- This cat patrolled a fire station every day for 10 years. Initially, Flame appeared at the department as a stray kitty and just never left! Right from the start, he acted like a big boss, though the firefighters couldn’t help but fall in love with him. Now, Flame is retired due to his age, but he changed the department’s life.

Flame demonstrated he could do everything a DALMATIAN could do and more. You'll never see a dog climb through a fire truck and inspect it the way he did!
In my experience as a youngster the only part of vehicles dogs were ever interested in were the tires!
I still remember his little cat house. But where would they find a cat this chill? Because not every cat is happy with all the sounds in the firehouse.

I'm telling you...they change your life and it's never the same. What a handsome boy.
He gave as much as he got and has left an amazingly legacy. Now he can enjoy his golden years safe and happy in well earned retirement. He will likely miss seeing so many friends everyday, but there are definitely valid safely concerns abd he will adjust to his new home with time. There will likely also be visits fron old friends and maybe strictly supervised visits back to the station on occasion

It's not rare for a stray cat to stick around somewhere. Cats, Birds, Dogs, Cows, Horses all know where and who feeds them and correctly show up at that place 😺

I watched videos of Flame's story years ago, and I was worried that he might get run over or hurt somehow in the fire station. I'm glad he's doing great.

Orange kitties have their own personality. I have had 3 orange kitties and they are very personable and friendly.

Honestly with a stressful career like that coming bac after a bad call AND HAVING A SWEET LITTLE SOUL THERE TO COMFORT U IS A HUGE MORAL BOOSTER instead of coming bac to a empty bunk to let the bad thoughts and doubts Kreep in I think it’s BETTER THAN A SHRINK CAUSE NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO OPEN UP TO ANOTHER,PROFESSIONAL OR NOT the cat is a start to midagate stress GOD LOVE THAT LITTLE GUY PS THANKS FOR SHOWING YOUR HUMANITY AND GIVING HIM A GOOD LIFE 👍👍👍

10 yrs of being a firehouse cat is a long time - glad he has a retirement home 2 go 2. HOPE u rescue another cat from a nearby shelter - time 2 save another cat! Maybe a tuxedo cat this time.
Cats are such great morale boosters! Maybe Belmont FD should get another cat? Watching the video I was most afraid of Flame getting crushed by the fire engines in case there was an emergency and everyone is rushing and didn't see him. Good thing that didn't happen!

I had cats in my 20's dogs at every other point in my life, and I'm going to be 62. I've always dogs. We laid to rest our last 2 dogs last year within 3 weeks of each other. Angel, a Rottweiler mix and 92 lbs, was 13.2 years old. Jenny was the sweetest, kindest dog, and she was just a really awesome dog. She was a pit bull mix, and any pittie I've ever met, owned, or ben around have just wonderful pets. She was 9 her old, she had already had acl repair on both her legs. I took her to the vet, thinking that maybe stitches pulled out or a new injury. Well, it turned out to be ostoesarcoma with a current fracture in the right leg. It was so devastating to both of us so much. If my husband and a son and grandchildren weren't allergic to cats, I would have gotten one by now! After reading and listening to these stories I may have to change my thoughts. I believe the fire station will find another perfect -fit kitty for the fire house!!

I hope they can bring in a new buddy for the firefighters. It probably would cure the boredom of long shifts and help on particularly hard calls.

I've got a solid ginger cat I've had for 15 years now! I'm a type one diabetic! I have what I call diabetic episodes to the point where ambulances have to be called, during the episode's I'm violent and fight the paramedics. Fred the cat goes and hides which is understandable. But as I'm coming out of the episode, the first thing I ask is where is Fred, is he ok. Even though he gets on my nerves sometimes, I'd be lost without him. I had his brother Gator an American pitbull terrier for 16 years before I had to put him down, due to his quality of life had diminished and causing him severe pain. Gator now sits on my nightstand still watching over me. When Fred's time comes, hopefully not for a long time he'll join his brother again and sit on my nightstand and watch over me.

It wasn't a stray, it was someone's cat that probably got neglected or abandoned so it decided to find a new family.
