    Feeling very fortunate to be reunited once again with Sifu Jake, my first Shaolin Kung Fu instructor. It's amazing to see how far we've both come since training together so many years ago in Arizona. Now we finally get to share some techniques together in Thailand and come full circle in our journey... Thank you Sifu Jake for making this visit!

      So cool to see you next to your old sifu on this channel. Wasn't expecting that. You're one of my favourite martial arts UA-camrs and deserve a lot more subscribers, so I hope you grow from this. It's amazing how you've been able to build your own martial arts gym and fuse all of those cool styles. Have you trained all the styles, or do you have a team of instructors who have each their speciality (one, savate, another JKD, etc), and you all learn from one another? :)

    • @MartialMasculine

      @@ZenDragonUA-camChannel Many of the styles (namely JKD, Kali, Silat) come from the Inosanto Academy, which my teacher, Sifu Quan is a full representative in. I'm also a Level 2 Instructor in both JKD and Panantukan under Sifu Mark Stewart. I'm working towards instructor ranking in Savate under Professor Dominique Fontanarosa and under various instructors for rank in Kali as well. So yeah I pretty much learn and train in everything.

    The JKD guy seems pretty competent.
    But Jake... your spinning side kick is not even a side kick. You did a spinning back kick; a back kick uses some different muscles and angle than a side kick. You can do a good side kick, and it looks extremely different to the kick you were doing there. A side kick obviously extends perpendicular to the direction your hips are facing, whereas a back kick powers out in the direction your butt is facing (for simplicity-sake). Your 'spinning side kick' struck in the direction your butt was facing, there are even many slow motion versions here to see it. Either you need to work on opening your hips more for a proper spinning side kick, or you need to learn back kick and the difference of it (it is a very common kung fu kick).
    The tiger claw block and side-of-head strike is incredibly inefficient. The block's alright, but the strike weaving out from it is coming at such a different angle that it will not generate the power to be useful. I could buy into it as only being a head grab.
    Your 'monkey stance' to avoid a punch, without having any of your hands up for backup, is a death sentence. You did not learn that from traditional kung fu, though it may have mutated from it.

    I see a lot of hate for this guy. He seems like a pleasant, friendly guy, respectful and has a positive energy about himself. I know some people say he is a fraud and his Kung Fu is not authentic, I don't know his history, but my eyes can see he is very athletic, great flexibility and has great control of his body. In terms of the applications of Kung Fu, some the techniques do come across a little doubtful in reality, but this is no reason to throw so much hate his way. I know someone will say, "you should Google him and you'll see his real name is Jacob Rydberg and he is a fraud like his old Sifu".
    The point I'm making is regardless of whether or not Sifu Jake is a great fighter or whether he has mixed up different styles of Kung Fu is irrelevant (not saying he had done this though), but if he has, it is not that important. He shows great spirit, has a good measure of respect, spreads positivity. The one thing that genuinely baffles me is how people will sit through his videos, just to leave a nasty comment, seems pointless.

    • @mattgymfu4369
      @mattgymfu4369 6 років тому +3

      ic, a positively motivated fraud and that makes it acceptable?! Again, this comment will almost certainly be block, but we are working hard in the background to stamp out this fraud!

    • @Kevin_Symmonds
      @Kevin_Symmonds 6 років тому +2

      @@mattgymfu4369
      How do you know 100% that he is a fraud? I only ask this because I have followed Jake Mace for years now and the fraud accusations have always been there. If he is so obviously a fraud, why has nothing been done about it? Like I said earlier, I don't know the man personally, I don't know if he is teaching "legit" Kung Fu, but visually he is a very skilled martial artist, I'm not talking about fighting, but he is a good performer and his demonstrations look impressive. I'm a karateka, not a Kung Fu practitioner, but it is obvious he has definitely had some training in Kung Fu, by his abilities

    • @mattgymfu4369
      @mattgymfu4369 6 років тому +1

      +Kevin Symmonds Listen, I don't mean to be disrespectful, but impressive demonstration is subjective and doesn't prove authenticity. I mean I think you have to be more objective in your approach if you want to disprove the critical remarks.

    • @Kevin_Symmonds
      @Kevin_Symmonds 6 років тому +1

      @@mattgymfu4369 That's fair, I can't disagree with that. However I'm not really looking to disprove anything, how could I? I don't even know the person, all I know is the face I see on UA-cam. All I'm saying is Jake Mace has a large following, a high profile in terms of UA-cam and social media, if he is such an obvious fraud and is ripping off Kung Fu and so blatantly for the whole world to see online as well, he's not doing it slyly, he's putting it out there for all to see, then why has no one shut him down, he's been at it for years now. I mean he has surely been reported countless times if the comment section is anything to go by, but he's still here with an increasing following.

    • @Kevin_Symmonds
      @Kevin_Symmonds 6 років тому +1

      @@scottdaniel2293 I completely agree, if you put him up against a trained fighter, kick boxer, boxer or an MMA guy he wouldn't come out victorious. That being said, could you learn how to become more flexible? could he teach you to kick? Stance work? I believe so, I know that's not all of what Kung Fu is about, I appreciate that but the guy has a lot to offer.

    Both styles of fighting are straight forward to the point. Hard to say which is better but it really determined on the practitioner.

      @@MartialMasculine thank you. I am working my son's JKD hard core lately. He is going to be a different animal next fight. That is if they do not close the gap when they get hit. heheheh :D Jesse Jame Kosakowski will be #1due to JKD training within a few years guaranteed! :)

    Nice theorizing of if you do this I would that. Prove it in a real fight and I will believe it. This is one of those" I think that would work" videos. Totally useless video.Prove your point in a real sparring
