The second bass I ever owned was an SR305, exactly like the one you have, same finish and everything. It broke my heart when I had to sell it, but I remember it very fondly. Learned so much with it 🖤
I think I used to message you on Instagram years ago, always thought you were kind hearted and wise beyond years! I think your relationship with bass is unique and entertaining, you can tell you have a love for the instrument and bass can definitely be a lead instrument! You play from the heart and it shows. Keep on keeping on
Time I went back to the gym - as a six-foot bloke with just two basses to choose from, for playing live it's the lightest I go for every time! Thanks for sharing and a HNY....
Hi cici, Greetings from California 🇺🇸. Dave Simpson sent me. You have a fantastic collection of gear. Keep up the great work. I'm looking forward to hearing you play more.
Cici - I have owned several basses over the years but the best, by far was the Westone Thunder 3 A. It is a vintage Japanese bass from the famous Matsomoku factory. I had the fretless version but there is a fretted version on eBay at the moment. Every tone you’ll ever want or need and low bottoms to blow the window panes out. A tad heavy and not a bass you could do a longish gig with. If you ever get the chance buy one or try one out you defo should!
I have a Fender American Performer Mustang Bass in my collection. I absolutely love it. I think every bass player needs a short scale in their collection.
Wonderful collection Cici, the bond you have with those beautiful instruments shines through. Your little fur monster is wonderful too, my gang of cats would approve. Happy new year to you, Dave and everyone else, I wish nothing but the best for you all.
Being a Catman, Maynard made the video. :) Thanks for sharing. Happy New Year Cici, Dave, John Joe and everyone watching! The wood on you custom bass looks a bit like an early Wal bass. Not the shape just the 2 tone wood it is a beauty.
Our bass player has an Ibanez ATK in sunburst, and it's his main work horse. It's like a Sting Ray on steroids, that thing! It's got so much punch right out of the pickup that he really only ever uses the front-most coil. It still raunches up the signal... Great instruments! He also has an Ashdown 4 x 10 cab, a manufacturer with whom I suspect you are familiar. He also has an Ampeg 1 x 15 cab of the Classic series, but that only sees use when he plays in the orchestra pit on theatre productions. His amp is a 200 watt all-valve Orange. Oh, and happy new year to you both.
Sick as, My start to bass (4 years verging on 5 still not the best player but I always love to improve) but anyways my start was due to another 90s early 2000s bass player, and Ibanez, I started learning because of fieldy from korn, I don’t get my tone from him but those vids of him just playing made me want to pick up bass (I started on a 5 string) your view of music has actually helped my songwriting so much, thanks cici for being an inspiration
Great video Queenie! I'm kinda new to your channel, but am a fan. You are an exceptional bass player and musician. Also love how wholesome and friendly you seem to be. Wish I lived in England so I could catch you gigging. If you and Dave ever come to the US let me know. Keep up the good work, you're awesome!
The Fender VI was an attempt by Fender to take some of Danelectro tik tak bass. That was a 6 string bass that was used to double upright bass lines. The Fender VI arrived too late as Nashville finally accepted using the P-bass instead of the upright bass and the tik tak bass. One musician vs. two. John Sebastian was the only person who actually played the Fender VI like a guitar. Everybody else used it as a bass. It suxs as a guitar since the strings are so close to each other and so thick.
Those old Ibanez basses are cool. I got really obsessed with those because of The Police. I also have that SR300, or mine is the DX one. I'm not really sure what the difference is, but mine has PJ pickups. It was a dirt cheap bass that I bought just because I needed a bass for a project I was doing and didn't own one, since I normally play guitar. I freakin love that thing. It has a really thin fast neck and it's super light and comfortable. With an upgrade of the active pickups, I could actually get a pretty good sound out of it too. I still play it, even while I have more expensive basses around.
Oh yes, I wanted a fretless bass purely because of Sting playing one of those. Nice! Ah, a 'characterful' cat. I know the pain. Ours is called Philby and he is a stray who basically adopted us. Love your collection. Speaking of fretless basses, my last one was a black Yamaha BB400s from either the late '70s or early '80s. Very very nice and worth grabbing if you can find one. Happy NEw YEar!
I guess this was suggested to me cause I watch a lot of Ola England etc.But I'm glad it did...Love this channel and your band!!! Awesome! Thanks for the great music and content CiCi.🤘😎👍
Happy New Year Cici! I bought the Ibanez acoustic bass after seeing your first review of it and I am still absolutely in love with it! It was great to see a guest appearance from Maynard 🐱
Your perfect rude and rasta bass on the Clash video sent me here. I watched all of those "Sound Like" vids and in that one you startled me, that's a style you can only do right if you love it! If you play ska/Oi/reggae I'd love to hear it, cus that was spot on!!
