      I'm only a beginner level practitioner of Wing Chun (6 years of training). Yes my wooden dummy skills need some work, and I will practice sending the energy into the center as you mentioned. As for the kick, I should be actually moving in toward the kick to intercept it and prevent it from maturing, so to speak. Another viewer mentioned that I should be blocking and catching towards the knee... and I agree with him. Thank you for your constructive criticism.

    Thank you for featuring me and Core Combat Chiang Mai on your channel, Sifu Jake! I'm only a beginner level practitioner of Wing Chun, but I've been able to apply the concepts and techniques to my MMA training. The wooden dummy has been monumental in shaping my form and structure, so I'm grateful to share what has been passed onto me by my instructors. Dear friend, I am so sad about hearing of you being disabled ! But remember you might not be able to do it but about 90% is mental.
      You still have a brain, you can still do the moves in you mind, and do the actual techniques that you are able. As at the Shao Lin temple says, " you cannot do something, do what you can, take another path."

    • @dr.dylansgame5583
      @dr.dylansgame5583 4 роки тому +1

      @@thedukeofskull1383 plus as long as your not completely disabled you can compensate with your own special form if you find one leg hurts or gets tired easy lean on the other leg as a support and learn to switch footwork constantly similar to drunk boxing also constantly shift your center of mass making both you unpredictable and giving you a new range of movement that seems to good to be true

    I have a Muk Yan Chong which I and my two young son's use to improve our Sui Nim Tao. The Muk has many levels of use. Yes, many use it to help develop their fighting skills, but I am 58. I have had back and knee surgery and have arthritis from these past surgeries. The martial arts keep me moving and give me the ability to have normal activities with my children.
    We must take advantage of these videos, and in the tradition of Wing Chun, use what is beneficial for our individual advantage.

    Nice, u showed the actual application of the Wing Chun practice with other styles :D I can see this being utilized in real too. It's normal to find people who just kick your side or come at you punching with a punch that won't reach u because most are too afraid to get that close as they wanna leave enough chance of dodging too :D Just that our reaction time gotta be just as fast which is only obtainable with practice. Great work man! I wanna learn

      Most martial arts moves and styles are made to deal with certain situations, would you make the same criticism about wrestling (pointing out that the moves wouldn't work if you were further apart) or boxing (only a certain range used to attack)?

      @@samuraiisalmighty4917 If you try to punch me from distance you can't reach me, it's pointless to do any form od defense, because I'm not threatened, And if i need, i can just move my head backeards. Also in the slow-mo you can see that if they were in contact range he would defend the punch AFTER he got punched which Is kind of pointless.

    And thus comes the *That Guy* moment.
    Using Chi Sau to catch punches is the most unrealistic part of Wing Chun especially when the practice punches are so far away that they are guaranteed to miss the person doing a Chi Sau based parry. This is the sole and single reason why Wing Chun guys get fugged up by boxers because of this unrealistic style practice of pretending to have bullet time reflexes.
    Use Ban Sau and Gan Sau to parry everything. Use Chi Sau to break and control grapples.

    • @mileszemanek3064
      @mileszemanek3064 3 роки тому

      You cant catch punches with chi sau. Chi sau isnt a technique...its a methodology to understand what the system is and does, as well as building and honing sensitivity to inputs like punches, kicks and etc.
      You still have to actually fight, in the end. And fights are messy.
      Your Sifu needs to spend more time with you.

    This wooden dummy is not a traditional one... the drills Jake uses is alot of angle cuts instead of sending the energy through the dummy. However, Jake's form is pretty good. Good basics, good relaxed forms, his movements show great hip/stance relaxation of the upper body. Thank you for this and applying it.

    • @SakanLam
      @SakanLam 5 років тому

      It's not Jake performing the form.. it's me, Sakan. I combined the drills from the Wing Chun wooden dummy form taught to me by Sifu Mark Stewart (Sifu Randy Williams and Sifu Augustine Fong lineage). My perspective is more JKD.

    Vai me desculpar, mas esta ideia de segurar chute com a canela no braço esta por fora. Se pegar um cara que entende de chute e uma canelada só ou no anti braço ou no músculo do braço, já vi caso que o lutador foi segurar o chute e quebrou o músculo do biceps. Em uma luta de MMA não tem um atleta com este tipo de defesa, pois sabem que isso e muito perigoso. Imagina um chute de um peso pesado ou meio pesado!
    You'll excuse me, but this idea of holding a kick with the shin on the arm is out. If you catch a guy who understands kick and a fluff alone or the anti arm or arm muscle, I've seen in case the fighter went to hold the kick and broke the biceps muscle. In a MMA fight there is not an athlete with this type of defense, as they know that this is very dangerous. Imagine a heavy or medium heavyweight kick!

    Nice video !
    But it's not real wing tsun,since there is no actual contact which would create the counterattacks.
    Through all the secondary attacks the attacker is not safe and it's very easy for the opponent to hit back at the same time.
    Contact creates the pulse , the pulse gives the response in a safe way and mainly using the center line principle ...
    It's a remarkable video...but it's not wing tsun.....wooden dummy drills are ment for advanced practitioners ....who understand the basics
    and use them to support the advanced technics !
