As much as we love to watch "extreme (ROOM) makeover" videos, it's so different from how people usually decorate their space (y'know, over time, slowly) that I totally welcome ongoing revisits to your home reno... more content that's more realistic!
Yes agreed!!
Nice aubergine colour for the fireplace! I was expecting some action on the fireplace itself, like a stencil or a tile, or more texture..
Exactly!
I genuinely agree so much
ua-cam.com/video/l9jacVw1HFo/v-deo.html
Not gonna lie, I could not see the vision with that fireplace color at first and was almost horrified when you opened that paint can. But once I saw the final version, it totally makes sense. I am still on the fence about the poop color for the poop room but absolutely love the gallery wall!
You are saying exactly what I was thinking. Although I really am falling off the fence to get rid of the poop walls.
Maybe paint the bathroom the same color as the fireplace at least
@@PinkZomb1e that's what i said! the fireplace color should be the poop room color
Agree, that poop room is terrible. It takes away from the nice renovation.
@@christinaaubin8508 thats rude. its not your house, and you can still enjoy similar tastes while having some differences.
For me, I don’t really hate the brown poop color, even for a toilet room. I think what turns me off is where the color is placed and the fact that there’s SO much of it. If it was used as an accent color or distributed all over the toilet room in small bits then ok. But it’s too much of that one color in one area (the entire bottom half of the walls) that turns me off. If she had used this same technique with a different color it might’ve worked, but it’s something about that specific intense neutral brown that i don’t think works in such large sections. But she likes it so that’s all that matters! 🙂
That's a really good point! The amount of it. It's a lot.
I would’ve loved to see the fireplace green in the bathroom
My heart quite literally shattered into a million pieces when you went over the sage green fireplace... OMFG
I love the new color, especially when shown the before and after in the space. Thought I liked the sage a LOT, till I saw the dry plum color!
For reals. The green fireplace was the only thing I liked in there
@@heathersmith8549 FACTS
kelsey be like: *"now that the renovation's over, imma renovate it again haha lol"* **nervous laugh**
That was what I imagined when I saw the video title too hahaha 💗
ua-cam.com/video/l9jacVw1HFo/v-deo.html
Yes
The paint looked more red because it was next to it's complimentary color: green!
ua-cam.com/video/l9jacVw1HFo/v-deo.html
Complementary
The question “have you ever seen picture frames priced per pound?” threw me for a second because I’m from the UK where we do price things by the pound 💷
😆 That made me laugh out loud.
Same!!! I was thinking “uhhhhh, my nearest charity shop has a £1 frame bucket”
I'm living in the US but I watch lots of both Canadian and British youtubers so I had to pause for a second and think XD. I think it is a smart way to price them so larger frames will cost more also high quality frames are usually heavier than cheaper frames.
i wasn’t at first, but loved the outcome in the end 🤍
Hahahah
Ngl, I was hoping you’d give the “poop” room a new paint color, but I like the gallery you’ve created as well as the upstairs refresh.
In Germany we usually try to drill into the grout lines. You can always fill them if you remove whatever you had there. It's not as visible as drilling directly into the tile. Of course sometimes the grout lines are just to small 🤷♀️
That's so dang snart
Smart*
same, I just wish the previous renters of my new apartment would have kept that in mind as well 😂 it's so bad 💩 (I'm also german / in germany)
Yeah, same in Russia
Same in Australia! I thought it was standard
The whole "drilling into the tile" thing is so my dad too - if you kept any spare tiles, then you have them for when you want to re-cover holes! Drill away, girlie girl!
ua-cam.com/video/l9jacVw1HFo/v-deo.html
Oh my goodness! As a girl who grew up with a mom who sewed, I can tell you a little something about your grandmas “book”. The original book that she glued her ideas into was the official pattern book for Butterick. You would go to the fabric store and they had big slanted desks with those books propped up so u could see drawings of the clothes and then look up the correlating pattern in giant file cabinets. So here’s the tea on ur grandma- u couldn’t buy those giant books. They were for in store use only! So somehow your grandma managed to sneak out with that giant book?! Or had a friend who hooked her up?!? Hilarious. (And BTW- I’ve always liked the brown)
They got rid of the old books when new patterns came out, so Gramma probably came by it honestly. And greens my favorite color, but the fireplace looks great with the other change-Florentine Plaster color. Like the picture wall.
