- Sometimes you just have to put your hands up and admit you got it wrong. Even when results are good, if the performance isn't to the required standard, then there's problems. We take a look at why we've struggled to create chances, and take a few step backwards to fix the issue.

"Clearly, I got it wrong"
A true perfectionist
I intended to play all 10 games in one session. Ended up saving after 5 because I was unhappy with how we were playing and needed to analyse. Then spent most of the next day laughing at how ridiculous I was being!!
That said, there's actually probably something valuable here. Being able to recognise what isn't going right, even when winning, helps massively stop those sudden slumps in form. "But it was working before!", they type furiously on Reddit. It wasn't, you were just enjoying the benefits of momentum.
4:54 There is a manager at Manchester who once said: 'You can progress the ball without the midfield line!'. Try it Mustermann!
Little bit tougher when trying to pay homage to the narrow diamond of Werder Bremen from the early 200s 😂😂😂
Found this series yesterday and now I've caught up.
Truly amazing work, the best FM series I've ever seen.
That's very kind, thank you! Just glad you enjoy it!!
Mustermann clearly needs to start a Football Data Analysis academy. I'd surely pay for it 🙌🏿🙌🏿
Fine praise indeed. Will never happen, though. I'd actually need to know what I'm talking about, rather than just talking confidently 😂
It's very convincing,😂😂🙌🏿
@@shyguy1051 Somewhat appropriately, I think the intro is relevant here! I'm just some guy who likes football, and tries to apply what I learn to the greatest game ever made.
It works out alright so far, but it's useful to know one's limitations. I am not an expert, and shouldn't let myself fall into the fallacy of thinking I am more competent than I actually am 🤣
Solid, solid stuff here Mustermann!
Much love, BrasilianFury 😘
Yet another video where I click the very clearly titled and thumbnailed Mustermann FM video that I'm very excited about, and then the first line makes me question whether I've in fact clicked on a completely different genre of video 😂
Amazing stuff as always, and the pursuit of perfection and nailing the philosophy is admirable. I lost my way slightly with that in my last save, I got a bit complacent with knowing my tactic worked more often that not, and I think ultimately that stopped me achieving what I set out to.
I am guilty of enjoying a convoluted intro. It does seem a little mad to get frustrated by winning, but genuinely intended to do the whole 10 games in one session, realised things weren't working, so had to save half way through, have a rest and get analysing 😂
I do think that is one of the things that tends to kill my saves. Start with a noble plan, end up abandoning it without even realising. Then eventually realising once the motivation has faded. Transfers or changing clubs usually ends up doing that for me!
Great Video mate, I have Monserrate in my Malaga save, he’s so good and versatile. Keep up the great work
He is class. Shame that Newcastle signed him, but at least we got the loan back for the season, I suppose!
One of the most common FM pieces of advice to players is "look at your team and build a tactic around your players." This advice works great with Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne, since setting up: "stretch the defense and then punish them with superhuman physicality and finishing" is pretty easy to grok.
Showing people how to think about the strengths and weaknesses of a team of mortals is incredibly helpful. But even more helpful is showing people how to make adjustments when the team just wasn't quite good enough to play the way you thought they could.
A little bit of extra passing, dribbling, off the ball, or composure (patience) would have let your team break the press more regularly in the way you envisioned. You thinking the squad maybe had enough about them to make that happen more often was certainly not an obvious error. And adjusting to pull more close options into the midfield and shorten the triangles seems like a logical fix to me.
I think one of the challenges with FM is dealing with limited information. Highlights only show a small bit of the picture, but playing games on full is far from practical. It can be easy as a result to miss context, or even overreact by assuming the errors you see are being repeated throughout.
@mustermannfm I totally agree. And not just for tactics. One of the hardest things for me was figuring out what to praise or criticize for without watching the whole game. The bulk form stats like headers and tackles and chances created don't really do a good job of explaining what actually happened. The match analysis tools are somewhat daunting on first approach, but are really helpful in understanding the games.
I started playing FM attributeless and using the data only approach back in FM22. For a series that ive played every year since its first release in the early 90's as CM, this approach has massively extended the lifecyle of a format that was going stale. Hopefully FM25 will let us stat nerds delve deeper into it as for some mentalists, its the future! 🤓. Keep the flag flying for us data bores MM 👍
Data nerds assemble!!
The Raumdeuter has been stopped... Sad :(((
It's a shame, not even the Raumdeuter's fault, but no point in perservering if it's not working!
Do you always play with vertical scrolling camera? I've always been meaning to ask, but seem to forget to ask you these, cos I'm enjoying the video at the moment
For videos, yes. I find it to be a more dynamic/interesting angle.
If I'm playing for myself, no. I use sideline, reversed, maximum zoom, lowest height, for a "dugout" view.
21-0-0 and still tweaking...That's my man!
Can't rest on your laurels!!
Great video as always
Thank you, dude!
Caught up now with the series, on to the money ball series, skin downloaded , time to start a new save with the skin to.. top stuff 👍🏽
That's some impressive binging!!
