rabbit Royal Canne.... I add veggies and Kongs but have trouble knowing how to feed raw and also, have a hard time finding bones and chews....
I dont know what you have around where you live. But I work in a PetStore and we have Duck raw meat for hypoallergic pet. Could be an option for your dog
How do you know how much for feeding them?
At the moment my dogs are eating kibble, I am interested in adding kibble toppers. If I were to add kibble toppers would I reduce the amount of kibble I give them and if so how much?
Great information, just wish I could afford to buy this stuff
Hi I was wondering do you know if any dog breed like a Maltipoo can eat this kind of food or is it just for more bigger dogs.
I wish you could just come live with me for a week and change my life lol😂😂😂
Learning a lot ... I can't feed my dog raw she's a Yorkie Poo but , I feed her Carna4 ... I wanna add some of the toppers ... My question is how much do I do my puppy ? She will be under 10 pounds ... Thanks ..
Love these videos ...
Where did you get the meatballs from
I seen in a late previous video you had a berkey. Why did you change to the aquatru?
Both are great! I preferred the testing done on the AquaTru - the filter options and the speed. We go through a ton of water and the Berkey just wasn’t fast enough
@@RachelFusaro oh ok! do you add the minerals back in?
Thank you for the information on raw feeding. I was hoping that you would of addressed the salmonella/ potential hazards associated with raw feeding.
Went in depth on this in the video I filmed today. Will post ASAP!
Have you tried Primal? I believe they sell cat food as well.
@@neiya8862 She’s on primal frozen raw nuggets now! She loves it.
Are the ice cream type of slow feeders ok to use while feeding raw? Like can u still clean them good?
Would absolutely love to see your favorite raw food dog brands!
Can I feed dogs steamed ground chicken, pork or beef? or saute them?
Rachel, Didn’t you day Bully chew products are good for puppies?
How often do you feed each day?
Is filtered water better than spring water?
How do you feel about air dried raw food like Ziwi Peak for example?
I believe that on her shop page she recommends/mentions Ziwi Peak 😊
@@leslierivera4287 Awesome, thank you for letting me know! ☺️
I LOVE some of Ziwi products. They source responsibly AND air dry their products so nutrients are more bioavailable ❤️❤️❤️ See here: a.co/93ovLSn

Great! So glad to hear because that is what we feed our pup. Thank you for all your wonderful videos! ❤️
How many times a day do you feed?
Can puppies eat out of the slow feeders ? I was told to use raised feeders ... Just curious on what bowls you recommend ? More videos on this stuff ..
She has another video answering this. I would recommend searching her channel videos for it.
Yes! I just filmed one on this today and will post soon 😍
#thankyou
I have one of these slow feeders, are they good with dry food?
They work with dry food just fine!
@@jlf9471 Thank you 🙂
do you feed this 2x/day?
1-2x
@@RachelFusaroso some days 1? Why not two on those days?
Is dehydrated raw dog food as good as frozen raw?
Is the patty cheaper then getting farmers dog?
😍
Is this safe for puppies?
Girl how much do you spend a month to feed your dogs and how much time do you spend shopping and preparing
Also I do want u to go in a deep dive of raw meat diet!😃
Can you tell me what you do when your on a airplane ✈️ and you have a dog 🐶
I do want high protein and very low carbs. xoxox
