Not gonna lie, I could not see the vision with that fireplace color at first and was almost horrified when you opened that paint can. But once I saw the final version, it totally makes sense. I am still on the fence about the poop color for the poop room but absolutely love the gallery wall!
In Germany we usually try to drill into the grout lines. You can always fill them if you remove whatever you had there. It's not as visible as drilling directly into the tile. Of course sometimes the grout lines are just to small 🤷♀️
For me, I don’t really hate the brown poop color, even for a toilet room. I think what turns me off is where the color is placed and the fact that there’s SO much of it. If it was used as an accent color or distributed all over the toilet room in small bits then ok. But it’s too much of that one color in one area (the entire bottom half of the walls) that turns me off. If she had used this same technique with a different color it might’ve worked, but it’s something about that specific intense neutral brown that i don’t think works in such large sections. But she likes it so that’s all that matters! 🙂
I miss the green fireplace, would have loved to see that color up the whole wall behind the mirror. But the final product does look beautiful. The door color all the way across separates the entry space nicely. The brown has won me over! Especially with the gallery wall it just fits.
I LOVE how the redo went! Too many designers are decorating with just white these days. It's SO nice to see color added to the space even if it is still neutrals.
Tile hols are “less permanent” than cabinet holes.. you can always swap a tile by breaking it and removing with a chisel, then you just need to put on your spare tile

Oh my goodness! As a girl who grew up with a mom who sewed, I can tell you a little something about your grandmas “book”. The original book that she glued her ideas into was the official pattern book for Butterick. You would go to the fabric store and they had big slanted desks with those books propped up so u could see drawings of the clothes and then look up the correlating pattern in giant file cabinets. So here’s the tea on ur grandma- u couldn’t buy those giant books. They were for in store use only! So somehow your grandma managed to sneak out with that giant book?! Or had a friend who hooked her up?!? Hilarious. (And BTW- I’ve always liked the brown)
They got rid of the old books when new patterns came out, so Gramma probably came by it honestly. And greens my favorite color, but the fireplace looks great with the other change-Florentine Plaster color. Like the picture wall.
I’m not sure about the color of the fireplace, but I love how it divides the room. I didn’t get it when you explained it but it totally was the right move
Feels so much warmer in the entry, I’d be curious to see how you feel about the color come spring/summer as it does feel a bit autumnal. I love it though❤️
I was thinking that too! Although knowing Kelsey, I wouldn't put it past her to re-paint in the spring 😂❤ I mean with a Benjamin Moore sponsorship, why not?! I would too!
I wish I could see what you see with the brown color - I admire the optimism. I think it also makes the space feel heavy to have the dark contrast on the bottom. Maybe just me?
I've always liked the brown bathroom, but I don't really like the fireplace now, def prefer the green but I like that you brought the door color around. Always feel weird using a toilet with pictures of people but the gallery wall is organized well
I love all the changes! Except, I'd be a bit weirded out to look at all my relatives / have them look at me while I'm sitting on the toilet.. But it does look great, I personally would probably just use different pics 😅 and I have ALWAYS loved the brown and absolutely still do!
I feel the bathroom needs more. It needs like an amber glass tray, some dark bronze knobs to match frames, or statement knobs ex: knobs that come together in the top center when the doors are closed. I love everything else, the plum, the console. I'm glad everything is coming together for you, especially since you literally put blood sweat and tears into it. =)
The whole "drilling into the tile" thing is so my dad too - if you kept any spare tiles, then you have them for when you want to re-cover holes! Drill away, girlie girl!
Drilling into tile is a bit more complicated than normal drilling, you need a special drill bit and you have to water cool it, however that newer hindered us in doing "permanent" changes. That being said, when ever possible, drill into the grout to mount things. Much easier to deal with and a lot less risky.
Unless you are drilling massive holes, you are fine without watercooling it. I wouldn't actually drill into the grout. You can just hit a til, which makes it way more vulnerable. Personally, I don't think it looks goed either.
