i personally prefer the black slides and more data. Great videos by the way. As a new player to 40k this is a very digestible and engaging way to learn more about the game side of everything.
Black and more data. I often watch at night with the lights off, and more data means I can make more informed decisions about how the unit works into my playstyle.
@@vivian-alexandrarivers897 Depends on what you're throwing into them, I suppose. The only thing I was really getting at is that you don't really shoot Eradicators at infantry if they aren't your oath target - but in this case, it does make fishing a slightly more effective strategy against them with the wombo-combo, especially if you're within half-range. Sure, the math says that half of your wounds will bounce off their invuln, but the other half is a dead terminator per failed save. Swingy as all hell, I'll grant you but something I think should be included.
You can also get this combo in the Anvil Siege Force, which I foolishly and stubbornly stick with, because pain is the finest teacher. Biologis for crits, 1cp for sustained 6+, which becomes 5+ when remaining stationary, an unfortunate downside, to be sure. It does however offer an improved version of this combo, as the rifles gain +1 to hit and the multi meltas gain +1 to hit AND wound whilst stationary. There's tactics for getting them into range whilst remaining stationary and not dropping models, if you know what you're doing. Though, Gladius is still vastly better for the ease of use.
Personally I love the extra data, but if it's possible to highlight the "important'" breakpoints then it can be accessible to those that just want the rough chances for their combos to work. Love this channel and hope it continues to blow up!
Really enjoying these videos. Would love to see the fishing information. Also keen to see the distribution on the Taurox Prime + 5 Scions + Command Squad + Primaris Psyker combo. The damage output is wild
Love the math breakdown keep it up! If possible it would be cool if a did a mock roll using a random dice generator at the end just to see it play out , or you just throw actual dice.
That sounds like a lot of fun. We have kinda discussed this once or twice in passing. Ima try to incorporate that and see how it goes. Thank you for the suggestion
Great video, thanks for making it. I was a fan of the highlights I've got 2 combos that I think are pretty apocalyptic. By the Blood ❣ 1) Terminator Librarian +10 terminators in Liberator Assault Group. I run the fight first enhancement and regular terminators for utility, but I believe lighting claw assault terminators would deal more damage on paper 2) 6 assault centurions in Liberators deals unholy damage into monsters/vehicles Both of these combos I'm generally using Oath and Red Rampage. I also run the combi weapon lt for reroll 1s to wound, it doesnt often come up but is a factor occasionally. There is also a secret maneuver in Liberators where if you heroic intervention a unit you turn on the charge buffs, if that unit then gets charged later in the phase you can use Savage Echos to grant a further additional +1 attack (maybe even +1 extra strength and battleshock yourself if you've got a chaplin to cleanse the shock in the fight phase so you can still Red Rampage the unit we are stacking buffs on). I've only pulled of the combo 2 times, and never the shenanigans with the chaplin, but it's a cool secret damage max
@warphammer-math it can be truely apocalyptic. I prefer a 3 man for cheap and fits in a landraider but number crunching big squads is fun. There max melee damage is 216 (270 with the secret savage echos combo) if you magically only roll 6s which is insane compared to other melee units magically improbable maximum damage
"Be careful because you're gonna fail 1 in 500 times" had me cracked up. Love the added edits but Fire Discipline is the right one, it used to be called Bolter Discipline but when the codex came out they renamed it. Pretty sure the graph of melta weapons into half damage abilities should be classed as art. I personally prefer as much data as can fit on a screen but I would hate for other people to get lost in values that aren't critical. Love the mathhammer videos! And would love to see what that combo looks like with boltstorm aggressors who, admittedly are more reliant on getting a second pip of AP from storm of fire and have to shoot the closest target, have no issues shooting into invulnerable saves with huge waves of low damage AP-2 shots, fond memories of shooting out angron with that twice in one game but I'm not entirely convinced I was odds on to do that twice especially when the second one came down to that absolver bolt pistol at the end to get past the feel no pain from the blessings of khorne roll
@@warphammer-math I didn't mind it so much, as much as prefered the name bolter discipline it was definitely not best utilized on bolters especially before the desolation nerf waves and felt a little wierd to have "bolter discipline rocket launchers"
Do a similar combo...The new Index Deathwatch Indomitor team with apothecary biologis. 2 hvy intercessors with rifles, 2 with hvy bolters, 3 boltstorm aggressors, 2 melta erads, 1 multi melta Erad....some modifiers to take in consideration is the special issue ammo and Mission.Tactics
Would love to see the math on a unit of 10 deathwatch vets, four heavy thunder hammers, four power weapons/shields (one a xenophase), and two frag cannons, backed up by a judiciar with thief of secrets! Also how it would interact with the different doctrines and/or oath of moment. I think theyre one of the hardest units out there, but I would like to see the math! Only 20pts more than bladeguard, which is the judiciar's regular hidy-hole.
