My Shure GLDX16 is an awesome wireless system. Only get about 40 feet though. It’s more than I need most times except when checking my own sound from the audience area.

I just bought a SLXD1 and SLXD4 for guitar because of this video. After getting the gain level to match my cable, I can't believe the tone. It's like my cable is a country road of tone and the SLXD is a SUPER HIGHWAY of tone. Amazing!

Thank you, Pete (and Paul)! I learned so much through this video and had no idea about the availability of frequencies.
Granted, as of now I’m only playing local solo acoustic shows at small to mid-size venues (in the Tampa, FL area).
But I notice a slight cut-out every now and then using my Boss WL-20L.
I think I need to switch to that Shure analog system for dual channel (I sometimes whip out the electric for some songs).
    Thank you again!

Shure wireless systems rock, the newer Axient Digital range is damn impressive (I still can't get over how tiny their bodypack transmitters and batteries are).
Pete, stupid question: in your live rig, as I gather you're using several discrete wireless channels, how do you switch from one to the other ? Are you using the Radial input switcher (that is a mainstay of many live rigs), or are you using something else ?

Very clear, informative content. Thanks Pete. My objective is a 5 minute load-in and set-up!
I'm working with a Shure BLX wireless mic for solo acoustic singer / songwriter busking and small venue performances. It's rock-solid, simple to use, and sounds great. The reciver is so small I mounted it under my pedalboard which feeds a BOSE S1 Pro Battery powered mini line array speaker. Both the Shure and BOSE products are brilliant for my thing.. The main thing the Shure does is simplify load-in, set-up, tear-down and load-out. This is especially critical when I busk - for obvious reasons. Carrying and setting up mics and mike stands and running the cable and all that is a PITA, and if some mall-cop tells me to move-along, I've gotta go through the hassle all over again. If I'm using a headworn mic set-up, I can just throw my guitar in it's gig bag, grab my amp and pedal-board and walk away. Main trade of is my visual appearance - no getting around it: headsets don't look very LA Voodoo lol, and the limit "mic technique" to "make sure the mic is 1/2" from your mouth, and keep it there"
Looking to go totally wireless for ninja gigging, where I walk up to popular local pubs when it's slow and ask if it's OK if set-up and play. I tell them they can kick me out if I suck. (Don't try this if you suck folks - you'll ruin it for me)
Set-up is reduced to setting down my am and pedalboard, putting guitar and headset on PLAYING.
No flithy cables to untangle and connect / disconnect / coil and tangle up again.
    Or trip over =)

does a single box send your guitar and pick up your in ear mix or is there a seperate pack for each?

Very interesting, and I agree on Shure wireless. I have used them for years - just a local gigger! - and always found them reliable, great sounding, with no cutouts, as you said. But what happened to the GLX-D pedalboard unit? That's what I have mostly used, love it, includes a great tuner, but apparently it's now discontinued! Was just recommending it to a fellow band member over his now-dead Line 6 unit - and he tells me the GLX-D is discontinued! Not happy about this!
