The level of detail you put into planning your games, something I wish I could. I'm one that plugs in a tactic and sim through matches. Sometimes I'll go 5 seasons without ever knowing my first team's players' names off head. I've played this game for 10 years now but I never have any idea what I'm doing. I love these kinds of videos, I keep learning a lot of stuff, though it's hard for me to do what u do. Respect to you Pep Musterman🙌🙌🙌
The beauty of FM is that it is yours to play however you want. If you want to focus on just one area you can. If you want to holiday through everything you can. If you want to control every single aspect some like mega-lo-maniac bastard, you can!
Nice approach! I'm exploring different strategies for squad rotation too. Recently, I've been trying not to have two teams with 11 first-teamers and 11 substitutes. Instead, I organize them into Key Players, Squad, Fringe, and Sub or Rotation. Key players will only play three games in a row and then rest for one. Squad players play two games and rest for two. Fringe players play one game and rest for three (this is best for players you want to develop or older players). Substitutes only enter as substitutes or when you have a very easy game and can rest key and squad players. I think this helps to have a strong squad, a strong bench, and ensures that the entire team maintains good match sharpness. Right now I have a team with 21 players. 9 Key, 7 Squad, 3 Fringe/Develop and 2 Subs.
Looks a pretty solid plan. It's rare for me to have such a clear distinction between first-choices and backups; normally I like to have "options" - with players who excel in specific ways so that I can change my lineup based on what I want us to do. But that doesn't gel quite so well with this dogmatic approach.
Yeah, I think squad rotation has a millon ways of approaching it. What I do is based on a twitter thread I read, based on what Guardiola does at City. But I am constantly looking a balance between resting and fielding the best possible XI. @@mustermannfm
Another quality video mate! I think it's often underappreciated how much thought needs to go into true squad management. I rotate virtually every match, but rarely if ever look further ahead than the current game.
Cheers, dude! It's always difficult to plan ahead, especially with how injuries and suspensions can derail everything, but that's actually why I try to have a plan to begin with. I want to be conscious of it throughout, so I can make sure that everyone gets some respite eventually!
Thank you; I'm glad you're enjoying it. It's back this week, albeit with a more narrative-heavy episode to start with as we deal with the January transfer window!
@@mustermannfm Your hard works truly deserves more recognition. Setting aside my personal enthusiasm for the PAOK series, the quality is exceptional. Hats off-- Here's hoping for a positive resolution in the contract negotiations in this series ;)
Addicticted to this series! Great work! A couple more save ideas just to pepper your head 😂 Bryan robson: middlesbrough, they have great academy and local players, mix in experienced internationals (ravenelli, juninho, emerson) and see if you can bring glory to boro with youth and big name ageing internationals.. Leeds utd: bring the old glory days of don revie.. a hard tackling, aggressive team, only signing english and scottish players
Thank you, dude! I'll be revisiting it at the end of the season to see the impact it's had on injuries over the course of the year, too. Now I have a squad more to my liking, I'm a lot more comfortable in being "aggressive" in my rotation. Whilst I have a preferred lineup, I'm confident that the backups can step in without too much of a drop in quality, and that certainly helps when it comes to rotation. No-one wants to regularly play a back-up if they're rubbish!
Thank you, dude!! I think, at least. I used to have this problem with Civ VI. I'd watch a vid on YT, then want to immediately try a game with that civ. Started a lot of new games. Finished very few 😂
And what life brings after PAOK? Can't wait till the next episode drops! Also, it's a clinic too this and the previous video! I've already used the previous one with success, but how I'm going to use this? I need time. Should I quit job tommorow? And come on, I'm sure you can say Tsaousis...
I'm hopeful that by playing chicken with the board, they'll eventually offer more money when it gets closer to the end of the season. I don't want to leave PAOK. Not this early into the save at least. But if I do, let's just see what comes up. I did find a video on the PAOK channel to help me with Tsaousis' name, but Marios is a lot easier 😂
Hey Mustermann great video. Just downloaded your skin and I'm using it on my Valencia save. We just won the Champions League and going into the next season I'm trying to repeat that. I just have a question regarding the playing time breakdown. How do we get that pie chart breakdown in the skin? Or what is the best way to view the distribution of the playing time to help determine the rotation of my team and to help me decide who to keep and sell? Thanks in advance :)
Two things. First, the HC pay thing is just broken in FM. It’s especially evident in one-club saves. I took Bonnyrigg Rose to the Champions League five years in a row, and I still make less a year than Martial does in a week. Second, not to dox (no idea if that’s the actual word and only some idea if that’s the meaning) you, but I’m a front-end dev that’s spent his whole career in UX. Am I way off in guessing you do something similar or related?
Not too far off, I suppose. I'm a BA, so regular interaction with UI/UX and dev teams, but no direct experience/expertise in that area. I'm happy to wait things out on the contract front, and see what happens. In FM23, I found that the chairman tended to become a lot more flexible the closer you got to the end of your contract, so let's play chicken and see what happens. Best case scenario, I get a virtual pay rise. Worst case scenario, it's the catalyst for me moving to a new team
@@mustermannfm Well, FWIW, you're better at creating both UIs and visualizations than several senior-level people I know that do each full-time. I'll try your FM23 method. Unfortunately, the chairman may have figured out that I'm going nowhere :)
@@Catch22er I definitely make a concerted effort to steal ideas/knowledge when I see something I like. Either with a design agency for a website redesign, and spent most of my time trying to work out how I could apply what they were suggesting to FM 🤣

All worked out and created manually, I'm afraid, by going through the fixture list and double checking how many minutes were played.