@@brendasnow8255 I dunnnnnnoooo. Grandma was taking rocks from state parks haha
I LOVE how the redo went! Too many designers are decorating with just white these days. It's SO nice to see color added to the space even if it is still neutrals.
For the future, you can change how strong those hinges are, you can loosen them down the entire way and then tighten it again once the doors are on.
I miss the green fireplace, would have loved to see that color up the whole wall behind the mirror. But the final product does look beautiful. The door color all the way across separates the entry space nicely. The brown has won me over! Especially with the gallery wall it just fits.
Tile hols are “less permanent” than cabinet holes.. you can always swap a tile by breaking it and removing with a chisel, then you just need to put on your spare tile
THIS
exactly!!
That’s what I was thinking!
Seems like a Pita to do when wood filler takes 2 seconds to apply. Also, I think her final choice was more aesthetically in tune with the decor.
I’m so nervous, I am too indecisive. I’m tiling my whole wall in my bathroom and I don’t know if I’ll regret installing shelves
I love all the changes! Except, I'd be a bit weirded out to look at all my relatives / have them look at me while I'm sitting on the toilet.. But it does look great, I personally would probably just use different pics 😅 and I have ALWAYS loved the brown and absolutely still do!
Lol you made me picture that. 🤣😭💀
The living/entry room looks so much more cozy, relaxed and grown up classy. Amazing what paint can do :D
For the future, you can change how strong those hinges are, you can loosen them down the entire way and then tighten it again once the doors are on.
As far as the towel rack, I think it looks good on the side of the vanity because all of the other very visible hardware is black, so I didn't think it matched too much. But it's your house and you can do what you want!
this was my exact chain of thought!!!!
What happened to making it Black before installing it... That's all FoLKs... Also why are you afraid to temp wallpaper or really vibrant colors in your home like "Evergreen Green "
Lone Fox did and it's gorgeous... But it Looks Good, but more Bland... Compared to your Office ???? Oh the upcoming kitchen ... Looks basically good but green cabinets is Nice idea
If it were black I'd mount it to the wall since you can easily (?) repair a single tile. But yes...not exposed.
I feel the bathroom needs more. It needs like an amber glass tray, some dark bronze knobs to match frames, or statement knobs ex: knobs that come together in the top center when the doors are closed. I love everything else, the plum, the console. I'm glad everything is coming together for you, especially since you literally put blood sweat and tears into it. =)
Love how the fireplace turned out! I do wish the mantle had a natural wood finish to break up the color but it looks amazing!
i looooove that you continued the door color across the wall, it makes it feel so complete and also delineates it as an entryway space! and i love the new fireplace color, i thought i'd miss the green but the new color looks great & it was definitely the right choice to paint it behind the mirror! love the new media console and the water closet gallery wall as well
17:30 the editing lol, with the ghost snake. Love it when the editors have a bit of fun
Yes, same!
I appreciate how you go back into spaces and tweak them. I ADORE the entryway! That plum color is amazing! Also, the gallery wall made me like the bathroom better. The brown is nice ( browns are HARD, so bravo on your color choice). If you are unsure and want to change it, the plum or a darker green would be nice too. Gorgeous as always!
Thank you for showing the REAL design process you go through! And for showing how much HELP you get from so many awesome friends. It’s good to have that perspective when you don’t have that kind of support to help how long things can take for your own situation. I Appreciate it very much :)
pro tip from my carpenter boyfriend: use hot glue dots in between your permanent glue on anything you’re trying to glue on off spots! hot glue holds it while the permanent glue dries!
Thats genius!!!
the thought of being on the toilet having all these people "watching" you combined with the brown wall that, personally, is giving me vibes of the ww2 era - it's a lot 😅😅😅 but what is better proof of you liking the decisions you made than keeping it the way it is despite aaaall the negative feedback? nothing! and that's awesome (no joke here, I'm serious) 💕
Kelsey wants her whole family in the room when she's pooping. That's all I was thinking when I saw that & I wasnt sure if she was trolling us?
@Laura McKenzie ??? Ok.
@@Neverbeher she just needs some moral support😂😂😂
@@Neverbeher That's a good point. It's kind of an odd room to have a collection of old family photos.
Love the new colors! The plum/raisin purple fireplace looks gorgeous and draws the eye up as you were explaining. Looked good before, also looks good after, just a matter of personal preferences! This also reminds us viewers that we have permission to change our minds about our living spaces lol sometimes it feels like once it's "done" it's permanent. Not the case!
