Congratulations! Glad to see you planting some up in this neck of the woods. I had some cuttings received in the mail, but they died. Planning on getting some more. 💜💜💜 AuntieEllen
I had a garden of shampoo ginger at my last house. It’s was about 10’x30’ garden of it. Don’t be discouraged but it takes about 3 years for a plant to get a bloom every time it’s a new cut. It’s also great for mosquito bites to stop the itch
Yeah I realized that by seasons end that it needs to get pretty established. It's gone into dormancy (inside) now due to the short day length. Really hoping it comes back again in spring!!!
@@WickedAwesomeGardeningit will come back up. Ginger is a slow plant. My garden was under oak trees. Morning sun and shade the rest of the day. The blooms come late in the season after the plants get tall. My plants would start to sprout up around April/May and bloom in September. The bloom shoot will be kinda like a small green raspberry when it starts to sprout out and shoot up. It won’t have layers like the leave shoots you see coming up from the dirt in the video. I have 1 plant I brought from my garden. It sat for almost a year in the dark before I started watering it and after 2 months it sprouted up. Ginger just takes time
I'll make sure to give one in my next video from home then! I honestly thought I lost it over winter but it finally woke up and came out of dormancy and is up and growing again!
I hope so too! :) it's outside for the first time today (although it's had plenty of UV exposure on the front porch with the windows open) and it seems to be loving it!
I don't know why but I never even thought about using it for soap hahahaha!!! If the rhizomes grow enough I'll be able to divide and gift them eventually!
HEY Girl! You were a bad influence on me with your first video, and I had to order some. Out of 7 pots I now have 4 just peeking through the top. LOVE the variegated .. i want some! Where to find?
Hello my name is Marie , I just started growing the Awapuhi ginger shampoo Lilly from the Rhizomes oct 1 I haven't seen anything yet but I keep looking at the Rhizomes making sure that they are still firm I water them once a week , I wanted to know how often you watered yours, how long it took before you saw any growth, and how they are progressing now I just wanted to make sure my money is well spent not just sent 😊 Thank you in advance
HI Dani, I wonder if you would sale some of your variegated Awapuhi shampoo ginger Lilly Rhizomes , unfortunately I cant find anyone saling to California I would love these for my garden along with the original Awapuhi shampoo ginger Lilly Rhizomes I have , please let me know or where I can get them Thank you
Not too often as they are tropical plants and don't like to be too wet. At the moment the rain we have been getting has been enough. It we have a dry spell I'll stick a finger in the soil and it it's dry I'll give it a good drink and then leave it for a bit.
Shampoo ginger is a interesting plant. It's on my "To Grow " list.
Great video our friend yur video is outstanding all the time much love from Mr.time2shine and Ms.time2shine homestead

I'm planting my shampoo ginger today.
Those shampoo ginger plants are looking great!
I'm excited! Can't wait for the flowers!!!

If you do just keep the moist but not soaking, and keep them warm! Planted just below the soil
Oh yes awesome update. Congratulations it looks so happy & healthy!
I can't wait for it to flower!
Beautiful plants! I love that they're variegated!
Sooooo pretty!!!!
Ginger takes sooooooo long! Awesome. 🌱🪴
I was happy just having one sprout but even though the second one took and extra 3 weeks to get going it caught up really fast :)

I’ve never seen variegated ginger (or heard of shampoo ginger). Those are stunning! I’m curious to see how they look when they get bigger!
I'll definitely be doing updates as they grow!
Would love to see an update on these :)

It looks good, thank you for an update. Hopefully it continues to grow well for you))

@@WickedAwesomeGardening you are such a bad influence. Just ordered 3. grr
Haha I am a terrible enabler!
@@WickedAwesomeGardening YOU ARE!
Thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks for watching!!!
How fun! I've never grown any kind of ginger. I would assume you would have to bring these inside during the winter?
Yup! It's hardy in zones 8-10. It will die back in fall but I'll have to bring it inside for the winter.
that's doing great, my reg ginger are still really tiny.
Once it got that first leaf I was surprised with how fast the others grew :)

Hi where do you get variegated shampoo gingers?
I got some at Christmas. Planted them. Nothing yet. It is March now. 😢
I'm waiting for mine to break dormancy... Starting to get worried they aren't coming back! 😭
@@WickedAwesomeGardening so I shouldn’t give up hope?
It took over 2 months for the second one to come up. I can't promise but there is still a shot?
Although I'm about to dig mine up to look for rot or whatever. Trying to be patient 🤣🤣🤣
Mine took over 4 months 😂 now they shot up like there’s no tomorrow! (:
Hey, found some on etsy but its expensive. what's your source for the variegated variety or can I trade ya with some cardamom starts?