Gallery wall is certainly helping the bathroom come together. I think more pictures would look really good in there. The fire place looks really nice! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for showing the REAL design process you go through! And for showing how much HELP you get from so many awesome friends. It’s good to have that perspective when you don’t have that kind of support to help how long things can take for your own situation. I Appreciate it very much :)
I’ve always loved the colour you chose for the water closet I think a nice dark/warm colour is perfect for that space. But hear me out, wallpaper on the top half that is also dark tones. With the gallery wall I think that could be so cool!
I wasn't sure I would like the color of the fireplace since I LOVED the green, but I like what the full-height color and warmth of the brown does to the space - very cozy. :)
Love the new colors! The plum/raisin purple fireplace looks gorgeous and draws the eye up as you were explaining. Looked good before, also looks good after, just a matter of personal preferences! This also reminds us viewers that we have permission to change our minds about our living spaces lol sometimes it feels like once it's "done" it's permanent. Not the case!
I really don't mind the color in the "poop room" the thing that bugs me is that it seems a too little flat, pictures helpping a bit to remedy that, but the very base/no texture gives me cheap gas station bathroom vibes. I wonder if there would be a way to bring more texture to that color on the lower half while still keeping the room easy to clean as it is a poop room and in a basement.
When you opened the paint tin for the fireplace I was like "Oh no the green is so nice" but it really does add a warmth and better flow to the space. Love the beige continuation half way up the wall. Another job well done 👏 ✔ 👍
the thought of being on the toilet having all these people "watching" you combined with the brown wall that, personally, is giving me vibes of the ww2 era - it's a lot 😅😅😅 but what is better proof of you liking the decisions you made than keeping it the way it is despite aaaall the negative feedback? nothing! and that's awesome (no joke here, I'm serious) 💕
Honestly when you said changes are going to be made I was thinking oh good the "poop" walls are going. Sorry Kelsie not a fan of that color. I love the look of bold wallpaper I was hoping that for that room than maybe I could like the poopie wall color. But I do love your space and all the changes you've made much more cozier. I love the making home series I don't want it to end.
I love the plum fire place! It looks so much warmer. I’ve been waiting so long for you to do plum/aubergine i think its such a nice colour and also compliments the sage green you have in other parts of the house. I know you love the brown in the bathroom but i think maybe painting over it with the plum could also be cute.
Kelsey: I love this color. Me: I hate it. I love that you stay true to yourself! It's not what I would do but it's helping to know the right way HOW to do something!
Recommendation: you don't have to drill to the tile, just use Mammut glue stickers or it's alternative, it will hold like "Mammut", I have my drying rack for clothes glued in and it really doesn't move at all even fully loaded.
I just bought my house and I totally felt why you don’t want to put holes in the tile! I try so hard to not put holes anywhere because I change up the style and decor all the time! If I put a permanent fixture in, I feel like I can never change it 😅
I love the new fireplace color and the bathroom colors are so cozy! I definitely feel that the bathroom has the wrong lighting though. I would do amber lighting to match the color in there, it would also make it feel more comfortable and cozy instead of harsh white light raining down on you. Otherwise I love!

I think the towel rack on the vanity is a smart decision. I love the vintage gallery wall in the toilets. Love the media unit. Love how you spread the Florentine plaster color on the wall. I'll miss the green of the fireplace and I'll need some time to get used to the plum color. You did great! I can't wait to see what you'll do in the kitchen!
LOVE how that plum colour turned out! It's giving me Fall vibes!! 🤩 As for the poop room, I don't think the colour is that bad, but there is too much of it imo. You should break it up/liven it up with more details and a faux plant.
