Don't believe bullsh..t from mass media. Another great depression is coming. US leaders intend to ignite war all over the World but not in USA territory. They made a lot of money in 40-s. They believe it could happen again... Don't believe them, don't permit them. Peace 🙏.

What a great amp and video! I bought one about 10 years ago, an early-90s model with the lead master control and graphic EQ. I used it to play clubs in London for several years and it was brilliant. It will also do the high gain Metallica / John Petrucci tones quite convincingly too.
You really managed to capture some tones reminiscent of classic Jimmy Page with the Les Paul Custom on the middle pickup setting. I've always wanted a Boogie ever since the first time I played through on in 1982. Unfortunately, I failed to get the planets to align in order to get one, but a great demo as always, Johan!
I always liked this amp. I had the opportunity to play one in a music store when I was a teenager, but at the time couldn't afford to buy it. You're getting some very good tones from it, once again I really like the sound with the Telecaster. All the guitars sound good with this amp!
I had one and played many years with it with a tele and a Charvel. At a certain moment I was done with the Mesa sound and went for Fender amps for clean sounds and Marshall for dirty. Although the sound from Johans amp is good, specially with the SG, this clip convinced me that I made the right choice.
Sounds great Johan! I always wanted one of these when I was a kid and these were new. I ended up with a Mesa Boogie Subway Blues several years later, but I never really connected with that amp. Cheers!
I think the preamp circuit is similar to the Mesa/Boogie Studio Preamp that I own. Although this latter one is more flexible, with its added EQ section and switches, present in the Studio .22+. It's a good series! But you really need to read the manual to get the most out of it.
I've had one since 2018 and I've used it in hundreds of shows and it sounds wonderful with my Les Paul and my Strat and some analog pedals, I play classic rock
Not a fan of this sound compared to everything else on the channel ha, sounds thin! Sounded a bit better as the video went on though, Love the riff at 2:20!
I bought one for a really low price a few months back. Great amp for rock tones. In my opinion you need to swap some preamp tubes to have a bit less gain and more range with the overdrive. I use it with my Captor X, it records very well indeed.
I have '89 22+ with 5 band eq. Great little amp. It took me some time to dial it in, but once i did, the cleans are really nice. I put an eminence red white and blues in it to cut the mids and beef up the bottom.
Ever tried a Mesa Boogie Maverick? Not like usual Mesa amps but i think you'd love it. I picked up one recently at a price that was too good to refuse and i'm so impressed with it
Congrats! Again, great demo Johan! My impressions: The Les Paul Custom sounded very similar to the Tele. Did you have the same impression while playing? The SG Special and the Tele sounded quite good with this amp. I missed the Strat btw. Any chance that you do a demo of this amp with a Strat as well?
I'm not necessarily a fanboy, but I've picked up three Mesas over the years because they were used and miraculously cheap. This was one of them, but it has the old problem where the sound fades when it gets hot. Beware if you find one used. I recognize the midrange accent of this amp in the video. I guess this was on Nirvana albums? I prefer my F-30 of all the Boogies I've had (the other one was a Mark II). I'm not a metal guy. I just go for Fender tones. Like I said, they found me!
Very good Johan, carries a lot of low end for what it is. Les Paul sounds really good here. Small amp would be nice for small gigs. I would buy one of these.
