When my sons were 6and 3 they wanted to know what was for dinner, I said meatloaf and au gratin potatoes. My youngest looked so sad and he followed his brother into the living room. In a few minutes I heard the youngest ask his brother “Why is mommy feeding us old rotten potatoes”, kids, aren’t they amazing and funny

Steven is absolutely hilarious. Some of the sayings he comes up with are genius. He could be a professional comedian. He has this serious face that turns into a Chesser cat. Mandy, even you seem to be caught off guard when he does this. Love the sausage and potato casserole. I guess you could use ground turkey, or even ground sirloin.

I definitely remember Putting on the Ritz!
I see someone said there is lots of sodium in canned soup so you don’t need to add salt. Well I don’t care how much sodium is in the canned soup, it needs more salt when added to other foods like this! As a great lady says in her videos “You do you!” I’ll just add and they can do them!
    Thanks for the new ideas!

These are all winners! You really knocked it out of the park today. My favorite was the first one, the sausage and potato casserole. Because I love y'all so much, I'm going to share my "magic crumbs" recipe with you. I use my food processor to grind up equal parts of Caesar salad croutins and Crunchy Cheetos (not the baked ones). They are wonderfully delicious any time you want a crunchy crumb topping. They store very well in an air-tight container such as a mason jar. They are a great topping for casseroles, veggies, mac & cheese, baked fish, soups -- the list is endless. Best of all they are always handy and ready to use, and they never get soggy during cooking. Enjoy!

Makes me think of the humorous little article a father wrote to Reader's Digest about his son; when the child was about 4, he was in a restaurant with his Mom and Dad, and after hearing Dad order "eggs over easy" the little guy told the waitress that he also wanted "eggs o'greasy"! Still makes me laugh when I think about that.

Mandy I’m watching this at 1:45 Sat Morning & didn’t have time earlier to watch the whole video. I’m onto the French Dip Recipe & this is the recipe (except for the peppers). We make it for our Christmas Party with our extended family. It’s usually around 40 people. One year I made a Pioneer Woman shrimp recipe, which everyone loved, but my oldest son threatened to disown me if I didn’t bring the French Dip the next year, LOL. It’s my 2 sisters, all of our children, their spouses, grandchildren & some really close friends. We have way too much food, but we share leftovers with each other & make a lot of great memories!😊

Just a heads up in case it hasn’t occurred to you, but canned soup are very high in sodium so you don’t need to add any extra salt when cooking with it. You might need to add a little salt to your extra ingredients but not to the soup, at least that’s how I work with it. Just sharing my point of you. Love all that you do to help us plan better meals

Mandy, I made your mom's brown rice tonight for dinner BUT....I was short on time so I tried it in the instapot. Everyone loved it but the instapot recipe was 1-1 ratio rice/water so i used 2 cups of rice and both the can of consumme and the french onion soup. I also added a can of mushrooms and a couple slices of cooked bacon. ANYWAY.....as much as we loved it I want to know how it compares to the oven cooked version .....the original. I've never made it before but I had planned to have it with our grilled steaks tonight and I forgot how long it took in the oven. The instapot only took 4 minutes (plus heatup time and natural release time). Please let me know. Oh, and we have so much leftovers I think I'll maybe add some ground beef to it for another meal.

All three recipes sound yummy! The potato and sausage casserole is right up my alley! Your glazed carrots sound VERY good. But my favorite way to make carrots is to slice and simmer them until they just lose their crunch, drain & return to the pot, add a decadent amount of salted butter and a decadent amount of fresh chopped basil. Put the lid on the pot for a couple of minutes, stir & devour. Love them cold from the fridge too! Haven't had them since Christmas, so I'll be making some soon! Love your channel! Quite a few of your recipes have become favorites! Thank you for sharing with us!

The potatoe casserole has been in my house many times. It was my boys favorite when they were tiny youngins! I usually save a step and don't boil the potatoes, they cook up fine as long as I didn't slice them thick. Now I make a homemade rue and replace the tators with cauliflower rice. The recipes you pick always bring back wonderful memories from past years! Keep smiling 😃!

Have you ever made Missouri ? It's similar to this recipe but you use gr beef, tomatoes and sliced potatoes all layered . Add a little salt and pepper over each layer, I like onion so I brown 1 medium onion and add it to each layer. I pour any extra tomatoes with juice on top. I bake mine at 350 for about 1 hour. test a potato to see if it needs to bake longer. I use home canned tomatoes but you can use canned tomatoes , I would use whole tomatoes and coarsely chop it up. I find diced tomatoes to be to hard in texture. My two sons and my husband loved when I made this and it's easy on the budget.

You could toss those potato slices in a microwave safe dish with a splash of water and cover with Saran Wrap. Microwave about 10 minutes to par cook. Then finish putting it together and bake. Cuts way down on the bake time. My mom does this with scalloped potatoes. The texture and consistency is better and still gets its golden brown. Such a time saver.

Woot Woot a Friday Video! I really wanna try the French Dips! My Hubby loves them- he also lovvvedd the Beer Bacon Cheese Sloppy Joes- he had them 3 days in a row as lunch after having them for dinner. He used Tostitos scoops one of the days- and he said that was amazing :)

It reminds me of a good friend who used to say that fast food isn't good if you don't see grease on the bag! 🤣

My sister also did a tap routine to Puttin on the Ritz when we were younger. They had to roll out giant wooden coins then tap on top of them.