I love the plum fire place! It looks so much warmer. I’ve been waiting so long for you to do plum/aubergine i think its such a nice colour and also compliments the sage green you have in other parts of the house. I know you love the brown in the bathroom but i think maybe painting over it with the plum could also be cute.
I was SO stoked to see you paint the poo room.. and then you DIDN’T. 😂 lmao you should just paint it the color of the fire place, because the fireplace color is similar, but SO much better!!!❤️
There's an idea! :)
I like it honestly, I think it matches her vibes
She totally trolled/clickbaited me with that thumbnail lol...
My suggestion also
that's what i said too!
I’m not sure about the color of the fireplace, but I love how it divides the room. I didn’t get it when you explained it but it totally was the right move
I love the end result, though I am still amused by Kelsey saying she's going to add a pop of colour and then picking a beige XD The fireplace is probably the colour she was thinking about, but still :D
Gallery wall is certainly helping the bathroom come together. I think more pictures would look really good in there.
The fire place looks really nice! Thanks for sharing!
I've always liked the brown bathroom, but I don't really like the fireplace now, def prefer the green but I like that you brought the door color around. Always feel weird using a toilet with pictures of people but the gallery wall is organized well
I came to say the same thing. I have never minded the bathroom color but was so sad to see the green go.
Yeah or maybe a neutral green. The color it is now is way too strong.
Feels so much warmer in the entry, I’d be curious to see how you feel about the color come spring/summer as it does feel a bit autumnal. I love it though❤️
I was thinking that too! Although knowing Kelsey, I wouldn't put it past her to re-paint in the spring 😂❤ I mean with a Benjamin Moore sponsorship, why not?! I would too!
ua-cam.com/video/l9jacVw1HFo/v-deo.html
Bringing the door colour across the walls was such a good call, and the new fireplace colour, especially taking it to the ceiling. It makes the place look more like a home and less like a rental.
I really don't mind the color in the "poop room" the thing that bugs me is that it seems a too little flat, pictures helpping a bit to remedy that, but the very base/no texture gives me cheap gas station bathroom vibes. I wonder if there would be a way to bring more texture to that color on the lower half while still keeping the room easy to clean as it is a poop room and in a basement.
Drilling into tile is a bit more complicated than normal drilling, you need a special drill bit and you have to water cool it, however that newer hindered us in doing "permanent" changes. That being said, when ever possible, drill into the grout to mount things. Much easier to deal with and a lot less risky.
Unless you are drilling massive holes, you are fine without watercooling it. I wouldn't actually drill into the grout. You can just hit a til, which makes it way more vulnerable. Personally, I don't think it looks goed either.
LOVE this series and LOVE your backyard! So beautiful. Thank you for sharing all this beauty. Well done!
Love every decision made in this video Kelsey!! Your space feels so much more put together and cohesive now, amazing job 🤎
I wish I could see what you see with the brown color - I admire the optimism. I think it also makes the space feel heavy to have the dark contrast on the bottom. Maybe just me?
I loved the green more, that brown makes it feel like the colour in the loo lol
@@nessin8or394 that’s exactly what I thought - vibes of the poo brown in the loo!
That craft/diy book from your grandmother is amazing! What a special thing to have 🥰
Ikr that is epic!!!
gorgeous edits Kelsey! that plum/brown is beautiful, really brings the space together AND warms it up (Its perfect for fall but might be too warm for summer, but that's a next year problem) LOVE IT great work!!
This is amazing! It’s such a good example of how paint can transform a space!! {I love the browns you picked don’t let anyone bother you about them}
Honestly when you said changes are going to be made I was thinking oh good the "poop" walls are going. Sorry Kelsie not a fan of that color. I love the look of bold wallpaper I was hoping that for that room than maybe I could like the poopie wall color. But I do love your space and all the changes you've made much more cozier. I love the making home series I don't want it to end.
So interesting to see how an actual space develops as you live with it and want to make changes! Also no shade meant at all as I love the channel and watch every vid but I do really miss seeing more videos of Kelsey and Becky together. It feels a bit like other than Upgrade My Stay you're never in the same uploads anymore!
I think it's been really tricky with the pandemic to do anything where too many people are in the same room
It definitely does seem like Kelsey and Becky aren’t really friends anymore. The video where Becky tried to surprise finish the wall the vibes were so tense it was awkward.