Is it Really a "Class A" output stage ? I know there were a number of versions but the schematics I've seen show a Phase Inverter (i.e. Class AB). Nice sound either way.
The presence of a phase inverter and a push-pull configuration (which this amp most definitely has got) doesn't rule out class A at all. On the other hand a clean output of 22 watts from a pair of EL84s pretty much does rule out true class A operation. On the third hand these do run scorching hot; I have a 50 Caliber (same amp pretty much, but four EL84s) and the board to which the tube sockets are mounted directly is literally scorched from their heat, which does again point to class A. Maybe it shifts from class A to class AB as you increase the signal, like an AC30.
I've watched many of your videos and like them alot! But i never could connect with a Mesa Boogie amp except for the Heartbreaker. One your best was the Peavey vtx, killer amp, I've played many gigs with one and have many Peavey amps. If you ever get a chance try a Vox Viscount from 1966. Unreal tone with the Goldog speakers. Just my opinion..
I've seen you demo hundreds of amps and this is the first one where I felt your playing didn't flatter the amp. I am totally blaming the amp. Keep up the good work.
I see you didn't engage the lead mode. To be fair it is not easy to figure out unless you read the manual through; you need to short the contacts on the footswitch jack to activate it. But beware as I don't think it sounds or feels as good as the basic clean/crunch mode. Which sounds quite unique for a Boogie I think, the Mark series don't really do this kind of sound easily.
It makes me wonder how you can afford all these beautiful amps. You must have a really good job or are independently wealthy. Anyways I enjoy the videos man 👍
Yes, into a Marshall 4 x 12 loaded with G12T-75s. I have the .50 Caliber with that Marshall cab, had from new in the late 80s. I also have a Boss DS1 and it NAILS the Nevermind Tone 100%
you should try a Laney aor 1x12 30w, just as nice tone wise real sweeeeet same era amp lots of different tones just like mesa but way cheaper money wise and a real bargain built like a tank solid British and very tweakable
Mesa Boogie amps are denied access in my repair shop. They may sound great, but holy mother what a service nightmare from hell! I almost vomit each time I see one of those "Triple Rectumfire Amps". At their R&D meetings they probably discuss if there is any room left to squeeze in some more unneccesary components to increase the fault rate.
Hi there...i bought this amp after a lifetime of dreaming a Mesa 😅...this was the only one i could afford...i like it a lot❤...but few days ago i saw a video from a techinician of a Mesa studio22 repair...he said a lot of very bad thinghs on this amp, like, it's a mess to repair, is really bad made, very low quality and so on...and people who commented totally agreed with him..😮 one even wrote that this amp was pure crap, very dangerous, and ready to catch fire !!!😮 OMG...are we studio 22 lovers all idiots?😅 Where's the Truth? Wasn't Mesa boogies solid as a rock? I'm so disappointed and a bit scared too😅😢...what do you think?😊
Unfortunately it’s true, Mesa’s aren’t particularly well built / designed amps. Particularly the more modern ones. Any competent tech will echo this. They often need a lot more maintenance and up keep and so can be expensive to keep running. If you like how they sound, go for it but just be aware they will require pretty expensive maintenance. The .22 model is one of their most bare-bones designs which makes things easier, but they still suffer the same design flaws all Mesa amps have since they began.
I thought of Johan as soon as I heard Sweden warning their citizens of possible war with Russia. Stay safe my friend you’re in my prayers 🙏
Thanks my friend!
With a long wall of Marshall stacks,
No army shall never attack.

