- This is a hard one, because I don’t want to sound like I am complaining about my life. I have a fantastic job that takes me to the most beautiful places in the world, and to be able to have a career definitely makes me a better mom. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t miss my family when I am away from them. I know I am lucky, but it’s always a challenge to find the right balance between being a mom and being a working woman.

Just seeing you interact with your kids it's obvious you're an exceptional mom and that's why they miss you so much when you're away. Take comfort in that, and know that your kids will grow up to be amazing humans like yourself.❤

I totally get it. I’m an outside salesperson, traveling the country, selling software, with a wife and family at home. I’m on the road about 150 days a year, and feel guilty about missing the little things.
My only advice I give others in similar circumstances is, when you get home, unplug from the outside world, and enjoy your family. Get up early and make them breakfast. Sit at the table and have meals together. Drive them to events. Stay involved. You can sleep on your next plane ride.

My mom is a single parent who raised me, she went to office in the morning everyday and came back at 7 p.m. in the evening because her office was far away. I think I cherished all the time when she was at home, which made me respect and value her more. It also made me and my sister much more responsible because we realized what we had was all because of our mother who worked so hard. My sister is a doctor today and I'm studying at an engineering school. Whatever we are today, is all because of her, and because I stay alone in another country, there are days that I just want to be with them but I know whatever my mother is doing for me till date, not even a father could've done that. This keeps me going everyday and I'm just so thankful for her. It's really not easy to put your kids through college with expensive fees and all, but I'm just so thankful and motivated to become her support, and for sure one day I will give her everything that she had to sacrifice for me and my sister growing up.

I hope you will succeed in your education and job. I also wish you will be reunited a.s.ap. . I have the best parents ever! But we lost out father about 3 years ago. So I also know time is precious. But you are maybe young still. So I hope you also find time to enjoy life and celebrate it, off cource after this pandemic. Thumbs up to you and your family!

what about fathers?
As a mom of two, i feel the same. I chose to be a stay-at-home mom until they go to primary school. It is absolutely my own choice and i am thankful i am able to be there for them. That being said, i do get a lot of heat about that. A lot of people roll their eyes at me when i tell them that i am a fulltime mom. And that makes me feel like what im doing (being a mother), is not enough.
don't listen to them you are more than enough remember that, also you are giving your children the best gift which is your time and your attention . you are amazing!!!!
We are growing up in an everyday more selfish society. I do not like children that much, but I don't go my way spreading hate to the ones who have kids, instead I totally admire the fact that there are people who actually have kids because they want to and are devoting themselves to raise their children with love, our future need good citizens, good people who can give others love and that's why mommies are so important!

Doutzen I totally relate to this. Every time I have to leave them for an early morning flight to our manufacturing plant, it breaks my heart into a million pieces. No matter how much of a professional we maybe, the guilt of leaving your children for work never goes away. And now in the wake of corona virus, so torn about leaving them in the daycare . Much love to you , you are a good mom. 🤗
Doutzen is so genuine, kind, and loving. You just know how amazing and loving of a mother she is, and obviously, she loves being a mother and is her priority.

Doutzen, my daughters are now in their 20’s but when they were young I traveled to sing and speak and was away from my family for a week sometimes two weeks. Everything you just said is EVERYTHING I felt at that time. Thank you for sharing your vulnerable side. I know this will help other moms too! ❤️
You're truly so beautiful from the inside and the outside, and you really inspire me to be grateful and to not take things for granted. From what I see, you're a great role model for your children and if I ever, hopefully, become a mom, this is what I want. Taking time for myself to, in the end, become a better person and mom to my children. Loved this video, but really missed the extra bit in the end haha!

Being away from your kids is actually so important FOR THEM! It creates strength, independence & growth. This is actually a GOOD thing..do not underestimate the growth that is occurring❤️I know your job has you away more than other moms but as you mentioned, you recognize it’s actually a great energy renewal on return to motherhood😘

I think you are incredibly lucky, not because you are a model and travel to great places, but because the time spent away from your kids because of your travels probably contributes hugely to the way you live life to the fullest with them and make every second with them count. Living in the moment is an amazing gift, that many take for granted. Because you spend more time than most away from them, you live the moments you are with them with much more purpose. And that, Doutzen, is a blessing to them that you won't be able to measure now. But in years to come, I know they will look back fondly on the amazing times you spent together. Much love. xoxo
Doutzen it is so normal to be such emotional😭when you are far from your family and especially your kids but as we see Sunnery he is such a wonderful dad to them as a husband to you and even if your work needs you to get on a plane ✈️ far for a shooting for a few days it’s your business you’re way of making money but what I love❤️about you is that you are an authentic human being that doesn’t mind showing her emotions and that is the best role of your life being a mom that is counting the days that are left to go back and see you’re family in Amsterdam kisses to all 4 of you xoxo 😘
Relationship we have with our family impacts our lives so greatly. I have a great relationship with both my parents but my Mum is so special to me. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis last year which means I can lose her earlier then I expected and this make me cherish every single moment we spend together ❤️

Doutzen het is al zwaar genoeg en maak het jezelf niet nog zwaarder.
Je doet het super goed met een baan die vaak veel van je eist ! Ik doe alles alleen met mijn meisje en eerst voelde ik me super schuldig dat ik zo vaak weg was om te werken. Ik ben daarna een poosje thuis geleven, daarna merkt ik weer dat ik te weinig tijd voor mezelf had.
Het komt wel goed geniet van alle momenten samen maar ook van af en toe rust voor jezelf ❤

There is no life handbook and there are no experts on how to balance our work, home, and social life. I can see when you are with your family enjoying the magical moments, you are always present with them. And you have and will have millions of wonderful moments and memories that will last a lifetime. With our jobs, we change courses throughout our lifetime, you will evolve and change but your family, they will always be there, supporting you no matter what. That is unconditional love. And no you don't sound like you are complaining at all, it is natural to feel disconnected from your children and husband, especially when you travel a lot and are apart from them. You feel as if you are missing those moments. Thank you for sharing your private thoughts and emotions. I truly felt your pain, even though I don't have kids, it reminded me to ensure that I too take the time to enjoy the precious moments with my family members.

Ik mis mijn kinderen vreselijk als ze bij de vader zijn en heb nog steeds regelmatig schuld gevoel dat ik soms echt tijd voor mezelf neem als ze niet bij me zijn. Zelfs als ik weet dat ik binnen 10 minuten bij ze kan zijn omdat we in dezelfde stad wonen. Als ik je vlog zie krijg ik echt tranen in mijn ogen. . Soms als ik moe ben na mijn werk droom ik van mensen om me heen die mijn haar doen of make up net als bij jou. Ik droom weleens ook van de kleding die je draagt en om mensen te ontmoeten die jij dankzij je werk ontmoet ( Eddie Stern bijvoorbeeld) . Dankzij deze video zie ik dat je vooral een prachtige vrouw, moeder ,dochter,zus bent. Dat mode wereld is er natuurlijk ook.Maar alles begint met een mooi mens die jij bent. Liefs xxx

Lieve doutzen, ik voel je helemaal! Het moment dat je denkt, wat zou me time heerlijk zijn , je vervolgens daar dan weer schuldig om voelt , en als je eenmaal me time hebt , wil je gelijk weer terug omdat je het gevoel hebt dat als je zonder ze bent dat je een stukje van jezelf kwijt bent . Zo dubbel, en rot . Maybe that sounds weird, but whenever I see your goodbye or welcome back kiss with Sunnery, the love between you is visible.
