- 1993 second version of the video, filmed for the US market. Originally released in 1992, this single charted at #1 in the UK, #14 in Australia, and #32 in the US. From Tasmin's debut album 'Great Expectations'.
I was nominated editor of the year with MTV for this edit. Helped start my film career ;). thank you for having this on UA-cam
One of the most loveliest, most beautiful, dreamiest, songs I've ever heard. I remember when it first came out and I instantly fell in love with it. I wanted nothing more that to play it over and over and over again. To listen to this woman's gorgeous voice flow throughout the atmosphere. Something so magical about this song that takes you to another place. Another plateau, another dimension perhaps. Somwhere far away where things are better and happier. Somewhere where the satellites are sleeping, most likely. :D And where you can hang out and talk with Tasmin Archer. :*)
I was just 18! I LOVED it back then, and I still do... Takes me back in time. Love, love her amazing voice! 👍
Always loved this song. What an amazing voice. The whole album is great-still listen to it.
This is a great song. I think it was one of the first Alternative songs. It did not get much airplay in the USA but i suppose if it only was peaking at 32 it would not.. She has a tremendous voice..GREAT SONG
Wow this US version is really nice
Thank You for Posting this 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

My Favorite British Song in Absolute of 90's!💖
Just beautiful , a gorgeous song by an amazing woman.
Such a beautiful voice. This is a stunning song. xx
that's right Blacks Girls can 🎸 Rock's too !!!Rock on TASMIN !!!!
OMG loved this song since I first heard it. It takes me back to when I was 17 it's one of those songs that has a stream of consciousness flow to it. I remember having my radio on at night, and then wake up to hearing it before having to go to school
I know!!! Love this song!
LOVE LOVE this......
I LOVE THIS SONG....
love this old song
reminds me of spring 93 and all the cool music KROQ in Los Angeles was playing. Depeche, terence trent D'arby, stereo MC's and this magical mystical song. lyrics full of imagination and sung so beautifully.
MAGIC MUSIC Beautiful Tasmin
Wow, First time I see this video!
her best song
Wonderful song. This video is the one I remember. I just finished watching what was apparently the original video. I think I prefer the original vid to this one.
Amazing,love this song!!!
I love the slightly unstable vibe she put forth in this video at times!! It makes her seem enigmatic as well as beautiful. :P
This song is so beautiful and I haven't heard it in years. Such a beautiful voice and a song about something other than bling and meaningless dribble. I guess we don't hear it because it is a song that can be seen as an anti-corporate song and "The dream that died with the eagle's flight." = America's birth. I visited her site and will be buying her latest album which allows you to pay what you can afford.
👍forever number one amazing ❤
I wish the fade out was longer in this version!!!!! :(
what a woman, what a voice...
yes, it's a mystery why where career didn't grow.
Her music has the uncanny ability to plunge Switzerland into a recession
Not sure what was wrong with the UK video for the US version, but glad we have two to look back on.
No focus on the band, just the individual.
This video is so much better than the UK version which doesn't even make sense, even if you think this is some sort of 'anti corporate' song(WTF?). The UK video has an angel(not the moon goddess nor is there any angel that is assigned the moon in Christian mythology) and a mixture of astrology and what looks like 17th or 18th century science getups. Hint for the uneducated: the "Eagle" is not the US but the lunar lander, the moon has DRY SEAS on it (look it up for an explanation) and this song seems to me about humanity and its striving for the stars.
I think the song is more about our place in the grand scheme, this video representing the astronomers perspective and the original/british one representing the alchemists search( on an elemental level) but both looking for the answer
I blame you for the moonlit sky
and the dream that died with the eagles' flight.
I blame you for the moonlit nights when
I wonder why are the seas still dry?
Don't blame this sleeping satellite.
Did we fly to the moon too soon,
did we squander the chance in the rush of the race,
the reason we chase is lost in romance.
And still we try to justify the waste for a taste
of man's greatest adventure oh.
Have we lost what it takes to advance?
Have we peaked too soon?
If the world is so green
Then why does it scream under a blue moon?
