My dad traded in a 77 with the hydra electric system and it worked perfect. This was in the 2000's. It was a pleasure to operate when you never usually see one intact.

Hard to think of a motor with a better reputation than a 283 in that 60-80hp range that was in the 1650/1655.. When they pushed the 310 with a turbo and didn't add oil capacity that is where you can run into issues. Appreciate the video lots of good information!

Oliver was so far ahead for it's time, still is in many ways. Just wished White never bought them out. "That Oliver Guy-Chris Losey" is a good source at helping redo your hydraulics. Great video, cheers :)

I've had a '68 1850 gasser for about ten years now, really like it other than no float on the hydraulics. It had the head redone and sleeves and pistons at around 3600 hours or so I was told, the head has been hot tanked so probably...
Great tractor, love the hefty nature of the beast, it's my snow plowing rig and it handles a 9' Bison xhd 270 blade like a champ. Fires right up at -9°F too!

If I remember right the Waukesha 283 was pretty much fine because they were kept right in their horsepower range and weren't ever turboed from the factory I don't think. The 265 in the 1550s I've never heard anything terrible about. The 310 (at least in the 50 series) was pretty good I think, because the quality control was pretty good. The 1750 diesel had the naturally aspirated 310 diesel and in that 80-85 ish horsepower range I think they do great. In the 1950-T they started to push them a bit, but the quality of blocks was still good enough that they did okay. The 310 gasser in the 1850 was fine I'm pretty sure. Now the 310 in the 55 series was almost junk in the 18 and 1955s. They tried to slam too much power out of them and then the 1855 didn't even have an oil cooler. And the quality control of the blocks went way down.

The 1550 to the 2-155 all had the same front steering unit unless it had the gimmer then it was junk from day 1

2050 and 2150 doesn't have the steering box under the radiator. There are steering cylinders are under the frame.