Wow, just seen this - you are very high on the obsessional spectrum, keep it up! I thought I was nutty about guitars but now have permission to press on to newer hights of music madness. A breath of fresh air - may the grey suits all disappear soon! I'm inspired!!!
Cool video and BAD KITTY! LOL I got a used Samick electric/acoustic bass at a local shop. I put on a set of Thomastik-Infeld Acousticore strings. They were a tad pricey. But, sooooo worth it. They sound absolutely beautiful. I am beginning down the long road of learning Jazz Theory. I haven't even touched my Ambient guitar rigs or my Metal/Blues set up since I got it on Monday. LOL I'm addicted to it.
Hi Cici, I am a guitarist, but I love bass guitars. This collection is amazing, and the amps around them are incredible. One thing I would like to ask you, have you ever heard of Ellen Alaverdyan? Ellen, born to Armenian parents is a 10-year-old bass player. Her dad has taught his daughter how to play bass guitar. Initially, Ellen thought bass guitars were guitars with 4 strings, this was when she was 9. Now Ellen plays regular sized basses, long and short scale basses. Ellen who lives in Las Vegas is now a youtuber. Cici, I think you would like Ellen.
Cheers - what a marvelous collection. I especially love the old Ibanezes (Roadstar & Musician). Have always loved the looks of those and wanted one but never got one. Best wishes in your creative pursuits.
I own an early 80's Ibanez Roadster fretless with a maple body, maple neck, maple board, active circutry, 2 single bar pickups, open gear tuners, it weighs an absolute tonne Made in Japan of course From what Ive been able to find out it's quite a rare beast
Kitty makes video better 🐈⬛👍. That’s quite a collection. I don’t know anything about bass guitars 🎸 but I think they are kewl. I really liked the Schecter 💖. I was surprised that you don’t have a Fender bass of one sort or another. My favorite was your Fender Strat burst. That’s a keeper. I’m a Fender Strat freak so of course I would love 💗 that. Thanks for sharing and Happy NewYear 🎆🎊🍾🥂.
I would be happy with the Ibanez roadster and the fretless, that's a thing of beauty. Looks super solid and screams quality. It's gonna outlast us all. And I like Also The Trees.
If you can find a Heartfield DR/DC somewhere I think you might like it - it's the spiritual forerunner of the Soundgear line, much like the Starfield guitars/basses are the spiritual forerunners of j custom, ATK, and Talman lines. I have a Heartfield DR 5 that was converted to fretless (before I got it) and I love the way it feels. I have a pair of Starfield Altair Customs and narrowly missed two of their Cabriolet basses some time ago (the basses probably won't come back up for sale, at least not at the absurdly low price points they were). The Heartfield basses have neck-through models, but they're always at a premium price for being a lesser known short lived brand. Heartfield: Short term collaboration between Fender and Fujigen to make fast(er looking) instruments for Fender. Reasoning was they wanted a piece of the emergent high performance markets being created by companies like Jackson and Ibanez but wanted to distance from their traditional instrument lines to protect them. The bass I have predates Soundgear but was clearly built on the benches/luthiers that would support those models when they arrived shortly after. Starfield: Collaboration between Hoshino and Mike Lipe (RIP), setting up what would become Ibanez LACS in the US and on the soon to be j custom benches in JPN at Fujigen. I have two of their JPN built Altair SJ Customs that predate j custom but clearly utilize the literally exact heel design still used on them today along with Mike Lipe body styles that are traditional in feel but somehow look and play just a little better than your typical SSS - and the sustain/harmonic richness is crazy among my strat-like guitars. Anyhow. Yeah, from what instruments you have, you would love both the Heartfield and Starfield basses, 100%, and they can be had for cheap and if you can find any they'll feel real familiar to you. I got my bass and two guitars for under 500 USD each, in amazing condition/fretless upgrade - again the exception will be the through neck Heartfield basses, they go for significantly more but it's usually less than 2kUSD so it's not *that* oppressive if you really want one. Apologies for length - I am an enthusiast of a few things and one of them ended up being JPN built instruments, when I finally had enough stuff to call it a "collection" lol I also have a bunch of older Peavey basses and guitars. It just ended up that way, so that's what I'm informed about.
Some absolute killer basses, love the fretless Ibanez Musician and the Paul Grey tribute as well, a friend of mine has the same ATK since he's a big Slipknot fan as well. I'm also insanely jealous that you have an Iceman as well, I've loved System of a Down for such a long time and I fell in love with that guitar because of Daron Malakian's use of them. Great collection, Cici, happy late new year from Canada and here's to more great content with both Anderton's and your solo channel
Really enjoyed seeing all of your basses. My collection is just starting... I do have 2 Ibanezs, which I really like. I do think you should weigh your basses, rather than saying heavy or light. I weigh my basses (and other people's basses...) and so far the Ibanez are the lightest. Thanks!