Thanks! Glad to hear it
Great video!

Aloha Johan! I still remember when I first heard of Mesa Boogie. The wooden Mark 1 combos looked so nice. Mesa really started something.
Aloha Victor! They did indeed
The placement of the Carlsberg can is definitely having an effect haha cheers.
Great riffage as always! Really shows what this beast is capable of. God bless and rock on brother 👍😎🎸
the sock speaker is one of the most underrated
Another superb demonstration . . . . Thanks for sharing your knowledge :-)
I always liked this amp. I had the opportunity to play one in a music store when I was a teenager, but at the time couldn't afford to buy it. You're getting some very good tones from it, once again I really like the sound with the Telecaster. All the guitars sound good with this amp!

Thanks glad you like it! Cheers!
I had a subway as well. Could never dial in a sound I liked, and gave up a great bass for it. That 22 sounds far better.
I think the preamp circuit is similar to the Mesa/Boogie Studio Preamp that I own. Although this latter one is more flexible, with its added EQ section and switches, present in the Studio .22+. It's a good series! But you really need to read the manual to get the most out of it.
You’re right. I have both and the preamp is a bit more flexible because it has the pull out functions like the Mark series do.
I've had one since 2018 and I've used it in hundreds of shows and it sounds wonderful with my Les Paul and my Strat and some analog pedals, I play classic rock
Hi, Johan!
MB is so good, that nothing to say about: I love their sound very much! See you!
S.
Not a fan of this sound compared to everything else on the channel ha, sounds thin! Sounded a bit better as the video went on though,
Love the riff at 2:20!
Thanks I’m switching between close sound, room sound and hallway sound a couple of times and the latter are thinner sounding of course
Those black shadow elements are super nice. We have a 2x12 with a celestion and EV Black shadows, and together they're really great.
I bought one for a really low price a few months back. Great amp for rock tones. In my opinion you need to swap some preamp tubes to have a bit less gain and more range with the overdrive. I use it with my Captor X, it records very well indeed.
I have one of these amps, but it is in storage and I haven’t played it in years. I do remember changing out some preamp valves to get more headroom.
Have the 22 plus version of this one, it’s killer for its size
Sounds so good Johan 🤘!!
I have '89 22+ with 5 band eq. Great little amp. It took me some time to dial it in, but once i did, the cleans are really nice. I put an eminence red white and blues in it to cut the mids and beef up the bottom.
Sounded fantastic! Great tones from the LP Custom. I don’t think I’ve seen that guitar before?
Thanks Eddie! No I’m buying that one from Simons shop Musikbörsen right now basically 😁 Amazing guitar
Ever tried a Mesa Boogie Maverick? Not like usual Mesa amps but i think you'd love it. I picked up one recently at a price that was too good to refuse and i'm so impressed with it
Congrats! Again, great demo Johan!
My impressions:
The Les Paul Custom sounded very similar to the Tele. Did you have the same impression while playing?
The SG Special and the Tele sounded quite good with this amp.
I missed the Strat btw. Any chance that you do a demo of this amp with a Strat as well?
Thanks, yeah LP custom using both pickups is really Tele sounding
I'm not necessarily a fanboy, but I've picked up three Mesas over the years because they were used and miraculously cheap. Loving that small can of Carlsberg too!
Man you really like those sg specials with the p90s
If I ever got an sg, it would be p90.
Love your work! Be great to see a ST20H vs JTM45 comparison
I had a mesa that sounded harsh and scoopy like this one.
Fantastic Zeppelin sound. I can’t find its schematic, I see only EQ version. Do you have it?
As others have said…P90s for the win.
I have the preamp version of this, but it needs repair & I miss it.
Is this speaker an EV M12L equivalent?
Very nice mvh Roy
My friend Khaled has 1 of these, it screams! \m/ SO does this 1!
I still can't figure out how to use my markii b happy Friday! Cheers mate

Bright little amp.
I always wondered about that amp.
And the SG Special wins yet again! Is there one (1) amp that sounds bad with this guitar???
Thanks! I doubt that 😆
is it normal for this amp to run hot within a few minutes? ty
The p90 sg is THE one
It is indeed Glenn, cheers!
I've watched many of your videos and like them alot! But i never could connect with a Mesa Boogie amp except for the Heartbreaker.

Thanks, I guess
Did you not have the foot switch? Everything in the video sounds like the low gain channel.
Great demo Johan, but yeah those Mesa’s are just a little too thin sounding for my ear. I own one, but it doesn’t get much playing time. Marshall……
I see you didn't engage the lead mode. To be fair it is not easy to figure out unless you read the manual through; you need to short the contacts on the footswitch jack to activate it. The S.O.B. Son of Boogie, series are my favorite Mesa amps. Real sleepers. Try one if you get the chance.
I will indeed
What about the 70s Mesa's like the mark I? Keith Richards and Carlos Santana are famous for using them.
That’s the pre-amp that Kurt Cobain was running into his Crown power amp in the Nevermind era
Cool did he use that on the album?
@@JohanSegebornI believe so, along with others such as a Bassman and an AC30
I hear it was for In Utero.
Something about having literally any amp at your disposal and using a little studio amp to record the followup.
Yes, into a Marshall 4 x 12 loaded with G12T-75s. I have the .50 Caliber with that Marshall cab, had from new in the late 80s. I also have a Boss DS1 and it NAILS the Nevermind Tone 100%
Mega Scoopie not amps I like but the playing here is fantastic. If only there were some other old amps that sound more like Traynors!
Fine demon! I like mess/boogie amps but they’re too expensive 💸💸💸
Algo😊
Not sure I follow
you should try a Laney aor 1x12 30w, just as nice tone wise real sweeeeet
same era amp lots of different tones just like mesa but way cheaper
money wise and a real bargain built like a tank solid British and very tweakable
Maybe it was the Beer(s).., but U forgot to Dime the GAIN !!?!! \m/
Hahaha! It probably was 😂

it sound like a high gain version of an old 60s fender amp
I had a blonde one! Finally died about ten years ago.
I think this guy should put the hours in .before he demo a mesa
cant play ... always guys with rooms full of gear that cant play. Searching for that tone, learning music? No way.