You should probably look at fire discipline with aggressors with bolters and grenade launchers. They fair better against the heavy infantry and invul targets. They also have the option of punching morti in the face
Have to say I really love your videos. I love 40k and math. Also really enjoy your format, it is easy to follow and learn. If I may make a request, I'd really like a faction focus series. For example, I play Grey Knights and a video featuring their math output would be wonderful. In the Grey Knight community it is highly regarded that Brotherhood Librarians are good... I disagree. I've played them a bunch, did the mathhammer and 2-3 mortals is only reliable output. I personally find a Brother-Captain leading a Paladin squad with full Psycannons more reliable in output. Interested if you agree, would love a video on that and anything I'm overlooking in that faction. Also my buddy plays Admech, he needs help, would love a video about them that I could send him a link to.
I really appreciate your support. I'm still finding my feet. I have so many ideas for content that I want to make. I love the idea of doing faction focuses. I think it will take me a little while to get there, but its definitely part of the plan.
New fly in the ointment. 5+ critical hits have been removed from the Fire Discipline bonus, which nerfs this combo for all Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Space Wolves, Black Templars, and Deathwatch. However, all other chapters now get +1 to wound rolls from Oath of Moment. If you're UM running Guilliman, you can do this to two targets per battle round.
As a big guard player i feel like a 10 man scion squad with a tempestus command squad attached would be a good one. Usually you go melta/plasma and get the full rr to hit by deepstriking and attacking there rear objective. its a surprising amout of damage. you can even send them up the board and hop out of a crassus and get rr wounds. 2 full blobs can fit for shits and giggles
I have a request, how about checking the durability of The Silent King under all buff's of the new Grotzmas detachment? People seems to be losing their minds about it. (Not so much only about his statline, but also for persistent durability with the Necron regeneration) For quick reference, the full list of buff's are: - CHRONO‑IMPEDANCE FIELDS enhancement on a character near TSK, and buffing him with it. (-1 to damage characteristics targeting TSK) - UNYIELDING FORMS stratagem, basically -1 to wound him if the Strength of the attack is higher that its toughness. - Canoptek Spyder near TSK, which would give him a 6+ FnP, and a 5+ Fnp against psychic. and lastly boosting its overall durability: - ENDLESS SERVITUDE stratagem (fight phase) to heal him if needed. This together the Canoptek Reanimator near, for a 2D3 heal on the use, and at the command phase another 2D3 heal. Also, you have to take in count that the 2 Menhirs are extra models that can soak up excess damage! I dont know if its as durable against a single attack as other stuff, but seems pretty difficult to chew through in a single activation, thus allowing it to heal a lot back helping its staying power.
Give Helbrect, Sword Bretheran, and a melee lieutenant while in the sustained hits vow a shot. That combo allowed me to run over Mortarion, then 20 plague marines, then typhus and his 20 pox walkers. The unit came out the other side on turn 3 with both heroes and 3 sword brethren still standing.
I have seen this combo used with Aggressors instead of Eradicators, just for the pure weight of fire the amoung of shots they put out can create with sustained and lethal hits. Thankfully, the one time I faced that it turned out that 3 Fire Prisms can pretty reliably take out a 6-man squad of Eradicators/Aggressors each round. For the Avatar it's so rare to see him without the -1 to wound from a Farseer it might be worth factoring that in.
Dig these videos man, keep making them. I got a simulation for you, I'm an Ork player and I can't decide if I want to run Mozrog Skragbad or a Beastboss on Squigasaur with the Headwhoppa's Killchoppa enhancement in my War Horde list. Mozrog has higher damage, but the Beastboss with the Killchoppa gets lethal hits. I feel like Mozrog gets more damage through in most situations, but I'm really not sure.
I would love to hear how to know when it is worth fishing when you have full re roll with either lethal 6/5s or sustained 6/5. Thanks! Another fun topic might be plague marines with attached biologus. Crit 5s, everything lethal. Strats for sustained 1 or 2 depending.
This combo is really strong, but I’d on ruse it since I have two gladiator lancers. I use Aggressors with Calgar to get Advance, shot, and charge. Aggressors can kill a Landraider with bolters/gernades then charge and kill what was inside. I had Aggressor combo kill, 10 Hellblasters and leave Azreal with 2 wounds, then kill the Lion, then kill Deathwing squad, and finally got taken down by second deathwing squad, but Calgar finished them off next turn with Tactical doctrine. The deathwing squads went down to shooting and power fists.