Very impressive basses and their neck designs .. love them inlays on some. Owner of my own Schecter C6 Damien fr/special guitar , ❤️ your Schecter Bass the most .. Happy New Year’s 🥳
Still have a rather large collection, and love people talking about their collection. Yes… every guitar or bass has a story… Not one is the same.. even when they are all own brand… But my question comes from a different angle… i can’t help but notice your name being CICI and all your Batik? Are you originally from Indonesian parents? Sorry.. personal question I guess… anyone keep doing your great work and i hope your own channel will explode. Missed you at Anderson’s though. What’s going on with that? You gonna be back there? All the best and hope both our stuff will go wild in 2023.. Cheers CICI Bass!!!
Great video and bass collection Cici!! “T-1 meowsand 😂😂👏👏👏 typical bass player 😁🤘 I had a 5er ARK just like the one you have I did since sell it for my NG3 I do not regret it I love my Dingwall so much!! Great collection !!
Your collection is great being a small person playing huge basses I can relate with you I tried half size and three quarters size basses and just could never get the right tone though I do love a fender bronco bass I also love Ibanez basses though I've been rocking a thunder bird and peavey basses lately talk about a bass that fights you every note almost not worth the trouble but they sound so great my cat also thinks he owns all my gear
Hell yeah an Iceman is definitely gonna be my next bass purchase hell probably my next guitar purchase as well or maybe a fireman lol I got a Harley Benton guitarbass vi that's heavily modified as well I'm equally a guitar player as a bass player I'm one of those guys that learned bass cause everyone else plays guitar so playing bass well got me into bands
Cool collection there, some great basses and guitars you have.. What strings do you use on the piccolo bass. Your missing bass ukulele aka ubass both an acoustic and solid body versions. get these and your collection will be complete
Have you ever tried any of the Ibanez fan fret basses? Absolutely love the Paul Gray bass, a bass I owned many years ago was the Aria Pro II SB Black 'n' Gold, then I sold it... still crying to this day haha
Amazing collection and really enjoyed the tour! :) How are you getting on with that glossy fretboard on the new Sire? I feel like on stage there could be a major glare issue with lighting reflection etc. Need to see my positions in a pinch sometimes and feel like that could literally be blinding to know where you are at when possibly needed. I love Sire's but looking at those models and that could definitely be a deal breaker unfortunately. Maybe i am blowing that out of proportion. Thoughts?
Idk if you're familiar with TTNG, but the current bassist/singer uses his own made bass vi really creatively. Should definitely check them out if you haven't listened before. Their audiotree session is great
The cash converters around you sound way better than ours. Ours always seem to have like Rockwood Strat copies for way more than they're worth or Gibsons for WAAAAAAYYYY more than they're worth.
Oddly enough, I have a very similar sized collection with a bias on the Ibanez basses. I have a roadster (1980) and a studio (1980) with a couple of talmans thrown in (one being a five string). I did have a few other Ibanez that I got rid of, specifically the soundgear type. I prefer Fender basses these days, they don't break my back to gig with 😆
I love my Ibanez Musician Fretless. Also got it for a ridiculous price regarding its value. Love the fact that you 'absolutely love' every one of your instruments! :) Happy New Year
Every bass: "I absolutely love this bass. It's one of my favorites"
So cool that you have so many basses that you love.
Who cares how many musical instruments anyone has, if it makes you happy have as many as you like, great video, and a lovely person 👍
I agree :) Thank you so much, I’m really glad you enjoyed it :)
Exactly. I am looking forward to get a 5 String Stingray. Can´t wait. I dig those Ibanez she has aswell. Maybe i get one of those too.
You have an amazing air about you. Thanks for taking the time. Cheers from Boston!

I used to have a bunch of guitars, but not anymore. I just can't play them all, and they aren't meant to sit around.
Forget the definition of a bunch. More or less than 50?
@@johnpanchuk9993 about 35 to 40.
The higher number was fairly brief. Maybe a few months. I've got 3 now. That's all I need.
I'm buying more guitars this year
There is that Danelectro I’m looking at….. *temptation🤤*
@Book Davies you older or millennial?
So jealous of that fretless Ibanez Musician! What a gorgeous instrument! Also your cat is adorable, reminds me of my little goon. Great collection!
It's a complete beauty,and I'm not even a fretless bass guy.
Wild Lobster found!
