    “This was when cars were shaped like cars, not shaped like gently used bars of soap” 😂😂 Just bought a pristine 1997 C230 today and I couldn’t agree with this statement more!!

    I recently took ownership of my father’s c230 and I gotta tell you, it’s an amazing project.
    Its really easy to work on, I don’t even have any engine fixing experience as a 20 year old.
    Love your vid 👍🏽

    I have 1999 c280 sport and I’m absolutely in love with it. I owned the same car back in 2009 and I just bought the current one I have last year (2020). It is my favorite car to drive.

    Great cars. Easy to work on yourself. Mine haven’t let me down. People say stay away from Mercedes but if you can DIY they are actually solid machines.

      Until it takes a huge shit on your face cause I’ve owned 3 w202s. All supercharged. They are fun to fix but some stuff u can’t unless you have a lot of mechanical experience. Why cause I take it to a shop and there like, who did this. Not me? Previous owners. It woulda lasted longer if it was OEM. You have to give them what they want or they will destroy your bank account. Love my car but I don’t see myself keeping it if it starts to get weird again.

    Just picked up a 1 owner c280 from a senior w/ 104k by chance and was not looking for this car at all. But to my surprise it's very smooth and unique driving experience.

      That straight 6 is buttery smooth and a well cared for example at around 100k pretty much drives like new.

    I drive a 1996 C220, 150hp and I expected it to be way way slower than it is. It's not a racer but when you need to put your foot to the floor it will move. 0-60 is nothing to write home about, but once the rpm's are right it picks up swiftly. Top speed with mine was 215 kmph (133 mph)
    I'd like to test a 230 Kompressor, I guess this one will actually feel really quick.
    One thing I love about the sound is this bus/train like humming/whirring sound when accelerating in a normal way. I can't really describe it. Driving it definitely feels like you are driving a big stately limousine without having the disadvantages of a big car. It' actually really small and the turning radius in phenomenal. Perfect for German cities.
    The key should work when you point it somewhere at the rearview mirror. I have a little tree hanging in front of the mirror so it won't really unlock when I'm standing at the hood. But when I just want to open the trunk I point it at the mirror through the rear window and it works just fine.
    It's funny how the pre-facelift key is so rudimentary but the facelift key will open and close your windows, swing the trunk wide open, and it even locks the doors automatically when you start driving.

      Trevor Haynes hello is it good if the miles are 200k+??

    • @trinipattan1472
      @trinipattan1472  4 роки тому +3

      @@lilbearr8694 it purely depends on the car, how it was used and how it was maintained. I've seen cars with 250k that drive just fine and I've seen cars with 150k that were absolutely rubbish. Give it a once over, drive it, talk to the owner and find out if they loved owning it or if it was a problem child. If you have the slightest doubts, get a buyer's check. Be objective. Just because you like a car doesn't necessarily mean it's a good car. I've seen cars I was in love with in pictures but had to walk away from. Also keep in mind that even the best maintained car with 200k will come with some imperfections.
      I guess what I'm saying is a car with 200k can possibly have a good 100-150k of good useful miles left in it but do your due diligence. If you get the right car at a decent price you will definitely enjoy it.
      Good luck!

    Hey mate. I have two C280s (1 manual and 1 automatic transmission). The reason why the glovebox is so small is that the passenger airbag was not in mind of the designers when they designed the car. The early 202s have much bigger gloveboxes. Not sure why (maybe cause I'm kinda fat and have the perfect size for this car) but I never drove a car that was more comfortable than this. If you ever get a Mercedes with a M104 engine (the straight six 24 valve engine)... all of them need a new wire harness sooner or later! I have documents and pictures to restore them. Cheers

      Greetings from South Africa, hope you are well, I have a 96 C280, which had its harness rebuilt (poorly) by previous owner, would you be willing to share any info on rebuilding it as no one in my town will touch the car (scared of flaking insulation even though it’s all new wires) I would be very grateful for your help. Thanks.

    Hi Trevor, I just "stumbled" on your page. I also bought a 1998 C230 about two years ago and I absolutely love it. It was owned by an older woman that just drove to church, etc. Unfortunately, she passed away and it just sat in the driveway. It was well maintained, just a few minor things. On another note, I listened to your accent and wondered if you are from St. Thomas V.I.?

    • @trinipattan1472
      @trinipattan1472  3 роки тому +3

      There is some road noise but 90% of that can attributed to the old tires. You can hear the engine at highway speeds because it's turning almost 3000rpm but it's still possible to have a conversation at normal levels. Btw, the suspension in this car is very highway friendly. It soaks up imperfections in the road better than a lot of new cars.

      The honda accord is a luxury car,very roomy with a very fantastic engine..but it gulps alot of fuel.And in a country where the roads are bad then the honda acccord 2007 is not a good idea..that said i think the c class 2000 is a good ride as well,very reliable and dependable with very good fuel economy but not as luxurious as the honda accord 2007.
      I advice you go for the 2005 C 200 or 180 kompressor....its a better ride