Video idea: DMG and Durability comparision of: Rhino+Predator destructor with boltgun and lascannons vs Land Raider From point of view of Death Guard especially. Should we put a squad of 10 plague marines with leaders into rhino and take predator or maybe one land raider is not that bad of an option either? Also more data is always better but having some kind of highlights on important threshholds is helpful ;)
Could you do a video on whether Kastelan bots are worth it with the two recent updates, the new ad mech detachment and the balance points change for the unit?
I'd love to see a damage analysis of the Ad Mech Onager's Eradication Beamer. 2D3 attacks with sustained D3 is the most hilarious casino cannon in the game imo. It's like a slot machine on legs 😂
I think ima do a deep dive here soon. Without running sims, I feel like it’s their flexibility that makes them really strong. They work fairly well into everything. Kinda jack of all.
this is awesome. Math has always been hard for me, but I've had to return to it as an adult for warhammer lol. It's still hard, but I try. Please teach me.
Once I get more established I want to dive a little deeper into the math. I think I could make a lot of things a lot easier to understand and consider…. At least…. That’s my goal.
Great video as always! slightly sad that today's dataslate removed crit 5+ part of the combo. I'm very curious how much additional juice you can squeeze from splitting fire. As you've perfectly shown, strong shooting (and swingy Eradicators especially) are very prone to overkill. One can redirect this excess damage into additional targets. I.e., what is the optimal strategy for shooting two 6x Eradicators bricks into three tanks (e.g. Leman Russes), and how much you can get from changing it to 6x+3x+3x squads.
It is called Fire Discipline, Games Workshop changed the name from Bolter to Fire because it doesn't make sense for Eradicators and Hellblasters as, no Bolters.
Okay. Now with the dataslate and in Firestorm with S10 (inside 12”), Biologus with Forged in Battle - auto flip a 6, and now that actually procs the Lethal hit.
Great video love this concept of high level maths but kinda chill. However I don't play Eldar and neither does my friend so how does something like a knight fare? And how tanky are the Deathwing Knights actually? (especially agains custodes)
Comment for the comment god! With the new points changes Death Company w/ jump packs and Sanguinary Guard are the same point cost. Could be fun to compare them
I feel like im going crazy- the enhancement IS fire discipline- its fire discipline in the app. On wahapedia. Everywhere ive ever heard it jts been fire discipline. What the heck- is this what gas lighting feels like
they be nerfing this combo like crazy, the only part of the combo they did not nerf last data slate was the repulsor , but they point nerfed the errats the bio and the strat now they actually nerfed the functionality of the strat
Guys I’m telling you aggressors/calgar/Biologis with the same combo and with oath (as you would anyway lol) is better into everything because you also get a decent melee profile trust me avatar of khaine one would hate it because he can’t halve 45+ lethals and sustained wounds. Also you guys forgot storm of fire which also part of the wombo combo for anything in dev doctrine too, +1AP and ignore cover
@ the recent dataslate has nerfed this combo… but i would be interested to see the breakdown of what a six-man squad can do in the Firestorm detachment with s10 melta!
OK, that's crazy cause my table experience with this is not even close to what the math is showing. Would love to see that combo but put it with Hellblasters. Lt with Fire Discipline (that's the correct name according to updated gladius detachment.) I know it's not as good as eradicators against vehicles but its efficient enough and definitely out performs against elite infantry and infantry. Obviously needing Oath for rerolls. Black sheets please!
hello. love your vidéo but your' not using the realy huge tarket like imperial kihght like the cerastus knight lancer ( t=12;w=25, 4+ invus and 6+ feels no paignt that can be upgrade to a 5+) not sur that the eradicateur can one shoot it.
I'm in this weird place where I find this very interesting and cool but I would never want to play against the kind of person who does these calculations and puts them into practice.

Its REALLY funny that you dropped this video 8hrs ago, and 2hrs ago the combo was absolutely shitted on by GW and nerfed into the ground.
😭
this is awesome.
Interesting idea! I’ll think on that
Can you compare zoanthropes and hive guard? With and with out all buffs
Infinite white backgrounds burn my darn soul, dark mode please lol
lol, noted!
It is called Fire Discipline, Games Workshop changed the name from Bolter to Fire because it doesn't make sense for Eradicators and Hellblasters as, no Bolters.
That… makes a lot of sense
Okay. Now with the dataslate and in Firestorm with S10 (inside 12”), Biologus with Forged in Battle - auto flip a 6, and now that actually procs the Lethal hit.
Oh, and with/without the oath +1 to W.