We wonder why
If the earth's sacrificed
For the price of its greatest treasure.
Did we fly to the moon too soon,
did we squander the chance in the rush of the race,
the reason we chase is lost in romance.
And still we try to justify the waste for a taste
of man's greatest adventure oh.
And when we shoot for the stars
What a giant step;
Have we got what it takes
To carry the weight of this concept
Or pass it by?
Like a shot in the dark
Miss the mark with a sense of adventure.
Did we fly to the moon too soon,
did we squander the chance in the rush of the race,
the reason we chase is lost in romance.
And still we try to justify the waste for a taste
of man's greatest adventure oh.
magnifique chanson je kife grave
Meravigliosa!!!!❤❤
awesome!
I always wondered what the song was called I’ve heard it a few times and it looked like tonight I finally found it is it really nice song...I read that it was two guys that route this song really nice the fair let us know sonic the instrumentation is a little bit uninteresting but sometimes I really think it’s great depends on where it is but the melody is the thing that really caught my ear with this song and the lovely voice it was really nice
It took me 17 years to get here.
And to farther clarify what I mean, in the UK version not ONCE will you see the moon or even a symbol of the moon (unless its small and hidden somewhere) and I have no clue why she is singing in the snow, nor what the apparent confusion of science and astrology is supposed to mean. In short the UK version looks 'pretty' but seems to lack all sense. The US version has a freaking cosmic scale of things as the lyrics of the song would seem to represent.
also, this version is way better because you see Tasmin having more eye contact with the camera, the UK version was hiding her away with all the backdrops and other actors.
Super8 remix took this to the next level
They used to play this song at the coronation of the Miss Universe between 1995 to 1998
Gotta love The Quirky Black Girl. We don't play by the rules.
BlaqueViolet Tasmin beautiful girl.
not that it is important, but i had no idea of Tasmin's skin complexion and never felt it was relevant (though i got positively surprised watching the video for the first time), what matters is her unforgettable, unmistaken, great, melodic and powerful voice. in my top 3 of best songs of 1990s.
GREat
@misterLobaloma Actually a #32 position in the US for this isn't as bad as it seems. It was Tasmin's debut release, and although a brilliant tune, it isn't exactly super commercial. Plus it's extra hard to 'crack' the US market if you're not based there. Of course it deserved more success there though.
I remember this video and song. To me it was very holographic due to the fact it was about the moon and going to the lunar surface too soon.A great tune though, sadly the first time I saw the video was the same day of the Waco Fire.
too many questions - no easy answer
@luckyfingers1213 You mean versions of videos (although sometimes there are different versions of the songs too). In this case, with videos, it's probably because the UK version wasn't literal enough for the US market, sadly. Sometimes it can also be because the UK version is lower budget; but I think in this case that the UK video looks (much) better than the US one.
US VERSION GOOD.
Tasmin Why did you VKontakte in the new video that you made for the song sleeping satellites closed the audio track? Is this your kind of gratitude or what
Que linda rola , con todo respeto , canta como blanca , cuando la oi en la radio por primera vez , eso pense , sin importar su raza , no vayan a malinterpretar
Jajaja blanca, negra, amarilla...la cancion esta genial y esa voz es esplendida😆
the first version of the video is better.
i think this biebrr is canadian.
she is unique but reminds me of a young Anita Baker only in english form
why are there UK and US versions of songs? I noticed this with Ellie Gouldings Starry eyed also ... ae UK people's brains wired to thier ears differently or something????
look at the uk-video verison of this classic 92's hit
the uk version is much more expensive and literal and this poor US-market version of the video....this one dont tell the story of the song like the uk-version does
UK version is soooo much better.. from a US girl
#32 in the US...what's wrong with U Americans??that's why U have Justin biebrr(am i spell correct??NO!!!!) today...!!!~~
To be fair, during that time in the US you had artists like Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Eric Clapton, Vanessa Williams and Elton John just tearing up the charts. It was really competitive.
The original music video from the U.K. is a million times better than this.
Even though it came out in 1992, it sounds like it was created in 1988.