The goon
Oh yeah, definitely
It’s a bit ridiculous isn’t it!! Thanks so much :) Aww, I love cats!
Keep on keeping on
Best Regards and Best Wishes to you and Dave for 2023!
Time I went back to the gym - as a six-foot bloke with just two basses to choose from, for playing live it's the lightest I go for every time! Thanks for sharing and a HNY....
Those Ibanez Musicians are gems.
Hi cici,
Greetings from California 🇺🇸. Dave Simpson sent me. You have a fantastic collection of gear. Keep up the great work. I'm looking forward to hearing you play more.
Hey Tom! Thank you so much, really happy to have you around, thanks for taking the time! :)
My 10 year old son watches your videos with me and he asked me to tell you "More Maynard please".
Haha brilliant!!
@@CiciVonStrangelove Maynard is probably my favourite vocalist but when you said "T-1-meows-and" I literally lol'd 😆
I love that Ibanez stunning, your dad did you good with that scratch plate 🔥🔥👌🏽love the 79 roadstar 👌🏽
Happy new years to you, D, your mom and the fam. I’m the designated daughter driver so get to see her friends too! John in Vancouver
Happy New Year to you and your family John xxx
Thanks for sharing your guitar & and bass family. That was really neat.

Being a Catman, Maynard made the video. :) Thanks for sharing. Happy New Year Cici, Dave, John Joe and everyone watching! The wood on you custom bass looks a bit like an early Wal bass. Not the shape just the 2 tone wood it is a beauty.
Literally just getting back from watching Paul gray videos, isolated bass tracks, documentaries, slipknot stuff…… so…. Thanks! I had no idea.
Have a great 2023 CiCi!

Happy New Year CiCi. I hope this New year finds you and your channel doubling in prosperity. Cheers!!!
Lovely video. This has inspired me to no longer consider that owning 6 basses is far too many.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it James, thank you so much :) Hahaha I’m happy to hear that!!

Feliz Año Nuevo Cici!
Happy new Year
Great video and bass collection Cici!!
Happy New Year Cici. Looks like ur feeling better and that’s a good thing.
Happy New Year!
You plus your room is psychedelic Cici!
Haha thank you very much!! :)
Great collection Cici, that looks awesome 😀🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸
Hell yeah an Iceman is definitely gonna be my next bass purchase hell probably my next guitar purchase as well or maybe a fireman lol I got a Harley Benton guitarbass vi that's heavily modified as well I'm equally a guitar player as a bass player I'm one of those guys that learned bass cause everyone else plays guitar so playing bass well got me into bands
Happy new year from France, Bass Girl! 🎆🎆🎊🎊🎉🎉✔✔👏👏🐓🐓
5:07- Very definite Simpson reflection in the Paul Gray bass.
Looked into Jet Guitars and was bummed to learn they're very difficult to get in the US. They seem like an excellent value.
Happy New year Cici and get it Ricken Backer
Cool collection there, some great basses and guitars you have.. What strings do you use on the piccolo bass.
Your missing bass ukulele aka ubass both an acoustic and solid body versions. get these and your collection will be complete
Have you ever tried any of the Ibanez fan fret basses? Absolutely love the Paul Gray bass, a bass I owned many years ago was the Aria Pro II SB Black 'n' Gold, then I sold it... still crying to this day haha
I'm thinking about trying a Bass out. I play Guitar so might take to bass quite easy.
Wow!!!! Awesome!
Also, happy new year!
I can second the js300 being an amazing guitar I got it in blue for Christmas
Awesome! Congratulations and enjoy :)
@@CiciVonStrangelove honestly I love when you are Dave are making content together it’s the best
Just fisnished watching Dave's guitar collection video so now it is your turn lol! the Schecter is by far my favorite one in your collection!
Haha awesome!! Hope you enjoy :) have a great new year!
@@CiciVonStrangelove You have a great new year as well! keep rocking and making video's!
Happy new year! Great collection.
Thoughts?
Being an Ibanez freak myself I’m drooling lol. I think a vintage roadster will be my next purchase!
Mine is for sale!
Idk if you're familiar with TTNG, but the current bassist/singer uses his own made bass vi really creatively. Should definitely check them out if you haven't listened before. Their audiotree session is great
Happy New Year to you and Dave and Jonjo. Great collection. Ibanez do make very good bass guitars but that Schecter is fab!
I remember you used to have cool Epi T-Bird as well some time ago . Is it gone?
That Sire green bass looks amazing
I think those are fugly but that's why we all like different things and life is more interesting.
:) Happy New Year
Awesome!! Congratulations on that too :) Haha of course, they’re all amazing in their own ways