And you can Overwatch and get the RR’s…still 6’s to hit but they’re lethal…and can still flip a 6.
Just curious, what would the new average wound value be if that land raider have 5+ invul save ?
32 wounds instead of 40 wounds ? 🤔
Exactly. You get a 20% reduction if you go from saving on 6 to saving on 5.
Would be nice to see the difference with the newest dataslate
Very cool video. New Balance Dataslate just dropped. no more crits on 5+. Also, I prefer more math explanations. Very educationsal.
Great video love this concept of high level maths but kinda chill. However I don't play Eldar and neither does my friend so how does something like a knight fare? And how tanky are the Deathwing Knights actually? (especially agains custodes)
I want to make a deathwing knights video. They seem soooo tanky.
@ RIGHT! I have just built mine and they seem to be really good against a lot of things but damage 2 weapons is insane
James Workshop did this on purpose, they’re on to you
Comment for the comment god!
What the heck- is this what gas lighting feels like
I was soooo confused when I went back to edit this. I was certain!!! So glad I’m not the only one.
I prefer the more compact data delivery 🤘🏻
Is there any chance we can get a breakdown of how many termagants do it take to take down a warlord titan in one turn?
Like this idea… how many x to take down y. Might not be super useful, but would be entertaining.
I'm so sorry lmao. GW waited for this video to drop the dataslate.
Right?!?
they be nerfing this combo like crazy, the only part of the combo they did not nerf last data slate was the repulsor , but they point nerfed the errats the bio and the strat now they actually nerfed the functionality of the strat
So much math to be done when the new Eldar book is released!
I’m so excited!
would love some Math hammer on the Different DW units to make some of the best units for different roles :D
That’s a good idea. I’ve been looking at doing something with the deathwing knights too.
You killed it lol
I gotta learn when to keep my mouth shut apparently. :)
What would casting Fortune on the Avatar change in the math?
That…. Makes him sooo much harder to take down. Roughly a 25% decreases in average damage dealt for this combo… lethals still help ALOT
Please break down fishing and what you need to make it "worth" fishing vs. not fishing. That's currently the math I'm stuck on personally.
I’m definitely do this! I’m so stoked about the interest in this topic.
what if you shoot the target with incursors before, giving the eradicators a +1 to hit? 👀
Ohhhhh…. That is a great use of incursors!
@ the recent dataslate has nerfed this combo… but i would be interested to see the breakdown of what a six-man squad can do in the Firestorm detachment with s10 melta!
Please do some wacky Necron combos please!!!
I’ll be working on some necron stuff soon.
Do stuff with the doomsday ark and/or the shard of the void dragon
On the short list!
@ yipee
OK, that's crazy cause my table experience with this is not even close to what the math is showing.
Would love to see that combo but put it with Hellblasters. Lt with Fire Discipline (that's the correct name according to updated gladius detachment.) I know it's not as good as eradicators against vehicles but its efficient enough and definitely out performs against elite infantry and infantry. Obviously needing Oath for rerolls.
Black sheets please!
Well, dataslate makes this pointless now.
Def going back to black sheets.
Aaaand its gone. 😂
😭
What about killing morty?
Works 50% of the time, every time.
@warphammer-math that's impressive 👏 every time
I suppose they are not referred to as Eradicators for nothing. Also RIP crit 5’s gone but not forgotten.
WAAAAAAAAGH!!!!!
Knight killers?
Titan killers?????
Greast subject for a video.
Now that this video is not relevant please do best combos with Guilliman and new oath!
wut about warlord titan.
hello. love your vidéo but your' not using the realy huge tarket like imperial kihght like the cerastus knight lancer ( t=12;w=25, 4+ invus and 6+ feels no paignt that can be upgrade to a 5+) not sur that the eradicateur can one shoot it.
I wonder what it takes to take down a knight 🤔
make it your oath aswell
New +1 wound aswell
This just became outdated by the balance dataslate. Unlucky lads, love your work, just Sod’s Law!
Thank you for the encouragement!
Games Workshop decided to mock you and change Fire Discipline not even a full day after upload.
I'm in this weird place where I find this very interesting and cool but I would never want to play against the kind of person who does these calculations and puts them into practice.
Nooooooo! Ironically I love math and data…. But my heart actually belongs to the narrative part of the game. I’m well known in my gaming group for taking off meta lists. I just wanna have fun with the cool models I have :)
@@warphammer-math Well I think they just removed this combo lol.
Are all these damages assuming you’re in melta range?
Yes… it makes such a big difference
This is an interesting video but i will completly ignore it and keep my 6 man squad with the biologis.
