    Thanks as always. I'm getting closer to my IR checkride and feeling better after each video.

      Good luck. I've been ready for mine for *months*! but there are no DPEs in this area and I don't have any time off from work to travel to where there are any. Curious: where are you? I'm training at KOPF in Miami.

      The announcer committed an error when he said one oh nine. It must be said one ZERO nine This mispronunciation of numbers, mixed up with letters , can cause much harm and confusion to the man in the cockpit…..A zero is a number, whilst an o is a letter of the alphabet

      I believe you meant: one zero niner

    I'm a strong fan of setting everything up before starting a briefing. The simple reason being is that the briefing is not only for you. It's for your copilot as well and if it takes you 5mins to brief something you already lost your copilot 4 minutes ago.

    My general intent for making my approach request is to get the weather before my last handoff (if possible) and then when I get handed off, give the full spiel: "XXX approach, N12345 7000 with information Z, request RNAV 2 into ZZZ". Sometimes this is not possible. For example on the southwest side of CLT, I get handed off well before I can hear the weather at JQF, on the northeast side of that bravo. And then other times, I fail to get the weather before the handoff.
    Based on how I hear pilots of a King Air, Pilatus, or TBM announce, I just assumed this is the "professional" way to do it. And when I announce "Cherokee N12345" and don't do that, I feel like the entire frequency is muttering "N00B" under their breath.

    perfect sense. Im one of those who bug my coms and navs before I take off . I like to go brief my approach plate and get as ready as much as possible so I don't have to do it in the air.

    At what point are you changing the CDI from GPS to VLOC?

    • @codymoser4389
      @codymoser4389 11 місяців тому

      You would change your CDI from GPS to LOC 109.3 when you are nearing BAILI. You can use the 080 radial from ENE (34.4 Nm) to fly towards BAILI. ATC can vector (give) you headings, then they will tell you cleared for 1R, with alt and heading, and Once you are established, this means the CDI (set to LOC 109.3) needle centers. You can then descend down to 1700 by CARMR with your heading being 012 your final approach course.

    Can I give you a suggestion? For what it’s worth… I love your videos and use them in the AF. You make sloppy clicking mouth noises. It may be your mic… It may be you… But a little honey lemon tea will help.
