Just a public service announcement, be very careful looking at the IR illuminator directly so you don't blind your self. Just because it looks dim doesn't mean it's not frying your retinas
I'm not knocking this optic. But for IR NV to work it needs high amplification of available natural IR light (gen 3 like 60,000x) or high output IR illuminator paired with a lower gain gen 1 system. Simply put, keeping China's disregard for safety in mind the illuminator may not be Eye safe looking into the illuminator. Looking into the eyepiece would of course be safe.
I recently bought and later sold a Gen 2+ monocular for a decent price, but its limitations were apparent by barely being better than my natural night vision without IR illumination. The benefit of having two eyes to process low-light conditions and gauge distances far outweighs greater contrast between said objects. With this experience I recommed this unit for the absolute cheapest night vision rather than Gen1 units, and I recommend two bridged Soinyx Aroura Sport cameras for the cheapest bnvds which would hopefully out-perform a single Gen 2+ monocular at 2/3rds the price and weight. As for military grade nvgs, a Gen 3 PVS-14 or dtnvgs are the most expensive, but also the most viable options.
Any gen 2 isn't comparable to a gen 3. Reason being is gen is actually gen 3 and gen is actually the true 4th generation of image intensifiers. True gen 3 is light years ahead of the other designs. The production process on a modern tube is fascinating look it up :)

it wont work through glass if you have ir on the camera bouncing off the inside of the window. if you put ir lights on your bumper, it will work(as long as you can turn the ir on the goggles on/off.
I wish FatShark would give this a go. They make incredible, small, lightweight FPV goggles for drone racing. They could easily throw on a couple cameras with the IR filters removed & you would have a stereoscopic view.

@B4 freedomfighter Negative. Put the emitters above the lens, which would shorten the length, then make it come with a strap and a mount point. It's basically a smartphone with ir, so why can't it be as thick as one?
I'm with ya, usmcp. Having taken apart a couple EYEclops night vision headsets/"binoculars" it would be easy to make them much smaller. There was just so much fluff in them just to make them seem more impressive. I also don't understand why nobody has made a simple optic for the market. Smaller always cost more. Look at cellphones as they got smaller, the price went up until recently. As the tech began to have more users and manufacturers.
@B4 freedomfighter depends on what you consider expensive. You can get some good nods for $2k-$5k. When I first started looking around (about 15 years ago), the good ones like I used in the military were about $10k.
Question, could u put window tint over the IR light to make it dimmer or less noticeable from the front, or would the window tint block the IR light making these useless. Interested buyer
You could use something like a trash bag, the IR should pass, but you will lose effectiveness and anyone with NODs will see you lit up like a nightlight anyway. If you want it to be less noticable to people without NODs then just buy an IR emitter separate like a flashlight that is less visible.
In your opinion, would you rather have these or the Night fox 110r that you posted awhile back. They both seem like good options and since you've reviewed both I'd pick your brain before deciding.
I noticed the 2 you show in the video are different as far as the night vision distance, one is 100m and the other is 60m. But both links are the ones with 60m night vision on each.
Based on their designs, they really are better suited to goggle usage with a laser IR. They could easily make a monocular version though that would fit the bill well.

Congrats on getting into firearms. I was new at one time and here is some advice. (Just fyi right now prices are sky high on items across the firearm community) 1) think about your purchases long and hard. Develop a system or role for what you intend to buy. Example: if you are looking for a home defense gun then you wouldnt want to look at a hunting rifle with a high powered scope, right? It wouldnt make sense. You would want to determine your need ( I needed something for up to 15 yards that had light capability) so I went with a glock 17 9mm and put a light on it. Hunting, home defense, conceal carry...you need to figure out what you want to use that gun for before you buy. Glock 17 is an excellent home defense gun but god awful to conceal carry. It's way too big. 2) don't be afraid to buy used & stick with well known brands. Buying a used ar15 or glock ( any big name brand will do) is what I should have done when I started. To replace the parts or fix any issue that arises has become so simple. Every fix is on youtube..ANY PROBLEM YOU WILL EVER HAVE WITH A GUN SOMEONE ON THE INTERNET HAD AND SOLVED. save yourself the money. What is legal one month might not be legal next month. Dont end up a victim of these gun laws. Stay up to date on what's going on in your state. Be the gun owner the news hates, well informed and responsible. Never be the type of gun owner the liberals want you to be ( looking for trouble or always yelling that you have a gun) Anyway I hope that helped..if you ever have anymore questions just ask I know some gun guys can be snobby so I hoped I didnt come or that way. Edit: 4. Try not to believe everything you hear on youtube...theres alot of youtubers getting money to push awful products. Do your research and try to see through the BS. Theres a difference between a real product review and someone basically doing a commercial calling it a review

Stay up to date on what's going on in your state. Be the gun owner the news hates, well informed and responsible. Never be the type of gun owner the liberals want you to be ( looking for trouble or always yelling that you have a gun)
Anyway I hope that helped..if you ever have anymore questions just ask
I know some gun guys can be snobby so I hoped I didnt come or that way.
Edit:
4. Try not to believe everything you hear on youtube...theres alot of youtubers getting money to push awful products. Do your research and try to see through the BS.
Theres a difference between a real product review and someone basically doing a commercial calling it a review
F R Thanks for the response! I wouldn’t really say I am new to the firearms community. I have a few rifles and have built one. I was more so meaning that I was new to youtube the whole filming and editing. I really appreciate you being so positive to a potentially new member of the gun community.
@@ElliottDelp haha my bad man. Hope all is well during these crazy times
How about a mount for my tacticool kevlar helmet?
This is just a camera with in infrared leds. U can make a infrared lamp and use ur cell phone camera
And a big binocular body so only the user sees the screen
Can you mont these on a FAST helmet?
Why they don't make a rechargeable battery!
So A Amazon reviewer said these actually record then plays the image back??? So not real time.?.?
Yes both real time and record
They have it used on Amazon for $37
These things would turn you into a bullet magnet.
Ooooh yah
Why do you say this?
@@JW-wp3yh it's not passive night vision, they shoot out an IR light much like alot of cameras so anyone else with NV will see you like a light house.
