🐾 Giles our Director of Big Cats and Conservation hand reared Maya from when she was just 5 days old. At the time she had serious health conditions after being neglected by her mother. The story was told in a BBC series called, "Big Cats About The House". I watched this documentary a few years ago and now I have 2 wonderful black cats and one of them name is Maya💙 I love you😍

Ahmad Rifiki It’s safer to have protected contact between the two of them, as all accredited facilities practice protected contact with large carnivores; it’s clear she absolutely adores him but that doesn’t mean she can’t hurt him even unintentionally. She’s still a wild cat & she still has teeth & claws that can do damage. Maya is considered a large predator & wild black leopards can take down prey twice their size so it’s better this way, they clearly have a great relationship & that’s amazing to see, she trusts Giles so much. ♥️♥️
they don’t go in with her now. I did an open day yesterday. Very cool 😎 but they said she’s now grown so they treat her as such and don’t go In her enclosure.
These species are genetically aggressive
Prajwal A Yes just like most large carnivores & big cat species. Even though they’re around people they love & adore & vice versa, that predatory instinct is still there, albeit it can sometimes be buried deep down.
My wish is to work at big cats and take care of them. And Maya turn big

She wasn't a pet. Giles rescued her as a cub because her mother abandoned her, and raised her. She lives in the Big Cat Sanctuary. You can't keep jaguars as pets.