I was SO stoked to see you paint the poo room.. and then you DIDN’T. 😂 lmao you should just paint it the color of the fire place, because the fireplace color is similar, but SO much better!!!❤️
Loving the new changes! I liked how it was before, but I think the dark plum adds a lot more depth to the room vs the sage, though it was a gorgeous sage colour. Also, I'm digging the brown toilet room a lot more now - before I didn't dislike the brown, like it looked fine, but with the new frames to tie it all in, I like the brown a lot more
The brown has absolutely grown on me! And that cabinet under your TV is gorgeous! 10/10! It’s exciting that colour is getting more and more popular, it’s so cozy!
I appreciate how you go back into spaces and tweak them. I ADORE the entryway! That plum color is amazing! Also, the gallery wall made me like the bathroom better. The brown is nice ( browns are HARD, so bravo on your color choice). If you are unsure and want to change it, the plum or a darker green would be nice too. Gorgeous as always!
i always liked the brown in the bathroom! i thought it fits well with the cabinet shape/lines. Also the entry looks a thousand times better and ties into the livingroom a lot better, it feels cozy now before i thought you should separate them with a dividing wall
My childhood home's bathroom is covered in family photos! Love the brown- I think it might be a bit more of a cohesive/cozy if the white above it was a bit more taupe
i LOVE the color in the water closet. i would have kept the green on the fireplace but painting the whole wall around the fireplace is MUCH better visually and the console/cabinet under the tv is GORGEOUS.
Love the living and entry space now! So much more cohesive and mature, not just a space where things were being kept - you know? Great job. The fireplace paint color is 🔥
Not in love with the bathroom or fireplace color but it's your home so that's all the matters! Personally I think painting the same green up to the mirror would've achieved the same effect. The media cabinet is soooo good though!
OMG love the transformation. The brown is so good! On the fireplace & also in the bathroom, I love them both. Also love to see Rachel on the videos, she is just cool af, great style & personality. Love from Lisbon 😘
Fully agree with Kelsey’s dad about putting holes in the tiles, side of the vanity is less damage. Also that florentine plaster colour, although nice, looks a bit grimy next to the stark white above it. Any beige/taupe has that visual effect. But maybe it looks different irl and I’m wrong☺️
I love the updates. I also have enjoyed the toilet room from the beginning, which feels modern and calming at the same time to me. Love the courage in making bold choices!
I would put the towel bar on the tile. If you want to change it some day, your new towel bar's face plate will probably cover the holes anyway. Sending lots of love 💖 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵😷
I love the fireplace colour, the plum does come through. I would have never have thought about the eye being drawn upwards with the lights and mirror but being grounded with the colour. Seeing the before and after I totally get what you mean, it's such an impactful transformation!!!
I love all of the colors you picked, even the 'hated' brown in the bathroom! Especially love the plaster color in the front - makes everything look really custom and built in
Agree I removed a toothbrush holder someone put in the tile and it just looked horrible. And taking it out cracked the title 😅 and old owner didn’t leave replacement tiles 🙃 so now it’s hidden by a plant
Why is everyone hating on the poop color bathroom. I really quite like it!! I think it reads more like clay/mud and makes for a cozy atmosphere Also the entryway makeover is amazing
It's the "not literally but" for me Also you should invest in a laser level! even the hand held cube ones are super cheap and affordable mine was a life changer
Bringing the door colour across the walls was such a good call, and the new fireplace colour, especially taking it to the ceiling. It makes the place look more like a home and less like a rental.
Regarding the towel holder you can silicone it to the tile. Use tape to secure. Once it sets it will hold like it’s screwed in. And if you ever decide you want to take it down you can cut it out and clean up the silicone. I’ve down this with magnetic knife holders on my kitchen tile and it works like a charm.

Nice aubergine colour for the fireplace! I was expecting some action on the fireplace itself, like a stencil or a tile, or more texture..

There's an idea! :)
I like it honestly, I think it matches her vibes
She totally trolled/clickbaited me with that thumbnail lol...
My suggestion also
that's what i said too!