Agreed! I miss seeing them together a bit more!
@@laurelclark8203 I feel like it's impossible to tell anything like that from a video, everyone is stressed out from living through a pandemic and re-learning how to be social humans again.
@@laurelclark8203 I always sensed awkwardness between them tbh I thought I was just reading too much into their body language!
I FULL ON DIG the brown!! LOOOVE it. cozy, earthy, can be layered with whatever or stand on its own. GREAT JOB!!!
That plum colour is so gorgeous! And I also love the bathroom colour, especially with the new gallery wall. Love that you aren't afraid to go bold with the colour, has inspired me to do the same!
Kelsey: I love this color.
Me: I hate it.
I love that you stay true to yourself! It's not what I would do but it's helping to know the right way HOW to do something!
Kelsey: i'm gonna add some color
also Kelsey: * paints everything beige *
My thoughts exactly 😂 beige brown or green.
OMG love the transformation. The brown is so good! On the fireplace & also in the bathroom, I love them both. Also love to see Rachel on the videos, she is just cool af, great style & personality. Love from Lisbon 😘
This video was sooo good!! Jam-packed with fun and exciting changes, love your console table.. and those pans are really cool looking as well...
I hate the brown bathroom but I have to admire how hard you’re trying to make it happen 😂
same and putting up all those photos w/o frames makes it look like a 15 year old polaroid wall
When you opened the paint tin for the fireplace I was like "Oh no the green is so nice" but it really does add a warmth and better flow to the space. Love the beige continuation half way up the wall. Another job well done 👏 ✔ 👍
Love it!! Tv console is so nice and the plum color with blush accents make it feel so much warmer.
I love all of the colors you picked, even the 'hated' brown in the bathroom! Especially love the plaster color in the front - makes everything look really custom and built in
I am fully on board with your dad! I’d defo put the towel rail in the unit instead of the tile - great choice!
love this vid- the fireplace color was a great choice as well as adding more color in the entry area. Can't wait for the kitchen makeover !!!
ohh your entryway looks so warm and inviting now!!! I love it 🥰 I always loved the bathroom color but I really love the addition of the gallery wall too - adds a lot of visual interest and just a bit more “you” ❤️
I’ve always loved the colour you chose for the water closet I think a nice dark/warm colour is perfect for that space. But hear me out, wallpaper on the top half that is also dark tones. With the gallery wall I think that could be so cool!
I wasn't sure I would like the color of the fireplace since I LOVED the green, but I like what the full-height color and warmth of the brown does to the space - very cozy. :)
Love the brown and plum colours! Really enhances the organic, natural and cozy vibes in your space
I genuinely love the color you chose for the fireplace…your whole entryway looks gorgeous ❤️
new fireplace color looks so great!
Hang it on the wall
Recommendation: you don't have to drill to the tile, just use Mammut glue stickers or it's alternative, it will hold like "Mammut", I have my drying rack for clothes glued in and it really doesn't move at all even fully loaded.
I've always loved the bathroom color! Love the new fireplace color too, gives it a warmer atmosphere.
LOVE IT! This looks incredible, you added such warmth and peace to the space!
Not sure about portraits in the bathroom… like “Grandpa’s” watching you poop!
Not in love with the bathroom or fireplace color but it's your home so that's all the matters! Personally I think painting the same green up to the mirror would've achieved the same effect. The media cabinet is soooo good though!
These updates are A+++++ - Your refresh of the upstairs is *inspirational!*
I love the new fireplace color and the bathroom colors are so cozy! I definitely feel that the bathroom has the wrong lighting though. I would do amber lighting to match the color in there, it would also make it feel more comfortable and cozy instead of harsh white light raining down on you. Otherwise I love!
It's good to see that you guys always accept your mistakes and try to improve. #SorryGirls
Yes! People can always improve and learn - it’s human
I think the towel rack on the vanity is a smart decision. I love the vintage gallery wall in the toilets. Love the media unit. Love how you spread the Florentine plaster color on the wall.
I'll miss the green of the fireplace and I'll need some time to get used to the plum color.
You did great!
I can't wait to see what you'll do in the kitchen!
Omg the fireplace to living room space looks soooo good. I’m V impressed
Great improvement! Love what y'all did in the living room... the fireplace looks awesome. Nice color. Nice job.