@@mustermannfm the series is too good not to binge!
@@mustermannfm just deciding who to do a save with no. My usual go to’s are Liverpool my fave team and harrogate town my local team, but mite have to do something different.. do you start with attributes disabled? And how did you disable your player search section? Thanks in advance
@@ReggaeBoyGaming I think FM saves always with best when you have a team you want to specifically play, so if no-one's jumping out to you, then the usual candidates are probably a good bet!
I have attribute making enabled, but I the approach works with it disabled, too. As for player search edits, you need to edit the sections/sidebar sections.xml file in text editor (such as notepad). I won't be at my PC today, so I can't give you the exact bit you need to change. It should be mentioned somewhere in the comments of the skin video, though.
@@mustermannfm thank you, i appreciate the time out taken to explain.. i just wont select it myself. Easy option 😂.. yea thinking one club save but continuing if i achieve all or get the sack. 😂.
Great Episode. Is the PAOK tactic available to download?
It's not uploaded anywhere, no, and I'm not at home at the moment. It's all covered in other videos, though, and there are various tweaks between games based on who is available.

Yeah, new video! P.S. Lately I really like managing this kind of mid/bottom la liga1/la liga2 teams. 2 saves ago in a Jorneyman save I quit in my 7 or 8th season in Lazio after 2 back to back league titles just to find a job in LaLiga2 with Levante 😀
I think there's something super fun about those teams just a little below the top. A nice challenge with the wiggle room to try things out!
@@mustermannfm YES. They always have 2 or 3 very interesing players. Underrated and well rounded players that usually really overperform for me. P.S. I was wrong about the Levante that was different save. Jorneyman save went 1 season, Groningen > 1 season OL, 2 seasons Lazio and then I quit and took over Celta Vigo in LaLiga 2. > Leverkusen
@@RandAlThorR Celta Vigo feels like a nice classic team!!
Can you talk about average ratings in one of your videos, i don't remember you talking much about it. There are players with very good stats in terms of pass %, high interceptions & tackles per 90 and high tackle % for example, but then they have 6.6 average rating, i had dm like this (maybe it's because he doesn't participate in plays leading to goals!?). I was wondering what is the importance of that average rating and if we should look at that or focus in statistics only according to each position and needs. Thanks.
There isn't really much to say. Average rating can be very useful in understanding generally how a player performs, but as with any system that seeks to provide an objective rating, it is going to choose to weight certain actions, that isn't necessarily going to align with what every user values. If a player is doing what you want, average rating doesn't matter.
Love your videos and the skin is fantastic but just wondering why the player search is still on mine would it because I did something wrong on downloading the file just unsure why I still have it. Amazing videos loved the paok save
The public release has player and staff search enabled. If you wish to disable them, you need to edit Mustermann Iconic/sections/sidebar sections.xml, line 487:
This needs to be changed to:
You'll then need to save the file, reload the skin with caching off.
If you also want to disable staff search, that is line 709:
This needs to be changed to:
@@mustermannfm Thanks for that appreciate the help and response, skin is fantastic gives the game a much for realistic approach in my opinion. Keep up the great work 👍
Have you considered a Winger(a) instead of a raumdeuter with some specialized instructions?
We're working with a specific approach in mind, and this wouldn't be appropriate. I do cover it here: ua-cam.com/video/vZLMXH5S-gU/v-deo.html
As mentioned in the video, the Raumdeuter isn't the problem. It's everything else 🤣, but yes a winger could be effective with a different goal in mind!
thanks for creating this! I'm just like this! i could be winning but i don't know why and it drives me insane knowing it's not sustainable. this video helps me see how to compare. I'm curious about how you organise and analyse the numbers before and after the tactic switch. i wish the game allowed us to do this in-game
A very uninspiring answer, I'm afraid. I went into each game, and added the numbers up. It took far too long 😂
Man awesome series but would be more fun if we got the episodes a bit faster. Anyway really enjoying this journeyman series, hope it ends with you being multiple time champions league winner.
I'm open to suggestions. I will always be limited by time, even moreso in weeks where I have to commute every day for work, but I'm always looking for ways to produce more content without sacrificing quality.
This is such a weird comment man. Be grateful for what you are getting, you are not untitled to anything from content creators. He is not a full time creator so be grateful for you get.
@@Baller199755 I genuinely welcome suggestions. It is honestly something I spend a lot of time thinking about how to streamline the process without abandoning what it is that I'm trying to do.
Granted, every time I think I find a way to speed things up, it sends me down another rabbit hole to get lost in 😂
To me your just looking for a excuse to analyze 😂
Ironically, this was one of the few episodes where I actually had an idea what the subject would be before I played. It wasn't this.
Normally, I let the situation emerge, but before this session, I was like "oh, it would be nice to focus on the other teams in the league - we're a couple of seasons in and the Segunda Division is filled with teams who used to be in La Liga, so let's immerse ourselves in the world." And then we were shit, and all my plans went out the window 😂