10/10! It’s exciting that colour is getting more and more popular, it’s so cozy!
love this plum and the toilet room colours! You see a lot of whites and creams lately with no depth or darkness and i love to see these colours added
I painted my house all white too- safe. But lately have been itching for something! This has inspired me! Looks soooo good. Subtle and effective
I thought I would miss that green so much, but Kelsey was right on colors again, that plum brown is *amazing*
Please don’t ever let this series end I love watching u evolve
I've always liked the brown, the purple looks great all the way up the wall, such drama without drama.
i LOVE the color in the water closet. i would have kept the green on the fireplace but painting the whole wall around the fireplace is MUCH better visually and the console/cabinet under the tv is GORGEOUS.
i love the fireplace AND the toilet room colors! they're so rich and look so good with the brass and and gold accents
I totally agree with bringing some colour to your living room. Looks great!! So much cozier
I hate the brown bathroom but I have to admire how hard you’re trying to make it happen 😂
same and putting up all those photos w/o frames makes it look like a 15 year old polaroid wall
Love the living and entry space now! So much more cohesive and mature, not just a space where things were being kept - you know? Great job. The fireplace paint color is 🔥
Your grandmas book is so precious. You’re the right custodian for it in your family. 🥰💋🌺
TOTALLY agree with putting it in the side of the vanity than in the tile. Fixture styles change so much.
Not in love with the bathroom or fireplace color but it's your home so that's all the matters! Personally I think painting the same green up to the mirror would've achieved the same effect. The media cabinet is soooo good though!
I really like the warmth your redecorated room gave off..wasn’t sure at first tbh.but the end result is lovely 😊
not mistakes, just style changes! i love changing my spaces constantly to fit my vibe as it changes (:
It looks so much warmer and more cozy on the first floor now, and I loved the green fireplace! Love how homey it is now.
Love it!! Can't get enough of this series!!!
... your neighbor kinda cute 😂
He is cute... 😀
Very cute 👀 Hi! Brian?
I love how every piece of furniture is so unique and perrrrfect for your house! Great job 👏🏻
This is amazing! It’s such a good example of how paint can transform a space!! {I love the browns you picked don’t let anyone bother you about them}
I love the updates.
I honestly would have affixed a suction cup on there, it could suction on the tile or the glass shower separator.
Especially love the plaster color in the front - makes everything look really custom and built in
I think the room looks much better with the full painted fire place, an the color was perfect. The fire place really stands out in a good way. LOVE IT
I literally just sat down with lunch and this popped up. This is such perfect timing and I'm so excited!! 😂
Omg same!! lol 😆 Hope you lunch is delicious bestie and may the rest of your day go smooth and stress-free ✌🏼✨🍁🎃
@@jenny_bearr Thank you! Same to you!! ☺
Kelsey: i'm gonna add some color
also Kelsey: * paints everything beige *
My thoughts exactly 😂 beige brown or green.
Drilling into tile could literally break the tile, and make it look really gross, and it’s very hard to patch. So I’m glad you didn’t do that
Agree I removed a toothbrush holder someone put in the tile and it just looked horrible. And taking it out cracked the title 😅 and old owner didn’t leave replacement tiles 🙃 so now it’s hidden by a plant
The brown in the water closet is gorgeous! Please don’t doubt what you like vs what others like!!
I binged watched this series & I enjoyed every single minute of it. I am left wanting more.
Why is everyone hating on the poop color bathroom. I really quite like it!! I think it reads more like clay/mud and makes for a cozy atmosphere
Also the entryway makeover is amazing
I’ve always loved the bathroom color, such a good brown!!
I also love all the green in your house, but the new fireplace color looks so great!! 💓
It's the "not literally but" for me
Also you should invest in a laser level! even the hand held cube ones are super cheap and affordable mine was a life changer
Not sure about portraits in the bathroom… like “Grandpa’s” watching you poop!
i love the fixing mistake videos!