I do really like the color choises you have made! The pictures in the toilet room really balance the look out and the color there looks very sophisticated!
Needs an office update on Above to make it rock... Think of Forest Bark, it's Needing It's Green Leaves or Colored Leaves like Ugly Office Bathroom, Got...
LOVE how that plum colour turned out! It's giving me Fall vibes!! 🤩 As for the poop room, I don't think the colour is that bad, but there is too much of it imo. You should break it up/liven it up with more details and a faux plant.
Wow love the color changes. It warmed up the whole room. Cabinet is gorgeous.
Honestly i can totally the see the room that you visioned in this one. All the colour choice were perfectly balance. Beautiful home 💕

He is cute... 😀
Very cute 👀 Hi! Brian?
Wow i loooove this! It looks way more cozier! Also I love you and Rachel’s vibes together
I love love love it ! I love color and even thought I like white and natural wood ,I love some color in there with it ,that's what brings out the beauty of white and wood .GORGEOUS
Please don’t ever let this series end I love watching u evolve
Why is everyone hating on the poop color bathroom. I really quite like it!! I think it reads more like clay/mud and makes for a cozy atmosphere
Also the entryway makeover is amazing
Absolutely ADORE the new paint colours in the room. It's absolutely gorgeous now.
Your toilet room is stunning the colour you've painted it.
It looks so good!!! The changes you made made everything way more cohesive
love this plum and the toilet room colours! You see a lot of whites and creams lately with no depth or darkness and i love to see these colours added
There are hinge restrictors for those aggressive hinges on the entrance cabinets, I think those would help with the strength they have.
i love the fireplace AND the toilet room colors! they're so rich and look so good with the brass and and gold accents
I love the 3/4 painted entry wall! All the updates are wonderful.
I thought I would miss that green so much, but Kelsey was right on colors again, that plum brown is *amazing*
i always liked the brown in the bathroom! i thought it fits well with the cabinet shape/lines. Also the entry looks a thousand times better and ties into the livingroom a lot better, it feels cozy now before i thought you should separate them with a dividing wall
The brown has absolutely grown on me! And that cabinet under your TV is gorgeous! 10/10! It’s exciting that colour is getting more and more popular, it’s so cozy!
So much more sophisticated! Absolutely love the fireplace!
"I didn't want brown" she says as she paints the fireplace dark brown...
Yes, you DID want brown!!
yes definitely more brown than purple on screen. Hopefully it looks better in real life!
Here's the T
(as I see it, of coarse)
▪︎ The fireplace is coming off brown thru the camera.
▪︎ The shelving under the TV looks great, but the caning is looking like burlap thru the camera. Hopefully it looks better in person.
▪︎ If you LIKE the brown bathroom color, then 👍
▪︎ You said in the beginning of the video you were going to inject some color.
As a person who loves actual colors, I've watched the entire video, and I'm still waiting for the color injection.
I don't particularly like browns. But that's just me.
So...
Truthfully, all I am seeing are more shades of blah.
If you say the fireplace is more "plum" in person I'm kinda wondering why not just choose a less brown shade of plum, and add a more actual plum color, (which would be great)... ?
But hey, it's not MY house!
It's yours, so if you're happy, I'm happy.
Remember - you DID ask for the truth. ❤
I have to agree here. This must be pretty brown if it’s coming off nothing BUT brown on camera. If she wanted to “inject color” I think she should’ve let loose a little more. The place still feels the same, except it now feels smaller, in my opinion, with more than half of the front wall being a beige color. The combinations here aren’t playing well, in my opinion. But if she’s happy, it’s her home!
I don't know what kind of screens y'all have, but that fireplace is totally plum! When she first painted it on and it was still wet, it definitely looked brown, but not when it dried. I was surprised with how much I liked it! Perfect for fall/winter imo.
@@Ac-he6eu I think the better question might be:
What kind of screen do YOU have!
It’s like Kelsey lives in a room makeover musical where she casually breaks into song every now and then, love it haha
ua-cam.com/video/bR3sJZdKkM0/v-deo.html
I loooove all the changes that you made to each space! That plum colour is beautiful
Ohhh I love it! Looks so much more custom and thoughtful!
I've always liked the brown, the purple looks great all the way up the wall, such drama without drama.
I really like the warmth your redecorated room gave off..wasn’t sure at first tbh.but the end result is lovely 😊
